Are there any apps that can detect an nfc or rfid reader that is in proximity of me trying to get my information? The wallets are all well and good until you pull your card out of it to pay for something. I had what I thought was a COVID crawler getting close to me and others in line at a Dollar Tree. She was standing in the different check out lanes, not giving anyone any space, making sure her little 3 year old abortion with teeth was bumping into people, and most importantly, she wasn’t buying anything. Then there was a charge to my account for over 100 bux at Legoland. I want a reader detector specifically, not a reader. If banks are going to force these vulnerabilities on us, there really should be something available. Anyone know of anything?
would something like aluminum foil deter the RFID signal reading ? some of us dont have extra money for $$ wallets
It is the radio frequency scanner that reads a chip on your card, However I would have thought that info on the card chip would be encrypted, and programmed to allow only amounts from your card by the wave and pay method. More info on this would be good.
From all places, it happened to a workmate of mine at a football game last week. He heard a ‘beep’ when a guy bumped into him at the beer stand. He had to call and cancel the card. Better safe than sorry, wallet shopping it is/
Thank you so much for the article! That’s crazy… I just told my husband I know what I want for Christmas – one of those wallets!
