movietickets.com Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives movietickets.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 86. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 86 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to movietickets.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning movietickets.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between movietickets.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of movietickets.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of movietickets.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. movietickets.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether movietickets.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether movietickets.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, movietickets.com.
Online Reviews of movietickets.com

- Score: 2.9
I absolutely cannot buy tickets on their site. I was given a movietickets.com gift card as a birthday present and cannot buy tickets on their website. Customer service was helpful at first. They walked me through the purchase process to make sure I was not doing it incorrectly, then they sent me a replacement gift card number. None of that worked. I still have a $25 balance on the card and cannot spend it. They told me they were having problems with their website, but offered no other solutions. When I asked for a refund, the friendly part of customer service stopped, and they reminded me of the terms of service in which they do not give refunds. If it walks like a scam and talks like a scam...I cannot recommend this service.
I was double-charged when buying a ticket to Avengers: Endgame. It happened because the first time I tried to purchase the ticket it gave me an error message and I got no e-mail. So I tried again and this time it worked. I noticed a few days later on my bank statement that I'd been charged twice so I tried to contact them about it, being perfectly polite and understanding. Three weeks later, I've received no reply. Never buy tickets from movietickets.com, go literally anywhere else.

“It's a scam!”
So I purchased 4 of these gift cards from Sams club. It's a scam. Do not purchase! I went on the site, followed directions and it gives me an error message "This card is no longer valid" on all four cards. I've reached out to Sams and they won't help me because it's a 3rd party vendor, I wish I would have read these reviews prior to my purchase, If Sam's club can't honor my refund, then why are they even selling them! Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“It truly is a ripoff!”
I read several reviews, most all were negative. I found one that was positive, so I tried paying for my movie tickets with the movietickets.com gift card. The website said my card number was invalid. There goes $50 down the drain!
“Completely agree with everyone”
Not something I would every purchase to give to someone. Purchased at Sams Club, was supposed to be for a particular local theater. After checkout received these movie.com cards. Fees are outrageous, pitiful. Stay away from movietickets.com Tip for consumers:Beware of extra fees
“HORRIBLE gift cards”
I bought a gift card multi-pack at my favorite big warehouse retailer. Went to use one today and discovered the cards have no PIN and therefore do not work on the Fandango site to buy tickets and there appears to be no other way to redeem them... epic rip off! Found no help searching online resources that might offer resolution. Its like this issue is top secret. To add insult to injury, the Fandango "help" link is so incredibly backed up (no surprise), I gave up after waiting 43 minutes for live chat assistance. Yep, I was that determined to resolve... however, "chat help" was a no show. NOT A FAN. Never "donating" my $ by default for these again.
“Scam artists...”
The website is one of the worst sites I have had to deal with. Charges "Convenience fee" per ticket (makes it more expensive than buying it at the theater itself). Do not support or tolerate a business like this.
“Fees, lousy customer service”
PLEASE stay away from this company. Just had experience trying to explain my card number not readable after scratching off. Customer Service issued a tough luck, cannot help. $25 down the drain. Even if I did finally guess the number, I would be forced to pay their fees and ticketing policies much HIGHER than just buying a ticket at my theater. Their price $10.20 + $1.35. My walk up price $7.50 Same show. Same time. Very deceptive gift card. STAY AWAY! RUN AWAY! Notify any store that carries this card of the scam. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Scammers and Rip Off Artists”
Like all the other reviewers I got one of these $25 cards which cannot be redeemed either online (code rejected) or at the theater. Calling the 888 number gets a recording and messages cannot be left (voice mailbox full). Next step is the Better Business Bureau.
“Just WOW...”
I have never been hung up on twice by the same company. No supervision on one of the busiest weekend for movies. Charged my credit card twice and told me they cant issue a refund. Asked to speak with a supervisor and was informed they would get back to me on Tuesday next week. Being in customer service for many years I would be firing a lot of their operators and I don't say that lightly, they are truly nothing but gate keepers for the higher ups. Pathetic...
“No customer service and they lie about refund/exchange process”
Movietickets.com gave a disclaimer online that stated before buying my ticket that I could make changes to my order so long as the movie had not played yet. Now I get an email back saying no changes to my order can be made and purchase I made was final. I tried calling their 1 *******457 number and all it does is give me a recording saying to email them my concern. There is no human connection. This company is a scam. Please don't support this fraudulent company people Save your selves from the trouble it puts people through over movie tickets
“Idiots”
If you plan on buying a ticket from these people dont, they cant manage there servers long enough to complete a purchase a continues error message has been showing for the last 24 hours only went here because my mom bought be these gift cards from sams club, well $#*! sams club for selling these and $#*! movie tickets.com
“GIFT CARDS DONT WORK”
I bought $100 worth of gift cards at Costco for $75 and the online purchase option does not work. I tried 2 different occasions, with multiple attempts and cannot get the promo code to work. When calling I was on hold for 10+ minutes only to be told the system is down & they could not help me buy them over the phone either. Then I was hung up on. This is a total rip off and scam. Don't buy them.
“Awful customer experience; rude customer service”
As a family with young kids, we made a mistake in a movie selection using a gift card and immediately called MovieTickets to get their help. The rep so was rude and not helpful in the least. She hung up on us. All FANDANGO for us going forward. Stay clear of movietickets.com!
“A terrible experience.”
I thought this would make nice Christmas gifts for several families. So, I spent hours writing notes and card telling them to enjoy movies on us. Then I tried it out myself to get two tickets. The website did not work as the cards said. There was a convince fee for each ticket. I decided the parents would kill us for sending these worthless cards that are not usable as the site does not work as the instructions tell. So- Costco sold them them at $10.00 off for 4 cards. We had faith in Costco to sell reputable items but they are at huge fault and should be liable for selling bogus items that pretend to be "gift cards" when they are really trash. Good thing Costco has a good return policy. I hope they will take all the gift cards in stock and send them back to the stupid useless company that just rips people off. Do not- Do not purchase this to give to anyone unless you dislike them and want to make them miserable.
“If I Could Give a Zero Star Review, I Would”
This is the worst website and app design I have ever seen. Both the site and the app crash regularly so it's next to impossible to actually purchase your tickets. Additionally, they have you create an account but you must re-enter the same, long loyalty card numbers over and over again as if they have never heard of you before. Finally, they charge an additional "convenience fee" per ticket even though their site and app are the most inconvenient I have ever used. Costco, make them fix their site and app or look elsewhere for a discount movie ticket provider.
“YES YOU CAN REACH THE WEBSITE AND USE THE GIFT CARDS”
Oddly enough, the website printed on the back of the gift cards gives a "404" error, but when I simply typed "movietickets.com" it worked like a charm. We selected our theatre, selected our tickets, and printed out the confirmation number. No problem at all. Yes, there are some added fees, but the total didn't seem too much higher than purchasing at the theater.
“Sorry, this transaction was unsuccessful.”
Tried multiple browsers and continuously get "Sorry, this transaction was unsuccessful." Called customer service and they had no idea. Honestly why go through movietickets.com when you can essentially go through the theater your watching the movie without a stupid $3 transaction fee.
“Terrible”
I received 4 $25 gift certificates for Christmas and have not been able to use them. Either the seats won't load to choose or it times out. Called customer service and the woman I spoke with was probably the rudest customer service rep I've ever spoken to. Still sitting here holding $100 in unusable gift cards...
“The worst website I have ever visited in my life”
Times out before a person can get their credit card in. It's not obvious how to redeem your movietickets cards so you end up charging it to your credit card and never use the stupid gift cards. Total rip off. Terrible!
“RIP OFF!”
I spent over an hour trying to log on and redeem my card. I swear they have made it difficult if not impossible to redeem a gift card. At least I wasn't able to enter a credit card like so many others and get ripped off even more. This place should be shut down.
“JOKE OF A COMPANY, STAY AWAY!”
Tried booking tickets, on three separate occasions it said 'Transaction unsuccessful' and I received no confirmation e-mail. However, later in the day I checked my bank account and the money for one of the transactions was taken! Called their customer service - spoke to the most miserable, rude and unhelpful woman ever. She said that they can't give me a refund, and the best she can offer is to pass on my issue to their technical team. JOKE! Called the cinema itself and they were more than helpful, turns out my transaction went through ALL THREE TIMES! They offered a refund right away, though. Seriously, stay away from movie tickets, it's a joke of a company, proper scam! Tip for consumers:Just don't bother Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“This company cannot be legit - No one answers phone and website down”
We get a giftcard from Movietickets.com for Christmas. This company must be a scam - I tried for 3 hours to call and try to access this website - with no luck. After about 3 hours - I finally got someone - and he said, sorry the site is down and he can do nothing to help. Seriously - if you were a real company - you'd be crediting folks accounts - and printing tickets.
“Beware!”
I received two gifts cards as a birthday present. Both for $25.00. One card worked, the other did not. I contacted movietickets.com and they asked for pictures of both sides of the bad card. I sent what they asked for and they replied a few days later telling me that they tried the card and it worked. When I tried using the card again, it didn't work. I contacted them again and my email was returned ''undelivered'' by *******@movietickets.com. I'm not trying anymore. They stole $25.00 from my friend and then ghosted. I'm telling everyone who will listen NOT to buy their gift cards. I kept the emails in case they attempt to deny what they've done.
“Terrible site and app!”
I purchased these gift cards from Sam's and tried to use them today with no success. At first I tried to use the app and it kept logging me out and when I finally got to a screen where I could purchase the tickets I would get a blank white screen or some type of error message. So then I tried to purchase them online thinking there was something wrong with the app, but again no success. The site was extremely slow. It would sometimes just sit there and eventually time out. I then tried to call customer service and received a busy signal ever time I called. So, I never could get through to customer service. After spending an hour trying to purchase tickets we finally gave up. Do not purchase these gift cards
“Defaults settings to rip you off”
The default settings are for today's date so if you purchase tickets, make sure to change the date to the one you want right before you pay. I did not check again before i paid and when i realized after receiving the confirmation minutes later, i contacted the help desk who said that since the show i had tickets for started within 2 hours, they would not refund or exchange.
“Gave a second chance”
I too had a terrible experience on Mon., Dec. 26th and Tue., the 27th. I figured it was probably due to the holidays. We tried for hours to try to purchase tickets for Tue. (which is the busiest day of the year for movies). I gave up and decided to wait a day. Had no problem. Ordered my tickets, picked my seats and printed my tickets at home. Walked into the theater and handed my printed tickets and did not have to fight the Tuesday crowds. I think the key thing to remember about all the complaints made on Dec 26 is most likely the high volume of ticket purchases and/or possibly people employed by the company were on vacation and the system was overloaded.

Top 5 Effective Ways To Spot a Scam Website [VIDEO]
There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:
How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
Our staff verifies that this service works and is trustworthy. For robust, essential protection, their Standard plan is a steal at just $8.29 for individuals, and you can extend that crucial peace of mind to your entire household with the Family plan (up to 5 users) for only $16.49. They also introduced the Unlimited plan starting from $14.99 that covers not only automatic data removals, but also unlimited custom removals available right away upon purchasing the Unlimited plan. It allows users to submit websites not yet covered by Incogni and get their data removed from there, too. They also offer a free exposure scanner that will give you an insight into what data of yours is exposed and where.
