“Excessive charges”

Used this broker for many years and feel very let down when I cancelled my policy today as we had sold the vehicle. £55! Apparently it should have been £75 but they were doing me a favour by only charging the £55! Not be using again that's for sure. Service Value Quality

“Sharp practice AVOID”

Tried to switch vehicle on car insurance, 9 months into policy, as had bought newer car. Was quoted a ridiculous amount to switch, so asked about cancelling, the £75 cancellation fee was more than the value left on policy, so told them to let it run until the end of current policy period. The Renewal Invitation letter doesn't say anything about automatic renewal. So knowing I didn't have the car and didn't want the policy they of course automatically renewed the policy and took the premium. I phoned to get my money back, they listened to the earlier phone call and they still have the cheek to charge me a risk fee instead of a full refund. Very sharp practice - AVOID.

“Toxic workplace!”

This place is the most rudest, two faced workplace ever. The managers and team leaders are so hypocritical & have one rule for there friends and one for others. I would work non stop answering call after call, with 50 calls waiting at times, my colleagues inc the team leaders all sat ofv queue on tere mobiles playing a game with each other on.the phone. However when i went off queur about 15 mins before my shift finished despite workin non stop all day, there were two team leaders who wld nastily call me.out in front of whole office & try and make me out to be lazy. Yet those two team leaders in question were the biggest p@## takers! The whole company was a joke. Weather a customer or a employee avoid this company. NOT GOOD! Service Value Quality

I USED A COMPARISON WEBSITE AND OBTAINED BUILDINGS AND CONTENTS INSURANCE. SHORT WHILE LATER RECEIVED A CALL FROM COMPANY TO VERIFY DETAILS. ENDED UP QUOTE INCREASED TO A LOT MORE! SO I CANCELLED. THEY CHARGED ME £24 CANCELLATION FEE! - APPARENTLY IT'S IN SMALL PRINT! FORGET MY LEGAL RIGHTS TO A COOLING OFF PERIOD! AVOID THIS BUNCH OF THEIVES AT ALL COSTS AND AVOID MONEY SUPERMARKET WHERE I UNFORTUNATELY CAME ACROSS THEM! PLEASE BEWARE! “AVOID. Worst company ever”

Terrible customer service. They'd take the last £5 off a pensioner if they got the chance. There's loads of fantastic insurance companies out there who bend over backwards to help you... sadly Grove and Dean are definitely not one of those.

The call staff in mg case I found very unhelpful. Not friendly to deal with and seemed very offhand. After cancelling mg policy less than 5 months in was informed no refund would be given with bare explanation as to why not etc. My advice, keep away there are companies more deserving out there.

Grove and dean cancelled my van insurance without informing me one week after setting it up. They accepted my first months payment then cancelled on the grounds that I had also searched for a quote on my old address and they saw this as possible fraud! Then tried to sell me a new policy at 3 times the price. Now my insurance is ridiculously high for the next 7 years due to their fraudulent cancellation! Utter scumbags avoid like the plague

No idea that we had insurance with this firm. Cancelled old insurance, must have been using a different name, as found better quote. They continued taking money so cancelled dd and emailed them about error. Now trying to take over £100 out of our account in the middle of the night? Absolute con artists. We have written a complaint, no response so bank have now blocked this company. We always cancel, not our fault the person did not who we spoke to, does this company have a cash flow problem?

“Grove and Dean Insurance - Second time shy”

Through circumstances (I seem to get myself into) I find myself stuck with Grove and Dean Insurance until next November 2016. I am counting the days! Due to purchasing a new scooter and having to insure it as well as my old one in a hurry (within a day to secure purchase of the new one) I was sort of forced through ease of extending my policy and swapping no claims around with Grove and Dean who I have been with since about June. My reviews regarding my experience then are well noted (900 views plus). Well it seems that things don't change quick in the world of Grove and Dean. A week on and I am still being hassled by phone, text and email for proof of driving licence (even though I was still insured with them) and proof of ID etc... I know that their game is to find a mistake and scam £50 from having to make a policy change. As before, twice shy, stay away for a harassment free life...

I never received any information about charges. I also never received any terms and conditions. Neither is available on their website or on the app. After 5 months I have sold the vehicle. I am being charged the full annual premium plus 75.00 cancellation fee, I found this firm through meerkat. I won't trust them again either. When ringing them, I was told on my original email there were the terms and conditions. Well I still have the email and none to be seen anywhere. I am complaining to the financial ombudsman. For every complaint, GROVE has to pay the FOS 750.00. So please please all of you must complain. It's free for you and you could get some money back. When looking to renew my home insurance Grove and Dean came up as cheapest and was more than several hundred pounds cheaper than my current provider. I then looked into what it covered expecting it to cover less when in fact it covered more. The service was quick and everything was confirmed within minutes. Would definitely use again.

One star because there is no 0 star option, stay away from this company they are a disgrace. Took out a policy with this company after a few day they wanted photographic evidence of our garage, the car in the garage the garage and our house together. We sent this photographic evidence straight away. Now a month later they sent a text and an email to say they are cancelling our policy because we had not sent them the aforementioned details. However we do have proof the the documents were sent and then they insisted on having some form of proof off the DVLA about the integrity of my driving license. I am 64 years old and had many different insurance companies cover me without this type of garbage before. I'm sure that after you pay for your policy they complicate things intentionally so then you cancel your policy through frustration and they get to keep your money with out having to provide a policy. I would give 0 stars if I could. Dont waste your money on these guys. They cancelled my insurance policy because I had not sent a picture of my vehicle in a garage, and then charged a cancellation fee. They never contacted me to tell me I had to send that picture, they told me they had emailed me about it but when asking what email address they had on file, they said they didnt have one! They legit lied to me. So ive been driving for god knows how long without insurance because these people cancelled it and didnt bother to tell me but charged me a massive cancellation fee! I was insured with Grove and Dean and on 7th June, bringing my father home from hospital, was stopped by police, who told me I was not insured and my van was impounded. Apparently they had cancelled my insurance, I pay monthly, but didn't tell me. Now I'm waiting for a prosecution from the police and insurance has rocketed Steer clear of this firm

“Highway robbers”

I had taken out a one year car policy, with more than one month left they sent me a renewal quote for more than what i thought was to high. I searched for another quote that was cheaper and also had more additions. More reminders were sent with two days to go before renewal date they sent another reminder which i replied to stating that i did not want to renew my policy. I then took out a policy with another company and got cover to start the day of the last day from my previous insurance and heard no more. When my bank statement arrived it stated that grove and dean had taken out the cost for another year four days before the expiry of the policy. As I could not get them on the phone as I was always in a que I sent an email requesting for a refund as I told them I did not want to renew. I kept requesting as I never got a reply. Eventually they responded and were taking deductions for cancelation and for the period of insuring my car, this I disagreed with them they also wanted proof who I was insured with which I sent but this was not enough thy wanted a copy of the insurance certificate I did send it but was not happy. I still have not heard back from them two days later. How can they take money before your existing policy is still active. Searching and reading the reviews I wished I had done this before taking out the policy. “Charged 98% of policy value to change motorcycle details”

Grove & Dean charged 98% of my current motorcycle insurance policy value to change over from a 1200cc motorcycle to another 1200cc motorcycle, same year, same make, same model, I sold my bike to a biker mate thinking buying a lower mileage bike and simply changing the details, I was hit with a 98% charge, this was to change the motorcycle registration number only!, sorry but this insurance company is ran by Author Daily's, so in effect they charged me for a new policy with the same end date as my old policy that had 5 months left to end, stay clear it must be ran by people who's aim is to wring you out of your cash, they are great Tory donators though Tip for consumers:Bikers/Riders please Stay clear of Grove & Dean and never be a special client as they7 will squeeze you till the pips squeak. I cancelled after a week. They're quick to take your money then keep £95 for admin and 'time of risk'. Avoid this company. I've complained to the Financial Ombudsman.

I selected and paid for a home insurance policy with Grove & Dean via a comparison site. Within a couple of minutes, a staff member called to go through the details. Concerning lodgers, I confirmed that I often have a lodger (as included in my details), but explained that at this precise moment in time, I am between lodgers. Because I currently don't have a lodger in situ, the price increased by around £200! Obviously, I opted not to proceed. This was in fact a different policy (this company is a broker, not an insurance company). For this, I was charged a £35 cancellation fee - for a product I had selected five minutes earlier, in good faith, until Grove & Dean moved the goal posts. I am disgusted and upset at this dishonest approach, fleecing customers at a difficult time when people are struggling during the pandemic. Another staff member then called me, and I requested that he register a note of my upset at this situation. This man barked at me, barely taking a breath, in a rude, condescending, aggressive, patronising and obnoxious manner. Shaken up by this aggressive encounter, I retreated. However, I am now warning friends, family and social media followers to avoid this horrible company, which misleads customers to take their money and employs obnoxious staff. As a freelance magazine journalist working on consumer/homes titles and newspaper supplements, I will also be looking out for opportunities to publicise the way this company treats people. “Totally taken in hook line and sinker by grove and dean motorcycle insurance crooks”

I found grove and dean insurance through compare the market I wish I had seen the bad reviews from other people that had the misfortune of ever looking to insure with grove and dean but I was took in by what I thought was a cheap deal I completed the on line application and paid the money in full for my insurance on 21-03-2023 for motorcycle insurance to start on 13-04-2023 on Friday 24-3-2023 after the money was taken from my bank I received an email from grove and Dean asking me to contact them about the mileage of the motorcycle and to use live chat to contact them which I did the first thing they said you had a claim for a windscreen for a car I said I am applying for motorcycle insurance not a car she said in 2020 you had a claim for the windscreen of the car this was by protected no claims bonus and isn't classed as a claim I needed the windscreen changed for the mot they then came back and said we don't believe you have a garage and wanted me to take a photo of the motorcycle in the garage which I have never heard of this before she obviously was looking to increase the premium then she said you can cancel if you want which I did then all the documentation disappeared luckily I took photos after that I received an email from grove and Dean saying I am being charged £55 for a policy that hadn't even started if I get one person to read this and then stop someone from applying any type of insurance from this scam company then it has been worth it Tip for consumers:Avoid grove and dean for insurance Products used:Other insurance company

“Terrible Company To Deal With”

Back in August, I took out a policy with Grove & Dean for car insurance. I thought all was well until I had numerous emails asking me to telephone them about my policy, which I tried to do many times but could never get through. I then had an email saying that policy would be cancelled on August 19th due to no payment. I telephoned yet again finally getting to speak to someone. They took details down to confirm who I was and I was told that my policy was cancelled. I then took out insurance through LV, at a higher price than Grove & Dean. End of the natter….or so I thought. December, I start getting emails from Grove & Dean saying that I owe them money and if I did not pay, then my car insurance would be cancelled?!? After telephoning them, they informed me that my policy was still "live" and had never been cancelled. I've now been told that if I don't pay within seven days, it goes to their debt collecting agency! Thank you for ruining me and my family's Christmas now with the worry of this over my head! I've been driving since 1986 with a clean licence and have never had had any issues with insurance until i unfortunately got involved with Grive & Dean! Avoid at all costs! They give me a price on line which you paid in full, then called asking loads of other questions trying to increase the premium when I explained why the vehicle was not being used as a commercial vehicle they then went on to something else and found an error on the application regarding purchase date, that was all they needed to put the policy up nearly another £100 I explained the reason and asked to speak to the manager who constantly talked over me, he said he would refund my money minus £55 (less than 12 hours on cover) the amount he said he would Only £536 for the policy when in fact it was over £630 knocking almost another additional £100 off so in total (£155 for 12 hours cover) I said that was wrong and after a further 2 times stating that was the figure I paid he can back and said he had made the mistake. At this point with no apology they terminated my policy without my consent and still charged me. Bearing in mind I had informed the caller I was driving to a family appointment the way they conducted the call was very unhelpful and now extremely stressed (whilst driving) and late for the appointment (which when I arrived I was informed the family member had been told it was terminal leukaemia) The company will happily take your and will do everything in the power to increase premiums when you don't accept it they will just cancel your policy and charge you.
