Train Station in India

How the scam works:

If you are traveling by train in India, an employee of the railroad company might approach you while you are patiently waiting for another two hours to pass until your departure.

He will advise you on the potential thieves around the station, and offer to “lock up” your luggage so it is safe and you can walk around for a bit. What you should know is that there is a hefty fee for this – the employee inflates the amount ridiculously.

If travelers pass on his offer, he will ask to check their tickets and try to find something wrong – “Oh, you didn’t pay the assessment fee on your ticket. You won’t be able to get on the train with this”.

How to avoid:

Call his bluff, he is just trying to scam you out of some money.
