I received an email that I am eligible to receive $250 resort certificate if I arrive the resort by November 30, 2024 and call to reserve dates by August 7, 2024. So I called to reserve the date and was told to pick up this certificate when I check-in. However when I checked-in, Marriott Vacation Club told me they had never heard of $250 resort certificate and refused to honor although I showed them the email. Later I declined to purchase the Marriott Vacation Club points. It is unfair to people who lock in this lifetime contract and Marriot can increase the yearly fees to pass the inflation to people and points owner cannot exit the contract. The sales said this can be passed to the children as an asset. This is not an asset, but a huge liability. The sales refused to show me the contract. This is a red flag. They want you to sign without reading the contract. They also wanted me to finance through them with 10% interest rate. They said I would save a bunch of money in next 20 years. I showed the sales to use my corporate codes to book on Marriott website. It was cheaper than the points system. It was funny.
To sum up our experience with Marriott Vacation Club, we received a series of false statements over a period of 11 years to increase our membership level. We now realize that the lies told to us directly resulted in our buying additional points and increasing our membership level. Each time, almost immediately we discovered that the resorts we wanted were not available for the periods we needed, so we banked points into the next year. The next year, when we tried to book, the resorts we wanted were still not available for the points and times we needed. Then, with our points about to expire, we found availability for a few nights at resorts during the off-season. When we visited the resorts we could book, we asked about the difficulty of finding availability and were told that we would have to buy more points to have a better booking window. We were told that we needed to get to Select Level to have a booking window that would guarantee we could book whatever we wanted. Over the next several years we found ourselves falling into a pattern where we banked every other year and took vacations at resorts where we could find availability. These were not the top Marriott resorts, or they were in the off-season. We couldn’t travel even if we did find a resort due to the excessive costs. Meanwhile when we asked for help from an employee that we know by name, he stated he could not help and that we had to be careful with the MVC salespeople because they did not follow the rules and made claims to customers that were wrong. He said the only place where the rules had to be followed was at the central customer service center where he worked. He verbally admitted that the MVC salespeople make false claims and violate their own company policies. Unmistakable evidence of collusion in their plan to mislead the public.
In June 2024, my husband and I visited the Myrtle beach, SC Marriott and attended their sales promotion for the vacation club. A man named KARL was our salesperson and he assured us that we were not buying a time share. Since my husband travels extensively and is a Marriott Bonvoy member, we felt comfortable that this vacation program was not a scam and had a chance of being a good program. We signed up, paid the downpayment and were told that anytime, if we decided that this program was not for us, we could call Marriott and they would buy this back from us. He also assured that it was easy to book reservation, all we had to do was to go on line or call the call 800 number and book the next vacation.Another issue: As a spouse, I did not get automatically registered for Marriott Bonvoy membership, nor receive points, as we were promised by the sales guy. When I inquired, the answer was that I was not primary account holder and the system did not get set up by the sales department for my account.In July, we started receiving a lot of paper documents that we are a time share owner. We were very confused and concerned. As a note , we are in our Sixties and very cautious about what is out there targeting our age group. We also did not get any e mails or phone calls as to how to use this program. No welcoming e mail or letters, no account numbers. NOTHING. The only time we heard from Marriott was to collect dues and loan papers.My husband set up his on line account in October and called to make trip plans. Each time the site showed no availability. We couldn’t make trip plans even months ahead. The Web site had an error message that came on. Extremely frustrated by being lied to and terrible customer service we received from sales and management of the sales. We called all the following numbers listed below to get help. It took us about 10 hours of work to figure out that we were in trouble with this company and been scammed.If we had read all the negative google reviews regarding this vacation club, we wouldn’t have joined. We just trusted Marriott as a company which in hindsight was wrong.Reservation line 877- 204-1239Owner services line 800- 845- 4226 (A rep told us that the web site is not working well and we did not have enough points to even travel for one week to our designated destination)Advocate line 800- 936-6824 ( were told that we had to plan 13 months in advance to travel)Marriott 843-692-5500 Extention #5New member services 800 519-6824Exit services 866- 682- 4547Ron Hunt, supervisor of KARL 301-518-6742Ron Capps, Supervisor of the office 843-692-5601Askley Pearce, Manager: The office refused to provide his number. We e mailed him with no reply. Finaly we connected with him via phone calls and he did not have much to offer.We called the exit department and asked if they would buy back our membership. The lady laughed and said they don’t do that. There is no availability for that kind of service. Once again Sales guy LIED.We are going to send this letter to BBB and post this on Google reviews for everyone to read how manipulative and scam this program is. We will terminate this membership on our own.Please be aware that the Marriott Vacation Club is not what it sounds to be, Pure rip off.
This is yet another time-sharing scheme that may be misleading because it carries the 'Marriott' brand. Do the math and don’t fall for it. I’ve read many reviews and completely agree: it’s great revenue for them, but offers no tangible benefits or savings for the owners. In fact, you don’t truly own anything. According to economic theory, ownership implies that an asset holds value beyond your personal perception—others, or the market, must recognize its worth and be willing to pay for it if you decide to sell.
Marriott Vacation Club membership is likened to quicksand. We kick ourselves often wondering as to how we fell for the sales pitch over and over again and being at the Presidential level. The properties are descent and some are great but the issue is that inventory for MVC owners is few compared to the number of owners. 9 times out of 10 we are still not able to book a venue we want to go at the time we want to go. Keep in mind that because of our high level status we can book 13 months in advance. We still cannot get into popular destinations trying to book 13 months in advance. We often book online to some of the popular destinations as non-members paying cash because membership does NOT have privileges. You are actually last in line to book and not valued by the venue operators. Don't fall for the good sales pitch like we did. We would sell our membership for half the price if we could. Any takers?
Very hard to use the points. Hard to find availability. Just called the member services, the representative name Mary is very helpful. But unfortunately she can’t do much given the very complicated, restrictive use of the points. Bonvoy, MVC, Sheraton & Westin supposed to be one company but has different systems and not talking to each other!! You will end up loosing points!!!
This is a total SCAM! They offer and promise 3 nights at a reasonable price, then when you attempt to book those nights they never have rooms available at that price during the weekend and in mild season! what they offer is availabe rooms during working days and in winter time at the beach. Total SCAM, run away from these liers that are also using Marriott name in a fully misleading way, as they are NOT even part of Marriott anymore! BIG SCAM, shame on the company and those who operates it, as part of the problem!
We have been Westin Villa owners since 2006. It was a wonderful program for many years. Then they merged with the Marriott Vacation Club and it has ruined the entire experience. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. The Owner Services people won't help you and will give you the wrong information. I am so frustrated with the program.
1. Having a week in a resort? Very costly, Maintenance fees getting higher every year and are more or less equal to the fees, you have to pay, when you are not an owner. So why to pay 10 thousands for a week?2. Unfortunately we had decided in addition for the Destination Point program. Don´t do this: They promise flexibility, but you rarely get a change to book, what you want. And the points finally expire. 3. Want to resale your shares? There is almost no market for the ownership weeks. The sales team promised, that Marriott will rebuy a week, when necessary. Feedback of Marriott: We don´t have re-purchasing programs at all, unless more than 95% of the resorts are sold out. But this is not the case at all. Proposal of Marriott: You can cancel your week(s), than you don´t have to pay anymore the maintenance fees. But your investment in one week? Has a value of 0€! They basically ask you to buy a week for ten thousands of Euro, and than cancel it at 0€. Unbeliefable! 4. Marriott as a company seems is profit oriented. That´s not a problem. But, definitively a problem is, that this company is not at all customer oriented. Very process driven. A voice of a customer is a disturbing issue, but doesn´t change the system. Very nice people try to calm you down. But very strict rules in favour of Marriott, but not in favour of people, who want to spend uncomplicated holiday weeks.
I bought a MVC because I was told all the place I could vacation and they were merging with Four Seasons, Westin, Sheraton and even more properties so there would be thousands of resorts. I can NEVER get a property booked. All that is ever available is Utah, Wyoming, etc. I am in this for thousands and outrageous dues that keep increasing. DO NOT BUY.
Purchased package Dec 2023 in NYC office What a scam. I am lifetime Marriott fan but this has turned me off. I just looked at 10 resorts over 12 month period and non have availability. They made it seem so easy in presentation. I am a car salesman and they got me. I have spent hours on website and nothing is ever available Please do not purchase. Now I am stuck paying yearly maintence fees. Rather take that money and use Marriott Bonvoy. So much easier
The sales pitch is exactly that....a sales pitch. in reality, its ambigous at best, the website is god awful, takes 10 minutes to log in (not a one time issue - every single time), during the sales presentation, they make is seem like its really simple to book, its flexible....not at all. nothing is available to you. everything is booked, yet if you go to the open market, there are rooms available for cash, its is the worst purchase ever. i state, worst purchase ever. you would think a multibillion dollar company that is backing this, would have world class web UX.....its like they hired kids out of college to design this site. im not sure if they do this on purpose so you cant use the points efficiently. i would easily eat 25% of the cost just to get out of it....but resale is a joke. they make it seem like its a real estate investment.....make not mistake, it is not....dont be fool by its a deeded grant that you can pass on to your kids....its a steaming pile of doodoo.

Absolute waste of money and will do anything to get out of this agreement. In talks with an attorney. Much cheaper to book directly with an agent foe vacations. MVC is NOT and investment and the maintenance fees NEVER end!
I'm an ex-owner, one thing you all need to ask before you sign on the bottom line is to ask the club to advise you how many unit-weeks have been sold at that location. I don't think you will get an answer as they have probably sold more unit-weeks that are available. This is why it's almost impossible to book your weeks and availability is so dire. We have been owners for over 23 years and have absolutely no regrets. We have created so many memories with our children, friends and even by ourselves from Hawaii to the Caribbean and many places in between, including Owner Cruises! We continually go to sales presentations to learn about new ways to enjoy our timeshare ownership and have never been pressured to purchase more, most recently in Aruba. However, we are sure in the near the near future we will expand our portfolio to enjoy even more good times with friends and family!

We purchased a package to return for a presentation for over 1200.00. They never had availability and then told us they could not honor the package. Horrible company and do NOT believe anything they say. They basically stole our money. How can you charge someone for nothing?????

I'm an owner for 18 years. Interval are just money draining as is Marriot. The maintenance has doubled since purchased and yet our resort looks shabby and outdated. Plus I could book a week for cheaper than my maintenance fee. They said, they would open a resale office but no sign of that. I would not recommend Marriot vacation club. To even exchange within Marriot you must join interval which is now I believe owned by Marriot. A complete mis sell and rip off.
