Adult Content Verification

How the scam works:

You are browsing the Internet and try to access a particular website. It could be an online magazine, shared page, or any interesting article. All of a sudden, pop-up appears saying “Adult Content Verification”.

In a normal situation, this would be just a typical button: “press OK if you are over 18”. However, the scam is a legitimate-looking confirmation request asking you to put in your password for a social media account of your choice. Something that it comes along these lines: "Adult Content Verification – Confirm you are 18+ with your Facebook (or Twitter, LinkedIn) account. Log in HERE".

Needless to say, once you give this information away, your account is hacked and compromised.

How to avoid the Adult Content Verification scam:

Use your judgment; a password doesn’t certify if you are an adult or not.
