rakuten.com Review

The Scam Detector website Validator gives rakuten.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 83.6. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 83.6 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to rakuten.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning rakuten.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between rakuten.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of rakuten.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of rakuten.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. rakuten.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether rakuten.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether rakuten.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, rakuten.com.

Overall a great site to save money when buying items online. There are rare occasions where cash back is not applied, but it's very easy contacting Customer Service to get it resolved.
I used Rakuten in the past with no issues. I don't know if they're backed up or what's going on but I have cash back from just TEMU (nothing close to expensive or luxury). I made at least 8 orders since October and ALL of them are still pending which leads me to think that it'll eventually get rejected.I also have one from a big Bloomingdales purchase during Black Friday and I had to contact Rakuten a week later to confirm that shopping trip. They approved it but that's also "pending". This never happened in the past.
Easy to use with browser reminders & an awesome C/S response team. Your going to shop & buy on line anyway, why no just use the Rakuten browser extention to save & get a few extra bucks back for doing nothing more than shopping. If there is ever a case where your Rakuten Cash Back & Deals aren't applied, just contact the great staff at Rakuten C/S. I was thankful to have Rhiannon M as my representave, to help to make sure that my reward was credited. If your not using Rakuten yet, I suggest you do, to get money back just for shopping.
You can't go wrong with Rakuten! Rakuten has an uncanny ability to have a good deal just when I need one. Our family's most recent purchase was for a Sam's Club membership, and Rakuten had a fabulous discount to go along with it. Previous to that, I got a great deal from Rakuten from my annual subscription to Ancestry.com. I highly recommend Rakuten for these slightly unusual choices, as well as their vast number of retail connections. I always consult Rakuten whenever I'm shopping online.
I always get my cash back within a very reasonable time. I've never had any issues with Rakitin. They send out my check and it comes in a reasonable time as well.
I LOVE how easy it is to earn cash back on Rakuten!! I hate that you have to go through the Rakuten links because I often shop on a whim and would love for Rakuten to just review my card purchases and give me rewards based on that. However, I LOVE being able to earn such great rewards on their offers when I do remember!!
I absolutely love Rakuten, I started using the app years ago when they were Ebates. Whenever I shop online I go to Rakuten first, I have accumulated $382 cash back over the years, and would have gotten a lot more if I didn’t occasionally forget; although that’s not a lot of money, I look at it as a savings, as high as things are nowadays, any time you can get cash back it’s a great thing; I look forward to those quarterly checks. What’ll you have to lose, I say give it a try 😃
Rakuten is a great way to receive cash back on many, many purchases through a variety of sellers and companies. You just have to activate Rakuten if you are shopping on-line and can even use Rakuten if you are physically shopping in a store. It's really great! You will not be disappointed.
I have been using Rakuten since they were ebates. Never a problem, and the extension is a great tool.
Rakuten gives cash back on most stores. Plus sometimes there are double and triple cash back days. Their cash back is given quarterly and they do not disappoint. You can either get this directly deposited via PayPal or receive a check. Recently received $3 cash back for spending $30 at CVS
Automatically pop out from the corner to remind when shopping from any website without worrying if I forgot to add the cash back or better deals. Need not worry and no further questions/junks or leads to another website or App in order to get better deals or cash backs.
Rakuten does all the “grunt” work. After selecting Rakuten and the company I want to order from I am immediately directed, select my item/items I want to purchase, order and then Rakuten immediately keeps me informed as to when I will receive credit for the purchase. I always know what my credit balance is and when I will receive my check. Great company.
ENjoy shopping with Rakuten. The only issue I have is that for some reason certain things that I buy do not always end up getting credit for those purchases. I do not know if I am doing something wrong or it is just missing the connection.
SOOO EASY!! I so appreciate the easy of shopping and getting money back with Rakuten. I have other cash back/points accounts, but none as easy as Rakuten. It literally is as easy as 1 extra click when shopping and then checking my mail box for the periodic checks. Love it!
I make a habit of looking on Rakutan first. I don't change my shopping habits but rather the pathway to how I shop. I also wait for sites like Macy's to go UP on their cash back because I know they have a good program that fluctuates the percentage back.I use Rakutan for gift giving as well. I can get something slightly nicer given the money I save. The money adds up pretty quickly even with small cash back offers.
I do a little dance whenever I shop through Rakuten. The rewards add up quickly & that check is always a nice surprise. I can’t say enough about the place! They have so many stores available, I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed with the choices. From the biggest stores & brands to small businesses, it’s easy & reliable finding what you need. Rakuten is even a good place to just browse. I was recently looking at flowers to send for a funeral. I had NO idea what they would like, if I wanted them delivered, or take them myself. I looked at every florist on the site & learned a lot. It really helped to have all the info so I could organize my thoughts.
I love using Rakuten, I click the link when Im shopping online and I earn moeny for shopping online......earning FREE MONEY!!!! In this day and age everyone is shopping online, so you just do one click and shop and your earning! THANK YOU RAKUTEN!!!!
For the most part I find Rakuten great and easy to use. It was probably my fault but I did not understand before I go and shop at stores in person that I still have to pull up a coupon even though my Credit Card is attached to that store. Did not even think about keeping the receipt and maybe trying to turn it in.
Rakiton has been a real saver. I love the fact that I can get cash back when I shop. This is especially great during holiday season when you spend a lot more money!
I appreciate how easy the browser extension and the app on my phone is to navigate. The search features make shopping for the best prices and percent back combination.

“Thieves”

They never pay what you actually earned. I have yet to have a single transaction pay what was advertised. Even after purchases have been verified they just delete the payout for no reason. 100% scam! Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Attention aux vendeurs professionnels”

Les vendeurs professionnels sur ce site ne sont pas fiables. Un vendeur pro (jinliangshop) m'a vendu un téléphone qui est tombé en panne deux mois après l'achat. Je lui ai renvoyé le téléphone pour réparation, mais depuis, il fait silence radio, et il m'est impossible de porter plainte. Rakuten se désiste de toute responsabilité. A absolument éviter si vous voulez avoir une garantie. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Dishonest and unreliable”

They boast a 25% cashback if I buy something from Temu, which I did. I was sure the system activated this cashback just before purchase. However, they never sent me this cashback, despite my multiple attempts to claim it. First they tried to play stupid by simply repeating the info I already submitted a few times, then they didn't even bother to reply in the end. I will let both Temu and other customers know how dishonest and unreliable they are. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Amazing Rakuten! Thanks so much Susan!”

Rakuten team are the best service I've come across in the US. We are refugees from Ukraine and we are very grateful to Rakuten for such joy as excellent service, impeccable work, patience, respect for the client and professionalism. I will be happy to buy everything only through the Rakuten service. This is a great savings and a great pleasure to know them! Thank you Susan! “Rakuten doesn't pay”

I used to have good results getting my cash back but it's changed. I had a purchase on 9/2/2024 and it was supposed to be $15.90 cash back and for 2 it says pending they never got it confirmed even though I got an email showing I received my rewards. I've sent probably 15 messages and they just reply someone will get back to yo and they never do. I wouldn't even fool with Rakuten anymore it's not worth the frustration. Service Value Quality

“So annoying!”

This is the most annoying app ever. Crap pops up every time I visit a website. My credit card company does a much better job of finding deals, without the constant interruptions. They make is impossible to cancel the service. I had to contact customer service several times, each time replying to stupid questions like "what country do you live in?". Why does it matter? I gave you my account number and you verified! Then they walk you through a ridiculously long process to "request" cancellation. All that BS and now it says it could take up to 45 days.Give me a break. Just have a delete button like everyone else. Tip for consumers:Steer clear. Products used:None. Expected to get all these great online deals. A ggogle search for codes is more productive. Service Value Quality

“Awful company”

Unbelievable. I'm still in disbelief. I racked up quite a bit using Ebates and was diligent every time. Went through their website and most times I had to manually fill out their form with all the info, including the subtotal, merchant, order confirmation email. When it came time to pay the "big fat cheque" they literally shut down my account and refused to pay me claiming that the orders weren't placed properly Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Rakuten sucks”

I was a loyal Rakuten member until they terminated my account out of nowhere. I asked for proof of the reasonings and they said they didn't have to provide any. Their terms and conditions say they can terminate "for any reason or no reason." So basically for no reason your account can be terminated. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Getting small checks but its something”

This is def for people who do nothing but shop online. I think I've earned about 20.00 so far. I did forget to use it but still its a good source to make cash back. I have noticed that they are working with amazon anymore though and that where I mostly shop.

“Referrals”

I just got an email about the updated referral bonus. It basically says for me to remind them but I have no idea on how to do that cause there is no send a reminder or anything. People used my link but don't actually follow through. There's double cash back until 5/14. Value

“Bad Online Customer Service and Horrible T and C's”

I helped my roommates make an account and make purchases through Rakuten then the next day all my 4 roommates' accounts and mine were blocked. After contacting customer service they said "Also, per our terms here: https://www.rakuten.com/help/article/terms-conditions************** Specifically in article 22.1. Termination or Suspension states in part, "We may terminate this Agreement and your use of or access to the Program at any time, for any reason or no reason." " Tip for consumers:Best avoid it. Service Value

“Misleading”

I have the extension as well as often buying through Rakuten/Kobo. While I get some rewards others say"Up to" often meaning no rewards for your purchase, in particular Staples Copy & Print. Spent hundreds and never gotten a dime from them. Really the rewards are not worth the hassle. Will be cancelling after the next cheque Service Quality

“They kicked me out of my account”

I've been adding up all my cash back and now that I'm at a certain amount it is no longer allowing me into my account, allowing me to reset my password, or even submit a claim for this issue to be resolved. DO NOT USE! SCAM TO GET YOUR INFO! Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Lost Cash Back Balance - Why? How?”

I've been an Ebates member since 2010 and back then I was getting a fair amount of cash back or gift cards for my purchases. Recently, however, after the change to Rakuten I lost all of my money. So, after 10 years of being with this company I have no balance, and no history. I had a bunch of money saved, to the point where I could go on ebates, and get a gift card to go birthday present or even Christmas shopping. Now, it's all gone. Not cool.

“The advertised item ended up being a poor counterfeit”

The advertised item ended up being a poor counterfeit. Rakuten. Com puts all the responsibility to correct a bad sale on the vendor who just ripped you off. Rakuten.com plays an "arms length" denial position. "Not us"..."we didn't do that!", but they continue to advertise and sell the same product as genuine. Got my money back only because I used PayPal. THEY know how to support the customer in these situations. Would NEVER buy another product from the Rakuten.com site.

“Unreceived cash back”

One of the few times I actually use ebates to make a big purchase I never received my cash back really disappointed! Honestly think this is pointless. You can't even reach anyone other then sending in an email.

“Terrible”

My estimated cash back was supposed to be 10% for purchasing airline and hotel tickets which I took a screenshot of and overnight the percentage somehow dropped to 1% only. They are fraud. Will not used them again.

“Buy elsewhere”

Purchased a Kohler kitchen sink. It arrived in an opened box with no protective packaging. Clearly, this sink had been returned. I am having it installed and will report if there is damage that I cannot see at present.

“So, I've been a fan of Ebates for a long time, but...”

So, I've been a fan of Ebates for a long time, but recently I notice that when you buy a big ticket item (just recently bought a laptop from Dell, started out from the Ebates site as I always do) they DON'T record it. Then when you contact their customer service, they tell you it's because the vendor didn't sent them the tracking info or some b. S. like that. It's funny how it only happens on big ticket items. This has happened to me at least 3 times in the last two years. I think I will stop using them. There are plenty of other sites where you can earn points or cash back.

“Cheap and suck”

This website sells OEM or non-authenticated brand name product at regular price. When issue arises, they disappeared conveniently. Also they do NOT accept or post negative reviews. It's like a scam artist.

“Bad UX and bad company to deal with”

My company has always used Commission Factory (Junction) and Rakuten. I always found Rakuten was harder to use and lacked some of the features CF has. Also it seems like affiliates are on all channels so there really isn't a need for two. I decided to terminate my contract with Rakuten, which had been signed nearly 10 years prior. They said I would have to pay the fees for 7 months as the contract automatically renews every year, this seems unfair and just gave me a very bad impression of them. Service Value

“AVOID EBATES”

I have used them faithfully & have to fight to get my cash back by filing inquiries & submitting invoices / documents providing my shopping trips. Stores (many) don't report the purchases THEN ebates credits much less than what entitled too. Example purchase was 5% cash back & ebates gave me 1.00 on a 99.99 purchase. Hmmm basic math Ebates takes referrals away if its a family member even a cousin who lives with you. Then they will block you out of your account! Do NOT refer people & only use if you like to continually argue then prove yourself to get paid what they promise! BEWARE!

“They appear to use bait & switch techniques”

They appear to use bait & switch techniques. No discernible C/S no. To call. Does not respond to customer emails. I'm now very concerned that my CC info is in the hands of a disreputable actor. Stan N.

“BRING The ORIGINAL Ebates Back”

The original ebates actually gave cash back on every purchase with no problem now this dumb $#*! version of ebates is abomination and should've been changed if i could rat rakuten 0 stars or negative 0 i would

“It works!”

I received a gift card for signing up and a check back after last Holiday season! The only problem is that it can become removed with computer updates. I did not realize this happened and missed some cash back. Customer service was helpful.

Top 5 Effective Ways To Spot a Scam Website [VIDEO]

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
