Jonathon provided prompt, efficient and expert service to help us deal with various damp problems in our Victorian home. We now feel much better prepared to find and brief suitable tradespeople to do the remedial works.

A really positive experience after years of recurring damp problems. I contacted Damp Detectives after having a (chemical) damp proof course fail, and told subsequently that I needed a new chemical DPC.Nigel from Damp Detetectives completed a comprehensive (damp) survey of each room in my house, taking readings and explaining to me the likely origins of the damp. This included learning that my house's original blue slate damp proof course is in fact perfectly intact and that my main damp issues could be resolved simply (and inexpensively) with suitable drainage around the base of my property.Nigel's survey included a host of other recommendations, involving similarly inexpensive solutions to other spots of damp around the house.This was precisely the independent, impartial damp assessment I'd hoped for. Wish I'd found these guys sooner. Highly recommended.

We had a damp survey carried out by Darren and we requested special attention towards a potentially problematic area of the floor. This inspection was on a property that we are in the process of buying and has been vacant for some time. Darren carried out a full inspection of the property and highlighted all of the areas that require attention. He provided a lot of useful advice on how to reduce existing and potential future damp and the most likely causes. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave very detailed explanations on what to look out for and how best to improve the ventilation throughout the whole house. He answered all of my questions (there were many, sorry Darren) and took the time to ensure I understood the complicated answers. We will be moving forward with the purchase and will keep Darren in mind to come back and check the areas we discussed have improved once the house has been "lived in" for a while. Our local Damp Detective (Jonathan) was just brilliant. Really well informed guy and he took lots of time to throughly explain all of his findings and teach us a comprehensive amount about how to deal with the damp issues in our (very old) house! I would recommend this company, and Jonathan in particular, to anyone with damp, mould and condensation issues. So worthwhile having the survey done. We know exactly what our next steps need to be.

Thomas is incredibly helpful. His survey identified the water ingress in my conservatory a few months ago and I was very happy with his service. I contacted him again last week due to black mould starting to appear in my rental property. He offered me two survey options (data logging to see if lifestyle choices could be causing condensation leading to mould and a full damp survey). When I queried the detail of data logging he took time to explain what this involves and kindly sent me a sample report. He readily took the time to answer my emailed questions. In the end, thanks to his help and further research online, I have decided it is very likely to be a ventilation and lifestyle issue and so will not be going ahead with a survey after all at this stage. If the measures I am putting in place fail to resolve the issue I will have no hesitation at all in going back to Thomas and appointing him to do the necessary survey. I thank him for his time given so willingly in providing information and thank him again for identifying the sources of the water ingress in my conservatory a few months ago. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

What a relief to have finally found a company who provide such an excellent service. We contacted Damp Detectives and the following day Nigel Howarth rang and we had a telephone consultation regarding our damp problems. An appointment was arranged and we were informed that it would take a few hours. Nigel arrived promptly and he spent a long time inspecting our home and taking damp meter readings. He gave us detailed information on what the problems are and how to rectify them. We received a detailed report with photo's and showing room by room where the problems are. We now have everything we need to explain to building contractors the work we need carrying out. Very prompt in explaining what he would do and was very flexible when i had to change the time at short notice, and then when i changed the option once he arrived (from just a email report to a detailed report, which required extra work for him to do). After having a damp survey done around 18 months ago we've had nothing but issues based on the poor advice given in the report.We were told a damp proof injection would sort our wall, proved to not be the case and after having another damp survey found out this would never have addressed the rising damp without taking the wall back to brick and a membrane put in.Also told damp marks on ceiling were caused by mice/rats wee. Again totally wrong. Work needed doing on roof which was only discovered when getting another person over. Problem would have been smaller if found initially.All we have had since the report has been issue after issue that surely should have been picked up by professional damp surveyors. We've also wasted more money than we should have on the remidial work and the initial survey.

Used the services of Tim (Salisbury Area) twice now on properties we were trying to buy. He was prompt to inspect, provided bullet points prior to receiving a very comprehensive. He also made himself available by phone to answer any further queries. He has probably saved us £££'s with sound sensible advice to remedy the damp/timber issues.
