Top 5 Effective Ways To Spot a Scam Website [VIDEO]

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.

Our staff verifies that this service works and is trustworthy. For robust, essential protection, their Standard plan is a steal at just $8.29 for individuals, and you can extend that crucial peace of mind to your entire household with the Family plan (up to 5 users) for only $16.49. They also introduced the Unlimited plan starting from $14.99 that covers not only automatic data removals, but also unlimited custom removals available right away upon purchasing the Unlimited plan. It allows users to submit websites not yet covered by Incogni and get their data removed from there, too. They also offer a free exposure scanner that will give you an insight into what data of yours is exposed and where.

After testing several fraud prevention products online, we could certainly say the winner is a browser extension called Guardio. It automatically blocks 100x more harmful websites than competitors and 10x more malicious downloads than any other security tool. It was tested and vetted by our Scam Detector team.

Guardio has over a million users, and while it is already affordable for the benefits it provides (just a few dollars a month), it covers up to 5 family members. How To Stop Third Parties From Tracking Your Devices

The second most powerful fraud prevention tool you should consider is Surfshark. Here is why you should get it now, as the first 5 months are free:

  1. They have an award-winning VPN service, protecting your privacy and preventing third parties from tracking your device.
  2. They will notify you when your personal info is leaked online so you can delete your private data from the Internet immediately.
  3. Surfshark has a super powerful antivirus program. It offers you effective protection from viruses and zero-day threats, a lightweight, clean, and easy-to-use app, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

It's a scam The way the scam works is you have to pay between $300 and $8000 to SoBuy to get a "VIP" membership so that you can "work" for them. To pay for VIP membership, you have to transfer the aforementioned fee to SoBuy via cryptocurrency (at this point it really should be obvious it's a scam). Once you're a VIP, you can supposedly make up to $144,000 per year performing trivial "tasks" (pretending to buy products from online retailors and writing fake reviews for these products). Eventually you will try to cash out your "earnings" and there will be some sort of problem. Maybe you've been paying for "VIP" in installments and they claim they won't release funds until you finish paying off your installments. Curiously, you won't be able to pay off these installments with the money you "earn" through their website. Alternately, maybe you paid in full and they claim there is a delay or maybe you need to upgrade to an even higher, super secret VIP level that costs even more money. Either way, whatever money you've sent them is gone for good and you'll never be able to withdraw more than a tiny amount of your "earnings". SoBuy has already prepared for being called out as scammers and claim that there are other companies that pretend to be them that run scams. I can assure you that the SoBuy you're in contact with is a scam, there is no sane reason why you should need to pay money to get work.

------------------------------------------------------------------------ What is the SoBuy Scam ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The SoBuy scam is a pyramid scheme where people are required to pay between $300 - $8000 to attain VIP status 1 – 4. This VIP status allows users to cash out $15 - $400 per day by performing trivial tasks for a few minutes each day.  ------------------------------------------------------------------------ How does the scam work?  ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The scam is initially financed through the money generated by people purchasing VIP levels. As people generate money through their VIP status, they are encouraged to recruit other people into the pyramid scheme so that they can earn a small extra % of all money generated by their recruits.   As many people that entered into the pyramid at the early stages seem to think they’ve discovered a free money glitch, they show off all the money they’re making and recruit more and more people who in turn recruit more and more people. Eventually the pyramid’s growth slows and the scammers have built a large reserve of money from all the VIP plans purchased by the people at the bottom of the pyramid. The scammers then “pull the rug” and prevent anybody in the pyramid from cashing out their money. By definition, most people in a pyramid scheme lose most or all of their initial investment, although it is possible to actually earn more money than your initial investment if you got in early. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ How do I know SoBuy is a scam?  ------------------------------------------------------------------------ With all due respect, if you seriously think that a few minutes of trivial work each day is actually valuable enough to justify paying you up to $400 a day then you are not very bright. There is no sane reason why SoBuy wouldn’t just pay kids in some third world country $1 a day to perform these tasks and then keep all the profits for themselves. The fact that SoBuy also only accepts payment in cryptocurrency should be an obvious red flag that they are trying to operate outside of the legal system where they could be held accountable for their actions.  ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I already purchased a VIP level, what should I do? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Depending on how early you got into the scam, you can potentially recover some of your initial investment or even make a profit. Just try to complete your tasks every day and cash out your profits every day. For the love of god, don’t recruit anybody else into the scam though. The longer this scam goes on, the riskier it is for new recruits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Will SoBuy block me from withdrawing my funds after a while if I don’t recruit anybody? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Honestly I’m not sure. It would probably be the intelligent thing for them to do as you are just leeching off the pyramid scheme instead of contributing to it. I’d be very interested to hear from anybody that has been blocked from making withdrawals prior to the rug pull. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SoBuy seems to be a legitimate company that has products on Amazon! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SoBuy presumably stole the name of this company but is run by an entirely different set of people. It’s also possible that the amazon SoBuy is a legitimate branch of the scam, although I think this is unlikely. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ When will the rug be pulled? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It could be as early as March 21st which would give the scam a lifetime of 3 months. It is unlikely the rug won’t have been pulled by May 21st as this would give the scam a lifetime of 5 months. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SoBuy blocked me from withdrawing funds, what can I do? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There is nothing you can do other than try to learn from the fact that you made a really dumb mistake. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Are there other scams like SoBuy?  ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yes, you can google “Freecit”. The scam started on the 13th of September, 2021 and the rug was pulled around the 15th of February, 2022, thus giving it a lifetime of ~5 months.
