Is clean-air-zone.online Legit?

Exactly as others have reported. I wanted to pay - if I was not exempt or not compliant - and was in a hurry. I assumed they were operating on behalf of the government - they're not, and they have a disclaimer saying so. I also assumed they use my car reg to check whether I needed to pay. They don't. Because they tell you not to pay if your vehicle is compliant, they get away with it, according to the government clean air support team I contacted. They told me that these companies do pass the charge on to the government, but charge the customer for the service.I accept that I shouldn't have done this in a hurry and should have read the small print. Nevertheless, the company knows exactly what it is doing in making money out of us. It relies on many of us making the same mistakes. If we were all alert, they'd make very little money.The 3rd party company that processes the payment on their behalf has told me they will refund the money.Just use the government website to check whether you need to pay. Google puts links to 4 different websites (different companies, or one company running different websites?) above the government link.

Terrible.Absolutely awful these sites exist. It will tell you to pay regardless of whether your car is exempt or not. The actual government site checks.I wrongly paid as their website told me £14. They get you as appears top of the google search and I wanted to pay before I forgot. So in a rush.Anyway I queried the fee after finding out I was exempt. They paid the £8 charge refund (demonstrating that they knew my car wouldn’t need to be paid). They refused the other £6 as this was a processing fee and they told me to avoid this fee in future I should use the official government payment page.

This company appears first in some google searches, but is NOT the government portal for making a payment. We were charged £14 for entering the sheffield clean air zone, when in fact as a private vehicle we were exempt. I have no idea if the company actually pays the fee after taking their charge. AVOID.

This company will take your money even if your car is exempt! We panicked as we had a hire car and weren’t sure if it was exempt. Not realising that this website does not tell you if the vehicle is exempt, we ended up paying £14 unnecessary.Please use the government official website to check your vehicle.

It’s a scam imo. There’s no number to call them & they don’t respond to your emails. Zero star if i could😔 I’ve sent them an email & they’re charging a fee for them replying! I can’t stop the payment coming out as they have my details!

This site does NOT check whether your car is exempt from the CAZ charge. The T&C page says they also charge £5 for processing a CAZ payment that you can do on the GOV.UK site without processing charge. The GOV.UK will also tell you if your vehicle is exempt.
