hsbc.com.hk Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives hsbc.com.hk one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 86.9. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 86.9 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to hsbc.com.hk's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning hsbc.com.hk, let's look closer at the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between hsbc.com.hk and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of hsbc.com.hk. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of hsbc.com.hk, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. hsbc.com.hk is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether hsbc.com.hk has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether hsbc.com.hk boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, hsbc.com.hk.

HSBC HK can close down your account and business account without providing any clear explanation. Their decisions are final, and there’s no higher authority to challenge them. Even when asked for a reason, the response is often vague: "Having reviewed and considered all the relevant information and the documents provided by you and the Bank’s record, we regret that the account closure decision remains unchanged." This lack of transparency leaves customers confused and frustrated.
Very poor global payment service for USD payments or to USA based banks. HSBC HK charges 65HKD per online payment, but they send the payment through HSBC USA which charges $25! (x2 if there are issues with the payment). Totally excessive (the receiving banks do not charge anything). They claim that HSBC USA is used when no intermediary bank is specified by the client, but this is not true. Even when specified or when the payment is to a USA based bank they route the payment through HSBC USA to get their $25 fee. And to add to this, they have managed to make processing errors on 2/3 payments I did over the past few months (with HSBC USA charging me 2x$25).
The HSBC closed the branch 2 miles form us. The nearest one now is 15 miles away in Darlington, UK. Getting appointments is virtually impossible without visiting the branch in person and returning up to 4 hours later. Yet again today the online app wouldn't allow me to arrange an appointment. After spending 30 + minutes and speaking to 3 different people I was told that there was a tech issue and they could not organise an appointment. They could not forward my e-mail or my contact phone number for someone to ring me because they had no way of contacting my local branch. Very poor customer service indeed. We will almost certainly be moving banks.
I got an internship when I was a student at UCLA. I spent the last two years in the HSBC, where I got my first job. I am tremendously grateful for the experience – the incredible people I met, the unique opportunities I lived, and the life-long learnings I gained.
I've been with HSBC for 20 years. I often hear friends complain about their banks such as poor customer service. When I think back I really can't complain at all about HSBC. When travelling they will sometimes stop my cards but I understand why they have to to this. Hopefully they will get better in future with fraud checks and that is why I've knocked a star off. Other than that the customer service is great, when a card does get stopped I can usually get it working again instantly by calling them up. I often speak to people within the UK when I call them, which is appreciated. I've found them to be quite flexible and always willing to help whenever I've had an issue.
Just tried phoning HSBC (7.30 am) in respect of a missing credit for a large sum. After hearing warnings about issues relating to the effects of the virus on staff and ability to respond, then entering all the relevant details and my voice recognised a mechanical voice advised that the reduced hours of opening means lines are not open until 8 am. Why on earth isn't this important information given at the start of the call rather than several minutes later? Not sure if a coincidence, but shortly after posting this review I received advice of a message and on logging on was able to LIveChat with an agent. Pleased to receive confirmation that credit is "pending" and will show on correct date but still feel my comment about the delayed advice about opening times is valid.
The business banking team has always been 100% professional and happy to help any time. I fully recommend this bank if you're seeking to do business in HK.
Their online, in bank, and mobile setup is the worst I've seen and no where near what is expected of an international bank. Is a series of local under resourced bank branches and systems that either don't talk to each other or overkill in a badly setup way for security (e.g. 2-3 passwords to login and carry out a transaction or face id to login). 4-5 different passwords and 3-4 different ways to login. Also their menu system really sux. Avoid to keep your sanity.
This is a review on their business banking. Yes I understand that they have to do lots of due diligence since all the fines for money laundering. But they charge a few for an application and I tried 5 times to call back on the number to give the more information requested as per their request before giving up, kept speaking to someone who said the person I needed to speak to was on the phone and they would call me back. They never did call me back. Seems like they didn't want my business which is their call to make. But should have just said and not say they'd call me back 5 times and never did. Also maybe they could have a form to weed out if someone's business they are likely to say it's not big enough for them to want the business. Other banks in HK have not been this unprofessional. I have several accounts and products with HSBC and I'll be moving them as this experience of wasting my time has left bad aftertaste.
This is a bank that doesn't care about their customers. Their customer service is the worst of any bank I have ever experienced, ever. Every time they just follow some script they are told to follow, send some unrelated forms to fill and never, absolutely never help you to solve the problem you have. They just create anger, disappointment and frustration. I wouldn't recommend anyone to use this bank.
NEVER GET YOUR MONEY BACKAfter dealing with them about 6 months long with the unknown transaction issue, I still need to pay for someone’s bill because of how poor service this million dollars company provides. They always said “we tried everything to follow up the situation”, and yet, them never solved thing out with their “best performance”.I’m with this bank over 10 years, and now I’m done with their customer service, can’t take it anymore. Gonna leave this bank and try something else, good luck for those using hsbc banking.
I switched from a competitor bank to HSBC HK bank in good faith that, being an international bank, it has smooth and reliable processes put in place. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The bank chat support is pointless because they copy and paste what can be found on the main website. To cancel anything requires multiple approvals before someone decides. Even a simple cancellation process takes ages. There is no communication or updates from the bank via email, SMS, or any other means. Funds sent between internal accounts take almost a week or at least three to four working days. This is an appalling service that I have never experienced before. Every process has a magical two-week duration, which is not valid. Good, I kept my first bank account open, so I will use the HSBC only as a backup. I do not even want to become a premier account holder with this bank.
How come the BOE has increased the base rate which now stands at 1.25%..this has now been passed on to borrowers but saving accounts STILL remain in the 0...silly %!!!How much longer are the silver suited crooks going to get away with this revolting behavior..... I suppose when they have earned many more billions in bonuses to create their new super rich race... Disgusting... We need to chuck Parliament and the Banks together with Insurance Companies and the FOS.. SRA... Ect in the deep sea.... They are all disgusting parasites... WAKE UP YOU ENGLISH... YOUR BEING CONNED!!!
The in app customer chat support is 99.9% useless! They have zero knowledge about the issues being presented the only thing they know is to pass you to another hotlines. I can sense that they are very very lazy to solve the problem, I have an experience asking why im getting transaction error CSC_7200015 . Gave me wrong answer and wrong phone number to call.
My debit card associated to HSBC account was used fraudulently on Jan 13th, 2024. Thus, the card was blocked. New card replacement as HSBC Customer Service, assured will be sent in 5 working days. Yet its 2 weeks now (14 days), nothing in mailbox. Second case, since Nov 2023 unable to use HSBC mobile app in android phone. Earlier was working without problems. Reported the case Nov 2023, up to now, only phone calls instructing repeatedly uninstall and reinstall, which is unsuccessful. Basically they are customer service staff who does not have technical knowledge with my problem.Sigh! I have never seen such a slowest service and calling HSBC as a leading bank in HK? This is a genuine case which I'm experiencing.
Unprecedented bad service, poorest customer service attitude in person. Called to tried to order new security device and couldn't even get through. Wouldn't even allow transfer of funds. This bank practices borderlines on embezzling. Whilst no one keeps it in check. DO NOT engage in their services. Go elsewhere
Staff Counter Alice has an Excellent Service, Possitive attitude plus fast and reliable staff. Thank you Alice😊
They closed down our account, even though we've uploaded required documents plenty of times. There were no support with meeting their new policies in their branches, once we have realized that, their online platform is far from professional. This whole situation has costed us a lot of clients trust and our personal time. With all my respect to all hard working people in this company, I TOTALLY DO NOT RECOMMEND HSBC HK as a buisness bank (unless you are a platinium member, then you can call them anytime with any matter). Other banks in HK are much more buisness friendly than this one.
Worst bank in the world! I got locked out of my account about 4 years ago because my security device went bad. Then they block the account because of login attempts and then my efforts to get access again failed. Every month account is charged a service fee and I had no way of getting in. Wasn't able to file my taxes because of it and I swear 4 years constantly trying to get access and never succeeding. Last week they tell me to wire money into the account and they will send new pin to create new account because for some reason they just cant get my old one back. I send the wire and they close my account, LOL!!! It almost felt deliberate, what a joke of a company and why they still exist is beyond me, there are so few positive reviews anywhere about this bank.
One star is too much for this bank.0 stars is what they actually deserve. If there are some reasons why humanity should fail and disappear, then you can find all of them in HSBC Hong Kong. The customer service is inexistent. Not due by the people who works on the phone, but due to the directors, who have not been able to put in place a good workflow. Never open an account there!!!

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
