The Scam Detector website Validator gives deedpoll.org.uk a low trust score on the platform: 19.5. It signals that the business could be defined by the following tags: New. Suspicious. Dubious.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same issues. So, why this low score? We came up with the 19.5 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to deedpoll.org.uk's industry. The algorithm detected high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors noted in the New. Suspicious. Dubious. tags above. Long story short, we recommend staying away from this website. But let's explain in more detail.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning deedpoll.org.uk, let's dive deeper into the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between deedpoll.org.uk and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of deedpoll.org.uk. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of deedpoll.org.uk, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. deedpoll.org.uk is a suspicious website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether deedpoll.org.uk has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether deedpoll.org.uk boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

This is not an official service of any kind. You can write a deed poll on the back of a napkin and it's still valid. Basically, they rely on people who don't know this thinking they need to apply for a deed poll so they can charge you £50+ for a document that didn't need appyling for in the first place.
Absolutely disgusting serviceI applied for 2 change of names last year and have come to apply to renew passports this year with the name change. I have faced an issue with the passport service so have contacted this company for help as it states they can help in their email confirming all details. I spoke to an extremely unpleasant unprofessional agent called VERITY. During the call someone walked into the office and she acknowledged them loudly whilst on the phone to me - this was the post person. VERITY continued to speak over me and the aided her voice throughout the call at times huffing loudly. When I asked for her superiors details she asked ‘why’, after asking numerous times I got the name Toby but she didn’t know when Toby would be in the office. Absolute shambles of a company with extremely unprofessional customer service
It’s a scam. They have no official prices and make up their prices as they go. They have no understanding of anything legal and they are SO rude. Disgusting company scamming and taking advantage of others. Save yourself the hassle, just go through the official Gov website. It’s so much better!!
Beware of hidden costs and lack of transparency with this company. They charge you without any breakdown or invoice, and it was simply a surprise on my bank statement.I requested a refund for the documents that never arrived. Their customer service (Toby) was horrible. Once I requested refund for undelivered deed poll her response was that they didn't get anything returned by Royal Mail. She simply came up with a response about the number of customers they have snd etc (as another reviewer mentioned) instead of addressing the issue of refund.More people should share their experience and review of this company so that people don't lose money like I did.
Not necessarily a scam but their documents have no legal standing. The prices on their website are not clear either, they tried to charge me £50 3 days after I made the application, at 4pm, obviously trying to catch me off guard. Luckily I didn't have the funds in my bank account. They then phoned me so I asked them to cancel my application. If you need deed poll services use the gov.uk website, it's the only one with legal standing.
I've used this company before, with no issues. But when I tried to change my sons name, as a single father, they weren't interested and are VERY anti-father. Must be run by a scorn single mother. I am absolutely not surprised in the slightest at the all the negative feedback. However, I found a free service and it turns out, these lot have just been charging silly money for two minutes work on some fancy paper.Just avoid them
All I inquired about was whether a refund was allowed IF PASSPORT OFFICE DOES NOT ACCEPT DEED POLL (which can happen) REBECCA who emailed me back refused to answer the question TWICE.
I'm surprised by the negative reviews. I first used deedpoll.org.uk around 10 years ago and it was a smooth and easy transaction. I've used them again today and again, so far, it's been a smooth and easy transaction. There was a slight error with the discount not being applied so I emailed customer services and only a short while later got a response with an apology and the error has been rectified. The documents you receive upon changing your name ARE recognised legally and CAN be used for passports, driving licenses, etc. I've used mine to get a passport and driving licence and will be using my new one when it arrives to renew both of them. The government website says that some places may not accept them, like your bank, but that's down to their own requirements. In which case you'd need an enrolled deedpoll. That said, my bank accepted mine without problems and technically speaking once your passport and driving licence are updated then that's all you'd need to prove your name has changed. Yes, you can do it for free yourself according to the government advice but I'd rather pay to have a professional document proving my name change over a DIY letter done by myself.
I think it’s either a scam website or a scam phone number they messaged me from. They wanted to take payment over the phone but I refused to do so. They then texted with : “We have cancelled your application”.... Not to be trusted.
I like many others don't have a good word to say. Applied on January 29th 2020 for the deedpoll with a date set for 1 March 2020 as I was waiting for other reasons to change my name on this date. The site said it will be sent within a week, I even had a phone call within 10 minutes of ordering to confirm the date of 1 March was correct. After not receiving the deedpoll after 2 weeks I just assumed the person that called had got it wrong and I wouldn't receive the deedpoll till after the 1 march had passed.By 7 March and with no sign of it I sent an email to find out what was the delay to recurve a reply that my order had been cancelled without any notice. They did offer to send the order out as a priority but for me this was not good enough and have now decided to go elsewhere (governed site) and told them I wouldn't be reordering and asked them to remove me off all their databases and please don't contact me again. Was somewhat shocked to then receive an email (clearly can't read the do not get back in touch) saying they would cancel my application, hang on, didn't you send me an email stating my application was already cancelled or was that just lies. Funnily they didn't reply to that email, I can't think why. As others have put, the pricing is not on the final bill of sale and neither is a breakdown of costs, you have to go looking. For me my advice is go elsewhere, a dreadful company and lousy customer service.
Unfortunately I have to agree with the other 1 star reviews. These papers have no legal standing at all, the .gov website gives you a template for free to use which will do the same thing. A name change is what you wish to be known as and nothing more. PLEASE READ THE .GOV WEBSITE! Deed polls issued by any co.pany are all unenrolled, so you are just as well to buy the cheapest at £5.99 if you can not be bothered with the free one at the gov website. Fees are not clear at point of sale, which I personally will be making an official complaint to officials as not only under consumer rights but also to companies house. I was shocked to find that there is no sale price at the point of sale once all details were entered, the agreement of sale is not made clear at all. It is almost like buying an item with no price tag. I did call about this and they simply tried to justify why I should use them against the gov website, this was appalling as I started to feel sorry for her. She even tried to justify how many they do a year and even mentioned that they get this type of complaint all the time! Well if they get this all the time why are they still not improving there service instead they want to side blind people into paying! None of these documents are legal and are not on any official register. The only official enrolled register is via the gov website which yes you do require a solicitor to sign and oath for you but I think I would rather do that and pay that bit extra. I have had a quote from a solicitor of £5 to sign my deed poll, plus the £36 from the .gov fees, so not the hundreds the company claims. They are scaring people into thinking this is right!

Top 5 Effective Ways To Spot a Scam Website [VIDEO]

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.

Our staff verifies that this service works and is trustworthy. For robust, essential protection, their Standard plan is a steal at just $8.29 for individuals, and you can extend that crucial peace of mind to your entire household with the Family plan (up to 5 users) for only $16.49. They also introduced the Unlimited plan starting from $14.99 that covers not only automatic data removals, but also unlimited custom removals available right away upon purchasing the Unlimited plan. It allows users to submit websites not yet covered by Incogni and get their data removed from there, too. They also offer a free exposure scanner that will give you an insight into what data of yours is exposed and where.
