kayak.com Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives kayak.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 84.3. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 84.3 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to kayak.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning kayak.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between kayak.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of kayak.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of kayak.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. kayak.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether kayak.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether kayak.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, kayak.com.

These guys Working with all cheating companies to list vehicles in their site. One such is EconomyBookings. Eventhough hell lot of people raised complaints they still allow them to list vehicles as rentals. No responsibility from Kayak to check their worthiness and customer complaints. We should completely avoid these BROKER Sites and book anything directly with Rental Companies and Arilines.
I had to pleasure to work with Salvador from Kayak. He was very patient and understanding about my needs and went above and beyond for what my family and I were looking for. He has called multiple times to do a follow up and gave me different options based on our comfortability. Overall, we had a good experience with his customer service.
The internet is already polluted with infinite ads. Kayak pay for ads on my lhone and on my ps4. I wish they went bankrupt. There is no word to describe how much i hare having a corporation jumping in my living room trying to get my money while using my electricity abd my internet connection. They should hive ne money gor having to watch their atrocious ads. I will remember the name just to make sure no one i know ever give them a dime. I would prefer to find actual bird poop on my screen
Be very careful when using Kayak to book airfare. I booked airfare through one of their airlines BESTAIRFARES and this is a total scam. Shame on Kayak for referring you to a company that will take your money and never ticket your flight. It is a total offshore scam. I will NEVER again use Kayak
Kayak used to be legit, very good, and I used them many times in the past to purchase cheap tickets. I think they had their own employees who confirmed bookings, helped make changes and would rebook flights when there were alterations or cancellation with the airlines. That is no longer the case. They seem to now be working other companies that are deceptive, dishonest and do not offer good customer support. I just found out that a ticket I booked to fly next week was NEVER purchased, though on Kayak’s site, it shows as confirmed and even shows the card I used to purchase it. The Kayak site directed me to AirAssist for customer service and said that the booking had been made through them. AirAssist showed the booking as cancelled! When I called, they said my card had not gone through and Miguel had tried to call me several months ago, couldn’t reach me and so they cancelled the ticket. But if I wanted to, I could get the same ticket now for 400 dollars more. I was so angry, I couldn’t breathe! We’re in the 21st century. If there’s a problem with the card, we have the de no logo to deal with that in real time, while I’m still on the site. Why have some random guy call me at some random time as if I am waiting by the phone to speak to him? This all happened just 5 days before my international trip. I hung up with AirAssist and fortunately was able to find a fare for the original price through Expedia. It’s infuriating and very disappointing that Kayak has devolved into yet another company who is cutting costs and providing deceptive service in order to make their shareholders richer. I am quite sure the extra money doesn’t go to the third party employees. Shame on you Kayak. You have forever lost a customer who believed in you. Kayak will never see another cent from me!
We booked air tickets with a site that we were directed to by KAYAK, namely cheapflightsfares.com, who then emailed us that the fares had gone up by $500 before they could complete our booking. When we refused to pay the additional cost, they 'talked with a supervisor' and came back with an offer to pay $400 of this additional charge. We suspected this was a scam and cancelled our flights with them and rebooked directly with the airline at the correct rate. KAYAK needs to be aware of who they are sending people to. Others might have fallen for this SCAM!!
We booked our flight via Kayak today with “Kayak Instant Book”and couldn’t receive confirmation but an email asked us to call them, They told us they couldn’t send confirmation because the price increased 24% by the airline. We had to cancel the booking. However, our credit card has been charged (pending) by the airline with the correct price. I.e. the price increased by Kayak. That is tricky. Please stay away from Kayak!!
To start with their flight tickets are not much cheaper than booking with the airline direct. The less expensive tickets involve long layovers and often a change of airline. Meaning you would need to leave the security area collect your baggage then check in again and go through security again ! To save $50 !!! No thanks. They have little to no flexibility. Almost impossible to change just a part of an itinerary. They insist on changing everything including the airline ! Heaven help you if you need to cancel. If you do, they will send you an e-mail advising your refund has been processed and should be returned to the card on file within 20 business days ! Over 50 business days now and I have yet to see a refund !!! This was my first and will definitely be my last dealing with Kayak. They are completely hopeless. I am an experienced traveler and have used the other online travel services, Expedia, Hotels.com, Orbitz, Booking.com ,etc with little to no issue. Kayak are the epitomy of useless incompetence. Avoid using at all costs
Beware of Crystal’s low prices. I can guarantee they are not there for you after spending time filling in all booking info. Instead, they offer higher prices as an alternative. And I can guarantee you will receive a call from their salesperson. … so frustrating!Kayak should not allow vendors like this.
This review is for the experience booking an car rental with Kayak provider Economy BookingsHorrible experience never book with this company. I'had several issues with their rental provider addCarBooking amount they charged me was only partially credited during pickup, their rental provider told me their broker fee is deducted from the booking amountRental provider forced me to take full supplement insurance after looking my insurance when my insurance has full liability coverage.Class of car that was booked was not honored, instead of providing an upgrade due to unavailability I was provided a downgraded car which was in terrible shape. Finally inspite of satifying all the drop off conditions they still haven't issued my deposit refund. Inspite of reaching several times their response is very slow two weeks delayed, incomplete and siding with their rental provider.
I thought I had my car rental all set up for Liberia, Costa Rica in Dec.3 2024.But, U-save/Discover cars, didn't show up to pick me up at the airport, didn't answer their phone, their office was closed until the next day ( I spent the night on their office porch in a hammock) AND when they opened they reniged on the agreed upon contracted amount and tried to get me to pay 6x the original amount. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE.
We are looking to buy 2 airplane tickets to go from Los Angeles,CA, to Stockholm Sweeden, then Helsinki Finland; then return to Los Angeles,CA/USA from Krakow Poland.Agent Collete of Chatdeal has been helping me effectively from beginning. She took time to explain to me in details, step by step regarding the flights and everything I should know until I feel comfortable to purchase 2 tickets for me and my wife. Her traveling knowledge is excellent. She's very friendly and patient. She is excellent in communication, either on the phone, texts, or emails.Always did what she planed or promised.Overall she is an outstanding travel agent, and I am fortunate to have her helping in purchasing the airplane tickets.
I booked a rental car from Hertz through Kayak with prepayment. When I came to pick up the car, my prepaid reserved car was rented out and there was no replacement car. So I asked for a refund from Hertz, and Hertz told me that I had to ask the refund from Kayak since the funds never actually went to Hertz. And when I contacted Kayak, I got no chance to talk to a person and there is no option for me to get the refund since Kayak claims it is just a search engine and thus has no refund policy. Now the only option left is to dispute the charge from my credit card.
Great site that searches for deals. Accurate prices too.
Suggesting crappy dealers like travellink.com with high suggestion rates in their site.Travellink-varausnumero:19499390879Travellink said they could not complete the reservation. Travellink made a 200+ EUR payment reservation. They promised the payment reservation would be unlucked soon. A day has passed but no signs of returning the money back. Wasted time & money and bought from booking.com. Please either deliver what you show in your page or dont waste our money and time. Thanks
Yana was very helpful and patient in finding flights that met my budgetary restraints, as well as the arrival and departure times which fit my schedule. She also contacted me to make sure that I had received the needed documentation and other information after she had emailed everything to me. I would recommend her to anyone.
Stay away from kayak! They fulfill bookings through disreputable companies. They do not send confirmations, and there is no way to communicate with them if a problem arises. I'm still trying to find someone to help me cancel the travel insurance they billed me $396 for and didn't cancel. I've spent hours and hours trying to resolve this - - no luck yet.
The agent Delilah was very respectful & expedited my travel request in a timely fashion; She even followed up w/phone call to inquire if I had received the travel itinerary! It was a pleasure to deal w/her... - Joseph Ismach
It is good as a search engine for airfares but THE PROBLEM IS it takes you to dodgy companies that are Scammers, (such as Bravofly.) Previously Kayak took me to GoGate.com.au, if was fine. But this last one Bravofly took $500 extra. As far as you contact the airline directly, you will be fine. If you go to Kayak's suggested companies , you might end up with a scammer.
I was trying to find what felt imposible multi city flights for my family and I and after hrs an hrs online I decided to give Kayak customer service a call and I honestly believe Jonas. R was heaven sent. She went above and beyond in helping me. I’ve never experience this level of customer service with any travel agent. I felt she really cared and wanted to help. She truly exceeded my expectations with finding the perfect flights for us and also with her level of customer service. She deserved a pay rise, a bonus and promotion because she literally made me never want to book anything with anyone else but her.Thank you Jonás!!

“Fake Prices!”
I have been trying to book a flight. Kayak shows what looks like a good price. I click on the button and suddenly the price changes, and definitely not in my favor! I try the other link that shows the same price, same thing! Kayak does NOT offer cheap flights, they offer you cheap LIES, and then they to bait and switch you into the actually much more expensive flights. I left the times on the photos so you can see these screen shots were within seconds of each other. And I could take the same pictures 8 hours ago so no, the prices didn't "just" change and the system hasn't caught up, they are like this as a standard matter of policy. Tip for consumers:This should be illegal to show prices that don't exist! Products used:I am still looking due to their lies
“Worst Travel site to use!”
I recently booked a hotel room at the Hyatt House Charlotte, N.C. Using Kayak / Traveluro using the Kayak app. I selected the 2 queen bed room but they changed it to a king room and could not get them to admit their mistake or any help what so ever, terrible customer service, Service
“Buyer beware.”
Buyer beware. This was my first and last booking with kayak. I booked a car through this third-party and thought I had a deal and when I went to the car rental agency in this case Europa car after they attempted to upsell me On mandatory insurance(they would not except the insurance on my credit card) The price of the insurance was double the price of the car rental. I had no recourse and left the car rental agency and I'm seeking redress and it's my impression at this stage that my $2000 is lost. I've talked to other individuals regarding third-party involvement and there is always a horror story. Numerous vacations have been ruined by booking through a third-party. This will be the last time. I would advise others to avoid third-party bookings in this particular case kayak. If the deal appears too good to be true it is. Steve K
“Slow page”
One issue I have encountered is that the page can be slow to load, especially when searching for flights with multiple layovers or destinations. This can make the process frustrating and time-consuming. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Good Customer Service”
Since Kayak offers discounts from other websites, I appreciate it. The fact that they don't provide discounts for Southwest Airlines—which often have cheaper prices if you don't mind delayed flights—is noteworthy. When comparing prices on several booking websites, such Expedia and Priceline, I usually use Kayak. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Do not book flight from Kayak! 24 hour return policy doesn't work with them!”
I always used Kayak for air tickets search. I might continue using them, but for search only, I will never book tickets through Kayak since 24 hours free return policy doesn's work with them! They will charge you $50 for each booked ticket! It never happened to me before. I always use 24hour return policy, It gives me time to make my final decision. Also you can check reviews of the company Kayak is using to sell their tickets: chatdeal, I think its rating is 1,5 star... it says a lot! Service Value Returns Quality
“Pay attention to customer service”
I used Kayak twice. The first time it was quite good experience. But recently I faced the problem when tried to rebook the flight. It took me three hours to talk to the service rep. It was stressful! You really need to do something about it! Products used:Air ticket Service Value Quality
“Don't use them, they are scammers”
My son (18) wanted to rent a car. I told him I didn't think any place would rent to him@ that age. He called Kayak & they told him yes & it would cost extra since he was 18. He paid his money, flew to Nashville & was stranded because the car rental place said they don't rent a car to anyone under 25. He called Kayak & they said they don't do refunds. He never received the services he paid for. I'm calling the BBB & he's disputing the payment to them from the bank. Tip for consumers:Beware. Products used:Uber Service Returns Quality
“It was an awesome experience!”
The encounter was fantastic! Daniel helped me more than I could have imagined. Despite my non-flexible dates. I was too poor to fly business, so I kept nagging him for discounts. We eventually discovered a fantastic deal on Airfrance for just over 2200. DANIEL, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
“Scammers”
My name is Karim Elmasry I booked 4 stars from Super hotel a 6 nights in Turkey through Kayak app. For our anniversary. After traveling for 24 hours the hotel couldn't allocate the booking and after 3 hours talking to Super hotel customer service and spending more than $150 of roaming calls they told me to go to another zero stars hotel or take your money back and when I requested to talk to a supervisor she told me he will call me after 3 hours and when I told her to transfer me to the survey she hanged up on me. Someone need to stop this false advertising and scam please. I spent more than $3000 and traveled across the planet to spend 6 nights for our anniversary and now i am staying in a hotel with 5 feet reception having washing machine next to the check in desk. This is not fair. My Super hotel confirmation number is B_******* Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Do Not purchase. Switch from Canadian $ to USD”
I was clearly on the Canadian Kayak Website. A flight deal flashed on the website. It was a scam cause it was in USD and it never clearly stated it was in USD. When I complained they provided me a AI response of how their computer only generated to the locale that the user is using. Which is not true cause I am in Canada. Flights were way cheaper on Expedia and WestJet. Tip for consumers:Do not purchase from them Products used:Flight Service Value Quality
“Don't trust Kayak, they partner with scammers”
Kayak used to be a trustworthy site but not anymore! They send customers to unscrupulous partners, like Travelgenio, who take your money, give poor customer service (no way to reach them, they ignore your emails, etc.) and don't give people refunds or vouchers they are eligible for (among many other complaints many people have). Kayak sends unsuspecting customers to these shady sites and then walks away with commission. Use the airlines directly, not these unnecessary middlemen. Service Value
“Scammers and will steal your money as soon as they get the chance”
Do not trust this agency. I couldn't board my flight I had 2 tickets worth over 2000$. I contacted the airline and they said I can rebook my tickets through my agency and the agency said the airline doesn't allow it. They are liars
“Easy, quick, dependable”
Perfect place to compare flights, hotels, or cars. Truly a one stop shop. I'm so sick of popup and other ambiguous travel sites. Kayak's price predictor is top notch and the interface is bold but simple. I like that you can set up alerts for price points
“Love it”
I literally end up booking all my flight via Kayak. I've tried many: expedia, skyscanner, opodo, last minute and etc - but every time prices on Kayak are better and they have some great search options, allowing you to quickly compare and book your flight. Highly recommend it.
“Awful, bad price”
If you want to find best price for your trip, avoid kayak. Low cost airlines like Thai Smile have their own online booking which is much cheaper but not included in kayak search. Kayak suggested to book same flight via kiwi.com 50% more expensive. Never again
“Booked a car through kayak with enterprise”
Booked a car through kayak with enterprise. Went to pick car up in Stuttgart to find though quoted €230. We had not got any insurance even though I was sure I had added this and and also would have to pay €6 a day if we took the car out of Germany! We ended our holiday paying €437! When could eventually contact kayak they said it was all in the small print. My advice is check that your insurance is included and about the border money before you go as this put quite a damper on our holiday. Don't think I'd use kayak again.
“Terrible Customer Service”
My Ethiopian flight was cancelled without Kayak informing me. I found out through my sister who picked the same flight via Expedia. When i informed Kayak, they failed to put me on another flight…stating they are waiting to hear back from Ethiopia airlines. After receiving no response for 2 weeks, I asked Kayak for a refund. And again, no response. Thus, I had to call my credit card company to dispute the transaction. Thank you chase for being understanding. However, I DO NOT recommend flying with Ethiopian airlines or booking through Kayak. Terrible customer service especially when it entails refunding people their money.
“Kayak.com and Dollar/Thrifty car rental SUCKS.”
Kayak.com sucks when it comes to doing their job. Do not book a car with them or with Dollar/Thrifty. I wish i could give a zero and not a 1 for ratings. Poor customer service on both ends. Gave me this around Kayak that Dollar owed me the refund then Dollar same thing on no Kayak owe you the refund. I would suggest dealing with the actual car rental company like Enterprise etc but don't book with a third party. From personal experiences. Second time trying Dollar car rental. Never again... You have been warned..
“Doesn't get any worse than this. Stay away!”
Kayak.com essentially is a deceptive advertising platform for shady booking companies to blend in with legit airlines to fleece unsuspected travelers with 'cheap fares' schemes. Booking companies like Vayama and kiwi.com can become a thorn in your travel experience. They "partnered" with Kayak.com to get customers but they provide no real customer service. These booking companies have hidden fees that make it very unwise to use them. And Kayak.com facilitates all this. Just stay away from Kayak.com to save yourself money, headache, and suffering.
“Found a hotel on Kayak and entered all the info to...”
Found a hotel on Kayak and entered all the info to complete the booking. The last page showed the terms which were never get a refund for any part of the booking if you cancel. I never check the box to accept those terms and they processed it anyway. I immediately called explained the situation, ask for supervisor in total spoke with three people got transferred etc. In the end they would do nothing except take the money. There whole booking system is set up to cheat you. There is no reason to ever make a reservation through Kayak. There bordering on crooked.
“Kayak has become the on-line trip planner for every...”
Kayak has become the on-line trip planner for every vacation and business trips of mine. Whether going alone or with my family, the first thing I would normally do is to hit on Kayak.com to browse through all options for my trip. Narrow down all the possibilities and finally reserve stuff. The only downside is sometimes the deal does not exist and it gets cancelled at times.
“Are all these travel deal sites owned by the same company?”
On many a trip in past years, I used Kayak.com and got some pretty good deals. Then all of a sudden the ad's on tv stopped for Kayak and then it was Trivago.com, well... they all either have the exact same software or something else is up. I'm not sophisticated enough to figure it out, but the good deals are far and between now on Kayak, and yet I can get some good deals, albeit occasionally on sites LIKE Trivago. Considering I am extremely cheap when I travel and the fact that I like to stay in nice hotels (I know...), I am searching multiple sites from the ones mentioned to hotwire.com to the actual Marriott or Hyatt ($#*! Hilton) sites trying to find a deal that makes sense with price, promotions, points, etc.) It really gets down to where you're going. Deals are out there you just need to shop multiple avenues to get the best deal, never just check one site like Kayak or any other.
“This site worked ok for the first few times”
This site worked ok for the first few times - then we hit one of their listed websites and received nothing but a rubbish run around - no confirmation of flight and no reply... lucky we could cancel one of our credit cards... then we got a call!. Stay away from this site... with any of these sites remember to check for budget lines like ryanair that dont take part...
“Not a good choice to book a ticket”
If you need to change or cancel your ticket through Kayak you will have hard time and lose money in any way. They keep saying " it's the policy sir" for everything they charge. When trying to cancel the ticket your ticket exchange charges are not included. Not a good experience at all. I don't recommend this website at all! Products used:Tickets

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
