Is orukayak.com Legit?

Terrible design. VERY DIFFICULT to assemble. Takes at least an hour. Takes 2 people. I will NEVER buy an ORU product! That's $2000.00 I just flushed down the toilet.

I am already disappointed that I have not heard back from an email sent inquiring about shipping. My order has not shipped yet and no reply to email. No tracking number has even been assigned. If I knew it would take this long to even ship, I would not have ordered from this company, it is a birthday gift so beyond disappointed.

We bought two Lake+ kayaks and love them. We have nowhere to store or transport rigid kayaks, but these are easy to store, carry and assemble. Took somebody out who had never kayaked before and they felt safe and stable the whole time. We had a problem with one boat a year after purchase, so emailed on the Sunday afternoon thinking we'd hear back the following week. Actually heard back less than an hour later - super friendly and a replacement was on its way within 10 minutes of that. Could not be more impressed and would definitely recommend to anyone!

I've had 3 Oru Lake Plus kayaks. The first leaked like a sive first trip out. Customer service from Oru was combative and pretty much non caring. Being cought in their own warranty trap, they replaced the first kayak. The only positive thing I can say about the replacement kayak is that it leaks slower than the first. The third kayak is my wife's. Her's leaks slower than my first and faster than my second. Failures seem to be at fastener points along the hull. These things are junk, save your money

I was excited to hop on the kickstarter campaign for Oru’s newest kayak after seeing my nephew’s Oru. The kayaks were promised in August and there have been no updates since June. I did receive two life jackets in the mail but without any correspondence and my messages to Oru have been systemically ignored. I can’t imagine what a nightmare it would be if these kayaks actually ever show up and are faulty.

I bought a kayak 28th of May 2023, there was an issue with it so i sent it back to be changed, everything took such a long time that I now only got a replacement 2 months later. I packed down everything in the box including a watertight bag they gave me for free first time, but when they sent the replacement there was no watertight bag anymore. So i lost a watertight bag, had to wait 2 months and got nothing for it, will never buy from them again to be honest.

Like many others, I have had appauling customer service. I first made my complaint in December after receiving a faulty Kayak. I contacted them directly and got a replacement sent several months later. My customer support rep. Confirmed that they would cover the cost of import taxes. It has now been more than 6 months, perhaps 20 emails and nothing. Oru kayak, the system you are using for customer service is severely damaging your brand identity. No amount of design innovation can replace solid customer service.Until this issue is rectified, I will not and can not recommend this company or its products.

It has been 3 weeks since my wife and I spent over $3,000 on two kayaks, vests, and packs. Since receiving the order confirmation email the day of purchase we have heard nothing from Oru. The website said they would ship within 10-14 days, so we were ready to be patient. But 21 days have passed and we have received zero communication from Oru regarding the timeline of the delivery. We’re beginning to wonder if it’s all a big scam.

The kayaks themselves work well, but customer service has been awful. I bought 2 Beach LTs and had parts fail on each kayak in the first couple of usages. One part got replaced quickly, but I’ve been waiting over 2 months for the other and have gotten nothing from customer service other than claims that they will “expedite” the part order (which means nothing). It’s pretty unbelievable how bad the service is for such and expensive product. One other thing to note - the reviews on their site are definitely fake. The Beach LT had about a three star average in May 2021 with a handful of reviews, and now they are somehow are 5 stars and 48 reviews. And the negative review I posted never showed up.

I ordered a Lake+ model online and have been super pleased with it. In fact, I was so pleased with it that I immediately ordered another one! I even got a friend to order one for themselves. The customer service has been nothing but great and responsive, so I'm not sure what to make of all the negative reviews on here. I feel like perhaps some people are very impatient and expect instant responses via email. In my experience Oru will even provide extra discounts for buying in bulk, on top of the current black friday sales. Honestly, I'm kind of impressed by their level of service and willingness to give discounts and the boats themselves, well, they're just excellent!

I received a new cockpit rib that is thicker than previous. Thus, I need longer spacers for the screws. It would help to have these provided with an explanation. I struggled with getting parts to come together until I discovered this problem causing screws to hang up on the cockpit rib.Shipping is costly for a part that fits easily into a padded envelope. It cost as much as the cockpit rib.

This company charges you for their normal cost of business if you have a return. Including large fees to inspect your return even if it’s never used, and shipping both directions. Buyers beware - do not buy as a gift!

I placed an order for accessories in late May. The order was not processed for well over a week, despite having been charged to my credit card. A full week after a UPS tracking label was assigned to my order, I still have not received the package, nor does UPS have any information about it. I fault Oru, and and not UPS, for this issue.

Very very frustrating. We waited months for our 2 kayaks to arrive. With one, we've had no issues. The other one seems to be cursed - from the first time out, we've had mechanicals. The company keeps telling us they will send parts - which I think is ridiculous as the kayak is basically brand new - they should just replace the whole thing - but regardless, it's the middle of summer and parts have not arrived yet. I'm not at all convinced the parts will solve the issues - which means even longer without use. They look cool but this company does not have it's service act together.

The first time my ORU Kayak was put together, one of the 32" connectors broke. A new one was ordered under warranty , but never arrived. A follow-up call was made, but again, part never arrived. This summer, I reordered the (pair) of 32" pieces, but this time I paid for the pieces ( no longer under warranty) and surprise, I received the parts in approximately 2 weeks. While I am pleased to have the replacement, it would have been nice to have the warranty honored.

We had some slightly different requests with our kayak order. Everything was handled in a very professional and expeditious manner. In short our requests were taken very seriously and handled to our satisfaction and immense pleasure. We must give a special thanks to Sam who went out of her way to give new meaning to the words "customer service".

Beach = best way to enjoy mountain lakes!We have no kayaking experience but were able to assemble the Beach and get out on the water from our campsite with a minimum of fuss and luggage. Really happy to be able to enjoy the water without the hassle of buying racks, loading kayak on car, etc.

Slow shipping. No shipping info sent. Slow customer service response times. Was told it would take two weeks and it's taking a lot longer than that. Items shipped separately even though website states they will be shipped together.

I recently purchased 2 Kayaks, (Bay ST and Beach). Oru Kayak customer service was really good. They were always in constant communication with me on regards the status of my order and shipping. I had my 2 kayaks shipped to Vancouver, BC without any problems. The products arrived in perfect conditions, just as expected. I would definitely recommend this company.
