Is yola.com Legit?

I had a website with Yola for years, almost since starting my business. Easy to build a basic website. My problems started over 12months ago when I tried to shut the website down and move my domain to another host!!!! Absolutely no customer service, lots of frustration. When it was finally completed I asked them to remove all my info from their system as per GDPR guidelines as I was unable to find a way to remove my payment details that had been submitted previously. I was assured that they would do so. Nope!!! Today (12 months later) I just had money removed by them from my bank account!!! And so the battle begins to get in touch with an actual human being!!

Free domain on other websites allowing at least first line customisation....on Yola you get ridiculous names like for example shroudsroubbleble.yolasite.com

I spent over an hour creating my website, then just to find out that it costs a WHOLE BUNCH of money per month to have a website. Gee thank you yola! They could’ve put it as one of the first things so I knew i would have to pay. Waste of time.

I’ve used yola since opening my business 11 years ago and they’ve been great. Whenever I’ve had problems they’ve been helpful in explaining and helping with any issues. I will note that I have the silver plan. Now I am transitioning to their new sitebuilder+ which seems even easier to set up with the pre-set templates, but the current classic is working fine - I just wanted to update my site.

Yola is a relatively easy way to build a website with very little knowledge needed. Customer support is awful. Since around 2021 they have gone downhill fast, automated support that sends you in circles. Also, you can't change or cancel your subscription level yourself, you need to contact support to do it. Support will send you automated replies unrelated to your query. You cannot delete your payment details from their service. Awful service, I would avoid them completely.

Yola is an EXCELLENT service when it comes to building and maintaining a website - ease of use, build your own store, and MOST IMPORTANTLY - they are in a class all their own when it comes to customer service...their response to any question or issue is immediate & have always explained and/or guided me through an issue with simple to follow instructions & images. I've been using Yola to host my Site since Jan 2011 & I've always been happy with them.I inadvertently missed a Command-End in one of my HTML sequences & then replicated it through every Page of the Site but I had no Idea what the error was.I sent Yola a request to help me Identify the answer & the following Day - they'd sent me the solution.Remember - this wasn't a fault of they're making - it was mine & without any hesitation they'd looked at the Fault for me & identified the Fix.NO COST - they just e-Mailed the Error-Cause & how to cure it.My Site is now Error-Free & I'm exceptionally grateful to Yola Support & I'm happy to recommend them to anyone wanting to create a Site on Yola's Servers.- Mike -

I've been using Yola since 2015 and have found it very easy to natigate, set up and manage. I have a relatively basic account but it gives me enough tools to play with, including email accounts and an on-shop which saves hours when opposed to non-automated trading. You can also pick a design which works on mobile phones, which is the way a lot of people browse nowadays so is very important. It's not the most exciting provider visually maybe but does the job, the customer service team are always very quick to solve any minor issues. If you're looking for a quick and affordable professional looking website this is the place.

I wanted to do something very specific with one of the pages on my website. I had seen it on other websites, but was unsure of how to set it up on mine. Very soon after sending in my request for help, I received step-by-step instructions with screen shots. I just logged on for the first time in a few months and all of the custom embedded HTML codes and pages that I created is gone! Everything that I spent years coding and creating on this website since 2019 has disappeared. I have spent hundreds with Yola and have made thousands of dollars through the online stores. I have even referred customers. I am highly UPSET they would delete all of my hard work without a notice, an email or anything. Completely deleted important codes that I absolutely cannot get back, I will NEVER do business with yola again. I will be sure to complain and spread the word about how unsecure your website is if you use Yola.I will take my business elsewhere and will promote my business using another platform.

We have been using Yola for over 10 years now. It's not the most popular website building portal, it's not the most famous. It may be lacking on some (unimportant) features BUT, they have the best support team by far. Quick to respond, clear and concise. Today we have 25 websites on Yola and they are a big part of our family.

You CAN'T customise. Support sends you the same instructions that already led you nowhere. You make a screen video where you do EXACTLY what they say and showing it DOESN'T work, send to them and receive a response offering you to PAY for a subscription in order to get help. QUESTION: Why would anyone pay if even the basic version of their template does NOT work? I would ask that question, if I were you.

I have been using Yola for 10 years now for my domain and website. The templates were very easy for a rookie to make my website with. I have never had a problem until recently, and it just took one email and they had it solved and corrected. I had even mistakenly deleted my website when I thought I had un-published it. It took them only a few hours to get back to me, and put my website back up and running. I definitely recommend Yola.

I go to Yola to build all my websites. I use the Classic Sitebuilder because it is easier to use and I can build a site that looks the way I want it. I've gotten many compliments on my sites. Customer Service is excellent; very fast and helpful every time.

I have used Yola for some years now. I find it easy to navigate and the end result is good. In my opinion, Yola excels at customer service, which is a rare thing these days. Problems, as in any area of life, do arise from time to time, but Yola have always dealt with my concerns promptly and professionally.

I have been using Yola for quite some time. I can't remember how long, but I have 3 websites with them. I'll start by saying that they keep improving and is always good! However, I'm not a techie but I would have a much harder time creating a website if it weren't for their amazing customer service! They have 2 distinct platforms which the newer one was more difficult for me to learn, but they broke things down, walked me through the steps, created short tutorials for me and even took care of issues that involved a third party I was using! Recently, they outdid themselves, by giving my newer website an unbelievable oomph with their refresher offer. The rep that did it took all the notes I gave him and he went beyond my expectations! Besides being knowledgeable and very helpful, their customer service is always courteous and they get the job done as a team! I have received lots of praise for my latest website and all thanks to Yola!

A month ago I made a data request, and customer service replied to me saying to gather lots of information about my account (e.g. the time and date it was created) but the control panel only shows the number of sites and domains I have. And I asked the agent where this info was, but they said it was in the control panel, and I literally said that I couldn't find it, but they replied with the same thing. Do not sign up for this.

I've used Yola for many years. Around 6 to be exact. In all those years it seems that they just get worse and worse. The interface for building your site seems user friendly, but I find myself Googling the most basic of tasks i.e. deleting a page.But the main reason Yola deserve 1 star, in my opinion, is based mostly on their unstable publishing function. I have had this issue probably for the past 6 years and they have never fixed it! It allows you to publish your site for the first couple of tries pretty much instantly, but then it will take around 20 mins to complete, or just give up altogether.When I contact Yola support, I often receive the following responses: "The system is down" or "Try a different browser". It's just irritating to the point where I just learned to accept it and return back to editing my site later. But this longstanding issue is now beyond a joke and I'm now having to consider other alternatives.

“No way to reach by phone and on line complaint says my emails don't match so can't send request.”

Terrible. I would give it a -10 if I could. No customer service. I am seeing 3 different charges in the same month & I don't see any fees on their web site that match these charges. I can't reach them via email or phone. Stay away from a business that won't provide a way to ask questions about charges. I am reporting them as fraud to my bank!

There is no information on your site which would help us to cancel our online store. We don't need it, it's not being used and when people use it they choose the wrong options. “HORRIBLE”

The removed their phone number so it is impossible to reach anyone. We paid $90 for the supposed "Gold Service" and I have been trying to speak with someone for over 4 weeks now. They never respond. Suddenly a completely different person emails me telling me the original lady I was working with is no longer there. Hmmm, wonder why! He continually lies to me telling me that he has tried to call me several times and has left voicemail messages, however there are NO calls from anyone at YOLA, nor are there any voicemail messages. The site is difficult to use, and a big waste of time. Horrible, horrible, horrible. They should be ashamed. Working to find out who the owner is so I can report them to the Secretary of State.

“Thieves and Fraud”

Get a bill to renew domain, once you click submit they sneak an extra charge of $90 in. Never inform you before hand. Refuse to refund. They removed their telephone number so you can't call. Tell you to contact through support. Don't respond til the next day and still tell you no refund. Found the number for the VP of Customer Service and she isn't returning my calls. I filed a case with BBB. I think if enough of us get together we can file a lawsuit on them scamming, fraud and stealing money not to mention ignoring requests.

“Useless customer service”

Not sure what bozo runs this outfit, but they screwed me royally. Unfortunately im stuck having to use them. They dropped the ball this year. They sent a domain renewal notice to an email that had been deactivated years ago. And godaddy.com bought it and it would have cost me hjndrefs to retrieve it. Anx I was on auto renewal no less. I literally had to buy a new domain and rename my website. And publishing to the web is now crippled. Im an independant musician and rely on my site so I am stuck using these bozos until i can figure out how to transfer my site's look, name and everything to another provider. I am quite sure it wont be cheap!

“Excellent”

I have used Yola for over 8 years and have many sites on the web. Support is always ready and willing to answer questions and concerns within a reasonable time frame. My sites have a 100% up time and the templates are simple to use.

We signed on with Yola.com in 2007 and to this day it's the best business decision possible for a company our size with our needs. There have been times where we looked elsewhere, but soon realised that we're getting an amazing deal with a lot of flexibility other companies just don't choose to offer at the affordability Yola offers. And we're pleased that they are expanding and trying new features to offer us. But, the best part of this process is they are asking their clients to be a part of the decision process instead of just throwing templates at us with no say-so. Admittedly it is taking a bit more learning to get into the new swing of things, but that's not an issue thanks to their extremely responsive customer care team. We are in the newspaper publishing industry and Yola is the perfect solution for us. No matter what industry or retail you are part of, overall we enthusiastically recommend Yola to anyone looking for a pleasant and cost-effective change from many overpriced providers that offer exactly what Yola does. Tip for consumers:Be patient and take your time when using site builder. It is fairly easy and does most of the work for you, but don't expect any of the features to do something they aren't supposed to do or weren't designed to do. They are upgrading and adding new features throughout 2021 and beyond. If you need something, just ask the team. They are really good about getting back to you in a timely manner. The YOLA scam - they get you on sneaky free website turns to little upgrades turns to $90 charges on your credit card 1+ years later that you didn't know were coming. I call this a SCAM. Watch out for charges into the future. You can try cancelling yourself in their secure site but they don't give you the option nor tell you to how to cancel subscription. Above in their official reply it says it is so that you have to be logged in to cancel- but they provide no way to do so- LIARS. Yola is simple to work and it fits for a static small business page. But lack of features like blog system, contributor system or download website makes yola a three star rating.

Tools, templates, and navigation is easy to use. HOWEVER: Yola.com has some very deceptive billing practices and it is VERY difficult to stop being billed.

The website has been ok as a host, though I don't have the HTML freedom that I would like. But they also host my domain, and even though payment for it isn't due until next month, they took that payment out two weeks too early. So now, since I will have nothing in my account to pay them with until just before it's actually due, I'm overdrawn. This is a new bank account. I CAN'T be overdrawn, or I run the very real risk of the account being closed on me. I am NOT happy with this. So, if you pay them for anything, you'd better make sure you have money in your account at least two weeks before you need it, or you're out of luck. EDIT: It is now two years later (2016). Yola forced me to incur overdraft fees once more, because it decided to take payment early again (though, that's not the main reason - keep reading). All I get when trying to dispute the early payment is "It's industry standard". Just because you think everyone else does it, doesn't make it right at all. I'm tired of hearing "industry standard". How about doing the right thing, instead of the popular thing, for a change? Not only that, but I absolutely know that my automatic renewal was turned off - I turned it off myself. Yet, somehow, there is mysteriously NO record of my changing it to reflect that it was turned off. I had disabled it to make sure (or, so I thought) that Yola wouldn't take payment early, which would allow me to enable it when I was ready to make payment before my domain expired, but after I knew it wouldn't cause me any problems. Yola completely ignored my disabling of the auto-renewal and, as I said, claims there is no record of it ever happening. As a result, I no longer use Yola as a host for my sites - neither my two free, nor one paid, site (which, by the way, there was, absolutely, no noticeable difference between). And I will not be allowing renewal of my domain when its expiry date comes up again, since I now have to wait another year because payment has already been taken. And, to rub salt in the wound, after deleting my account, I've been told that to transfer my domain name to another host, I need to give permission to re-activate my account. I'd rather my domain name be bought by someone else and used for absolutely nothing, than to reactivate an account with Yola just to transfer it. I very seriously hope I never have to deal with this company again.
