How the scam works:
You are tempted to get yourself a great brand name watch you found online, such as a Rolex. It is an amazing deal. You are not sure if this is a scam or not, but decide to purchase it, as it looks good in the pictures and there is a “money back guaranteed” offer.
As soon as you get the watch, you realize that it is not genuine, and – after you double check with friends and maybe a specialist – you decide to send it back to the address provided.
Not only will you lose the watch, but also the few hundred dollars you’ve spent already. When you call your credit card company to cancel the transaction, you’ll probably find out the charge came from…Eastern Europe.
How to avoid:
If it is too good to be true, it probably is. As always, buy your brand name watch through official dealers.Alternatively, if you are looking for great quality watches for affordable prices yet trustworthy, you can always check reputable companies.
