Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between myheritage.de and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of myheritage.de. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of myheritage.de, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. myheritage.de is a suspicious website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. I like the cheek swab. Much easier than collecting 3ml of spit. Mailing in the sample made me uneasy. The package was too thick to meet envelope standards. There were no instructions about postage rates or methods. I ended up dropping it off locally at lab here in Houston but not practical for everyone else. I do not like the 50+ cents/day pricing to use websites tools, or their marketing methods.
Ben was amazing as he walked me through signing up for 5 years - He explained everything clearly and patiently and followed up with phone calls to make sure ever was up and running. I love using My Heritage as it has helped me expand my tree
06/24/2024 I had a great experience today with help to buy a subscription and to be in control of my renewal. Also had all my questions answered on how to do research and smart matches and to fix inconsistencies within the research provided by myself and others working on other parts of my family tree. Highly recommend.
The whole business model is based on "suck the customer in and milk them dry" In effect giving the the customer a cheap entry Eg DNA test to make further contact a disguised monthly fee which is actually an annual payment. Given that the DNA test can lead to life changing outcomes. There should be a clear pricing to start with. If you delay in joining My Heritage suddenly you are given an amazing reduction in price. Overall the ethos of this firm is questionable.
I had a problem logging into my Family Tree Builder app on my computer. I contacted Support at MyHeritage (after some difficulty wading through all the other help information), and promptly received a reply with instructions to update my version, in little more than an hour. I clicked on the link provided, installed the new version, and my login problem was solved in no more than a couple hours. Excellent service once I got into the contact window.
I was having trouble retrieving my Family Tree as my email address became out of date. I contacted the help email address and the support person Gabriela gave me very clear instructions on how to retrieve the Tree using a new email address. I was very grateful as there was a lot of information on the Tree that I didn't want to lose.
I am absolutely staggered what the DNA has been discovered from the 2 little swabs taken from my cheek. I am still going through the list of names of more than 8300 people. I found already a number of names that appear in my data base of the MyHeritage tree.Regards Antonius Timmer.
Very happy with the DNA kit results. Well worth the money. However, their marketing constantly targets you, by phone and email, you every time you log into your My Heritage account. Eventually I gave in and signed up for one years full subscription for full access to their database. I am from the UK.I have done extensive research already into my family background over the last 10 years.I am a little disappointed with the information available via their database. Even some very basic information, freely available via other sites, is not on MyHeritage. What they hold is centred on the USA. An example: my Great grandmother's death year, place of death: suggested New Zealand?? Mostly I have just transferred information from my historical records to my tree on the MyHeritage site. I will not be renewing next year.
I’ve never thought that taking this test I would find out that I have a different father and a whole new family that’s very big. I took this dna kit and then I ended up matching with a half aunt and a half first cousin then I ended up meeting my real father family. My half sister on my father side ended up uploading her raw data to this site so now I’m matching with her too. I never thought I was gonna end up with a whole new family doing this.
I tried many times to correct my order as It said delivery to Camilo Pajuelo, and all the three orders are for me, and my 2 sons. Trien to chat no answer, only a robot.Yet have not gotten my answer of how to put the correct names for the kits, depending on the person who will use it.
I really appreciated that My Heritage contacted me about the renewal that was coming in September. Karolina told me of various options that were available to me. After hearing about them I was able to make a decision for my membership. I extended it for 5 years at a very fair price. My Heritage is my primary source for research. I thoroughly enjoy the website and all if the fantastic tools My Heritage has provided. Thank you Karolina and My Heritage.
Re: the response before this review. Again, their bots, has to be because they do nothing, responded after that person named Rafael asked me to email him. Nothing happened. They are a fraud. Their bots and AI didn't do a thing. No refunds, no cancellation goes through. It is all a rip off.
I learned a second way to get into My Heritage using google. I also learned how to better navigate around My Heritage since i never had a lesson. Thank you for all you taught me, for sending me links to learn more, and for your patience. So appreciative. Susan Greenberg
Oldnews directly available to top tier subscribrs is greatly appreciated. I was able to locate one of my spouses great aunts thanx to oldnews.com
MyHeritage has allowed me and family members to connect and collaborate over long distances when it comes to preserving our family history.Besides the ability to create a family tree, I've also been able to find new cousins and other relatives through the MyHeritage DNA test kit. In addition, MyHeritage keeps adding new tech and AI features to help me tell my family story and reach out to the younger generations in my family.
Larry Brown as far as I know my DNA results were spot on or very close to what I know as to where my ancestors originated from.
I sent my swabs off in January, but still no results. Their website doesn't give any help and just loops back around to their FAQs. It doesn't seem like the employee humans, and if they do they can't be contacted. Best avoided.
Pleased to explore my DNA. It’s so fascinating to imagine a person’s real origins/ethnicity are nowhere to be found but in that unique molecule. You can also link your roots with things that run into your blood and understand yourself even more.
I found many more DNA matches in Ireland and the UK. It's really helping me narrow down locations for my immigrant ancestors.
I was signed up for a free month when I purchased my test - unbeknown to me. I have been over my emails and cannot find where I consented to this. $275 was taken from my card, by the time I discovered this a month had gone by and I was only given a 40% refund. Extremely disappointed as my whole family have used this service.

“Avoid scam”
Extremely disappointed with this service, I sent my DNA test in January and have still have received nothing back. Not only that but I have now been charged a further £114 for an annual cost when i cannot get a reply regarding my DNA test. No updates or correspondence at all, I feel like they just want the money with no interest in providing a fair service. I would avoid and try elsewhere and am now raising a dispute with my bank. Tip for consumers:avoid scam Products used:dna test Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Scam”
I was in My heritage DNA since 2022 were the change of services was $50, this year the changed me over $300 even do I wrote to customer services to cancel the SCAM subscription. This is an scam, there is not update since 2022 to now. Processing charges without providing services. I called then and emailed many times to get my money back without luck. They are scams Tip for consumers:Search for others providers 1st Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Tres agréable”
J'ai expérimenté plusieurs sites de généalogie MY HERITAGE est pour moi le plus performant compte tenu de sa "convivialité", le nombre de notifications, la vérification des incohérences et la réponse rapide suite aux demandes d'aides à distance. Il ne faut pas hésiter à le choisir!
“No customer service unless you pay”
I wanted to download my raw DNA file and attempted to do so using the instructions listed on the MyHeritage website. The option to download was not there. I then attempted to find out why this is by contacting their customer service but it only gives me the option to use the knowledge base which gives the same instructions that don't work. In order to speak or email a customer service representative you have to pay and go premium. Stay away from this company. Their results are basic at best and you cannot do anything with YOUR DNA as they keep it under lock and key evidently. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Don't use”
I was keen to do a DNA test so I paid £40 for the kit and signed up to the 1 month free trial. They deliberately waited 3+ weeks to send the kit which was their way of getting me to extend my free trial and pay an annual subscription fee. During the free trial period I tried to create a family tree and none of the records available were accurate. Absolute con artists. Service Value Shipping Quality
“Useless scam”
Useless scam. Doesn't really work at all. Very expensive and they charge 179,50€ a year from your Paypal account without notice, and it's impossible to get someone to answer your emails. Seems that their only goal is to cheat elderly people.
“Scam for $$”
I searched for free and some Discoveries came up. When I tried to view the Discoveries it said I needed a subscription. I signed up for the PremiumPlus Plan and still couldn't see the Discoveries. I called Customer Service and was told I would need to upgrade. Such a scam. I requested a refund but will take 7+ days to hear back. Service Value Quality
“I bought it and didn't receive it”
On November 24th, I bought a DNA kit and I still haven't received it. I have already sent an email, but I have not received a response. I also tried to contact the virtual assistant, but I didn't hear back. Upon checking with USPS, I found that the kit was not delivered due to an insufficient address. However, I verified that the registered address is correct. I am very disappointed! I still haven't received my money or my DNA kit. Shipping
“My review”
I gathered much scientific details here which were so meaningful to me. Am overally satisfied with you guys. Thanks
“All my family names are becoming public”
I cannot get a real person to communicate with my questions - or a good response. READ PLEASE- MY FULL FAMILY NAMES, GRANDMOTHERS MAIDEN NAME, GRANDFATHERS NAME, KIDS NAMES, EX HUSBANDS INFORMATION ETC. now comes up when I go to put information such as name - last name - on submitting a credit card for online purchases. This can only come from my account with my heritage (they do not respond to this situation). My information is not private. Are there any recommendations on how to deal with this? “Worst customer service”
Worst customer service in my experience. My parcel is stuck in another city, and I can't get through to the support service for more than a week - no one answers. I wrote to the support service email - no answer, they gave me a second email through the application in the comments - the same situation. I do not recommend
“I don't understand the positive reviews. I cannot make contact with this company.”
I was billed $191.40 for a year's subscription which I did not request. I received the email notifying me of this on 15 September but the email said I needed to advise if I didn't want this by 14 September. I emailed back and received no response. I also paid for two DNA tests and sent them more than 6 months ago and received nothing. I have serious concerns about how this company operates. I am trying to rectify these problems but contact is difficult (until now impossible) Tip for consumers:Simply stay away from this site. I have tried many ways to contact and it seems near impossible. Products used:2 DNA kits Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Service Requests Very Poor”
On January 6/23 I made the unfortunate mistake to subscribe to MyHeritage. I thought I was subscribing to a monthly subscription. When I realized my mistake I tried to contact their support system. I specifically said what time I would not be able to take a call. That is when they called. For a week I have sent emails and tried calling to see if I had any options. I have received no responses. Please consider carefully if you are thinking of subscribing
“Great experience”
This was one of my best gifts ever. I had the chance to find out so much more than I knew. Thank you guys
“Took advantage of a special offer, but all I got was not what I expected.”
When I opened up the website after paying 89 dollars for the "Premium" membership, I ran a query to find info on a relative. When it returned an answer with a name and date, I opened it, but instead of getting the information I was expecting, the My Heritage page displayed something like, 'to get this file you must pay $XX.XX for that information"... (to paraphrase). WHen I bought this, I expected to get information, not a scam to get more money out of me. They are not being up front with this. So I canceled by calling. They did not refund my money, but told me they recommed I continue to use this worthless crap for the remainder of the year. (I had canceled within MINUTES of finding this out). Then I received an email, showing me "how: to cancel- which is totally bogus. I called for help, and they appear to have caller ID, which sent me down some rabbit hole promising they would call back. (this is the second or third call) I called my bank and will try to reverse the charges on my card. Good luck with that. This is a rip-off for sure. Tip for consumers:Don't buy it. They are just there to take your money. Products used:ANcestry and Family Search Service Value Returns
“Why are my heritage trying to sell me a product before i even get my results back?”
I sent my swab off last week and today i get an unsolicited call on my mobile trying to sell me their premium package. The guy even told me how many people i've added on my family tree. I am enraged that the information which is personal and sensitive to me should be available to a sales force. I feel totally violated. I perhaps naively thought that the information we put on their famil; y tree was not public domain, it obviously is. I wish i hadn't bought this BEWARE! Service Value Shipping Quality
Mam dostęp do wszystkich informacji. Service
“Last minute billing problem”
My gripe with MyHeritage is not with the product or service, but rather with the way they bill their customers. I wanted to take a break and cancel my subscription for a period of time like I have done in the past except this year I forgot to put a reminder in my cell phone when my subscription ended. I received a notice on Aug. 30 that my credit card had been charged for the full price of a renewal subscription with no prior email or notice of any sort that my subscription was going to be renewed. I called the very same day to try and cancel as well as emailing. I received a return call the next day (Aug 31) from Adir who told me I could no longer cancel my subscription because my account had been charged. Seriously? One day later and no possibility of cancellation? That's unheard of. As a result, I am very dissatisfied with this company.
“Refund Request - Got the run around”
I ordered my DNA kit and received my results in a timely fashion. Not sure if these are legit now though. Anyway, a few days later I got a notification that I was charged $170 for a subscription that I did not sign up for. I immediately called to get a refund. I spoke to someone who said that they would have someone from the billing department call me within 24 hrs. They didn't. I called the next day and got the same story, I am currently on hold to attempt tp get a hold of someone to no avail. I feel like this is a scam. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
“Avoid these money grabbing scammers”
If i could give zero stars I would...avoid this company at all cost. They will rip you off £20 a month without sending out subscription reminders. Typical low practises of a USA firm... Beware Tip for consumers:These are professional thieves out to rip you off Products used:DNA kit Service Value
“Customer Service”
I am extremely pleased with how quickly my request was processed and resolved. I had requested a refund and within only 2 or 3 hours I have received a confirmation that the refund was processed and that money should return to my bank account within several working days. Great service at great speed!
“Charged automatically - Refund requested- no response from anyone at MyHeritage”
Very disappointed with the customer service. There customer support number goes un-answered and no one seems to action the call back requests or emails. They have wrongly charged me after my free trail period ended, even though i had cancelled my subscription in time. At this stage i have tried numerous times to contact them to no avail. Further more there is no way for you to delete your payment details from there website. - which is very unusual. Tip for consumers:Terrible customer support. Very shady company that does not seem to respond at all! Products used:MyHeritage dataplan Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“My tree was changed”
My family tree I have worked on for decades was altered. Names were changed from birth names to who knows. Daughters in law we changed to their mothers in law. When I complained I was told that there was "theorized genealogy"! Do not trust these people. I have no clue what they are up to. The person I dealt with "Daniel" was incredibly condescending. Top 5 Effective Ways To Spot a Scam Website [VIDEO]
There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:
How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
Our staff verifies that this service works and is trustworthy. For robust, essential protection, their Standard plan is a steal at just $8.29 for individuals, and you can extend that crucial peace of mind to your entire household with the Family plan (up to 5 users) for only $16.49. They also introduced the Unlimited plan starting from $14.99 that covers not only automatic data removals, but also unlimited custom removals available right away upon purchasing the Unlimited plan. It allows users to submit websites not yet covered by Incogni and get their data removed from there, too. They also offer a free exposure scanner that will give you an insight into what data of yours is exposed and where.
