gs1us.org Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives gs1us.org one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 88.7. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 88.7 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to gs1us.org's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning gs1us.org, let's look closer at the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between gs1us.org and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of gs1us.org. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of gs1us.org, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. gs1us.org is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether gs1us.org has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether gs1us.org boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, gs1us.org.

This is the worst company to deal with. They say that they are the "leaders" in UPC codes because they started them? I spoke to an employee that had a baby crying in the background, so not sure where this company is located, but it is definitely not legit. I purchased 10 codes, of which I could not enter any information on in their website. When I called to cancel, (sent an email not even 24 hours later) they were not going to give me back my $157.50 plus tax! I cancelled within 48 hours (they don't work on the weekend). I feel that this company continues to scam people, especially new businesses, to PURCHASE yearly subscriptions to use when they are not neccessary. If you need UPC codes, you can buy them for only $10.00 at other companies, not $33.00 from these guys, that you can't even use. I suggest that all new businesses look elsewhere for your UPC and barcode needs. Do not get caught up in the web of deceit that this company is. Good luck to all.
Their codes worked for me a year ago, but this time none worked. I bought several and they won’t give a refund. Then I tried upcs.com and got 4 out of 5 “used” upc codes which of course didn’t work. Then I tried ez upc which I thought I’d get scammed and go figure those $2.00 UPC’s worked for my Amazon listings. But I’m still out several hundred with GS1. I’ll try disputing it.
absolutely horrible in every way possible - this is a disaster of an organization and makes it extremely challenging to do correctly. Totally illogical to use. No way to change or edit anything, even if you f up. You basically just waste your money with every click you take on this site. Completely garbage. I'm writing my congressman about this abhorrant and disgusting abuse of power that is GS1 and everything associated with it. PUH!
Expensive and always out to get your money. I signed up for this GS1 barcode situation because at the time, Amazon required it and refused to let you use any other barcodes. I don't know if this company has a monopoly on "authentic" barcodes or something but the expenses I have with GS1 is way too high for the small seller. After paying $200+ for the barcodes, there's a $50 annual fee to "keep" them. Ok, that was fine and I paid it. Towards renewal time, I received several emails stating that my services would be interrupted if I choose not to pay. So I chose not to pay thinking GS1 could cancel my services and save me the trouble of asking them. Instead, they tackled on a late fee and administration fee to my "invoice" and are threatening to add more fees constantly.I don't need this service anymore and their support page keeps showing an "access denied" error and won't let me speak to customer service to resolve this. I had to email them on their general email address.
Prior to purchasing, GS1 doesn't tell you that the barcode doesn't work unless you're using an eCommerce website like Amazon or Shopify. By referencing a HUb/Portal, it misrepresented the barcode. The purchaser is led to believe you're registering your brand online but you must go through eCommerce. The eCommerce websites were not helpful for my products and this purch
Made a mistake that I caught within 10 minutes. Called to get help making a correction and refund. No understanding or cooperation. Their call center happened to be in Dayton Ohio where I live. Face to face smiles and still no change. My only satisfaction is I will not use them to purchase my next 100 barcodes. Poor way to run a business.
Thanks for the worthless reply. YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBERS DO NOT WORK!!!!! NEITHER OF THEM!!!! Are you afraid to answer!!! I wasPROMISED A PHONE CALL FROM YOUR SUPERVISOR TODAY aug 11 2022 BY 10 pm. Their representative LIED she LIED!!!!. It takes chef plate 4-7 days to respond to their horrendous poor customer service complaints
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! AFTER PAYING FOR THE BARCODES FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS, THEY REFUSE TO TRANSFER THE BARCODES TO ANOTHER COMPANY THAT WE OWN. THIS IS PURE NONSENSE AND WILL FILE A BBB COMPLAINT, JUST LIKE PREVIOUS REVIEWERS. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE AND A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. STAY AWAY, THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS AND COMPANIES THAT SELL BARCODES FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST.
I call there Custumer Service Number at: 1-800-275-8777The lady was really passive/agressive.She was speaking calmly with this exasperated tone on her voice at every questions that I was asking!I'm a manufacturer and I know the jargon but she was acting like if I was not understanding anything.I understood later on that she was the one with too little knowledge to help me correctly so she was trying to transfer the pressure on me.Important the note that she was not a young individual. She sounds pretty retired for me.So I'm disappointed to deal with this kind of tantrum
Have taken a account with for 3 years & now i want to cancel the subscription & they are asking all the barcodes back .SEE the note below Once your account has been closed we will return all your assigned prefixes to us. As agreed when you became a GS1 UK member, it is important that you immediately stop using any of the GS1 identifiers and barcodes, since continuing to use them could lead to duplication problems for GS1 UK members.
It'd be easier to list what DOESN'T suck about GS1?Actually, I can't think of anything.Their business is usury. They sell very specific quantities of barcodes and if you grow, you're essentially starting from scratch, no way to expand under your existing company prefix.Additional users are a $500 subscription ... for how long???? The website NEVER says.Want to contact them? Do NOT waste your time looking on the "Help" page. Why are codes (which you have paid for the use of in your allotment) wasted and not retractable/deletable??? Oh, right so we HAVE to buy more "priceless" electronic digits that we have to pay for EVERY YEAR FOREVER.CRAP COMPANY, CRAP PRODUCT, CRAP SUPPORT, and on and on and on and on and on and onIf ANY other company figures out how to do global barcodes even competently, GS1 will see an incredible exodus!
Scam. Amazon makes sellers use this company, then the company charges $30 for a barcode and amazon wont accept it. Bought 200 barcodes and now they are telling me the barcode isnt in the database, even though they gave me the barcode. I even showed them the receipt and they are playing dumb. Profiteering at its finest
Bad company.....Terrible refund policy for small businesses.I used ONE GSIN number and discovered their products were unnecessary for Amazon. Too late. Too bad. Absolutely terrible customer service
Total rip-off, avoid UPC system altogether. This is not for small players. Big guys can buy hundreds of thousands for a fraction of the price - but once again, small business is left to hustle, hurry, and waste enormous amounts of time and money.
Never use gs1. extremely greedy people. this so-called company should be shutdown permanently. ripping off their customers and no cooperation or good service whatsoever.
If you buy a 10 pack of bar codes and then need more down the road, you're stuck paying two yearly subscription fees because there is no method for upgrading the number of bar codes that you license from GS1. This is complete BS.I was told to give up my 10 bar codes to move to a 100 or unlimited pack. The issue here is that Amazon, Walmart... won't let you change the bar code. So it is not possible to discontinue use to move to a larger subscription. This is not business friendly and I'm not at all happy with GS1 policies or support. It seems like this group is just in business to extort money. How could it cost $2500 a year (every year) to maintain a block of UPC codes.NonprofitLight shows revenue of $71M. Total expense of $55M. Net assets of $196M. So this non-profit standards organization profited $16M in 2021. The CEO makes $2.1M. CFO $786K, SVPs $696/$572. SVP Human Resorces $493K. Me think that this outfit is about pocketing lots of money for the execs. It's not really a non-profit in any sense!
Don't lose your money, they will sell you used barcodes as new that doesn't work . very nasty customer service will never help you. Be aware, I already filed complaint with the BBB..
We had a bad experience with this company. They continue sending invoices with threats of collection 2 years after we cancelled their services.
This company is hands down out of control. I called to request a refund within 3 days for a mistake I made and realizing I did not need the barcodes. I did not print them, use them or anything. When I called the rep said “ well if you read the terms of use before you paid it says no refunds” little did she know I did read and downloaded the pdf and it says up to their discretion, it didn’t say just plain NO. If it did I never would have bought the barcodes. It should have certain instances listed where the answer is NO REFUND! The lady said she wasn’t aware the wording had changed …. maybe she needs to read them again herself because it was last updated in November 2021 almost a year ago !!! When I talked to the supervisor he said they only give refunds if their website is having issues, why not just say that in the terms and stop being so difficult and save us all some time. This company is greedy, no help and over priced as it is. It’s a shame they get to keep my hard earned money for something I haven’t and will never use! Just read the reviews please before you buy, they don’t lie. I’ve seen many people say they filed complaints on BBB and I may just do the same!
Be aware!! I just filed a complaint with BBB on GS1 US.I am not sure if I will get my money back ($2500) but this is the email I got from them today. It sounded threatening to me.. Background: Our company purchased UPC from GS1 website on 03/31/20 for urgent use, our credit card was charged and received an invoice right away. However, no UPC nor instruction was emailed to me until 04/24/20 after I filed a dispute with my credit card company on 04/22. I tried to contact them through email and their website and calls (no one answers) during the first couple weeks. I explained to them what happened to me and hope they could improve their service to others on 04/24. This is the email that I received today on 04/27.Email from GS1 US:"Thank you for contacting GS1 US.I apologize you've this experience. Just as an FYI, a thought befor disputing, keep in mind many retailer and trading partners require your GTIN/UPC-A be issued by GS1. We do not offer refunds and I do not know how that will work with disputing to your credit card company. I just wanted to make sure you are aware if your account is Terminated or cancelled and it does turn out you do need have GS1 compliant barcodes you would be reapplying and paying the 2500.00 initial fee again. If this is not a concern or you don't have any other questions no other response is needed. Thank You,Shelby "

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
