We came up with the 83.2 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to firsttutors.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning firsttutors.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between firsttutors.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of firsttutors.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of firsttutors.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. firsttutors.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether firsttutors.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether firsttutors.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, firsttutors.com.
Online Reviews of firsttutors.com

- Score: 4.8
First Tutors allowed false negative review on my tutor account which damaged reputation.Evidence was provided to show that the review was not a true review. When I became angry about it, they suspended my account.Any claims that I cannot be found on their systems is because they deleted my account. The experience was real and this is a genuine review. Reviews are manipulated to suit their company reputation and not a real reflection of their service. They challenged my TrustPilot review of them in response.Traffic from the site is incredibly low and disproportionate to the time and effort spent setting up a profile.
As a tutor I have found that First Tutors have helped me make contact with a regular supply of potential tutees. I really depend on them for my tutoring career.
I've been with First Tutors for a while now. The site is easy to navigate and use. I've found several students to work with and the process of contact, messaging and organising is great. it just works very well, especially for tutors, but also for parents and students. A great site.
First Tutors provides a very good service of selling details between potential tutees and tutors and then letting them get on with the work, unlike other tutoring agencies.
For all your tuition need, the First tutor is the website to visit. You got the choice of numerous highly proficient tutors with varying level of experience and fees for each subject. Don’t forget to read profile and feedback before choosing the right tutor for your son/daughter. Picking the right tutor makes the difference on how well your son/daughter would improve their exam results and understanding of the subject
Honestly brilliant. Professional and sleek. They don’t take advantage or bombard you with emails. Brilliant service!
When I first started taking tutoring seriously I used a number of agencies. However, I noticed that I was getting more students through First Tutors than any other company so I eventually stuck to them. Over the years I have come to appreciate many benefits of using First Tutors such as the reference system and the fact they check your qualifications and DBS. I feel safer booking students through First Tutors than anywhere else as it's monitored. The only thing tutors need to be aware of is that as you start getting good feedback the retrieval rate for new students can go up significantly. This can put some new students off. I think if you are a highly rated tutor you should not let this put you off however as you can also offer a free initial lesson which protects both you and the student. If I had one thing I would improve about First Tutors it would be that people should not be allowed to give feedback on their complimentary lesson. Sometimes you are just NOT a match for the student and you find this out in your complimentary lesson so you refuse the student. However, out of spite I have had 3 students give bad feedback after their free lesson/assessment. This doesn't afford the tutor any security as there are some demanding and even slightly crazy parents out there who I know from the outset I do not want to work with. My other criticism is that once your first references have been taken, you are not allowed to change those even after years of working with the company! This doesn't reflect your true working profile.
From a tutors perspective, I'd say it's certainly worth setting up a profile. It's free unless you want to pay to boost your visibility. I got a couple of students this way. I'm on a number of other sites and have found more students elsewhere, but First Tutors only charges for the connection/contact information, so does not take commission from each lesson payment, unlike Sherpa or PMT. From a student's perspective, you're saving money by not paying commission. There is no interview of tutors by the website, so it's purely a connection service. The student will need to evaluate for themselves the "quality" of the tutor.
I love First Tutors so much.If you are looking for a safe investment destination, then checkout asuleas dot com, they paid me over $90K today
A very reliable and trustworthy site, with a responsive and knowledgeable help team and good ITIt pairs genuine students and tutorAs a tutor, I've been using it for about 8 years now, and have had over a 150 students, practically all extremely successful, with excellent results

First Tutors keeps tutors safe, to teach in potential pupils' homes, as all potential pupils are registered with First Tutors. They guarantee that if you attend, you will be paid, even if the parent/pupil tries not to pay.Registration is not too time consuming, and emails to First Tutors receive prompt responses, should you have any queries.I would recommend First Tutors.
I am trying to find words that describe or explain how Mr Oliver is like or how he is professional in both sides academically and his personalty. He is friendly, kind and knows what he doing, my son and I very happy with his unique personality and the way how he turned disappointed child to a very confidence young man, my son told me he will fail on his gcse citizenship, after the tuition with Mr Oliver everything is changed. The words will never thanks him enough. I am glad we found
Excellent website to find a tutorOne time fee only and I have a former headteacher with a degree in English to tutor my children.Fully recommended.
First Tutors advised of some positive feedback received from the mother of a student I tutored recently. This was much appreciated; First Tutors have a good communication system in place and it's good to hear when you are doing well.
I have taken on students from First Tutors, offering to reimburse the contact fee. This has always worked well and gives the clients trust in the system.
Easy to use and advertise. Lots of query. From the tutor and from the student’s perspective, it is great to see a platform that operates a finders fee but then does not add a commission on every lesson forever. It allows tutors to keep their fees down and students to afford great qualified tutors.
I have been tutoring with First Tutors for the last 11 years and I received a lot of work from them. I am grateful that they only charge the introductory fee which the parent pays. By doing so, tutors could keep the cost of lessons affordable. The website is user-friendly and there are systems in place to prompt tutors to take action in terms of requesting feedback.
I’m a tutor on First Tutors and have had multiple students through the website. The process has always been very smooth and clear. I’ve always had good students and never had a bad experience. I’m really enjoying tutoring through this website and much prefer it to any other tutoring website!
I am quite happy with the number And quality of enquiries.I get through first tutors as I am a self-employed.Tutor and this is important to me. I find the website quite straightforward for parents to use in that They pay in introductory fee and then are then free with their dealings with the tutor., Giving each party great flexibility once the initial fee has been paid.

“Very solid website, doesn't rip off parents or tutors”
I've been a tutor on first tutors for several years now and prefer it to any other platform that I've worked with. The main reason for this is that they don't charge a percentage fee of lesson payments. On many other platforms, parents will pay £40/hr, the tutor receives £24/hr, and the platform pockets the rest. Over time, these fees really add up. First tutors offers a fair one-off cost for matching parents with tutors which ensures that they're getting their money's worth. Service Quality
“Unprofessional and money driven.”
Terrible customer service and unsatisfactory complaints process. Yoiu cannot speak to any chosen tutor unless you pay the fees first. You cannot pay the fees unless you book the tutor and you cannot speak with the tutor beforehand to discuss your requirements, so you have no idear of the suitability. It is shocking that this company s allowed to continue with their bad practices and unprofessionalism. They just want your money. Stay away.
“Tutor not as advertised, refused refund of finder's fee.”
Found physics tutor via this website clearly advertised as offering GCSE physics. Paid £24.99 finders fee. After several lessons tutor told us he did not cover GCSE curriculum, only Nat 5 level which is a different syllabus and exam. I therefore contacted First Tutors for a refund as this is false advertising and in breech of consumer protection rights. They refused to give me my money back. Dishonest and unscrupulous treatment, and this tutor is STILL being advertised as offering GCSE on their website. I was told to leave a review on their website to get my money back so I did, which they then turned against me because I had said he was a great tutor but NOT as advertised, as I did not want to be rude about the person.
“Fantastic platform”
As a tutor, I've found this website invaluable to source clients. It's user friendly and stops time wasters as there is an introduction fee - I've had many of my students now for years and they have been very satisfied with the service provided. Service Quality
“Awesome platform and amazing experience as a tutor”
I am connected with the First Tutor last from almost 5 years. I am a working engineer but teaching is my hobby. Earlier I was helping my friends from university to solve their electronics and maths problems. But I was always thinking about how I can increase my reach so I can help more and more. Then I found First Tutor, registration was well maintained and proper background checks are done from various authority to only allowed genuine and qualified tutors. Already teach more than 52 students so far and having 5-star rating on the profile page. Teaching is a skill and First Tutor is providing equal opportunity to all tutors and a very good search engine to the tutee. Tip for consumers:Teaching platform Products used:Online service
“Bad tutors awful customer service”
I wanted to get additional support for my sons A levels. Local tutor I found was completely incompetent. First tutors charged me £25 for introduction services which was an absolute waste of money as one session costed £60 in total with an immature incompetent tutor. They asked me to find another tutor and said they will provide details free of charge but I only have 5 tutors in the area and non are any better. Just a scale for vulnerable parents and students. Please don't use this site ideally go through school or local recommendations
“Improvement with Their overall service in last eight months.”
There has been a significant improvemen since my early review of this company and I am pleased to say they respond much more efficiently to both the tutor and the client. I am happy to recommend them as a place for musicians and potential tutees.
“Excellent Tutor”
We have been using Nel Ridgeway as an A level Biology tutor for our son. We have found her very knowledgeable and very approachable. She is very calm, methodical and able to put across complicated topics in a simple and understandable manner. We strongly recommend her. Service Value Quality
“Absolutely awful website, demand finders fee”
Absolutely awful website, much better webites out there where you can meet the tutor online before agreeing to use them as a tutor. They demand a finders fee when you have not made a decision on your tutor and block communication with them if you do not pay. Total waste of time. Stay clear of these guys. Tip for consumers:stay clear Products used:I didn't purchase anything even though I was forced Service Quality
“Excellent site, easy to use, cheap”
As a tutor for many years this site is easy to use and cheap. Unlike other sites which often take a large hourly cut, this one just charges a one off fee to clients. This can end up cheaper to them too as the hourly cut isn't factored in to prices. Honest, reliable and professional website service. Tip for consumers:Better than others! Products used:Advertising tuition Service Quality
“Weak, slow ineffective, spirit crushing”
Raised a complaint which they didn't even respond to. Pitiful customer service How can they sleep at night? Owed refund and not even responded for over two months Tip for consumers:Avoid. Avoid. Avoid Products used:none Service Quality
“The best site for matching tutors and tutees bar none!”
There seems to be a disproportionate amount of negative reviews on sitejabber for FirstTutors. After reading through a few of them, I'm not sure if they are even for the correct site. One mentions the inability to find if a tutor is suitable without paying the introductory fee. This is absolutely ridiculous and this person must have a cognitive deficit. You are free to chat with the prospective tutors as much as you like without paying any fee. You can't exchange contact details for obvious reasons though. FirstTutors makes its money from the finders fee. It then does not charge commission or a recurring fee which is how every tutoring site should operate. I've been using the site as a tutor for several years and it genuinely is a bastion in a sea of money grabbing tutoring sites that inject themselves between tutor and tutee and charge for the privilege! I hope that FirstTutors continues to operate in this way for many years to come!
“Postive group”
This is a great site to get a qualified vetted tutor. One of the best. Feedback on the site shows the outstanding job this site does and provides. I recommend it Products used:Tutor services Service Quality
“Verified tutor on First Tutors Canada - Majority of the negative reviews here are without merit”
I am a verified tutor on First Tutors and have close to 20 Five star rated reviews on First Tutors Canada. I have gone through the reviews on this site and it doesn't make sense to me. A lot of the reviews have obvious bias and prejudice against First Tutors and I am unsure if they are verified. 1. First Tutor is a legitimate business. Its not a scam. You approach a tutor like me through First Tutors. I generally respond and ask clarifying questions. The client is also feel to ask as many questions as they want to be part of the tutoring agreement. Only when both parties are fully satisfied, should the client buy the tutors details. 2. First Tutors is a business like any other legitimate business. So yes, you are able to connect with your tutor in person or over the phone only after you pay a initiation fee. I don't understand why or how this is a scam. 3. Unlike most other website, First Tutors enable their tutors to decide on their individual fees. First Tutors does not keep a hefty commission per session unlike most other tutoring platforms wherein the tutor gets payed 20% of the hourly fee and the platform keeps the rest. You always end up with demotivated tutors with sub par knowledge level in a situation like that. First Tutors has a one time fee only. If you cannot afford or do not want to afford a certain fee level, please feel free to find a tutor who offers a lower rate. Skill, knowledge and experience comes at a premium so yes, there are different level of tutors available within the same geographical area. 4. There can be a few disappointing experience with independent tutors. But that is not due to First Tutors. Its the individual tutor in question. The client is free to choose another tutor and can terminate any tutoring partnership at will and without reason. The payment schedule with client has nothing to do with First Tutors. It is an independent agreement that should be honoured by both the client and the tutor. 5. First Tutor verifies their tutors through reference check ( as they did with me). I am a professional tutor who has worked with them for over 5 years now. I have a Bachelors degree and two Masters degree in relevant STEM fields. I will not call myself underqualified. The tutors credentials are available for the clients to see and YES they are verified by First Tutors. Its a weird world we leave in where truth is available at a premium. I will urge potential clients to do you own independent reviews and do not blindly fall for the negative reviews on this site. When contacting a First Tutor tutor, make sure you are asking as many questions as you can to understand what you want to get out of the relationship. Summary: 1. No, Fist Tutors is NOT A SCAM. Its a legitimate business. 2. YES, you do have to pay an initiation fee to First Tutors to get the tutor contact details. Its a business, not a charity. But, its the ONLY one time fee you pay with First Tutors. Any subsequent session fee is between you and the tutor. 4. I have successfully tutored over 50 students through FIRST Tutors Canada who are now successfully established in their professional lives. So, YES, it does work. 5. Lastly, please be prepared to invest in your child. Tutoring is not free and just like any other skill, it takes time and effort to hone the teaching experience. Do not expect to drive a Mercedes if Honda Civic is all you WANT to afford. No Offence. Knowledge and skill comes at a price. If you are unwilling to pay that, please do not take it out on the First Tutors platform. 6. NO, First Tutors did not pay me to write my views on this website about their business. Tip for consumers:Make sure you are clear about the tutoring agreement before you accept and pay the initiation fee. First Tutors does not prevent the client from asking as many questions as they want before the tutoring partnership is formalized. Ask as many clarifying questions to ensure that your tutor is fit to cater to your needs. Products used:Service for getting tutoring client request Service Quality
“Easy to use, does what it says”
Couldn't fault the service. Searched for a tutor, spoke with the one I liked the most, paid to receive their contact details. Customer service answered my questions promptly.
“I found this a very user-friendly site”
I found this a very user-friendly site. Having chosen 2 possible tutors I was able to ask them further questions before selecting one. The tutor I have chosen came for a free chat and showed proof of his qualifications and CRB check. We organised a suitable time and he turned up promptly the next day. He really seems to understand what my son needs and gets on very well with him. He has a really patient, calm approach. I am so glad I used this website and would recommend it to anyone looking for a tutor.
“Easy website to navigate, I just entered my postcode...”
Easy website to navigate, I just entered my postcode and subject and found a whole list of tutors that I could contact for free. After discussing my needs with all the tutors I chose one who lived quite close to me. I paid a intro fee for his contact details which I thought was very reasonable. I also received a good response from the customer service team when I asked them about leaving feedback on the tutor's profile. I was very happy with my tutor and would recommend First Tutors to everyone.
“FAKE TUTORS”
I am a professor and having tested the academic knowledge of 15 tutors at this organisation I was shocked and warn all hard working parents to not waste your money!
“Unfair to tutors”
As a tutor First Tutors has become increasingly unfair to tutors. The only way a parent can see you is by typing the exact price you are charging, which is basically cutting you off from being seen by hundreds of potential clients. As an online tutor you do not stand a chance to be seen.
“I have used First Tutors several times and find the...”
I have used First Tutors several times and find the service to be excellent. It's quick and easy to find a tutor near to home and if you do have a problem with a tutor they will offer another one free of charge as long as you leave feedback regarding the tutor that let you down. I would definitely recommend this service.
“LIES, UNETHICAL, NOT KIND, Money grabber only”
This website says We have spoken with M and our understanding is that he is unable to teach because the request was for XX, but it has become apparent that the request should have been for improving skills of academic English as a foreign language - a subject that Matthew does not teach. My tutor says I can see that I was incorrect to state that you hired me on the the basis that I would teach you XX. I apologise. I'm looking back over our original messages: you approached on the basis that I would teach you English, then stated that it was reading comprehension. I understand now that for you this meant you wanted teaching about reading. I think I misinterpreted this as you saying you wouldn't help understanding the specific texts you were studying, i. E. that I would help you understand XX. I think this is a case of misunderstanding. I believe you should get a refund. I have emailed this website but they are VERY UNETHICAL and don't help. I paid for different tutors for different learning purposes but now they are messing up all my payments. This tutor cannot help me but now the website refuses to either provide replacement or refund my fee.
“Trying to work around negative reviews..”
My partner (a tutor) just told me that this plea for positive feedback was sent to all their tutors by the company. I'm very uncomfortable that this sort of thing should be happening: shame on you First Tutors. Better to try to listen more carefully to your customers and address the issues that have been flagged by them.________ Dear ##tutor_name##, It has recently come to our attention that an external review site Site Jabber, is displaying some concerning reviews in relation to the First Tutors business. Our understanding is that this website does not have any form of verification process to ensure reviews are genuine and we believe the majority of these ratings are not in relation to an actual buying or customer service experience with the First Tutors platform. If you have had a positive experience with First Tutors, we would greatly appreciate your feedback on Site Jabber. This should help give our customers and your potential leads a true reflection of how First Tutors operates. You can leave a review by clicking the link below: https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/firsttutors.com Many thanks for your support of First Tutors Kind regards, First Tutors Tip for consumers:Unhelpful company
“I have only used this to find a tutor for one child”
I have only used this to find a tutor for one child - so far - but will use it again. It is a straight forward service that they offer. They have the details of tutors available to view, you select those you think might fit your needs and they forward the message you want to send. Any reply back from the tutor comes back via first tutors as up to this point you have paid no fee. If from this initial exchange with the tutor, or tutors, if you think there is a chance the tutor will meet your needs you 'buy' their direct contact details and from then on it's up to you. As the tutor I selected was relatively inexpensive per hour the fee I paid was also relatively low ie £10 to 'get this introduction'. I think this is a great service. First tutors gave the service exactly as they said they would - they are an 'introduction' service - as I dare say, as with all such services, some will work out better than others. I have been delighted with the young man it put me in touch with who is doing a great job with my 16 year old son who is grappling with physics higher. Frankly 2 coffee's can cost £10! This has so far proved a small investment for a great result
“Avoid at all cost!”
65 pounds for nothing! I purchased special offer 25 pounds, tutor arrived and requested another 40! Inc 5 for travel! Disgusting did not learn anything! Avoid!
“The other day I found my son a local maths tutor through...”
The other day I found my son a local maths tutor through First Tutors (an online tutor matching service). I had no idea that there was so much choice in this area of the market! Schools should really inform parents of this kind of thing! Like the comment below I also registered with several other sites too (tutors4me, UK Tutors and Tutor Hunt) but they had no really suitable tutors and no reliable feedback from real people to reassure me. Additionally there didn't seem to be any form of responsive customer support for the others (or even a company number / registered address for UK Tutors - be very careful here as they take payment), while First Tutors dealt with my (admittedly easy) question very quickly. Everything on the First Tutors site was quick and polished, I ran a search, contacted 4 tutors, and within the day had found a suitable tutor and bought his details! Everything is going well and my son is enjoying his tuition (only had 2 lessons so far) and we are satisfied with his progress. First Tutors is not free for parents, but the price scales depending on the price of your tutor (£4.99-£19.99, £14.99 for me) to keep it affordable for all, but it wasn't really clear how this was calculated (or at least I couldn't find it). If you are looking for a private tutor anywhere in the UK this is the site to use!

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
Our staff verifies that this service works and is trustworthy. For robust, essential protection, their Standard plan is a steal at just $8.29 for individuals, and you can extend that crucial peace of mind to your entire household with the Family plan (up to 5 users) for only $16.49. They also introduced the Unlimited plan starting from $14.99 that covers not only automatic data removals, but also unlimited custom removals available right away upon purchasing the Unlimited plan. It allows users to submit websites not yet covered by Incogni and get their data removed from there, too. It automatically blocks 100x more harmful websites than competitors and 10x more malicious downloads than any other security tool. It was tested and vetted by our Scam Detector team.
Guardio has over a million users, and while it is already affordable for the benefits it provides (just a few dollars a month), it covers up to 5 family members. For Scam Detector readers exclusively, Guardio offers a 20% discount this week. You can protect your online browsing from installing malware forever by clicking the button below:
How To Stop Third Parties From Tracking Your Devices
The second most powerful fraud prevention tool you should consider is Surfshark. Here is why you should get it now, as the first 5 months are free:
- They have an award-winning VPN service, protecting your privacy and preventing third parties from tracking your device.
- They will notify you when your personal info is leaked online so you can delete your private data from the Internet immediately.
- Surfshark has a super powerful antivirus program. It offers you effective protection from viruses and zero-day threats, a lightweight, clean, and easy-to-use app, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Check this: They hide your online searches, which means you will get only organic search results without tracking and follow-up ads. For example, when you search for a flight, and the next time you look at the same search, the prices are higher. With Surfshark, this doesn't happen.
For the Black Friday promotion, Surfshark offers 86% off + up to 5 months free to Scam Detector readers. You can get the deal only this week HERE or by clicking the button below.
