Very very bad company. They will ask you 170/month. But no customer send to you. And you will spend near £2000/year, but no service. No customer from opentable. I will never use them again,waste money and waste time
Open Table seems to think they control your relationship with restaurants by bullying and intimidation. Making a reservation thru them has always been combersome as they add no value to the process. I research my own restaurants before I book. Yet some restaurants seem to overly depend on them. Today I spent 30 minutes jumping through hoops multiple times to verify who I am (I have had an account for more than 5 years). (They are worse than my bank-for no reason.) By the end of it, they'd managed to alter my reservation to 2 days earlier than the original request and then because I didn't realize I had a different reservation, (because I was so worn out "barking like a dog and standing on one foot" for them), I was labeled "a no show" and I was asked to explain myself. Or else! Seriously? Who are they? Are they going to "punish me?" Yes, they promise to black ball me with that restaurant and others. There are always restaurants to eat at. I don't need them.
Absolute worst database of restaurants and a location search engine I have ever used. Pointless to try and find a restaurant and make reservations.
Some restaurants apparently require a deposit. OpenTable charges your card and takes the deposit. When you go to the restaurant, make sure you request they refund your deposit.I did not do this, because I was not aware I had to. This was not made clear by opening on its website. I contacted openTable and they told me they had no responsibility and could not do a refund even though they charge my card because the restaurant has to process the refund.
My Open Table account shows that I have made 19 reservations in the last 3 years but only 2 of the 19 result in rewards points. What nonsense. My attempt to question this results in being serviced by a bot and I end up a loop of the same questions but no answers.
In general OpenTable is decent for booking restaurants, but its quality has fallen in recent years. Fewer restaurants use them, points have been devalued, VIP status means nothing, and even their search function is less useful. You cannot, for instance, make it search for just the time you're looking for. They show you a bunch of restaurants that aren't available at the time you want. That's dumb. And worst of all, there's no easy way to give feedback to OpenTable anymore because everything goes through their useless chatbox. Clearly, they don't care what their customers think.
Made a reservation and provided an email. I chose to OPT OUT of marketing emails. They disregard that and are spamming me multiple times per day. You cannot opt out. If you give them an email, expect more spam, from them and probably other companies. Better to just call the resturant and cut opentable out.
Same rip off everyone else has reported. OpenTable messaged me to confirm my reservation by replying to their PREMIUM RATE 67368 number. I booked with a prepaid voucher so why would I need to confirm by replying with a text message that would cost me £5.00 Obviously this is simply a rip-off scam perpetrated by OpenTable. I would advise everyone to avoid having ANY dealing with OpenTable or any company that uses them.
They started off as being great, but the past few years it has been less then awful. Firstly you are MUCH better off to get a specific time and your number of people by calling the restaurant directly. Restaurants ONLY ALLOW A FEW TABLE AT UN-PEAK TIMES FOR OPEN TABLE MEMBERS. There is ZERO customer service at Open Table- and their rewards program is SO NOT worth It! Better to use rewards program of the specific restaurants that have one. To end my use every again with Open Table, is that their website is consistently having problems and very difficult to navigate/get on that coupled with zero customer service via live chat/on-line or a easily found customer service number to call- don't bother!
Received call supposedly from restaurant but wasn't. Asked for £20 deposit which I gave them as they had all my booking details including free format comment. Please just Google Fraud open table and read reports. It is outrageous this company can continue. Fraudsters then called back and tried to pretend they were Amex checking up but actually were trying to get more info! Tried to use my card for £440 in argos!
Goodbye after many years, have just seen my phone bill for sharing my booking via the app with 4 other people at £2.40 (65p per message!) and see other 15p charges for replying to confirm I will be attending at other bookings when receiving SMS from OpenTable.App deleted after many years of using and simply hadn't spotted. I suspect a lot of others don't realise. I'm sure it's in your small print of course conveniently hidden away and keeping you above the law.
A complete con of a company. Like many reviewers before me I booked a restaurant through OpenTable and received a text message asking me to "Reply 1 to confirm" my table, which I duly did. Two weeks later I noticed a 15p charge on my phone bill. Whilst this won't push me into bankruptcy, it is a devious scam and nothing less. OpenTable: hang your heads in shame. I will be spreading the word.
I have investigated this issue of OpenTable using a Premium Rate phone line to send booking details and ask for booking status conformations. You will be charged if you respond to their booking reminders or send the STOP to opt out of their reminder service. Open Table claim they don't get the fee but BT who charge me £0.13 per SMS Text, insist they pay the money to OpenTable. The Phone Paid Service Authority who are supposed to regulate this confirm OpenTable does use a premium rate line and should warn customers that they will be charged.
Rip off merchants ! Premium rate to confirm a restaurant booking ! Fortunately I have my spending cap set to zero so they didn’t make any money out of me but I had the hassle of emailing the restaurant direct ! Will think again about using restaurants who use these con artists.

Any restaurant who use OPEN TABLE as their booking agent should think again because these scammers charge for all texts and reply’s to their texts without advising customers that their text or reply’s to OpenTable are chargeable and outside any text allowances. I have been using this site for literally 15 years. While it's convenient to book reservations, in 15 years I have never gotten a reward. Not 10 cents. So while they're no doubt being paid by restaurants booked through their site, I think I'm done monetizing them if they can't in 15 years do anything for me. #ByeOpenTable.
Had Sunday lunch at the Harrison Pub Kings Cross. Had never been before but would certainly return.The restaurant has the feel of an old fashioned pub, the couple who run it are delightful & made us feel very welcome.The Sunday roast was delicious & every plate was wiped clean & it was reasonable for London prices.A great find

Completely frustrating and a waste of time. Made a reservation but could never log into my account and it won't allow me to create a new one with my phone number. Absolutely no way to speak with a human being to resolve the problem. 3 weeks later and I still can't get in. Once you automate something to the point where you offer ZERO customer service, you no longer deserve to have a business!
better off calling directly..... you get more information. i recently made a reservation at zahav/phila not realizing there's a $45 min per person if you want a 'complete' meal. if one choses 'a la carte items ' you will get almost nothing for the same money spent. trickery!

“1 isn't low enough”

Abysmal service, point system is a gimmick to attract users you won't get the points. Any complaint will be met with 101 reasons why they can't honor their promises Don't waste your time.

“A scam where the customer never wins.”

I have been an Open Table customer for five years. Every year I approach my $100 reward and every year my points expire. They collect their money and never pay out.

“Rewards are a SCAM!”

I have tried to use OpenTable rewards cards twice now and was humiliated both times when the payment was declined. OpenTable always blames the restaurant staff, but they will not give YOU the number for the restaurant to call if they have problems. This is FRAUD! Tip for consumers:This is FRAUD and should be investigated by the authorities. They should be shut down. Products used:I earned rewards that I cannot use because every time I try to use them, they are declined and OpenTable always blames the restaurant.

I left a one-star review for a restaurant and it was never posted to their website. In addition, when trying to contact support - there is NO human option. The chat bot forces you through a bunch of irrelevant questions with NO way to directly reach a human. Service Quality

That's it, that's the review. In the last few months Open Table has gone from being a relatively useful booking website/app to being completely useless. You effectively can't log into the website, and they've stopped sending emails to confirm reservations when you make them. So there's no way to confirm/double-check your reservation other than calling the restaurant. Maybe we should just all go back to doing that.

Made a reservation, ate at the restaurant, Ruth Chris Steak House last night and tried to contact them today per their instructions. Explained the whole stupid story on their chat, entered it and their automated response was to ask why I contacted them! No one ever available to speak with so no points after the aggravation! “Do not expect to redeem certificates - worthless”

I have use the service almost 100 times to reserve. It works fine, sometimes the venue will call to confirm, usually no problem at all. On the other hand, I am unable to redeem the points. I live in a smaller city with only a few dozen restaurants on opentable and they accept reservations but do not allow users to redeem points or use gift certificates at any of those restaurants. I need to go to another city to redeem. It is even worse, as there are multiple steps and complications to redeem a certificates. 1) you must log on and request the certificate. 2) you must find the email response which might be in your spam folder 3) You must choose a restaurant which accepts the coupon, and 95% do not accept them 4) you must print out the coupon, and once you do it is only good at that restaurant and can not be changed. 5) I have not been able to use the coupon, but I hear that restaurants do not treat customers well when the coupon is used. “Open Table is a joke”

I traveled to Seattle with my elderly parents last week. I made a reservation using Open Table for 6:00 at a restaurant on the water. After taking a rideshare to the restaurant from our hotel ($33 ride) we found that the restaurant was closed - and actually closes at 5:00. How does a "reservation company" make a reservation not knowing the restaurant's hours of operation? After scrambling around (on a Friday night) we found another place to eat. Very disappointing and unacceptable.

“Disappointing service from Kitchen”

We went to the Wellington recently. They were promoting a fish special. When three in our party ordered it we were told there were only two left. One of us then changed their order only to be informed there was only one left. We ordered a side that had the option of adding bacon, we did so but the side arrived without bacon. We also ordered a dish with pita bread for one of our party that cannot consume dairy. The dish arrived without the bread. When we asked we were told that the pita had dairy, that would be highly unusual. The poor service from the kitchen was accompanied by a 4% kitchen appreciation fee on our bill. A most unwelcome new fee especially given the service.

There is now no way to call OpenTable Customer Service anymore; you can only use their chat function, which has long queues and often disconnects on its own before resolving a problem. Remarkably, there is no way to change your email address to replace an old address without setting up a new account and merging the two accounts, which will cancel all your pending reservations and make your dining history inaccessible. We had a subpar experience at wildfire restaurant. After our dinner open table sent us a review request email. We shared our thoughts and felt our dinner and experience warranted the 1 star rating. We checked today to see if wildfire replied and found Open Table edited our review and gave the restaurant 4 stars. Total BS. If reviews are not honest they have no value. Sad.

I went last night with my husband and then I went for lunch today and I think they have changed cooks. Today the Pasta Pesto was horrible the noodles were over cooked (they were stuck together in clunks), it was too salty. Last night we had the Salmon and it was bitter and sweet and tangy to much of the different sauces, the asparagus was overcooked it was superb when I first went, bring the chef back. I will start maybe going to the one in Pembroke Pines from now on sad because this one is close to my job for lunch Service

Don' t rely on Open Table! More times than not I failed to get a reservation thru Open tabe and called the restaurant just to get the date and time slot I wanted. Those places that do not answer a phone to take reservations, well...if that is how little they value my patronage, I don't want to support their business. Aba here in Austin a prime example. “Breakwater Inn Restaurant”

I like the atmosphere at this Inn, but I would pricey for they offer. We were charged $20.00 for a 9 ounce glass of red wine. The seafood platter for two, $80.00 had 2 coconut shrimps, 2fried shrimps and a few calamari, with a small 1/2 of lobster for two people. For the Price I would have like to have had at least each a half of lobster, I found that it a bit chincy to provide only one 1/2 for two people.

“Follow-up review of Open Table”

I feel it necessary to add a follow-up of Open Table. My original review stated Open Table could not re-instate my points. This has changed since I wrote my original review. To be fair of Open Table, the service/communication with the staff was prompt and pleasant. They did show a genuine eagerness to resolve my log-in issues, which was the reason I contacted them in the first place. Shortly after writing the above review, I did received an email stating the points were re-instated. It is my opinion the points were not re-instated in response to the review, but because it was the fair thing to do. Thank you Open Table.

We had a good run, many years many reservations, and now, about 5 for 5 when your app, just does not work. I am not getting an error message, just an "unfortunately not working at this time" Message. And I have not abused this tool. I call to cancel whenever forced... very frustrating as you have locked in with MANY restaurants in Chicago.

“Worst Booking App Ever”

This app is the most UN user-friendly app I have ever experienced. It cancelled all of my reservation (I was forced to make 3 to accommodate our party of 10) and would not allow me to contact them. I tried to adjust it on the website, but the reservations didn't exist despite having both email confirmations as well as texts?! Tried contacting them by phone and after being on hold for more than 45 mins, moving from #6 in the queue to #3, it then said that there was an issue and I would have to try again later. I have written a 5 star review on a restaurant, it was accepted immediately. The next day I had a bad experience at a restaurant rated very high on OpenTable. I didn't understand. I wrote my review and gave the restaurant what they deserved: 2 stars. It didn't get published on OpenTable. I thought it was a mistake and wrote it again. It was blocked again. Apparently the restaurants must be paying them money not to allow bad reviews to be published. I will never use them again. Fake reviews, fake business.,

“Unable to use gift card”

Activate card, made reservation, at the time of pay my bill, restaurant do not take a card they do not know. Try Open table to do something. Impossible. Now they can not find my card information. I can see I'm not alone. Please give a cash card from Walmart, Target or else. Safer and can be used. I do have to add, Customer services did the job. Open Table Customer service very important

“South City Kitchen Avalon”

I have been going to the original SCK in both Midtown and Buckhead. Let me tell you SCK Avalon has them beat on everything, food quality, atmosphere, service (Christina is awesome) and more. I had the Risotto and selected Shrimp to go with it. It was the best risotto I have ever had. The place was full of folks celebrating the holiday season which made our experience even more perfect. This SCK has a large inviting bar area which is located as you walk into the hotel lobby area. Overall experience we had a lunch was a 10 out of 10, perfect score!

This site is a joke made a reservation for specific date and time. Restaurant never had our reservation so we didn't get to eat there. Would never use this site again it's a scam. And waste of time.
