Facebook Messenger Video Scam: How It Works
The number of Facebook users worldwide is now over 2 billion, while more than 1.2 billion use Facebook Messenger. Unfortunately, all these huge numbers make room for cybercriminals to victimize people, daily.
The latest scam involves a text and video from a real friend on your Messenger list, which can compromise your computer. How does the scam work? A dangerous phishing message is currently spreading around the world on Facebook Messenger. If you click on it, your device will be infected with adware. The message appears to have been sent by someone in your contact list. The sender’s account (your friend’s) was hacked and their credentials have been stolen. Here is how criminals can easily hack your Facebook account.

Going back to the scam, the message reads: “David Video”, plus a shocked face emoji. The message contains a link that supposedly leads to a video.

The link doesn’t start a video, instead, it leads to a Google document. The landing page contains what appears to be a video with a play button. When you click it, your gadget will be infected with adware.
The criminal then gathers data about your device, such as which browser and operating system you are using. This info determines which malicious website you are redirected to.
The extension is infecting your device with malware, forcing it to click multiple ads behind the scenes. If you’re using Firefox or Safari, the end results are almost identical, with a small difference. You’ll be shown a bogus update for Flash Media Player required to watch the clip.
This also installs adware onto your gadget. The crooks could also change the payload at any time in the future. Instead of infecting your device with malware they could infect it with a different type of virus.

Facebook Messenger Video Scam: How To Avoid
Needless to say, do not click on the link if you receive this Messenger text notification. Let your hacked friend know immediately about the case so he/she can warn the others not to click on the malicious link and also change his password.
Typically, if you click a link within an unsolicited message and the landing page requires you to install an extension (such as Google extension), don’t. Exit out of the page and delete the message. Have strong anti-virus security software installed on your devices.

the scam i been getting is for facebook /police who show someone violating person / driver rights when you comment on the video because of police abuse you get punish for 1-90 days bans facebook entry bans everything restrict your facebook page count down the days if face book is doing this themselves their asshole for that entrapment the videos are outraous they violated sovereignty of the victims / driver . land owner , its outrageous thing to do because they Facebook or police take your account away without any review over intent frankly I have no issue with police their are bad ones who violated your rights assult you and you have every right to shoot them that is the truth that is our legal system and more and more people see this as the police are just agents of state the case law shows this and stated under SJC that 2ed amen is for our protection not police police are for communist their democracy we people have a constitutional republic bill of rights not a communist manifesto C.O billionaires if they continue to play this speech prohibtion game i can see them having to pay for protection as this really pisses people off

Facebook Chat Privacy yet another tool to allow people to be rude and inconsiderate. You don’t feel like answering someone right away? Well let’s put it this way if you had an emergency and you needed an immediate answer from someone in real life and you asked them a question in person and he/she ignored you and then 5 hours later decided they would answer you. Would you like it? I think not. There’s never any excuse to be rude and inconsiderate to someone who’s never done you any harm whether online or in person!

I was recently contacted by someone claiming to work for Facebook, claiming I’d won a huge amount of money in a promotion, I knew nothing about, that had to do with my email, & Facebook account, & was supposedly picked by Mark Zuckerburg himself. But then then, I knew it had to be a scam when they asked for $150.00 for insurance for shipping my "award" to me. If someone is going to award you $900,000. They certainly are not going to charge you for shipping it. Get Real…!!! 2 weeks later, these people supposedly from FedEx are still trying to contact to get me to send money to claim thus prize. And if Faceboiik wants a name, I’ve got the shipping name they gave me, as to where to ship the money to, as well…if you want to catch them….
