travel.state.gov Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives travel.state.gov the absolute highest trust score on the platform: 100. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Safe. Secure. . We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same issues. So, why this very high score? We came up with the 100 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to travel.state.gov's industry. The algorithm detected no high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Safe. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we label this website as secure and trustworthy. We explain this in more detail below.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning travel.state.gov, let's dive deeper into the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between travel.state.gov and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of travel.state.gov. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of travel.state.gov, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. travel.state.gov is a secure website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether travel.state.gov has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether travel.state.gov boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, travel.state.gov.

Thank you, for the processing and renewal of my passport book and card. Even though the hiccups the transparency was helpful and appreciated.
Applied for a passport online through their pilot program 6 weeks ago. Paid for expedited processing which should have been 3-5 weeks and still haven't received an update on my passport & my travel is upcoming. Their customer service reps are useless and I helpful because they're not able to see anything in the system. Now I'm left having to wait 2 weeks before my travel date to submit an in person passport request because of these the incompetence & laziness that is this department. Sad and pathetic they're.
Passport expedited services within 7 weeks was well worth the extra fee's and shipping price. I received my Passport in the expedited timely manner that i was told it would take, actually a little sooner than I thought 🍀For anyone planning a trip and need assistance quickly with expedited US Passports this is the way to get it done. I'm very pleased with your service and recommend it to all who read my review.💫
I paid expediting fees for 5 passports 4 came after 2.5 months and 1 never came until 3 months stating a it needed redo a signature..I did exactly what they asked and sent it back with the prefilled envelope that was attention to Celeste, F . For application 686905726 still no response and it’s still not updated in the system that it’s received! The customer service number is awful a 2-3 hour wait with people that don’t seem to know anything and are extremely rude ! So are the supervisors! No appointments available ever even if your flying out in 2 weeks or within 72 hrs. This is very draining and depressing now one of my minor has no passport to travel with the rest of his family ..we’ve already rescheduled our trip one time and paid ofcourse a lot more money and I’m just sad that any business would operate like this ! COVID or not this is beyond unacceptable!
It is beyond INSANE that COVID restrictions have been lifted and you still have to make a freaking appointment online. Its all crazy that you can live in west virginia and they attempt to give you an appointment in arizona
Had to give one star to be able to leave a review. As far as I can tell, this website is not legitimate for renewing a passport on line. We paid to have my husbands passport expedited. Three months later, we are still waiting and our out of country trip is two weeks away. The on line status continues to say it is “processing.” Do not waste your time with this on line agency. My neighbor went through the post office three months ago and received her passport in one month. This agency is a rip off. They took our money to expedite his passport but, didn’t hold up their end. Now we are out money AND we still don’t have a passport and now will lose thousands on a planned trip. BUYER BEWARE.
in need of passport urgently? department of state is your go to!just need to take your itenerary, application & i.d & passport pic. you can get get it same day cause i did! i went to the one in San Francisco California
This website contains excellent updated information regarding many different countries. This information is useful for people who want to travel and cross country borders. I have been using this website for eight years, and I like it a lot. I have been to 17 countries. At the time of this review, this website also has links for US embassy websites which have updated covid 19 information. This includes info regarding testing requirements, vaccine requirements, travel restrictions, and other info related to covid 19. There is a different covid 19 page for each country. This information has been extremely useful to me. And this information is free for anyone in the world who has an internet connection.
Someone has got to stop this completely inept system. The first time it really hit me how corrupt the country is and my hard earned $$$ are feeding crooks. It does no help to call. It does no good to expedite. The website is broken most of the time I try to log in and get an update. No one knows anything, I get routed round, 3 1/2 hour phone wait time. First call says no issues. Everything ok. Next call a person tells me an issue with my photo and don't complain or she won't help, third person says no issues. Blue envelope next to my id? No, hmmm. we don't know. You're just SOL. Not going out of the country any time soon.
This has been a joke and a nightmare I renewed my passport by mail in April and then decided to expedite my passport because my sister and I had a humanitarian trip to do for a lady in Romania that needed help so June 23rd was the date. I expedited my passport on May 10th got a email back that they would try to process within 72hrs…did not happen I called June 13th now I literately have 10days she took my name date if travel and card info and informed me I should get my passport the 21st if no one contacts me by the 15th call of course wait times are over and hour I could not reach anyone till the 16th and got the most rudest curt person who just said there are no appointments…apparently to go to a place to expedite which was never explained. So no help I call the next week still no help and are the chances I get the same rude person by then it’s past the 23rd and I can leave on the 26th… she proceeds to tell me the systems are down call back in an hour. Well I missed my flight my sister was able to go so now I’m out of money and a ticket and a passport. You people suck there’s no accountability and you lie about email updates for your passport…get off your bottoms and get these passports mailed out or give at least partially our money back …makes no sense to spend that type of money for a RENEWAL!!! And no communication! Not happy!!!!
This has been a nightmare. I went to a Fed Ex store to renew my passport. I thought it was so convenient, and that my passport would arrive in plenty of time. Two weeks later, it started to be maddening as I got emails saying the check amount that Fed Ex told me to write was wrong, and I needed to sign 2 more places. After the website didn’t work, I actually talked to a customer service person who admitted the site was usually not working, and she told me how to tweak it to print off the application to re-sign. I fed ex’d those forms to somewhere in Florida with my identifying info. Then 2 weeks later I received an email that said my passport is unfinished and to log in to finish it. The site never works. I can’t log in. I’ve called numerous times and have been on hold for over an hour. When I finally reached someone, they are rude and can’t help me. Some even transfer my cell to someone they say can help me, and I have to wait another hour, and that person can’t help me. The runaround is a ploy to kick the can down the road - they don’t care. Now I’ll have to declare my passport lost and travel to a passport agency. I’m out $600. I will dispute the charges, but that money is probably not recoverable. This agency is despicable. Who is in charge??? My advice is to go to the post office or if you’re lucky to live near a passport agency, then go there. Don’t waste your time and money dealing with this inept agency. I still can’t figure out who is behind this scam. It’s a shame Fed Ex uses them to process passports. I felt better reading the scathing reviews because at least I know I’m not alone.

“WHY CAN'T YOU RENEW YOUR PASSPORT ONLINE?”
The renewal process is extremely outdated and difficult. It currently requires physical printing on regular and glossy paper and snail mailing forms across the country and takes 18 weeks to renew. In-person appointments are reserved only for emergencies. Please make an online renewal form! This could make things easier for applicants as well as government workers.
“Lazy employees on organized company”
These people were not able to assist me my date of travel is this coming Thursday, July 7 I've called them over 10 times and no one was able to help me everyone except for one customer service guy was able to find my application and he swore he emailed the agency to expedite my passport, but I doubt that he did so. You guys suck and all the people that work for you suck too. I hope enough of these one star ratings will get you guys closed down because you're not assisting with anything. “Lost my child passport, but cashed my check.”
It's impossible to call them. Nobody pick up the phone. Rude customer service. Pretend they didn't receive an application, but cashed my check that was in the same envelope and lost my child old passport. Nobody knows how to help. Hire new people who wants to work. Lazy workers that not help. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“AWFUL!”
Passport renewal is taking forever and to make things worse nobody picks up my calls and the website keeps crashing. They answered my call 1 time and then I'm supposedly transferred to another agent but wait time is 2.5 hours! Info on their site had 3-5 weeks if expedited then went up to 5-7 weeks but still no passport or any clue of when it will be ready. To make things worse I wasted a lot of money on fees to make them expedite my passport and still they are way past due.Shame on you for offering 3rd world service level!
“Terrible Support”
I have been trying to contact these people for two days. I have made 5 separate calls just to put be on hold for 2 hours just to get rude customer support and cut my call shortly in less than 5 minutes. I have a family emergency needed to tend to out of country and I might not be able to attend to in time. Why can I just not simply renew my passport online or email instead of having to wait for hours on hold!? Service
“Scam site.”
Submit application and no answer, After went to post office myself, and they told me it is just a scam. You have to go physical to postoffice or e. T. c. To submit all needed documents per person, Not and NEVER online. This web site just stoled your identity. Super angry for it.
“Just like the rest of the government...”
Trying to access your own account is pointless... I really wonder why I pay taxes at all...this does not encourage the fragment of loyalty I ever had in my government before.
“Disgrace”
We expedited our passport 8 weeks ago and it is not even processed. We've spent one week one hold to get two calls through and nothing changed. This is a disgrace. Service
“Second interest”
Very good and help to change ur life within a minute. It has help a lot of people around the globe and really appreciate it thanks. Tip for consumers:It is really a good site ever had Products used:Sheos” Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Not essential?”
So many things they can still process in this crisis many documents to process no need to have the applicant at the office. So come on stop with the nonsense of covid 19, they process payment very quick to send your documents very slow and delay of few months unfair.
“Disaster. Too good to be true.”
Placed my renewal order on 1/11 with travel coming up on 4/29. Based on their timeline, I had plenty of time to get this done. 4 weeks passed before they even changed the status to 'in progress'. Now it's 3/17, no updates, and no status. I spent over 5 hours on hold one day to be told they didn't have any updates for me. The call volume is too high everyday, so I'm not sure what to do next. I guess I have to go in to USPS now and do an expedited process? And pay more money? This is so confusing. Service is terrible, and really nonexistent. Spare yourself the stress, and physically go in. This is a complete nightmare, and just another example of how incompetent our government really is. FIX IT OR DON'T OFFER IT. “14 WEEKS AND STILL WAITING OUR EXPEDITED RENEWAL PASSPORT!”
Another follow up to my review dated 3/15/23. We continue to wait, now 14 weeks into our on- line passport renewal. We paid to expedite and when that fell through we submitted the on line request for a refund at least 6 weeks ago. We still can not get anyone to assist us via email or phone. Our on-line status continues to say "in process" as it has since DECEMBER 2022. We got a technician on the phone this morning who wouldn't even look up our application. He told us repeatedly, if the status on our on-line account says "in process," everything must be ok. SERIOUSLY? ITS BEEN SINCE DECEMBER. We have no idea what is going on, we lost money on travel in March and we are being PREVENTED from any travel because absolutely no-one is willing to type in our application and request ID numbers and see what happened with our application. We have not received any emails or notifications that anything is wrong but still can't get answers. However, their website continues to advertise both routine and expedited passport processing times less than what we have already waited. Service
“Worse service ever...”
They lose application, the charge money... they procrastinate... stuff that would not even happen in a 3rd world, country... God help us, have mercy on us, and God bless America Tip for consumers:Lord have mercy ... Products used:No passport ... they are very quick at taking your money only Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“THIS IS THE WORST OF ANY AGENCY 100% OF THE TIME”
I am renewing a heavily used passport. The passport lead times are ridiculous and this is being nice. I have already had to cancel two trips and another trip coming in two weeks. Expedited service is like dealing with a drug dealer. You pay almost $100.00 to get no guarantee that anything will be expedited. You have to cut and paste an email and than add your charge card information to an email. This is 1990 technology and we wonder why identities get stolen. Once they receive your document, mine took 9 weeks, and after reviewing your documents the site states it might take 6 more expedited weeks to package your new passport and an additional 6 weeks to mail it. This is the expedited service Tip for consumers:Pan on 6 months or more Products used:Its a passport Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“This country is so broken.”
The government employees are so unwilling to help people or do there jobs in a timely manner. They have forgotten who pays there salaries. It is so unfortunate that someone Sitting behind a desk on a computer can cause so much stress for another person and try To upset someone's vacation or plans. Some of the rudest people.
“FRAUD DO NOT BUY”
YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR PASSPORT HERE! IT IS A SCAM AND YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY AND GIVE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO THESE SCAMMERS! “Toast tries to get a Passport.”
Before I jump into this, I must let the customer in on a few facts: A) I was born in the Canal Zone in the early 70's to a military family. B) Both Mother and Father are born in the U.S. C) I was a military veteran of 5 years, honorably discharged. D) 18 year law enforcement officer. E) No legal issues at present or the past. F) All money was paid up front. G) I had in my possession a valid drivers license, social security card, a birth certificate, and a certified copy of my certificate of live birth. What I will tell you is this. When you deal with the State Department prepare to dig in for a VERY LONG ordeal. The process is a shining example of just how broken our government agencies really are. You will be forced to endure and witness incompetency as well as a broken website. I will challenge any reader to find me a specific telephone number to a State Department Office. The have only one (1) main number and it takes you to a contractor. If you must send additional documentation as I did after being thoroughly vetted by the US Postal Service (Explain that one to me please,) You then begin to play the waiting game. If you were lucky enough to ring the bell the first time out, good on you! I was not so fortunate. I was told I needed additional documentation. Long story short and $238.78 bucks later, I still am nowhere near closer to receiving my passport. The process began on February the 10th of this year, and continues today. The government loves other peoples money, but does not have the ability to operate this bureaucratic monstrosity. Only advice I can give is, bring a lot of patience. I pray you weren't born abroad or you are in for a very mind numbing maze of paperwork. See my review of the Social Security Card for further adventures of, "Toast tries to get a replacement Social Security Card."

Top 5 Effective Ways To Spot a Scam Website
There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a
fraudulent website in 2024:
How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
