Is kadabracon.com Legit?

Would not recommend this con. the venue was small so there was overcrowding, there was also only one set of bathrooms and no family bathrooms which is inconvenient. They also had some voice actors set up by or in front of exits which is very unsafe if an emergency were to happen. I’ve also been reading some other reviews about them discriminating against a transgender person which is never okay. This con was not safe and not done properly, personally I’m not wasting money on this con again.

Venue was packed to the brim with vendors that had no say where their booths went. Booths also blocked the fire and emergency exits. The lights were dimmed making it hard for everyone to see, causing everyone to bump into things/people. The restroom ran out of toilet paper and soap. The staff was overly rude to guests/attendees/celebrities. No bag checks, and refused to let people who needed medication take it. Not to mention they denied someone serious medical attention. Save yourself your money and time and avoid this convention.

Absolutely awful con, from overcrowding to poor handling of emergencies to countless people being discriminated against and made to feel unsafe. Con staff didn't let my friend bring his seizure medicine into the after party, causing an almost five minute delay in supplying it when he DID have a seizure. And no accountability has been taken by the convention. Unprofessional and untrustworthy.

Despite how small the convention was I had a great time with my dad. I can even say that the cosplay contest was awesome to see I hope to come back to it next year!

About KadabraCon - yep, worst convention ever. I guess I'll also put in my 2 cents. For those who don't know, I am the 'Anime Gone Metal' dude. The guitar shredder guy of countless comic cons and Anime conventions, etc. And I am a professional musician... I was supposed to perform a concert at this convention, but it didn't happen. Lack of communication, honesty and even professionalism. I was told I had a hotel reserved... that was a lie. Wouldn't even give me a reservation number or confirmation number... so I sure as heck knew I wasn't even going to get paid a performance commission either. I tried calling and texting... nothing... I knew right then and there it would've been a bad idea to go, not to mention how badly I already got screwed over preparing for this. I sincerely would've just been content having my hotel covered since it's a new convention... but not even that or the decency to communicate the truth with me. I took off 3 days of work, (I'm a guitar teacher as well by the way), just to take part in what I thought would've been a great and fun event. As a result, I lost a lot of money from not teaching and that can't be recovered. So to fellow musicians and professional performers, if you value your work and don't want to get screwed over, don't try to book with this convention.

I had a great time at KadabraCon. The venue was small and packed but I think the Con is new so hopefully they will get a bigger venue. Overall I thought it was a fun experience!

A trans man was discriminated against by a kadabracon employee while abiding by Texas law regarding bathrooms. Under Texas law, people must use the bathroom that aligns with their birth sex, which this man was doing by being in the women’s bathroom. The man was not causing a scene, but instead sitting and decompressing with several other people on the benches in the bathroom. The employee, acting on complaints of “a man in the women’s restroom” committed an act of gross discrimination, leaving the man with no option but to leave the only bathroom in the venue he had legal right to use. Remember, under Texas law, if he were to use the men’s restroom he would have been vulnerable to further discrimination, arrest, or assault.Kadabracon has demonstrated that they hold no space for trans people, that they will force them to violate state law or else to leave, and that they wish to exclude trans people from their events by giving them no safe place to relieve themselves or to simply exist in view of others. It is a violation of human dignity and human rights.Where was he supposed to go when he needed to use the bathroom at the event he paid to attend? To the men’s room, where he would be in violation of the law? Or the women’s room, where he was just forced to leave even though he is in compliance with the law? Remember that he was just sitting and talking with friends about anime; for what reason should he be asked to leave? Where else could he have gone to use the bathroom for any purpose? Was he supposed to leave the venue and come back? Why? Simply on the basis of him being trans? Then that is discriminatory on the part of Kadabracon and should be punished.

If it’s not a safe place for EVERYONE, is not a safe place at all. If they don’t respect trans people, they really deserve your money? You really gonna finance this project? I don’t think so.

This convention has been openly transphobic and is denying people access to bathrooms

My name is Parker, I was an attendee at this convention and hosted a panel voluntarily. On the second day of con I started to get very overstimulated by the crowd and sounds due to how small the venue was, so my friend and I headed to the girls restroom to relax on the lounge couches in there (Like other people have done as well). *Now before I get more into this review I would like to state I am a transman who is currently medically transitioning (On Testosterone) so this review deals with transphobia and WARNING mentions of PTSD violence.* While my friend and I were sitting on the couch in the bathroom we were just talking about some anime's until a staff member rudely interrupted our conversation and said I needed to leave. I took immediate notice that she was just looking at me so I asked “Why do I have to leave? Is it because I am sitting on the couch?” She then responds saying “We have been getting multiple complaints of a man in the bathroom”. Again I am on testosterone so my voice is lower and I am more defined with my body but I was wearing a tight shirt and even with my binder you could still see a visible chest. I didn’t want to jump to anything so I wanted to clarify to the staff member “Oh well I am a transman meaning I was born biologically a female so for safety and also due to legal reasons (Texas laws/rights) I can only use the bathroom to my assigned sex or a family bathroom” She still told me I had to leave. I explained 4 TIMES that I had a right to be in the bathroom. She was starting to get verbally aggressive so then I asked “So where do I go when I need to use the bathroom…” She told me she doesn’t know and to take that up to the head of the venue. The other guest in the bathroom that were also sitting on the couches or at the mirrors to freshen up asked if they were kicking me out, I responded with yes and they told the staff that I had EVERYRIGHT to be in this bathroom. Other guest were even trying to tell this staff member this isn’t right but she wasn’t having it. My anxiety started to overwhelm me as I already have PTSD from bathroom violence due to me being trans and gay. As we were leaving another guest asked if she seriously kicked us out and we responded yes due to transphobia. The rest of my day was ruined. Even that next Sunday was ruined because I was terrified to go to the bathroom and even scared that the wrong crowd heard the wrong version of the story and would do something (Again PTSD not the first this has happened either) This staff member put me in a very dangerous situation and potentially other members of the trans community as well. This was straight up transphobia, even when they told us that anyone is welcomed and safe here at Kadabracon. I am now hearing that Kadabracon is NOT taking responsibility for ANYTHING. I will not stand for this. We should all have the right to the bathroom. We should all a right to be safe. MY (OUR) VOICE WILL BE HEARD. 🏳️‍⚧️♥️🏳️‍🌈

As a guest and a cosplayer, the neglect of medical needs was astonishing. As a person with medical disabilities(autism ontop of a seizure disorder) it was horrifying to know that bags wete never checked furing the main con event, anyone could of brought amytbing in that could of dangered another human being, but when the rave came around, bags all togetehr were denied entry, not even bags rhat were for medical purposes(which mine were) not only had i have to change out of a costume that had actuve wires(it was lined with leds and when sweating its not good) but to have my meds with me when a certan time came aroudn for me to take them, i was denied. Changing in the back kf my feiends mothers car o top of having to leave my medications outside in the parking lot was unsettling to me amd made me highly stressed. I told them multiple times i needed them but they refused. Later on in the rave me and a few friends and some other atendees went to relax in the bathroom due to anxiety, i dont remeber much of what happened but i did end up havung a severe seizure that lasted mote then 5 minutes ontop of a relapse, i was supposed to have my medicne on me to take but they refused to let me have it. Only then in the middle of my seizure they allowed a friend of mine to bring my bag in. It was so bad i had to be taken out of the venue via stretcher and taken to the hospital. The owner just stood there while i had my seizure and said "she(depsite me being a trans male and is aware) shoudl t be here if she has epilepsy (keep in mind i dont have epilepsy, theres different types of seizures). Proceed to dismiss my medical emergency, the following day i amde sure to take my medicine and only planned tk attendd the last day for a few hours because i wasnt feeling th4 best but didnt want to miss the last day(im stubborn) he ran into me and all he had to say was "glad to see your back and didnt run away from the con" at the time i didnt think much of it but not once did he asl if i was okay or how im feeling, be caref more about hoany people attended isntead of the well-being of his attendees
