To remove yourself from these websites, you’ll have to manually send opt-out requests to each one. Here are the basic steps to do this:
- Find out which data brokers have your personal information. Google your name and phone number, and you’ll likely see results from people search sites that sell or publish your data publicly. However, there will be other data brokers that don’t sell to individuals or publish the data online. You’ll have to blindly send opt-out requests to these companies based on your location and the areas the data brokers typically cover.
- Send individual opt-out requests. Each data broker and people search site has its own opt-out process. Often times employing online opt-out forms that you can find on the websites.
- Repeat the process periodically. Data brokers refresh their databases fairly often. Removing your personal information is no guarantee that it won’t end up back there in a few months. Keep a list of the usual suspects, check back regularly, and opt out repeatedly, as needed.

Most informative, and a very good learning lesson to be read by everyone…..because you could be next. My bank debit card was hacked 6 times….each time I had to get another card from the bank. But on the 6th and last time it happened…the bank treated me like I was doing the fraud charges, and said it was the last time they were going to issue me a new card….and they were putting me on probation????I don’t know what that meant-but the following day I withdrew all money from the bank and went to a new bank. They made me feel like a criminal, and totally humiliated me. Now at the new bank…I’ve had to replace my bank debit card twice, because of fraud charges….when will this nightmare end.????
