upromise.com Review

The Scam Detector website Validator gives upromise.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 82.7. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Reliable. Legitimate. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 82.7 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to upromise.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Reliable. Legitimate. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a reliable and secure website. But let's explain in more detail.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning upromise.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between upromise.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of upromise.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of upromise.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. upromise.com is an innocuous website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether upromise.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether upromise.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, upromise.com.

I LOVE THIS SITE AND THEY OFFER SO MUCH TO ALL AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY DO AS THEY SAY THEY WILL DO!!!....VERY LEGIT AND AWESOME SITE AND I DEFF RECOMMEND TO ANYONE AND ALL!!
Resolved my issue quickly for ticket number 14999400. I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FOR ANOTHER ISSUE I SENT ON THE SAME DAY!! I have not heard anything regarding the other issue.
I really like Upromise. I like that I actually receive money and I like the daily activities. Good job!
Surveys are a joke! Can spend hours being kicked to another that fits better…. What a waste of time!!!! Can’t complete a single one to earn. Will take forever to hit $100… im probably better off using other shop tools to earn cash back.
They have been extremely useful in couponing collecting cash back and most of all helping on all extra moneymaking opportunities. I’ve enjoyed this app a lot and to my surprise money falls from the sky every chance it gets. Thanks
Cash back rewards, fraud security process checks, no forex transaction charges
Upromise is atop of the elite and holding it's own and than some for its heavy activity in the app allowing the user to literally browse pick and choose at their dismay with an approach that is easy smooth and a bevy of options which to decide from make it an ultimate user friendly and more direct an individual given power of choice comfortbale stable more than any/most apps you can find out there offering a measley match to a upromise inferno. "When no one else can.... Upromise keeps theirs for you."
Upromise has great programs that help save for college. Their service is great.
Half the time the procedure for claiming a grocery receipt fails.
Easy to load my items. Better choices of those items than other platforms. Only question I have is how do I get money back for online purchases where I forgot to start with Upromise to place the order through?
It could not be easier to earn money for college or additional spending money. I have been using Upromise since it started and each month my earnings get transferred. I couldn't recommend it more. It adds up!
I joined uprmise about ten years ago and have used it whenever I remember to. 🥴 Even with sporadic use, I managed to accumulate almost $2,000. I have it auto transferred to a 529 plan for my children. It is super easy to use and every now and then I have money just show up for going out to eat at a restaurant that I didn't even realize paid a a upromise benefit. If I actually TRIED to earn money with them I could have tripled the number. Every penny counts with college and upromise basically paid for four years worth of books and supplies. Worth the effort for sure!
I was given a time limit on when my transfer of funds would take effect and it was accomplished as promised.
8 emails and still no resolution to changing my freaking phone number
I participate everyday with Upromise. I’m very appreciative that it’s offered. I do everything to save money.
I started Upromise when my child was 2 years old and was able to accumulate a nice savings by the time she attended college. As we all know, the cost of education is enormous and this definitely helped! It was so easy to do and you don't even realize how quickly and how much you have saved until you look. It was always fun to login and see your account grow. We now have a grandbaby and continue to save for him. I always tell everyone with kids about Upromise.
I completed a $410 Chime promotion and they did not pay out. All requirements were met, no adblock, and cookies enabled. They claim they were "unable to confirm proper tracking of this activity" despite screenshots.I have done offers like this through TopCashback and have had no issues. I would personally stay away.
Been with this company for years collecting my points for cash , saving for my child’s future ! You promise is just that for everything you spend you give it back to your child it s not thousands of dollars but it’s enough for when you’re in a pinch and the money I have collected I have given to my child for their graduation
received help i needed
I was able to quickly find what I needed and finish my online business, without searching. I didn't need to call for assistance or look frantically through different links as is sometimes the case on other sites. Quick in, update, depart!

“Stealing from families and students”

Like others have mentioned, this company steals your money. Reputable financial companies allow you to restore access to your account via permanent identifiers, such as SSN. This company does not and will in fact delete your account with your money in it even when you provide all past email addresses, phone numbers and addresses to restore it. DO NOT trust your money and your child's future with this company. They're one step above 419 scams - if even that. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Horrible - Stealing my money”

It is impossible to contact these people - they are suppose to transfer my money into my daughters 529 account every month. It has been a year and they have not moved my money over $1,400 - I have reached out to them through emails and they write back to me late night so I assume not in the USA telling me to try to link the account again. Then I don't hear from them for a day. So frustrating - I have filed a case with the CC Barclays Mastercard and I just filed a report with the CFPB. I hope to get my money back but whatever you do DO NOT USE UPROMISE. I feel scammed. Service

“False advertising”

Absolutely fascinating how upromise has mostly no issue with crediting me my one cent for grocery purchases and they tend to honor some of the online purchases that I make through their site as long as they're less than five dollars. Interestingly enough, they won't honor larger amounts. They recently had an offer of $200 if I opened a checking and savings account through SoFi Through the Upromise site, signed up for direct deposit, and made to direct deposits within 30 days of opening the account. I did all of that and provided proof. I reached out when it didn't show up in pending and they said oh gosh you know it takes some time for those to show up in pending, so I waited the allotted amount of time asked again and was told your request is being expedited. Then a week later I got a message saying sorry we can't verify that you actually did this. Even though I provided documentation exactly as they directed. Service Value

“Can't get Upromise rewards earned by using Upromise MasterCard for years.”

I've had the same problem. I have a Upromise MasterCard tied to my Upromise account, but I haven't been able to log into my account since before 2022. The last I knew, I had $173.60 in Upromise funds. The balance would be higher than that because I continued to use the credit card even after I couldn't log into my Upromise account. Because I couldn't log into my account, I had no way to redeem the funds. After many emails back & forth to Upromise tech support, they just quit responding. I think they just didn't want to pay out the rewards, and based on reviews I've read online, there are a lot of people in the same situation. I agree with others, there should be a class action lawsuit against Upromise. They block logins, which means they don't have to pay out rewards. I can't believe MasterCard has allowed this to happen! Service

“You Have Been Warned (October 5 2022 Request Still Not Resolved As of February 13,2023)”

You have been warned. Never again will I ever use this UPromise entity. Since October 5 2022 have been attempting to close my account and transfer the few remaining dollars to my linked bank checking account. In mid-November 2022 they confirmed all was set but as of today (January 4) the funds have not been transferred to me (as of February 13,2023). This follows several emails to customer service, i.e. December 21, November 21. The 800-customer service number is of no value. The recording lists website names. The option to select 0 for operator assistance is given but then you are told several times it is not valid. Just wanted people to be aware. Unfortunately I cannot give a rating lower than a 1 Star. Service Value Quality

“Upromise is worthless, it is a total joke - there are better options. The whole thing is a racket.”

Have had a Upromise MC since 2005 and being young thought this was a good idea to save for my newborn's college. Now I am trying to claim my cash back/rewards. Linked my bank account...did everything... Any and all phone numbers are recordings that loop and hang-up on you. You will never speak to a human being. help.upromise.com (where the phone call sends you) sends you to their joke of a website - where there is no place to submit a question. An now my account has been frozen and I cannot log into it... I have called Barclays as well - they cannot seem to get into contact with Upromise either, nor can anyone even tell me what my balance is - only the past year. I was told to go back through all my statements and add it up...If I could access the statements - I would. One would think the sum of your reward points would actually be on your statement. Find someplace else to save for your child's education. It's a racket. Tip for consumers:Find an alternative way to save for your child's college. UPROMISE is a joke Products used:UPPROMISE Service Value Quality

“Useless”

We set up an account when our daughter was 1 year old. She is 19 and going to college this fall. We started inquiring about all the savings we had accumulated during this time for college. Well, no one seems to know anything about it now...nothing!

“Do not entertain a Upromise credit card”

The idea of building up $$ for you Childress education sounds great, but do not waste you time as you will never see the money. Upromise never responses and Barclays claims they can not see the information. Probably have more than 8 hours trying to get our funds and still nothing. Total crooked operation! Tip for consumers:No tips to success that I have come upon yet Service Value Quality

“Bad services”

I tried to get my rewards money so called customer service phone on back of the master card. They said they do are not handle the rewards and gave me the number *******309) to call. I called the number and according the option I select '0' but it told me that is a 'invalid entry'. I tried several times and different days, the same result. I see there is request online so I emailed to them and the replied email let me call another number, I called again and the lady told me that she just deal 529 plan and let me wait, then finally hung up me. My advise --Do not touch any Promise product since you are NOT to get any service!

“They suddenly deactivated my account without any justification”

They suddenly deactivated my account without any justification after I had earned a considerable amount of money in rewards. They were audacious to the point that they deactivated my account RIGHT BEFORE the due date for the transfer to be made. No response from their customer support either. This website/company is a scam and there should be a class action initiated against it, so it can no longer rid people of their time and potential cash opportunities which could otherwise be realized elsewhere. BEWARE! Products used:cash back rewards

“It works... Sometimes”

To be clear, there are things that Promise does well and there things the site does poorly. It_should_ enable the user to earn rewards from various activities (shopping, applying for credit cards, opening accounts) and when a $50 total is reached, transfer that out to a 529. In practice, the rewards aren't always recorded correctly. We applied through the Upromise website for a UPromise credit card. The site transferred me to Barclays bank's site to finish setting up the card. Guess what,Upromise still prompts me to apply for the card and no reward has been given for having done so. That's piss-poor technology and there's not a way to contact someone to rectify the issue. From this experience I don't have high hopes that the rest of my transactions will be recognized. That's disappointing because the potential for this site is very good. But I suppose I should be wary of getting something for nothing. Tip for consumers:To get anything out of it you need to commit to earning at least $50 worth of rewards which may require, at 1%, $5000 of relevant purchases. Products used:The Upromise account is an online service. There's not a product. Service Value

“Major Issues”

I am unable to sign into my UPromise account that I held for decades. UPromise customer service claims they cannot find the account. They indicated that it may have been deactivated due to inactivity. They said my money would have gone to state treasury. My money is not there. I lost about $1800 in credits. Service

“I saved for over a decade...complete scam”

Had enough to transfer but delayed the 529 creation. FINALLY they said they will just allow checking accts. But suddenly they say all my money was moved to a 529! REALLY? Because I dont have one! I have written endless tickets, no response. NO PHONE CONTACT. Such a horrible company

“BEWARE THIS COMPANY”

I first signed up for Upromise in 2000 when my niece was born. My brother's family earned nothing from my "participation" in this program. I rejoined when my daughter was born last year. Even though I've bought over $1000 in restaurant meals using my registered CC, I have earned ZERO points. And they sell your info unless you opt out. This is a huge scam and I don't recommend it to anyone except fellow suckers.

“Scam”

Beware! They steal your money and don't actually transfer it to your 529. I've sent 6 tickets and 10 Facebook messages and still have no resolution 10 days later. According to their site, my transfers have been going through since 2020. And their phone number is a joke. They say to press 0 for an operator then it says invalid response. Service Value Quality

“Aged into retirement while on hold with the customer service department”

They never answer their "Customer Service" line. Have attempted several times and never had the fortitude to outlast their wait times. Today's 5. 15. 2020 personal record for me was 2 hours and 22 minutes before the line dropped. I called back and am sitting at 32 minutes and counting with no real hope of talking to anyone. Just doing the science experiment while on hold leaving online reviews to see if the customer service line is even a real thing. I helped put 3 kids through college and can't get my money earned from them for my 4th child. Do not get this card unless you enjoy smooth jazz on hold and the same recorded message while you say goodbye to your money.

“Not worth the time”

Signed up years ago earned over $300. Just left it sitting there till I wanted it. Then went to their site did all that was required of me to get money transferred 3 weeks before end of the month, they transfer the first week of the month. Transfer didn't go through and no response or an remedy to get situation fixed. Basically we are investigating why transfer didn't happen but not satisfaction, just wait till next month. In this age of being able to move money in seconds they can't do anything. Don't was your time folks nothing but a scam to hold the funds you earn as long as possible. Tip for consumers:Best tip is do not waste your time. You can find plenty of rebate programs that are actually responsive and have solutions to customer issues.

“For the most part I'm happy with Upromise”

For the most part I'm happy with Upromise. It's a nice way to earn free cash back, even when you are redeeming a deal or coupon on the merchant site. You have to get used to it at first. Finding where to register your credit cards on the site isn't all that intuitive. In my opinion Ebates is an easier experience, but I still like Upromise. If you link it to direct deposit into your SallieMae savings account they also provide a 10% annual match bonus.

“Cash back not awarded”

Apparently the online merchant can just decide that you don't qualify for cash back even when you follow all of their rules (clicking through their link, staying on that tab ect.). Customer service literally takes 3 months (won't do anything for the first 2 months if cash back isn't awarded, then they take another 30 days to research your report). What a scam. Ebates is the only way to go for a cash back site. I am closing my account.

“Zero stars - Rewards don't stay posted. Terrible customer service”

I have made repeated purchases at Upromise that post when I make the purchase, but then are removed for no reason. I kept copies of seven months of orders with a single food vendor, proving these purchases. All the rewards initially posted, then showed up as negative a month later. When I shared this information with customer service, they responded with a canned answer saying that I must be using coupons or exchanging or returning items. I have the credit card receipts and order history to prove that these items were never returned, and that no coupons were used. They absolutely refuse to admit there is an issue on their end. It's not worth the effort.

“Not only did it close and ruin my score They sent me a check and it bounced”

Bank of America close my account with my you promise points for no reason. Which totally ruined my credit score because it was my longest standing account over 17 years. Not only did they say they can't continue the account I would have to open another one which still would ruin my score. But when this happened with other cards they reinstated it right away. So I don't know what the problem is with this company. And then I finally get my Upromise money, And just found out that the check bounced in my account and was charged another fee on top of that! Don't get messed up with these people!

“Seems Pretty fishy to me”

We started a Upromise account when my oldest was around 2. He is 19 now. Many family members joined and directed their earnings to my Son who is now 19. He started College this Fall and I wanted to see what 17 years of using the program would provide. They simply said they could not find my account. Thats IT! Sorry Dude, the 17 years you and your Family made contributions and interest just went Poof. No Account, no help. It would make a really interesting 60 Minute investigation though. Hmmm?

“Do no buy through Upromise”

Horrible experience. Purchased close to $1000 though Upromise in December through multiple stores. Only one cash back was paid. Had to spend much time emailing and sending proof of purchase receipts. Still no cash back. This is not the first time I've had to do this with them. There are too many other cash back sites that payout in a reliable manner. This company is close to a scam. Do Not Use. Tip for consumers:Don't use Products used:one store Service Value Quality

“Followup”

As a result of my initial negative review (1 star), I got a response from management and later their customer service department. The problem has been rectified, and my rewards now post seamlessly to a checking account. I still give them only 4 stars because I initially was given short shrift by their customer service department and could not get to talk to a human.

“Missing rewards found”

I contacted CFPB and the company located the missing rewards, and they now show up on the dashboard. Thank you to all. Tip for consumers:Contacting the bank's office of the president and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau resulted in location of the rewards. Products used:Rewards program for credit card Service Value

Top 5 Effective Ways To Spot a Scam Website [VIDEO]

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.

Our staff verifies that this service works and is trustworthy. For robust, essential protection, their Standard plan is a steal at just $8.29 for individuals, and you can extend that crucial peace of mind to your entire household with the Family plan (up to 5 users) for only $16.49. They also introduced the Unlimited plan starting from $14.99 that covers not only automatic data removals, but also unlimited custom removals available right away upon purchasing the Unlimited plan. It allows users to submit websites not yet covered by Incogni and get their data removed from there, too. They also offer a free exposure scanner that will give you an insight into what data of yours is exposed and where.
