digikey.com Review

The Scam Detector website Validator gives digikey.com the absolute highest trust score on the platform: 100. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Safe. Secure. . We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same issues. So, why this very high score? We came up with the 100 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to digikey.com's industry. The algorithm detected no high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Safe. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we label this website as secure and trustworthy. We explain this in more detail below.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning digikey.com, let's dive deeper into the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between digikey.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of digikey.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of digikey.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. digikey.com is a secure website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether digikey.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether digikey.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, digikey.com.

“Great experience with Digi-Key”

"I ordered my parts from Digi-Key in the USA on July 28. They arrived at my house in Australia on August 3 - that's one week to travel to the other side of the planet. The order was perfect and everything arrived very well packaged in recycled, environmentally friendly packaging. Their communication was excellent and I had no problems navigating their website, and their price was much lower than any local vendor even after shipping. I have no qualms at all about recommending their service."

“Worse experience”

First you pass the order, no problem to pay with a credit card, then they ask you to pay by bank transfer! No reason given! Then they asked some questions for their "compliance" but answer did not exist... "what is the name if the end user?" the end user has no name yet, they are starting! Then they cancel your order, ok then refund us asap, they take days to send the form, because we have to contact them directly! Then they dont know when they will refund! Terrible experience! Avoid this company!

“Best selection, great web-site.”

I've been dealing with Digi-Key for over 20 years now. Their engineering support is excellent, and they are the go-to for me. I'm a component engineer for a U.S. based automation manufacturer, and will continue to use them every day! Tip for consumers:The parametric search capability is the best in the industry. If you're looking for any sorts of electronic parts, this is the place! Products used:I have purchased semiconductors, passives, connectors, wire, tools, chemicals, and anything else that is used in electronics. Service Value Shipping Quality

“They invoice you for parts they send by mistake.”

I ordered a handful of passive components (resistors, capacitors, etc) and most of my order arrived. But there were also 92 pcs of an IC that I did not order. I called to find out if they wanted those back (they looked expensive) and they did... and about 3 days later my accounts payable department received an INVOICE for hundreds of dollars for those items. The items I never ordered. That they only knew about because I was nice enough (dumb enough) to call and say, "Hey - do you want these back?" The fun thing is that they can send your accts payable department an invoice in just 3 days but it will take them 2-3 weeks to process the return when you ship the things back with their label. They don't even have the decency to put 30 day or 60 day terms on the invoice, its "pay upon receipt" and I bet a lot of times, it does get paid. Consider using Mouser instead. They're my new go to, their website is easier to navigate and they seem like they might even be run by people with a soul.

“Never buy from digikey if you are buying single piece”

They manipulate you and are not clear on actual amount you need to pay for your product. I bought a board, firstly it didn't reach in time, second, it was imported but on the site it was written that it is available in the country, so i paid custom duty also, Board cost 42 $ after delivery charge, after custom duty it reached to 90 $, i would have looked for another MCU(board), had i known that its total cost 90 $. Completely disappointed, better look for other sellers

“Canceled my order because I moved”

Digi-Key will have you waiting weeks for parts to arrive only to find that they canceled your order because they have a past order on file at a different address, and they wanted you to tell them what your old address was. (I've lived at 3 different addresses since I placed my order over 5 years ago. I have no idea which one they were asking about...) Products used:NA

“Disappointing Customer Service”

I Purchased a box of wiring and had realized the gauge of the wiring was wrong so I called them back within 23 minutes of my order and they stated they could not help me in any way and didn't even offer to change the order. 23 minutes…ridiculous. I will make sure I avoid Digi-Key in the future. Service Value Returns

“Won't use again”

I don't understand their shipping practice. I ordered something paid for FedEx and also have a so-called tariff fee was not. So it doesn't pay to buy from them unless you're going to buy more than 10 items I won't use them again I suggest if you're gonna buy one off items don't use them they're shipping. Practice is absolutely terrible. Products used:Tools and a tool pouch, or a tool bag Service Value Shipping Quality

“Poor management”

Told you that you weren't people smart...bring in temps and pay them more than your actual employees and don't expect anything bad to happen? Unions can't even stop scabs and employees from fighting how is a place with no security going to keep people safe but over react to a virus

“Trying to buy from them feels like a scam”

Why offer to accept paypal for payment only to ask for me to wire transfer them money then threaten to cancel the order If I don't agree to that? Who does that in 2023? Red flags throughout the whole process, never want to go near them again. Service Shipping

“Worlds best selection + Worlds worse customer service”

I buy over $5k of parts from them every year. Their customer service reps have no idea what they are doing and they seem to hate their jobs and their customers. If you have a defective product from a supplier or ask them to follow up on an issue don't expect that they will follow up without constant reminders. Tip for consumers:ask them to match prices with Mouser and Onlinecomponents, and sometimes they will. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Anything but Customer Driven”

Submited an online order for a small product. Within 30 minutes, I tried contacting Digikey to cancel the order. Received an immediate reply from the agent that order was in warehouse and could only be returned at my expense with an RMA. Left a voice message with the customer manager, which was never returned. Tip for consumers:Submited an online order for a small product. Within 30 minutes, I tried contacting Digikey to cancel the order. “Racism in the guise of random selection of customers for additional ID information”

I'm a researcher and was looking for some evaluation board /kits. I happened to order some from Digilent, Mouser, and digikey using the same credit cards. The transactions went through with digilent(about$300) and mouser( about$50). Digikey credit card department declined the transaction and asked for a copy of driving ID or personal check cancelled copy before they could approve a transaction for about $32. They acknowledged it's not from the credit card company, it's from their random selection of the customers to demand for additional paperwork. The credit card department representative was quite arrogant. I could afford to pay double or triple the price than that from digikey, but would never like to expose myself to this low level service / attitude / demands. I would never do or recommend doing business with digikey. Dr Ash Tip for consumers:I would never like to provide copies of my driving ID or personal check to put myself at risk. Products used:STM evaluation board Service

“No customer service in UK”

Really poor customer service - my order went missing between DK and UPS - DK said i must track it via UPS - i say no thats your job i have not contracted with UPS you have - then after another 5 days wait i ask DK to cancel the order as it is lost - they dont reply to the email requests - they are a bad company with no customer service - use Mouser or another parts supplier. Tip for consumers:dont buy from digikey - terrible customer service Products used:I did nit use - never arrived / delivered Service Value Shipping Returns

“Scammers”

Beware will ask for wire transfer and copy of your ID to place an order even though they accept applepay or PayPal that are secure. Get ready to have your identity stolen. Tip for consumers:Buyer beware scammers likely Products used:None I canceled my order after they ask for to much extra personal information reordered via Amazon. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN”

This company just cannot get it together from botched orders to non existent no solution just excuses and they call that customer service 3 strikes and you are out works in baseball and maybe i should have got the hint that they DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN TAKING YOUR MONEY AND MAYBE WE WILL PROVIDE WHAT YOU PAID FOR SO LONG DIGIKEY MOUSER AND ARROW ARE FAR BETTER they will be my suppliers from here Tip for consumers:use Arrow or Mouser much more reliable Products used:SMD assorted IC resistors Capacitors Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“They want to collect fee for my purchasing. Reason is: somebody else own then $25”

I purchase components from Digi-Key for 10+ years, even I worked for various companies. They used to be OK for delivery until today. They suddenly told me that I have to pay $25 fee to receive what I ordered because somebody in the company that I worked with own them $25.00 GAB letter service collection fee. Note, it is not me, somebody else! I joined my current company in 10 month and that person left before I came. How shall I pay fee for somebody that I do not know. But anyway, they just do not want to release what I ordered before I pay $25 for somebody that I do not know. I would suggest that we should not be loyalty to any company and we should buy from different sellers since they will not care you after they become bigger.

“First and last purchase from Digi-Key”

I recently placed my first order on Digit-Key for some IC components. The total cost for the components are USD$14.38 (as testing samples), during the check-out process, there are options for shipping using express courier such as UPS, etc. for US$30.00, I thought it was expensive compare to my purchase amount, so I opts for longer delivery time option for postal service, and for this option, there is no price provide, and will be 'quote' by Digi-Key later. It turns out that the postal service costs me more than $75 for the shipment, the worst part is that there is no way I could reverse back to UPS service (which turn out to be cheaper), because I only get the invoice and charges after Digit-Key has shipped the order. This is by far the most expensive online purchase on shipping charge. I don't know how Digit-Key can compete in today's world of e-commerce. I learnt my lesson, this is my first and the last purchase from Digit-Key!

“Excellent”

I ordered two pieces from this company. I received two pieces from this company very quickly. Both pieces are exactly what I ordered. My TV is now working! Thank you guys! Value Shipping Quality

“After a bad experience with buying Ni-MH phone batteries...”

After a bad experience with buying Ni-MH phone batteries from Premiumstore.com I found Digikey.com. I still needed 2 batteries for a third phone and went looking for a better price for a pair, but later on in the day. This company didn't appear on the list of sites when I found Premiumstore but I guess it depends on what you put in the browser. They also advertised "Panasonic" batteries and that's what I got. They were $3.15 each + shipping! I wish I had found them first! You also got a choice of how you wanted them shipped. USPS was only $2.22 and they arrived in 2 or 3 days.

“I loved services of Mango Semiconductors india pvt ltd and now they are online with better pricing”

I loved services of Mango Semiconductors india pvt ltd and now they are online with better pricing and i hope you will also love this

“Just the worst...”

A special BIG THANKS to sitejabber for flushing the essay I wrote here the first time... real class guys! Be sure to save your writing... if you have to long in again... your review is TURD CITY... Seriously... if you LOG IN... ok... Here's the best way to shop with digikey... GOOGLE the part you want, and then check the part very, very well... because their parts will show up in the search no matter even if they a completely different class of part... and then check it again... and then before you pay... you will NEVER find it using their interface... unless you have days to spare. And THEN be prepared, because even though you clicked on that part, and you could swear that part was the only one you looked at... there will be a different part that arrives... close enough for plausible deniability... but of no use to you. This happened once, I thought OK... maybe it was my fault. Twice... I thought HOW?! Now the third time, and I feel like an idiot for using them. I needed a 5 MHZ crystal... a 4 MHZ shows up... but when I ordered it, there was nothing else on the page! And the algorithm suggests a substitution... they should just remove that... don't suggest anything... because I got not only the wrong pinouts... but the entire wrong class of IC... I'm used to sites that actually are made with some degree of accuracy and intuitive interfaces that don't overwhelm... if you're on a page with the piece you want and it's not there... then SAVE those parameters you know are there in that product and automatically apply it to the next search... instead of putting you at square one. Some people don't know the codes for sizes, pins, composition, surface mount... and you don't make it easy now, do you?... they just know the part # they needed... now you're making them look up stuff they didn't need to if you had the part they needed... so meet them in the middle, so you don't have to check 100 boxes on the most ungodly difficult form that seems to just get more and more twisted as you use it, until your search for a capacitor has you inextricably stuck in a bulk purchase of conduit! And after you do all that... still get the wrong item! No more... done... DONE... Tip for consumers:I would say, talk to a person that can help you, but don't expect them to be accountable... I did that once... so I don't know... I don't know what will make it work for you... nothing worked for me ever. Not once. Products used:Haven't gotten the parts yet... have to order from another vendor... the shipping was very fast... and it wasn't a bad deal... I just can't believe that I've gotten the wrong parts every time. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Products Acceptable, Customer Service and Functionality Horrific”

I work with a company that orders thousands of dollars worth of products from Digikey. For the most part we do not have a problem, but if there is a problem it is almost guaranteed that not only will Digikey NOT fix the issue, they will in fact find a way to make it worse. This isn't the fault of the employees, and most customer service representatives are very kind, but the system they use is a nightmare. They have deleted accounts without permission which erased years of records that we need and we have not gotten any assistance in retrieving those records. The registration system they use is a nightmare and will make duplicate accounts, and yet somehow none of the existing accounts mean that you are a "registered" user? Connecting accounts to a business is a horrible process that only works half the time whether you email or call in. Their system glitched so our payment account is no longer available for use on the website (even though it is still valid and usable according to them) and they acknowledge there is an issue and have said it just might never work again. When asked if we should cancel that payment account and start a new one we were told we would not be allowed to. Returns are more complicated than necessary and if you have the misfortune of having to speak to a representative of that department it is likely they will be unhelpful and rude (at least in my experience). When emailing about a problem, no matter how much detail and explanation you provide they will always send an email back that clearly shows they did not read your email and therefore did not understand the issue, so a problem that could've been a quick fix will turn into a weeks long discussion via email. We asked at one point for a sales rep to be assigned to us so we had a point of contact and they said they offered that but didn't want to for us. I'm not even sure what that means. Overall, price is pretty good, and speed of shipping usually is great, but the company structure and the way it interacts with users is abysmal. Tip for consumers:Be prepared for a horrible time if there are any issues. Products used:A wide variety of electrical components and tools Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Digi-Key is a bad company, racial discrimination, humiliation.”

I made an order for Digi-Key. But I was canceled my order, the following was written in my invoice --- 19-JUN-2019 17:01 A7N4 TC MGR DECIDED IT WAS IN DIGI KEYS BEST INTERSET TO CACNEL ORDER AND NO LONGER TAKE ORDERS FROM THIS CUSTOMER I wrote to those in support of me rudely answered, very poor communication, I was not informed of the reason for the cancellation. Very bad company, I do not recommend it to you. Odie should be bankrupt. I recommend buying at ARROW

“Waist your time for nothing”

The most simple orders take weeks to process. They cancel orders without notifying you. Absolutely terrible! Extremely terrible to deal with.

Top 5 Effective Ways To Spot a Scam Website

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a

fraudulent website in 2024:

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.

  1. They have an award-winning VPN service, protecting your privacy and preventing third parties from tracking your device.
