wix.com Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives wix.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 88.6. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 88.6 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to wix.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning wix.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between wix.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of wix.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of wix.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. wix.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether wix.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether wix.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, wix.com.

“Don't get Wix”
This is how they withdraw $529 out of my accountt. Please be advised that our Premium Plans are set to renew automatically to prevent any disruption of service at the end of the subscription period. As you did not cancel, your plan was renewed automatically. Please keep in mind, that a Premium Plan and a domain subscription are 2 separate subscriptions. If you cancel one of the, the second one remains active.
“Wix Premium is the worst experience for an online website company. Buyer beware..”
On December 24,2024 I paid for a one year subscription on January 22,205 I was told my website had a list of problems. I send an inquiry to find out what it would cost to fix the problems and was told to begin with $150US. How could a new website have so many issues? I asked for a refund and was told it has been over 14 days and I am not eligible for even a portion of my subscription back. How awful the customer service is and experience. Buyer beware!
“WIX is the absolute WORST website builder!”
I will admit, it has been about 10 years since the last time I built a site. Back then, you paid maybe $20-$30 for the website building software (Webs.com), domain name for about 5 years and all the ad building assistance you needed to make it a success. WIX - choose the wrong template? Give me money WIX - want a footer? Give me money WIX - want a header? Give me money WIX - want to be found on Google? Give me money WIX - want to fix your mistakes on the website? Give me money This is the disgusting. I understand monetizing the stuff that used to be free, but to be this grossly money grubbing while serving up rotten templates are just another example of this failure of a society. “Worst Service and limited in what it can do”
Worst customer services available no support line and takes days or weeks to hear back from Wix worthless support. The information their support provides in many cases doesn't answer any questions. There product is not very configurable and very un-user friendly. They do this to try to force customers to use their "professional services" which is as worthless as their support. Tip for consumers:Worst customer services, no support line, it takes days and sometimes weeks for WIX support to respond. Their product lakes the ability to customize pages it's either their way or no way and they do not offer a refund. Products used:Website Hosting Service Value Quality
“Refused to refund a monthly subscription charge.”
Purchased Google Ad package costing over $235.00 from Wix. Unbeknownst to me this was a monthly automatic renewal subscription. Wix refused to cancel the charge even though I phoned a day or two after the charge appeared on my credit card. Looked at the purchase steps following this refusal and noticed that the monthly requirement is noted only once in the entire purchase process (in fine print). Excuse was that they are only agents for Google. Hard to believe there is no provision in the agreement between the two companies dealing with refunds. I would suggest that Wix web site is over whelming and unless you are already an expert in on line selling, you will not be well served with this supplier.
“Scam artist and hackers”
I was receiving emails from someone on your sight regarding my unemployment. They ended up getting all of my personal information. I spoke to someone through the company and got no results. Now someone is trying to get more information from me through wix. Someone tried using my information to collect unemployment. I am holding you personally responsible Tip for consumers:I want to press charges
“Can't Win with Wix”
I have used Wix for over 3 years for my first photography website. It has done little to help my business grow but was a fair platform all the same, after I have migrated all of my information to a new host, I was charged over $348 dollars for a premium plan I am no longer using and I was never notified via email of said charge. When attempting to place a help ticket, I was denied the funds for surpassing the 14 day policy (of which I was never notified of a charge previously) When I finally had the time to speak with someone (at the time of this review), no one was helpful. A representative, from the virtual chat, read me the policy and transferred me to an agent on the phone, then another rep said the problem can be resolved, and transferred me to yet ANOTHER REP from billing who said nothing can be done. I get it that a business needs checks and balances to protect their profits but some level of accountability need to be taken when an error is made on their end. I was not notified of a charge and now I am paying for a year's worth of service that isn't even being used. Whether a rep sees this or not, just now that I am not expecting anyone to reach out to tell me the same nonsense that occupied an hour of my time. I am at a loss and the ONLY time when I needed Wix to help me with a problem on their end, they did not deliver; therefore, I cannot in good faith continue with a company with such an inflammatory business model. *UPDATE 2/12/25: A "representative" from Wix reached out stating that they read my review but was more concerned with flagging it for potential violations than assisting me (I would share a screenshot but they may flag me for that as well). “Extremely Disappointed with Wix Customer Support”
Extremely Disappointed with Wix Customer Support – Beware of Their Remote Access Software! I've been using Wix Studio, and while the platform itself has potential, my experience with their customer support has been an absolute nightmare. It started when I needed to change a simple piece of text, "JOIN THE MAILING LIST," to an H2 tag on my website. For some reason, Wix Studio wouldn't allow me to make this change, so I reached out to customer support for help. Instead of actually troubleshooting the issue properly, the support agent deleted the text and typed "H2" in its place—as if that was a solution. Clearly, they didn't understand the problem, and after wasting time, they failed to fix it. Then, things got WAY worse. The agent had me download and install ScreenConnect so they could screenshare and "help" me, but after that, my computer completely broke. After the call, my system got stuck on a blank screen, wouldn't restart properly, and had lingering software that took HOURS to track down and remove. I had to manually shut my computer down and spent hours troubleshooting and uninstalling ScreenConnect, which had been installed in multiple locations without my knowledge. Even after removal, my computer started showing weird pop-ups asking me to select an app to open links—something that NEVER happened before this support session. This is unacceptable. Customer support should know how to fix basic Wix Studio issues without causing major disruptions to a customer's computer. I would strongly warn anyone against letting Wix install anything on your system. This was an awful experience, and I expected much better from a company of this size. If you're considering Wix Studio, be extremely careful with their support team—they don't seem to know what they're doing, and worse, they might leave you dealing with serious technical issues that have nothing to do with your website. “0 stars”
Bought a domain because they tell you to buy it in order to publish your site. Guess what, it isn't that easy or that cheap. Once you buy a domain, you have to pay for a 'provider' or host, which could be wix or another site, but they don't tell you this up front. They are scamming people. Their customer service is robotic trash. Tip for consumers:Save your time and money Products used:They did not allow me to use the service I paid for because it was not as described. “Wix STEALS your money and then won't credit your account.”
I paid for a Core plan (annual) that renews May 2025. I decided that at the time of my renewal, I would like to downgrade to the Lite plan because I will no longer need the features in the Core plan. When I completed the downgrade, their system said that my account will downgrade to Lite May 2025. When I refreshed my account, it had already downgraded my site. I lost all of the features of the Core plan. No refund. No credit. I chatted with two of their reps asking them to simply put me back on the Core plan until I renew (as their website said would happen). I was told they could not do that. The first representative was no help. He had no clue what he was talking about so I ended that chat and started a new one. The second one advised me to request a refund. I did as I was told and it was denied. So, I have paid for a Core plan and they have me on a Lite plan and refuse to refund/credit me or put me back on the Core plan as before. I currently have event registration running on my account in which I have Facebook Ads promoting it. Because I'm on the Lite plan no one can sign up for my event unless I pay $87 to upgrade back to the Core plan. When I asked the representative, why do I need to pay again for the Core Plan when I've already paid for it, he had no answer. Service Value
“Buyer be ware”
The site co-owner died 2 weeks ago. I asked for a prorated subscription refund. As the site is not need and the current subscription ends 12/25. They continue to deny the request with no reason being given, even though it states on the website that you can request a refund if extenuating circumstances happen. Now they cancel the site but refuse to refund any of the money that I paid. This was the former site, https://www.cindyblackburncj.com/ Service Value Quality
“Glitchy”
After spending two weeks building a site, I get calls saying, "your site is off center." Its perfect from the Wix editor! I was very happy with Wix, but now I feel their engineers overlook correctible issues. I read its a "known issue" which requires me RE-DOING all my work in columns...which is complicated because columns screw up the mobile view! Similarly, there are other glitches like not being able to resize mobile sections and being stuck with huge gaps. I'm very frustrated but give it 2 stars for what it does well. Its buying a nice car that only has a problem with the windshield randomly shattering. Tip for consumers:na Products used:wix Value Quality
“Do not use Wix”
Wix is terrible - please do NOT build your site using them as they do not employ people who know what they are doing. In March/earlyApril '24 they did an update that broke my Wix bookings app which caused significant disruption and loss of income for my busy practice. I got the run around from customer service for 3 months! Absolutely no help at all and each time someone emailed me back, it was a new person who had no idea what had gone on previously making me have to repeat myself over and over. It's been months of literal hell dealing with customer care. They finally said the issue would be fixed and I would no longer have this issue after July. However that was not true as now 5 months later it is still broken, my customers aren't happy, and now I am doing a bunch of manual work every day because my bookings app doesn't fully function anymore and the most important automated function is broken. Instead of helping me or fixing the issue, they quoted their terms of service stating, "(section 14. Disclaimer of Warranties), We make no warranties regarding our services, including their quality, reliability, security, compatibility and conditions." It's unbelievable that instead of fixing the problem they created, they are quoting their terms, basically acknowledging that they provide unreliable and poor quality products to their paying customers and they don't care. What a crappy way to treat a 10 year customer whose business you screwed over with a crappy update. But, in their words, they can screw up and then let you suffer due to their "terms." As long as they are still cashing their checks I guess that's all that matters to Wix. Buyer beware! Tip for consumers:Do not use Wix, you’ll regret it Products used:Wix premium Service Value Quality
“They steal your money”
They steal your money! We started a website and we're excited for the oportunity as a small veteran owned business. After a move because of getting re-stationed, we have tried uncussesfully to get bank accounts changed and to contact customer service. They are holding almost 7,000.00 of our customers money and we can not get hold of them to refund the money or get it deposited to fulfill our customers orders. Multiple attempts to get resolution since the beginning of July have fallen on deaf ears. Web hosting is great, but DO NOT use them for any financial transfers or website orders. They will not send you your money.
“SCAM careful”
Are they for real? Watch this company, they hold my full month payment for 3 weeks and all I could hear is the Wix payment compliance team who needs to do the checks and approve, I had to hold all my life and bills for almost the full month. This is not the way you have to treat you clients after over 10 years using the platform. Be aware they control your money do not use this company. They have the costumer service attendants who will all say the same excuse and put the blame on the compliance team and tell you all WIX polices and no one will solve your problem. This company is a SCAM be very careful! Hope this will help people to avoid people struggling and suffering trying to get their own money paid. On top of it they will charge to receive money from your clients and 'process' and pay me! What a joke please pass on this is a SCAM company Tip for consumers:They control your payments do not use Products used:website builder Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Do not sign up for Wix”
#1 it's very expensive. #2 there is no way to contact a living person for disputes. #3 they have gone out of their way to put as many barriers as possible to cancel your account. Dealing with Wix is a nightmare. Just don't sign up. Tip for consumers:Transparency. The site (business) has installed layers and layers of complexity that is totally unneccasry. It seems designed to simply suck money out of people. Products used:none Service Value
“Wix will rip you off”
I have had a Wix website for about three years and had set up autopay through PayPal which was about $4.95 a month. On July 4th, 2024, in the dead of night, Wix and PayPal authorized a $756.00 payment through autopay with no notice and without my permission. This was money set aside to attend my father's funeral. It was such a shock, my world fell out from under me. I am a disabled woman and $756.00 is a lot of money for me. If you can get through their AI Bots, it's almost impossible to reach someone to talk to. I finally had a "chat exchange" and was told that the $756.00 payment was "non-refundable" but, that they would "make an exception" for me. I canceled my website and notified PayPal. Needless to say, Wix has not refunded my money and say that PayPal is holding it up through their "investigation." In the mean time, PayPal has instructed me to work with Wix to resolve the issue. Apparently, these two billion dollar companies really need my money as I struggle to get to California by August 3rd for my dad's funeral. I'm pretty sure that Wix uses Bots, as one of their email responses to me in regards to the funeral was, "I'm sorry you are missing something." Either they are Bots, or they are completely heartless. What a horrific, horrible experience. What a horrific company. Do the math. If they do this to even a 1000 people in the dead of night, they are making a lot! Check your bank accounts, folks. Wix and PayPal should not be allowed anywhere near your money. Tip for consumers:I would recommend that you not do business with this company. Products used:Website Service Value Returns
“Scam”
I generally use Wix because it was the first page I learned to use to make my website for free and I was very happy with it. But recently I was creating the site for one of my accounts and when the power to connect the domain appears, I get a pop up that says I can upgrade my plan or just buy the domain and connect it. Because it is cheaper and I only wanted the domain that is what I did and I bought it for 3 years, 75.75 dollars, and when I go to connect it I get another pop up that says that even if I have the domain the only way to connect it is by having the premium plan and that each plan comes with a year of free domain, so I lost 75 dollars and they forced me to end up using the annual plan anyway. This lack of clarity seems like a scam to me. The plans are overrated and the clarity of the page leaves much to be desired. Obviously no repairs and now I have to look for a new place since this one is a shame. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

Please do not be swayed by the low entry price. This is the WORST website creation service available. I have been trying to get my PAID FOR business email going and they STOPPED IT BEFORE MY END OF PAID DATE. I am done. Products used:business email Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Total Scam of A Company”
Stay far away from Wix. They will allow scammers to make purchases and still take their processing fees after the transactions are reversed due to the scammer using a stolen credit card. Wix makes you eat those fees and does nothing to protect their customers on their platform. Complete pile of crap. Tip for consumers:Dont waste your time with these scammers. “NOT remotely user-friendly”
I suspect that experienced web designers can do a lot on this platform. However, for someone who knows a little bit trying to handle her own this was an absolute nightmare. So-called "experts" who return your phone calls know less than I do about web design and how the site works. I could never get registration forms or payment plans to work properly. I spent hours and days trying different people and different departments, and only one person actually seemed to be able to figure things out, but even his solution didn't fully work in practice. I finally gave up and got help to move everything over to another platform and I'm MUCH happier. Do not use this platform if you might need help from them making it work. If you are a self-sufficient coder, it is probably fine. Tip for consumers:The fact that I spent an hour today just getting my credit card removed after I canceled my subscription tells you everything you need to know. I feel I should be entitled to a partial refund, but my time is worth more than the headache that would be. Products used:Web hosting Service Value Returns Quality
“WHAT A JOKE”
I was on hold for 4 hours today only to have the call drop at 3:59 minute mark when I was next in line. Same thing happened earlier this morning; next in line and call dropped. On hold for about 45 mins that time. This is my forth call back I have arranged via their service chat bot, because of course they do not provide a customer service number. Add another 2 hours for the time I spent yesterday trying to resolve this issue. That's about 7 hours of unpaid time wasted. I have 2 personal websites and 6 client websites all hosted on Wix. I'll will begin migrating all sites away from Wix when the subscriptions expire. Goodbye Wix and hello Shopify! Wix stock price has increased 232% since the low in March 2020. It would only make sense in that timeframe they'd double down on customer service. Instead they pump more money into advertising. What a joke. Based on the overwhelming negative reviews it's probably a good time to short this stock.
“Unannounced price increases”
Without notice, my annual fee jumped from just over $95 to $159. No documentation for price increase announced. Lady in customer service completed my refund request and said it may take 20 days. Less than two hours later, I got an e-mail denying my refund request.
“Wix is absolute garbage and their support team is worthless”
I have been struggling to build a site with Wix for over a month now. Their platform is so rudimentary and inefficient it blows my mind. I am accustomed to building sites with real software, not this crap. But my client wanted to try and save money. However, he could never afford to pay me for all the time I have wasted on the phone with their reps who cannot even answer my simple and appropriate questions. Yesterday I was told that the "advanced support team" would be calling me at 2:30 pm today to try and work out any "bugs" on their end. It's now 3:15. So I requested another phone call via the website. This last conversation was with a woman who barely speaks English. She put me on hold for 11 minutes while she tried to figure out what happened to my incoming called, and then the call was dropped! I am beyond frustrated with Wix and their customer service. If you want a functioning website, stay away!
“A Good Website for Startups like Me”
I started my blog/discussion forum (General Commentary) on Wix as an alternative to the thoughtless posts and comments on other social media platforms. Though I had to pay a few bucks and what-not, I was surprised at how easy it was to start up my website. I'm not even an expert at computers and I managed to do all of this. My website is not generating a lot of money, and only one person has read and commented on one of my posts. However, it was still a good user-friendly experience. I would rate Wix 5 out of 5 stars, but I decided on 4 because I'm cautious. Now if I could generate more views, comments, and money, that would merit 5 stars!

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:
How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.

* Business documentation that verifies your legitimacy (e.g., certificate of incorporation, business registration, or official records with the site or business name).
* Your personal LinkedIn profile and the business's social media accounts (e.g., Facebook).
* If available, proof of satisfied customers (e.g., screenshots, not just testimonials on your website), evidence of inventory, or records of handling order cancellations properly.
We’re more than willing to update your review based on the evidence you provide—the more proof, the higher your trust score. Please note, however, that we cannot verify non-operational websites or those redirected to other URLs. Additionally, we do not verify websites involved in high-risk financial services, gambling, adult content, or illegal activities.
Please send the following via email to [email protected].
