Actually,I was So Upset & Angry I was Crazy Mad .... I called SPOKEO because My (.95 or $1.00) one Week Trial Offer had turned into $29.99 (my Credit Union messaged Me at 3:00AM)... I had to wait for SPOKEO to Open and a very Nice Young Lady took charge & managed to Calm Me down (that's Nearly impossible). She let Me know that No Matter what the Issue She would Handle it... The whole time She was able to convince Me that SPOKEO was a good & Reputable Company (meantime I'm telling Her that Ken Paxton, Attny Gen. -Texas gets Real Upset when a Recent Widow, Senior Citizen complains).... didn't faze Her, She continued crediting & Fixing & Apologizing for the Error... And when She finished Explaining it All, I was back to having Good Feelings about SPOKEO. This Young Lady always was loyal to them no matter what I said... I remember asking 'if I need to call back, will You be There ? How long have You worked there ?... 4 years she said, So, I knew that She Really liked Her Job and Hopefully They realize the Treasure She is.... And She Should be in charge of Showing everyone the True Meaning of Customer Service. Gold Stars on her File!

I wanted to contact a friend I had lost track of and took advantage of what I understood to be a free, 7-day trial on Spokeo for .95. I received an email from Spokeo saying I'd subscribed to 3 months for $29.85, a fee that would automatically renew. I was shocked, livid, had no idea how that had happened, and emailed them, expecting nothing. But they were kind, understanding, and refunded me! I was shocked and so grateful! I couldn't have asked for a better response. Spokeo has integrity.
I paid for one search costing 95 cents. I had no idea that they signed me up for a "trial" that would convert to a subscription. A month later they charged me for one month's service. I had not done any searches after the one search I did for 95 cents. They refused to issue me a refund for the monthly amount, offering me less than half of the $30 fee. For doing absolutely nothing. You will notice that the reply below, full of flowery language, confirms that I can't get a refund even though I used the service once, paid 95 cents and immediately called them when I realized that they had charged me for a subscription I never, ever, used. The fact that they pushed a button to bill me isn't value-added. They should have offered a complete refund. Elder abuse.
I was able to check a number & make sure it wasn’t a scam. I was afraid to do a transaction with a person until I checked to see if it was legitimate. The customer service representative was helpful as well. I will use them again if needed.
I purchased spokeo in hopes to prove or disprove my partners faithfulness. Looking for any hidden profiles or dating apps I should know about. And unfortunately spokeo was unable to provide not a single profile he has on any platform... And he is definitely on a few. So what's up with that.. if you can't find the things I know of.. then it was a wasteeeeee of my money and time...
I think Spokeo is as good as it can be, but in the end it can only access public record which anyone can get. Spokeo just makes it a little easier, so it has value, but not on an ongoing basis.

As was the case with so many other dissatisfied reviewers, I too was mislead into believing that the $.95charge for one look-up was only fee with which I would be charged. All I could think of was that those words must be quite easy for her to say as she must have to go through this process very, very frequently. It’s a shame that people have no shame…. I had used Spokeo to look up current addresses and contact info for friends and family members, and found it to be an excellent and up-to-date tool.I had to take off a star, however, because my account page only showed the cancellation of a 7 day trial from earlier years, and not one that I had, subsequently set up. I, therefore,was not expecting the auto-withdrawals that were accumulating at $24.95 per month. The first level customer service rep brushed me off, however, though I had to press the issue, the supervisors were quite helpful and courteous and refunded a large percentage of those charges. So - PLUS Column - for an excellent tool and readily available customer service with helpful supervisors. MINUS - that, as many have noted, the "quiet subscription" can incur ongoing monthly auto-withdrawals with no email notifications!
Spokeo provided the information I needed with an effortless, efficient search. The customer care agent I later contacted to cancel my subscription was very well spoken, polite and efficient (his name was Tyler).

Do not give spokeo your information! I tried to pay for the 1 dollar fee but it gave me a message that said the transaction was not able to go through. I shrugged it off thinking it was nothing, but I check my bank account the next day and I was missing 350 DOLLARS. I called my bank and they helped me get my money back, but that still means that someone out there has 350 dollars now. Be careful out there!

I looked up people I know to see how accurate this is. I'd give it 0/10. Addresses were ALL outdated to when they were living with their parents at least 4-10 years ago. Email was often 10+ years old and belonging to another household member. Financial information, when actually available, was for the household, a guess, for the wrong person, or just wrong. It doesn't offer ANY court or criminal records, no jobs, no social media that's actually correct. What DOES it tell you? Their full name, family members, old addresses, and phone number. Sometimes e-mail, but rarely accurate. You know, everything that you can find for free online. My ex hasn't lived with his dad in 6+ years, but Spokeo thinks that he does. No mention of living with his mom for 2 years. This service is worth less than 1 star.
