Terrible security company
Just be aware that brinks cancellation policy is terrible and time consuming. They do not cancel until 30 days after paperwork is received. You will end up paying an extra month even if you don't use it. I even unplugged the unit and took it off the wall, so they were not able to contact the control unit because it was offline. It was offline for 2 months…. Not one phone call to check on us or the unit! Some security company.
Crooked company. Stay away
Bad customer service. Brinks is a crooked and devious business! If you have an issue (like the alarm going off for no reason) you will be on hold for a long time trying to get help (30 minutes plus). I pay a year in advance for monthly monitoring (pay for 11 months, get the 12th month free.) Last May I get a bill and the price went up significantly from $243 a year to $252! Subsequently I found another monitoring company. I called brinks on May 28,2022 to cancel service. My yearly service was to end June 27,2022. The call was made in advance to my paid up service; the new service started June 8 and before the paid Brinks service ended. Recently I checked my credit report (Dec. 2022) and I see that a collection company: Hillcrest and Davidson put a $47 amount on my credit report, that I owed. I had no idea what this was for, so I call them and they told me it was Brinks. It makes no sense. I have a statement dated June 16,2022 that I owe $47.49 (with a $5 late fee). Incompetent, unintelligent, unhelpful, disorganized, thieves. CAUTION
Whatever you do don't open an account here. You will be hung up on immediately if you have the wrong information or don't have it quick enough by the automatic system as soon as you call. All customer service is handled overseas and therefore extremely difficult to understand or will speak in circles until you are so frustrated with their lack of knowledge and help you just want to hang up. Please note this is extremely important! THEY DO NOT PROTECT YOUR ACCOUNT UNLESS YOU OPT IN TO BE PROTECTED. I have never heard of such a practice for a bank. My mothers card number was stolen and they never stopped the charges as the same company (Uber) was being charged over and over and over again. No alert, no questioning the charges. They just allowed my 70 year old mothers account to be completely drained without a thought. She has no money for rent because she didn't ask Brinks to take care of her money. In order to get any help with this issue what so ever you have to written a letter explaining the charges and wait for them to investigate. I raised this to the manager level which you think you would receive better care. Actually it was worse. The manager Amanda told me because my mother was still in possession of her card it was not possible for someone else to have changed on it. I pleased with her to never repeat this information. Understanding in todays day and age that there are many ways a person can hack your account without having the hard copy of the card. DO NOT GET CAUGHT IN THEIR LACK LUSTER BANKING PRACTICES. THEIR UNWILLINGNESS TO HELP IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG. OR HAVING TO DEAL WITH THE MOST MIND BOGGLING CUSTOMER SERVICE STAFF THAT WILL ONLY LEAVE YOU FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTED EVERYTIME.
