We came up with the 65.8 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to purplecarrot.com's industry. Long story short, we recommend staying vigilant and using common sense when engaging with this website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning purplecarrot.com, let's dive deeper into the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between purplecarrot.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of purplecarrot.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of purplecarrot.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. purplecarrot.com is likely a safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether purplecarrot.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether purplecarrot.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, purplecarrot.com.

Poor quality ingredients, pre cooked grains in plastic bags smell and taste bad, dried out browning pre chopped vegetables in sealed plastic bags not cut correctly for the recipe, missing ingredients, the list goes on. The price does not at all match the quality. The ingredients are worse quality than in grocery stores. This company does not care about its customers or the quality of its food. It's the exact opposite of a healthy meal service.
Ingredients come in spoiled or missing CONSISTANTLY. Purple carrot will NOT provide a full refund if they've ruined your meal with spoiled food or missing ingredients. They will refund you about $2-3 for an entire meal that's been ruined. I discussed this issue with their team and it doesn't matter to them, they do not care. This should be considered FALSE ADVERTISMENT, you can not charge full price for something and then sell something completely different due to missing or spoiled ingredients. PURPLE CARROT, do not respond telling me to talk to your team, this has already been done. This company is a JOKE.
I opted for the ready-made meals because I travel for work and am often away from my home for a week or so at a time. Bad idea.2/3 of deliveries are late. And when I say late, I mean well over 24 hours from the delivery date that is on the site, and the email, and everywhere. The only reason I pick the deliveries I do is because of the delivery date - they're flavorless enough (while somehow containing a metric f*ton of sodium) that I wouldn't choose them if I had time for cooking when I'm gone for work. To those who live in a warm climate, if they arrive on time, they're *barely* out of the danger zone, so if they're over 24 hours later, they're not fresh - though those CSRs, they'll swear up and down they're still good. It's awful paying $90 to throw all that food away because its not safe to consume - but its insulting that the CSR's are like, "naw, you're good. I can give you a $10 credit???" I don't want a credit. I want accurate delivery info - proper packaging, and a team that doesn't see an issue with SO MUCH FOOD BEING THROWN AWAY.
I recently signed up with Purple Carrot. I buy the prepared meals. Because I am new to their program, I didn't know you had to cancel your order by a certain date, and if not you will be sent whatever meals that they choose for you, and YOU WILL STILL BE CHARGED. You can't cancel the order, and you can't cancel the delivery. Even after I explained to them that I would be out of town with no one to retrieve the unwanted box for me, they wouldn't bulge. They indicated that they have their procedures in place and they are concrete, and there is no understanding for the customer...NONE. They did offer to give me a partial credit to be used on my next order, but made it clear that they would never do that again. People are starving, literally, but they rather deliver food that they know will sit on my porch for days until I return home, and eventually go in the garbage!! And to make me waste my hard earned money to pay for food that I will not eat!! Senseless!! Stupid!! Inconsiderate!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and POOR COMPANY PROCEDURE!!And by the way, the food is not the greatest..Lacks flavor..
Some recipes are kind of difficult but they've been doable. Would like it if there were alternative instructions for cases where you might not have certain equipment like blender, microwave or oven. Also, don't really know how you'd go about contacting purple carrot if there was an issue with order, delivery, ingredients, etc. Other meal services have easier ways to identify concerns without having to hunt down contacts.
Their plant-based meals were good. They do not have good delivery service, which is a shame. One of the main reasons I signed up for this service was to get an accurate delivery schedule. Several times, my meals have been brought very late at night, which has been annoying because the first meal for the day is already gone. I reached out to them to see if this could be made better, but they seem too busy for a business of this nature to deal with something so important. I had to cancel my subscription, and I'm glad I did because I found a much better company that charged less and delivered on time. I really hope that someday they can make their delivery service as good as their food.
This experience has been great. A minor note; please provide more soy-free and allergens-free meals. When I received an arugula that was yellow and going bad, you immediately refunded me no questions asked. Also, you didn't pressure me into buying my meals every single week or every single month either.
I wish the meals showed the whole nutrition facts and not just tbe calories before you bought them. Some meals have 1900 milligrams of sodium, that’s like eating a chipotle bowl and a bag of chips. I get that it is a frozen food and that is why the sodium content is so high, but I wish we could see the full nutrition label before ordering. I would just eat at an actual restaurant if I wanted that much excess sodium. only suggestion I would make
Okay there is nothing more to say than purple carrot is fricken amazing. My mom and I have spent years making fancy recipes that take hours out of all sorts of vegan cookbooks and barely any compare to how amazing and tasty these meals are. If you have the time and the money, purchase purple carrot immediately because otherwise you are seriously missing out... seriously.
Your ingredients are always fresh! Your packaging is minimal. And we love how all the savory recipes are filling, w/o depending on bread, potatoes and rice to fill the body. So many choices and variety within our vegetarian/ gluten -free requirements. Thank you!
The meals from Purple Carrot are like going out to dinner! The entrees are creative, multi-layered in their flavors, easy to prepare and made with quality ingredients. My husband was skeptical at first about eating vegan, but he been wowed by these dinners and now looks forward to them. And I love having someone else make the decision about what to make for dinner!
Love this meal service! Its so hard to find worth vegan meals and this service is a must! I love that you can pick meals you make yourself (still super easy) or buy prepared meals or frozen. They also have a great selection of "plantry" items which includes really good "cheese" and different vegan drinks or just every day items that should be in all pantries. I am so happy I found this meal service, they literally have something for everyone and it makes me feel great that I am making delicious meals quickly that are actually great for me!
I hate waiting for these packages! Very unreliable delivery times and inconsistent contents. They say an eleven hour delivery window from 8am-9pm. That is unless it has to come the next day for whatever reason. The food is just as inconstant as the delivery times. You never know if you’re going to get rotten items, completely water logged box, or maybe everything is perfect. When the food is good and delivered at a reasonable time, it’s fantastic. The recipes are mostly great, only a few are lackluster and simplistic. The overall experience has been poor and this is upsetting because I really wanted to like Purple Carrot 😢
We had a substitute that was nasty. That sucks, and we paid for it. If you're subbing meals you guys should pay for them or just don't send anything.Edit: had already reached out to purple carrot support before posting this review. Was told that they don't refund substitutions except in cases of allergy. After a lot of back and forth they made it clear there was nothing they'd do about this, and that its just a part of their distribution model. I'm a little put off by their reply suggesting I reach out to their support team since they already know that they weren't going to fix it.
3.75 stars!I like the freshness of the food you send and I like the variety. I would prefer and stronger emphasis on healthy recipes. I don't like when broccoli is coated in batter or veggies are added to bread just to have more calories and carbs. Also all you prepared foods seem to have preservatives. I would prefer more organic foods especially the greens.Disappointed you raise the amount for free shipping, which is difficult for single people.
Purple Carrot has been pretty good so far. The meals have been great (sometimes could use a squeeze or lemon or lime). They've been easy to make and very flavorful! The customer service has been ok, just a little different from other meal delivery services. We had an issue with a missing ingredient and instead of a credit for the meal, it was just for the missing ingredient. Luckily we had something close enough to sub with, otherwise we would have needed to find time to go shopping.
So…I’ve never really been one to cook meals but with Purple Carrot I find myself looking forward to opening a new kit and getting to it! It’s easy and fun at the same time…I really can’t explain it but it is. On top of that, the recipes that are put together are just amazing, full of flavor and texture. Every time we sit down for dinner we are completely blown away at how tasty the meals are and just when we think we’ve found our favorite, we are taken back again. Thanks for making meals fun again and delicious on top of that!
We have been enjoying the recipes and the degree of preparation, as well as the recyclable nature of the packaging. However, we had at least our third meal today that had an ingredient missing. Tonight's meal was cauliflower steaks and the cauliflower was missing. Really need more quality control on the meal ingredients to make sure all are included.
I think the biggest issue is with avocados. I know it can be difficult to get them ripe or close to ripeness when shipping but always appear to be unripe and hard when delivered and would take too long to ripen as the other veggies would go bad. Reexamine the avocado recipes and perhaps use guacamole for some recipes instead.
Did not know much of the food was spicy. I thought there would be more vegetables as advertised (eat more vegetables).Higher in sodium and fat than expected. Some of the meals are really delicious. Sometimes they are disappointing. Tortellini is a favorite of my except when last week it did not have any sauce as it usually does.

“Mush”
I have tried two different frozen meals found in Publix. The second is pictured here. I followed all directions, and each time I ended up with tasteless Mush. The vegetables were barely recognizable, and those that were were either awful or tasteless. There will not be a third attempt. Products used:2 frozen meals Value Quality
“Still being charged after cancellation”
I've never had an experience like this and have used multiple meal kit companies. I would never recommend this one. I tried to cancel online after my first order, it must have not gone through. I reached out to support and received a confirmation on 1/24 that my account and subscription have been cancelled as it didn't work online. Then yesterday 1/30, I see another charge on my account with a box is in transit. I reached out to support, hoping they could refund me since I cancelled the subscription and account already, they said they can't do it as the box is in transit and they won't own up to the fact it should have already been cancelled. Attaching proof of cancellation 7 days ago below, far before the new box was in transit. This is now TWO boxes I'm paying for after attempting to cancel. Again, I've never seen anything like this with a food service. Please issue me a refund and I will gladly delete this review. “Gaslighting Inc.”
I cancelled my service. Then they claimed I did not and charged me 88$ for food I could not eat because it contained gluten. I called them to dispute cancel the day I received it. Then they claimed I never cancelled but only temporarily suspended my orders. They agreed to cancel but charged me again for the following week with more food I could not eat. When I contacted customer service, they played coy, and overlooked the fact that I had called to dispute the initial charge, while they were charging me again. They pulled up records of conversations which verified nothing, and continued to lean on "policy" as well as twisting facts. Essentially, they lied several times and got another 176$ out of me. I am now having to cancel my cards and change all of my billing assignments to avoid further charges. I would AVOID them like the plague! Tip for consumers:It would have been helpful to know that they have every intention of milking you for every last dollar, violating business ethics, gaslighting customers, and treating them with complete disregard. “Rip Off and Doesn't Let You Cancel”
I've been with Purple Carrot for years but they always have problems with login when you need to cancel and charge you even when you don't want a box that week (due to their technical difficulties). Then does not refund you or stop your order even if it hasn't shipped yet. They don't care and there's always something missing from the box which they won't send back out to you nor refund you a portion of your meal even though ingredients are missing. On top of that now they charge you $10 for shipping so you're paying $90 for 3 meals for 2 people that you have to spend at least 45 minutes preparing. This is for no meat or dairy so I don't know why it's so expensive. There's so many better meal kits out there so I canceled my account today and won't be coming back! “Consistent Shipping/Quality Issues.”
I was a returning customer. In the past I experienced shipping delays and spoiled food. On my first returning order, it's been delayed. Such a pain...CS apologized and but only said, keep waiting and let them know if I don't receive it. So...not very helpful.
“Customer service level of a toddler”
They sent 2 boxes totaling 600 dollars to the wrong address on an old profile that hasn't been used in years and refuse to cancel the account before sending out the second box due to missing it by one day. No refund no new box. 600 bucks rotting on some random persons porch lol Jesus how inept can one company be Tip for consumers:Stay away from this scam Products used:Their food Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Prepackaged meal plan food is disgusting”
I got 10 meals (5 each week) and I could only stomach two of them the rest I opened smelled and threw away. I am not vegan but eat vegan and vegetarian frequently. I don't know what the deal is with these but the flavor and the combinations are horrible and it's very expensive. I gave it two stars because customer service was good.
“Wouldn't recommend”
Had a couple of decent meals but some of my meals were missing key ingredients. When I reached out to them they offered a very small refund and said they only refund for the ingredient missing. The whole meal was ruined because of not having the proper stuff but I don't get refunded for the actual meal. Not sure what sense that makes. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Dissatisfied”
This was my 1st purchase through Purple Carrot reason being I have a elderly vegetarian mother that is no longer able to cook. I thought this would be great however the 1st dish had a small u shaped hair in it and the 2nd meal had a 5 inch gray hair in it. Sadly my mom was not able to eat her dinner. After speaking with customer service they stated there is no account with my info? Weird as I was charged but they have no record?
“Terrible Customer Service”
I am honestly shocked at how poor the customer service is at Purple Carrot. I expected more from a company that seems to market itself as a higher quality line in food delivery. The food was good - that deserves a star but I can get food elsewhere and be appreciated and taken care of as a customer. Products used:Meal delivery Service Returns
“Unfair upset”
I have a subscription, and Purple Carrot doesn't care if you make an order. They like to charge customers. I don't order for a long time, but they said I needed to skip the order. They need money and find a way to make money.
“Purple Carrot, Yellow Yard”
Along with the similar issues people are pointing out (Typically something is missing/rotten), we got an extra surprise this visit. After dropping off our order, the delivery driver decided it was time to walk through my yard, and urinate on our bushes. All in front of our security cameras. There's public bathrooms not even 1/4 mile, my front yard is not your piss bucket. Disgusting!
“Deceptive and unfair policies that are likely illegal, BUT good customer service”
I signed up for a trial of Purple Carrot back in 2019. More recently, I signed up for another one again, with a second email address. In the process of cancelling the second trial, I accidentally logged into the first account (created in spring 2019), did some clicking around bc I was confused, then saw it was the wrong account and logged out. Somehow, the act of logging into this first account led it to reactivate. This means that Purple Carrot went ahead and charged me $90, even though I was not notified I had ordered anything, nor did I even receive a receipt for this purchase. I only noticed bc I saw the charge on my credit card statement. This is almost certainly illegal and regulators should investigate the company. However, when I contacted customer service, they were helpful in replying, and while they tried to claim it was fine to charge me $90 without telling me, they did refund my money. The food itself is fine -- it's good, but def not worth the full sticker price of something like $12-16 per 400-calorie frozen meal. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Scam”
When you try to skip meals, purple carrot website will end up sometimes reversing the skip. They then send you an order you never wanted, and they refuse to refund, even if they haven't shipped yet. When people file complaints, they respond in all caps telling the people it's their fault. Horrible company, low quality ingredients. We received tortillas that has a texture like paper. Bad business run by bad people. Hopefully they end up out of business.
“Liked the food, customer service was very Salty to say the least”
I called in about a series of issues with my orders not changing after I had confirmed adjustments or tried to skip a week. I found out I had two duplicate accounts under identical login information. They accused me, the person calling in to report the problem, of trying to get extra meals and worm out of paying. This had only happened for 2 deliveries before I called in and tried to find out what was happening. They took no responsibility for a duplicated account and refunded me a small portion. I had so much food, we didn't have room in our refrigerator and most of it rotted. I had to call in many (like 50 times) just to get someone on the line, they just don't answer. I got the manager of customer service on chat and she just ignored me... Refused to respond. I've never dealt with Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Do not use this company”
Got this as a gift after a severe injury. Wanted to use it once but told I had to give my credit card and cancellation was easy. A major ingredient from 2 out of 3 dishes was totally or 1/2 rotten. Emailed to cancel and filled out a survey. One month later told a box was coming the next day and I was charged $72. Sent it back but told I had not followed all the steps and was still going to be charged. No apologies. Would never recommend this business.
“Produce arrived rotten”
I mean, it doesn't get much worse than that. Pictures attached-- disgusting. I tried contacting customer service to get a refund and all they offered me was $15 credit to my purple carrot account. It wasn't even enough to get a new meal, so that means I would have had to spend MORE money at purple carrot in order to use it-- as if I want to give them more money for spoiled food. What a $#*!ing joke. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Great for Vegans!”
I see in previous reviews people complained of late deliveries and rotten food. I have NEVER had a problem with that. Deliveries are always on time, produce is extremely fresh and shipments are complete. I was never missing an ingredient. Also, my experience with customer service was very positive. They are friendly and helpful. It's very easy to suspend a delivery or cancel on the website. Most of the food I like. I have tried many dishes and there was only one I hated. Most are tasty and filling. Service Value Shipping Quality
“Unreliable Delivery and They Ghost You.”
I ordered a week's worth of meals four weeks ago. I received an email apologizing for a delay, then waited for a delivery the following week. Two weeks past. I followed up and found out that Purple Carrot deleted my account. I signed up and they ghosted me. I sent them a message today, but I am fed up and I have been ghosted. Products used:I never received a delivery or a follow up from Purple Carrot after I received my order. Service Shipping
“Going back to hello fresh”
Had this for a month- 3 of 4 orders were shipped late so they arrived late. 2 boxes have been missing ingredients, 1 had rotten/moldy cauliflower. I like the taste and recipes but having them arrive late and running out to the grocery store is getting old.
“Not good”
I'm vegetarian but eat vegan about 75% of the time. These recipes were not well thought out in the flavor department. I've made better things on my own and I'm not a good cook. The meals did not turn out very good and tasted weird. Produce was wilted. Very disappointed. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Be careful and read any fine print.”
Tried this service for a few weeks. Many of their selections are great but some I found complete unpalatable. Almost every week they substituted at least one of my meals with an unpalatable one. They gave me a 6.50 credit each time but that isn't helpful if I'm not going to eat it. I was still paying half price for something I won't eat and didn't select. The boxes were also almost always late and sometimes the food was past the freshness dates. I finally grew tired of this and thought I had canceled my subscription. Apparently I had it on a 10 week hold. So I was just alerted that more food was coming with an email telling me about a substitution, of course. Yes, they had sent a couple of others but since I thought I had canceled, assumed they were just spam and disregarded. So the food hasn't even been sent yet but they say there is nothing they can do. They even sent me screenshots of the emails they had sent me, just to make sure I understood that it was my fault. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Bad Delivery”
I love Purple Carrot. I really like the menu (most of the time). I like the ability to skip weeks. The recipes are great. The delivery however, leaves for much improvement. I didn't receive my last delivery until after 10pm, after I was already asleep. Not only did they not deliver it at a normal hour, they also delivered it to an Amazon hub, which is nowhere near where my front door is. I've complained to Purple Carrot before, but honestly, I don't think they can fix that. Hello Fresh was much better in customer recovery. I don't prefer that meal delivery overall, but they are much quicker to address and rectify issues. Products used:Meal Delivery Service Value Shipping Quality
“Love their food and that it's vegan”
I like that they precook some of the more difficult things like noodles and rice. Every time I make rice from a meal kit it comes out bad or uncooked. I love these tasty meals and I think they are a great value compared to grocery shopping nowadays. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

How To Stop Third Parties From Tracking Your Devices
The second most powerful fraud prevention tool you should consider is Surfshark. Here is why you should get it now, as the first 5 months are free:
- They have an award-winning VPN service, protecting your privacy and preventing third parties from tracking your device.
- They will notify you when your personal info is leaked online so you can delete your private data from the Internet immediately.
- Surfshark has a super powerful antivirus program. It offers you effective protection from viruses and zero-day threats, a lightweight, clean, and easy-to-use app, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Check this: They hide your online searches, which means you will get only organic search results without tracking and follow-up ads. For example, when you search for a flight, and the next time you look at the same search, the prices are higher. With Surfshark, this doesn't happen.
For the Black Friday promotion, Surfshark offers 86% off + up to 5 months free to Scam Detector readers. You can get the deal only this week HERE or by clicking the button below.

If you own purplecarrot.com, we’d love to hear from you. If you'd like to challenge the trust score we’ve assigned, we’re happy to take a closer look. However, please be prepared to provide solid proof of your business's legitimacy. Introduce yourself with your name (not just "Admin").
When domain owners contact us to dispute their trust score, we kindly ask for the following:
* Business documentation that verifies your legitimacy (e.g., certificate of incorporation, business registration, or official records with the site or business name).
* Your personal LinkedIn profile and the business's social media accounts (e.g., Facebook).
* If available, proof of satisfied customers (e.g., screenshots, not just testimonials on your website), evidence of inventory, or records of handling order cancellations properly.
We’re more than willing to update your review based on the evidence you provide—the more proof, the higher your trust score. Please note, however, that we cannot verify non-operational websites or those redirected to other URLs.
