The UFC has caught an incredible popularity all over the world, therefore when fights have been announced in the new cities listed above the local interest spiked through the roof.

We are here to educate you about two fraudulent practices: the online scalping and the fake ticketing. We'll show you how it works and how to avoid it. First, let's expose the online scalping. How does the scam work?

Watch the video below to see in action the scam exposed extremely well:

Online Ticket Reselling Scam Video

In a world where the technology industry changes every day, it is easy for criminals to replicate a legitimate website, whether it's an artist's official page or even Ticketmaster. These fake sites are only made for victims to submit their credit card information in order to purchase tickets for the next event. As expected, UFC doesn't differ.

UFC Online Scalping

When it comes to purchasing tickets, there is more to it than people physically waiting in line or just buying on the Internet using a submission form. It is what is called online scalping. And this is happening now when UFC tickets are announced to be on sale for the new cities.

It is done by ‘online brokers' who use specific software to sweep tens of thousands of tickets within minutes and automatically re-post them on their website, at an at least 500% marked up price. No human involvement, just software.

Most of these ticket brokers have their businesses registered at PO boxes. They use software that collects personal information, credit card numbers, addresses, etc. in only a few seconds. That's including using bots reading the captchas for the human verification pass, too!

This way, while you are taking at least three minutes to fill out the submission form on an official UFC selling website, this scrapping software beats you by far and leaves an event sold out very quickly. Indeed, there are legitimate brokers out there, just like the ones re-selling the airline tickets for a small fee.

We are referring to ‘brokers' who resale the tickets for a few times more than the initial price.

UFC Event Fake Tickets

This trick is one of the oldest online scams and it occurs for every major event, whether it is the Olympics, a World Cup, or famous singers' concerts. Fake websites pop-up out of nowhere “selling affordable tickets” for a fraction of the real price.

This happens especially when tickets are not available for public yet (see the bottom of the screenshot below, taken from the official UFC website). Scammers just offer the “excluvise ways to get your tickets until then”.

The scam is similar to the Travel Packages Scam (in the travel industry), where ‘fly-by-night' companies are created only to collect as many credit card numbers as possible for an incredible deal.

The websites look legitimate and most of the times scammers claim to be official partners of the UFC, fraudulently using their branding, colors, and logo. How to avoid losing your money?

How To Avoid The UFC Tickets Scam:

When it comes to websites that sell tickets to the fights, make sure you see “https” in the browser. The letter ‘s' at the end is very important, as it guarantees the page is verified to do online financial transactions.

However, it is recommended to buy your tickets through the official sellers, whether it is the UFC Tickets page or Ticketmaster. Better safe than sorry!
