I love everything about my experience with this course so far. Carla and Marlon are friendly and knowledgeable. I love their hands on approach to learning a language, weaving in different tools and techniques. It is an immersion course, which I love. The videos are so well done. The team responds to questions quickly and kindly. I’m new to the program but looking forward to the rest of my journey with Portuguese with Carla!

I needed a program like this. It's well done and reinforces things in a scientific way. It's not easy, but I find that I am learning a lot. Additionally, my listening skills (to me, the hardest part of Portugese) are really improving.

The team (Carla and Marlon) are extremely friendly and helpful. they take the time to explain each part of the coruse, encourage you to do your best and also hold no punches. You need to do the coursework and put in the extra time to make the learning journey beneficial. At first the course appears daunting because there is a lot of Portuguese, but once you understand this is part of the "immersion" process you start to pick up new things each time you enter the platform.Bravo!

I've been learning European Portuguese for 3 years. Other classes focus on grammar but I struggle to understand what Portuguese people are saying back to me. So far I am happy with the approach Carla and Marlon are using. I feel that I will have a better understanding of speaking and understanding Portuguese that real people are using.

Very new into The Journey but can tell you that I've taken several other courses on-line and find this one the most engaging and "real life" to date. Instead of focusing on grammar (which we trend to forget quickly or tune out) the student learns to listen and engage with the Portuguese language on a more authentic level (but, don't worry, grammar is included!). This course is money well spent; I actually look forward to my time spent on The Journey and learning Portuguese! Highly recommend.

This is a fantastic way to learn Portuguese. Totally immersive, fun, with clear explanations all along the journey. The quizzes are great fun and I learned so much in a very short time. Homework (consolidation) is also great fun and immediate feedback is given to help you improve.I have already recommended this programme to friends.

Great content and clear explanations of the features of European portuguese. I had some background through language apps which give mostly brasilian portuguese. Even the chapters that I could skip were excitingly useful. Above all some minor technical problems at my side were quickly solved through the helpline chatbox. I would strongly recommend.

I had been struggling with other videos. Finding journey with Carla Was a game changer I'm enjoying this more than I have any other program. I am very very very new to this language or any language other than English so it's taking time but I'm getting it with Carla and her husband. Thank you very much for this program is very helpful.

Enjoying the structure of “the journey”. After watching several of the you tube videos, I knew I would gain from her teaching method. Both Carla and Marlon assist in instruction and it feels like they are instructing me. Additionally, they explain actual pronunciation so you sound like a native.

I found Portuguese with Carla on YouTube and started watching her podcasts. Carla and Marlon have a unique way of teaching a new language. They’re very engaging. They’re very interesting. They give you lots of options for vocabulary, pronunciation, and interaction. I had tried other YouTube programs, and they don’t come close to comparing to Carla. If you want to learn European Portuguese, this is the way to do it.

My experience with Portugese With Carla has been been quite emersive at the start. It's a course that provides many ways to learn a language taking into account the differences in how people learn. I have felt comfortable with the exercises, quizzes and many options to speak aloud to help with pronunciation. The video interaction is also fun and engaging

You can clearly see the work that's been put into this jam packed programme with so much to offer from podcasts, to shadowing and pronunciation training, to learning the breakdown of the language, quizzes, consolidation phases - the list goes on and on and at your own pace! Carla and Marlon are there to assist whenever you need it and you can liaise with fellow learners too. It's brilliant!

An absolutely unique and customized approach sets this program apart from all others. We do not begin to learn language / speaking as kids by going to grammar class and getting lists of words to memorize. We learn by listening, observing, and interacting. Portuguese with Carla follows the same approach with a one of kind experience and website / course. I have enrolled and intend to finish the course over a year or so. But even 6 weeks in, with less than 30 min a day, my comprehension and basic speaking skills are notably improved. This is a 5 star experience and site. Just wow!

Portuguese With Carla is a delight. It's incredibly well-thought-out, challenging, immersive, and fun. You hit the ground running with real-life conversations, and then grammar points are introduced gradually as you go along.There's a lot of focus on pronunciation (tricky!) and on production of the language, and the pacing of the course is great. There are also super-affordable weekly conversation meet-up sessions via zoom.Carla, Marlon and Joana are all incredibly responsive too, and the whole project feels like a labour of love — one that is delivered with huge doses of charm and good humour. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Make no mistake about it: Portuguese with Carla is hard work! It is also extremely gratifying, rewarding, and fun. Both Carlin and Marlon are utterly charming and helpful. I also really appreciate it that every unit comes with quizzes, which hold me accountable. self=study settings, it is all too easy to think you know more than you do, or simply plow ahead without really nailing down the material. The quizzes and “final games” simply do not allow this.I am very glad I’m taking The Journey with Carla

Their approach to learning is excellent. They use multiple ways to teach you the language, i.e., reading, speaking, and listening. I found this approach to be very effective.

I'm really enjoying this course - it is so well structured and it's full of humour - doesn't even feel like work, but I'm learning so much. Both Carla and Marlon are native Portuguese so it feels really authentic and they have put so much effort into making this course work - it's brilliant.

I am a subscriber to this online European Portuguese programme since December 2018 and I find the course material interesting and helpful in my language acquisition. Each video lesson is in the form of conversation between two or more parties on diversifed subject matter which naturally brings out the related vocabuary and certain gramatical structure for that specific setting. More importantly, there are plenty of exercises and one final test on each lesson to gauge your understanding. Also what I like is that the lessons are carried out in Portuguese but there is seperate explanation again in English to reconfirm one's understanding. Overall, a very good program for serious learner. I enjoy it!

It is challenging, engaging, well-paced, it gives me multiple chances to test my learning, and gives me exposure to real world EU Portuguese. The high quality of the videos is appreciated! For me one of the strongest elements as a student who is not immersed in a Portuguese-speaking environment is the aural aspect. Hearing and producing the language is so important. I am motivated to work this program Hard and so I also appreciate all the ancillary bits I can gobble up. This has been an invaluable resource for me. I have friends who are paying dearly for group and private lessons in-country and are not making nearly the progress I am making. I am learning at a Fraction of the price and am able to drip (or drown) -feed myself as suits my schedule and interest. This course is a game-changer.
