moviechat.org Review

The Scam Detector website Validator gives moviechat.org a low-to-medium trust score on the platform: 48. It signals that the business could be defined by the following tags: Doubtful. Medium-Risk. Alert.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same issues. So, why this low score? We came up with the 48 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to moviechat.org's industry. The algorithm detected potential high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors noted in the Doubtful. Medium-Risk. Alert. tags above. Long story short, we caution you about using this website. But let's explain in more detail.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning moviechat.org, let's dive deeper into the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between moviechat.org and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of moviechat.org. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of moviechat.org, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. moviechat.org is a suspect website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether moviechat.org has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether moviechat.org boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, moviechat.org.

Moviechat is a terrible site filled with terrible people. There is very little discussion of films and it is a bunch of racist trolls arguing about politics. Avoid.
Some leftist complained that MovieChat is all MAGA. That's absurd. There is at least as much leftist propaganda and whining as there are conservative comments. But the fact that both are allowed pisses off leftists, who can only abide their own point of view being aired. The trouble with MovieChat is that there's far too much ideological bickering and flaming, instead of talk about movies. There are a lot of frequent commenters who seem to have nothing better to do with their lives than spend hour upon hour insulting each other back-and-forth like children.
It's the only decent site for discussing movies, TV shows and just about anything else: books, music, games, comics, actors, trivia, etc., as well as a separate board for political discussions. I appreciate the clutter-free simplicity of the site, too. They have (mostly) great members there, too.Another great thing about this site is that most of the IMDb message boards and comments were imported before they shut it down.
The Internet Movie Database shut down it's forums a few years ago and I needed a place to ask questions about my favorite movies. Last year I found Moviechat. I signed up and never got confirmation to start typing my questions.
MOVIECHAT IS A WONDERFUL SITE...GREAT PEOPLE,CONVERSATONS,GAMES,POLLS,MOVIE WATCH ALONGS...AN ENDLESS WELL OF ENTERTAINMENT.
This is the perfect replacement for IMDb. An amazing site with individual pages for every film, tv series, actor, musician and film industry person you can imagine.
Someone elses review summarised this in 4 words. "American politics ruins everything"So there's only one reason to be on this site over IMDB - the forums. And the forums depend on who uses them. So the quality and enjoyability of this site depends on the other forum users. Specifically, (as usual) their political affiliation. So that's what this review is about.Run by MAGA's, infested by MAGA's. Not a pleasant place to be.Evidence suggests the moderators are MAGA's, which make parts of the site make sense. I'd say avoid any forums on MC where there are deluded MAGA rants. But it's all and any of them. It's like smelling an open toilet. It gets everywhere. general procedure:MAGA squeals about a comment, that comment gets removedSomeone raises issue with a MAGA comment, that someone gets told they need to accept opinions, and to block the MAGA userIsn't it amazing how vaguely the TC's can be interpreted? MAGA's have this ability to tell you what other people are thinking"their comment wasn't intended to offend, yours was"MAGA thinking. As we have found out, when the admin use the term free speech, we know they mean 'speech they agree with'. Trying to get any sense out of an admin MAGA is like trying to get a turing test result from a watermelon. The admin are content with the 20 extremely loud mouthed MAGA's on the site, and are unaware of the people who make the wise choice not to go anywhere near the site because of them. (would you want to smell a toilet?)I think it's best just to let them scream amongst themselves. It's what they do well.Other than that it's very basic. no signature option, no profile information, no thread view count. maybe there are far fewer users than the site owners want people to see. maybe that's what they want. and the ignore feature isn't 2-way. so if you ignore someone, they can still see you. which. isn't an ignore feature.
Best movie website ever. There is a movie club on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Come join the fun!

“Waste of time”

50% of the posts come from some troll who keeps, for some reason, yelling at everyone and saying stupid stuff. Until this day, he hasn't learned how to use the Caps Lock button. The site attracts a lot of people with various mental and pathological problems. It's kind of sad. You can't call this a movie site, just a bunch of people doing random stuff. The site is a waste of time.

“Moviechat rocks”

I have been with this website for 6 years after imdb closed its message boards. I have been entertained endlessly. The content just keeps on growing. There is a movie club on Friday and Saturday nights where you can watch movies on Tubi with other posters and comment on them. Some good people to hang out with. Yeah there are some mean posters but they can easily be avoided by putting them on your ignore list or just simply scrolling by. The moderators do a good job of removing posters who are unruly. Join up and join the fun! Service Value Quality

“It's the best successor to IMDb's message boards.”

If you liked IMDb's boards, MovieChat has preserved them. Just like IMDb's boards, there's some good characters and some bad. But really, it's the only place which offers discussion for every film ever made and every actor who's played even a walk-on role in a movie. Valuable resource.

“Great site”

I signed up on movie chat when imdb cancelled their message boards. I have met some great cyber buddies there. Have also gained a plethora of knowledge on movies!

“Too woke”

This site is full of left wing lunatics and woke crackpots. Everything discussion gets ambushed by over sensitive libtards complaining about racism and misogyny. Avoid at all costs! Shipping

“MOVIECHAT ROCKS”

MOVIECHAT IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO HANG YOUR POSTING HAT...SOLID PEOPLE...GOOD CONVERSATION...MOVIE NIGHTS...TRIVIA...CONTESTS...GAMES...THE MODERATION IS SOLID AND THE SPEECH IS AS FREE AS YOU WILL FIND...MOVIECHAT IS EASILY THE PREMIERE PLACE ON THE INTERNET TO TALK ABOUT MOVIES,TV SHOWS OR ANYTHING IN THE WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT. Service Value Quality

“It's dead, Jim!”

The site had potential but the owner disappeared or died. The place is stuck in 2017. Too much political $#*!. American politics ruins everything.

“Great site for Film related chat.”

It's a mirror of IMDb, so a thorough representation of the industry. The threads go back over 15 years and it's a wealth of information. Service Quality

“Awful site”

The site is filled with racism, misogyny, transphobia and alt-right propaganda in almost every thread. The mods tolerate and even endorse such behavior. Banning users for defending themselves from trolls. Avoid!

“No Place to Chat About Movies :(”

The Internet Movie Database shut down it's forums a few years ago and I needed a place to ask questions about my favorite movies. Last year I found Moviechat. I signed up and never got confirmation to start typing my questions. I contacted a number of administrators from the help center and only one replied that the person in charge will eventually get to my e-mail. One year later I am still waiting. This site is poorly administered and should be avoided. I will continue to find a better forum for my film queries.

“Political/racist cesspit with biased admins”

Movie chat is a toxic echo-chamber for the alt-right, you will frequently find people writing endless racist posts about celebrities and minorities while spreading conspiracy theories about Covid and the government. Not that I follow any narratives, but the amount of bigotry on this website is enough to make your skin crawl. If you dare speak up about it or try to refute anyone's claims then you will be deleted and banned by the admins, despite you not breaking any website rules of conduct. Merely being a dissenting voice against the hive mind is enough to be blocked from using it. Moviechat is less of a film discussion site and more of an extremist subreddit. Tip for consumers:Don’t go on this site

“Garbage site”

Garbage site with garbage administration. This site is saturated with racism, homophobia, hate speech, and misogyny. The administration is extremely unbalanced. The site should be shut down. Service Value Quality

Top 5 Effective Ways To Spot a Scam Website [VIDEO]

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.

Our staff verifies that this service works and is trustworthy. For robust, essential protection, their Standard plan is a steal at just $8.29 for individuals, and you can extend that crucial peace of mind to your entire household with the Family plan (up to 5 users) for only $16.49. They also introduced the Unlimited plan starting from $14.99 that covers not only automatic data removals, but also unlimited custom removals available right away upon purchasing the Unlimited plan. It allows users to submit websites not yet covered by Incogni and get their data removed from there, too. They also offer a free exposure scanner that will give you an insight into what data of yours is exposed and where.
