How the scam works:
The Filipino authorities have announced that there is a skyrocketing scam hitting Filipino citizens living all over the world, but especially those back home. Crooks advertise several job opportunities in Spain, especially in real estate and construction. Dreaming of a new life in the country that used to rule the present Philippines, thousands of victims fall for this scam, sending advance registration fees to scammers who pocket the money.
How to avoid:
If you are a Filipino hoping for a job in Spain, be aware of this scam and note that the Filipino Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has warned that these jobs are almost impossible to get, as the immigrant workers who are actually employed for those positions are mostly of Latin background.
