Really great experience with car del mar in Zadar Croatia! Nice guy at the desk. Quick pick up as well as return. And a very good Price!! I would certainly recommand this agency.
I have been reading a lot of negative feedback here about Cardelmar. But I think people mistake the services of Cardelmar which only is to provide a voucher with a cheaper fare to any rental car company they deal with and an insurance to cover the franchise in case of damages to the vehicle, and the car rental company itself. If I'll be late to pick up the car I assume I have to make contact with the rental car company, their phone number is written in the voucher. By instinct if I'm presented with a company I don't know, I will check the reviews on the internet or rent from the major ones where I know they will be professional. Cardelmar stipulate on their contract that any extra insurance fee from the rental car company can be declined because they cover the insurance part. The one company you need to be careful of is the rental car company itself, and avoid the ones you don't know. I have been using their service for 3 years, 2 times renting a car in the Netherlands, one in Spain and one in Sicily. In Sicily, someone through a ball or kicked the side of the car and left a dent, and driving the awful roads full of holes and bumps of Sicily damaged the tires and the wheels. Well, when we gave the car back, the agent of Locautorent who is the intermediary for Alamo pounced at the wheels first and said they were considerably damaged, it was like he knew right away where the car would be hit. after a useless argument that one would consider it is the normal use of the car in that part of the country, with the dent on the side, they charged me 980€. I was really thinking that if some other car rental company would try to make me pay more than the voucher, Locautorent found the good way to make you pay much more. It was like being cheated and helpless. Back home I called Cardelmar and the lady on the phone said they knew locautorent was known for this practice. She also said I was fully covered with the insurance I took with them and after sending all the appropriate papers, I should get a refund. All of this happened on Sept. 20, 2020. I received an email yesterday saying that everything was OK and I'll get the refund within 21 days. To conclude, to my knowledge Cardelmar are good and competitive, and they do their job providing a better rate than directly with the car rental company. We have to keep in mind small rental companies will try their best to make more money out of you. Sticking to the majors will surely leave you out of trouble even if they are a bit more expensive.
Cannot agree more with all the one stars ,would give 0 if i could. Cause this is the incompetence and lack of commitment of their staff. 2 months passed and I’m still chasing my money , deducted after returning the car from my cc without any comments from anyone check24, cardelmar or Buchbinder. I've had issues with two car rentals with CarDelMar and have contacted the Customer Support regarding both issues. The issues were the exact same to the dot (I was charged Border Crossing fees even though CarDelMar's description on the site I was booking the car implied there were no fees). Yet, even though the cases were identical, both support claims were answered differently. One agreed that I was to be refunded, the other one declined and told me it was my fault.After asking the support, how the same case could be handled differently I was ignored. Not to mention the long waiting time to get any reply to begin with. Terrible customer service - would not recommend CarDelMar.
Terrible experience!I was charged twice: first time when the payment didn’t go through and the second when it did. Be careful of the hidden costs and charges! We paid €218 for voucher through Car Del Mar and only €160 was used ad the voucher, the rest was VAT and service fee. On top of that we paid €200 MORE for car insurance through Hertz. Customer service at Car Del Mar is extremely poor, agents DON’T follow up on the cases and simply don’t resolve them.
Poor Customer Service!We had a problem with the car rental due to a flight delay. We informed the car rental and they said they will make a note of it. When we arrived, there was no car for us, and then we were forced to pay extra for a worse car that did even feel safe to drive. CarDelMar was quite useless resolving the issue with the car rental at the time and also replied to our complaint that they cannot help and cannot refund the extra money we were forced to pay. So, basically all they are good at is withdrawing money from our credit card but when it comes to the quality of the service, they dont seem to care much.
Cardelmar has an easy website, good prices and excellent customer service. I booked a car with insurance at Cardelmar. The car rental company sent me a bill for damage to a side mirror the day after I returned the car. I contacted Cardelmar customer service, they replied within one day. I sent all the information they needed and they processed my claim within 4 days. Wow! That's what I call good service.
Worst customer service. Made a reservation for 5pm and happened to get to the rental place 1.5 hrs earlier. They couldn’t give me my rental car even though I wanted to pay for the extra time so they made me wait! Seriously, what is wrong with you, I’m trying to give you more money for extra time and all you have to do is change the time in the reservation and you can’t do it even though the car is sitting right there in the parking lot.

Car Hire Companies in tourist resorts can be a real pain to deal with - even the best. CarDelMar take the hassle away, explain the insurances and save you a bit of money in the deal. It doesn't stop the hire company agents trying to sell you all kinds of extras but it gives you the confidence to politely refuse. I will use them for all my car hire requirements.
Booked a car for 11 days from Venice Marco Polo via CarDelMar, ensuring the agent had an on site desk. Booking was with Sicily By Car, whose desk was situated with other agents in the arrivals hall. Got upgraded to a higher class car with Sat Nav, so very happy with result. Handing car back was easy, so overall a very good experience. Thanks
This company provided an excellent service. My wife and I were picked up in the airport car park and driven by minibus a sort distance to the office where we picked up our car. The friendly staff checked my details and after an examination of the car (first time ever with any rental company) we were on our way. Seven days later we return the car, it was examined by staff, and were returned to the airport. Its a no brainer where I will hire a car next time I go to Portugal!
Our car hire was with Auto Rent who we have used before. They are one of the best at Faro. The staff are friendly and helpful, the car is always fine and their prices are fair. They also use the 'full to full' fuel policy which is much better than some other companies use. I would definitely recommend them.

Very competitively priced, efficient and very easy to deal with. I've booked with them before and have no hesitation in recommending using this excellent company. Collected car from Cape Town airport, all went very smoothly and returned the car three weeks later, Again efficient and smooth.
We had a business trip to Italy in the winter and since in general italians don't offer winter tyres, we found a Cardelmar offer on billiger-mietwagen for 544€, whereas the offers without winter tyres were for around 200€. At the pickup it turned out that the car was not with winter tyres as booked. I called the billiger-mietwagen and the customer service assured me that once back we can claim the difference. It took me a month and numerous emails with the arrogant cardelmar staff, where initially they claimed that they had not offered winter tyres and later on claimed that the provider on site was not obliged to provide the winter tyres!!! But this was the reason to pay more than double.If I could give negativ stars, I would gladly do that.I recommend highly to stay away from these arrogant frauds.They only collect cash and rely only that no one will start any legal actions, since they will cost much more than the claims.Horrible experience and I assure you - never ever again!
The car was an upgrade, which was a really pleasant start. It was also a diesel which meant our fuel costs were significantly reduced. It was also brand new with only 850 kms on the clock. The member of staff was really helpful and made our tour of Iceland excellent due to his advice on where to go. The price of the vehicle was lower than most of the well know rental companies, but the service was just as good, if not better. (we have driven rentals in many countries) Pick up and drop off was easy with the least amount of fuss. All together this was a great deal

I have booked a car with this company with full insurance, when returned they said that cat jumping from a tree damages the roof and that i had to pay 1000€ for the damage. I told them i have full insurance but they didnt car they just took 1000€ and thats it. They told me if i have problems with insurence to contact the manager named Serif. When i claimed the insurance i recieved only 850€ because this manager Serif charged me 150€ compensation for lost revenue in time of repair which is not covered by any insurance! Actual damage was 650€, all other was some administrative fees and this compensation. And the car will never be repaired because its 7 years old Fiat Panda with 50000km. Never ever use this company, also be avare that they have also company Drive rent a car, Global rent a car and green motion rent a car!!

“Avoid car del mar like the plague”
I used car del mar in far Portugal and they were terrible. The direction they gave to find our car hire firm were wrong so wasting 45 mins of our time lugging luggage aground the airport car park. They then would not accept my wife as sole driver and we were ripped off 25 euro to add her. Their follow up response to my complaint has been if anything worse. Avoid like the plague

A very useful service comparing car hire rates over many suppliers but beware the hidden problems. We arrived at Luton to pick up a car 50 minutes late from Green Motion and found the office closed and were asked for £30 out of hours charge. The time we booked was within their office hours but we could not estimate the time from flight arrival to car pickup point so were late. It was impossible to relate this complaint to CardelMar through their complaints form which rejected our booking number. The booking software should allow for the likely time from flight arrival to office when estimating flight cost and warn if margins are tight.
“Thieves. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!”
Booked a car to be picked up from Brandenburg, Germany. Had booking confirmation etc. On arrival no car was there for me. Car Del Mar nonetheless took my money and refused to refund. These guys are thieves. Any reputable car company will deduct payment after you return car. These crooks take it before you even collect it - and if no car is there they will take it anyway.
“Stole my Money”
Booked a car from car del mar via Check24.de. When I went to pickup car the Budget knew nothing about it. But money was deduced from my credit card non-the-less. Check24.de takes no responsibility and car del mar cannot be contacted. A quality company, like Sixt, who I end up renting car from, does not deduct money till AFTER car is returned. These guys will charge you before you even pick it up. Stay away fro Car Del Mar (and Check24.de)!
“Horrific”
The measure of a good company is how they deal with problems when they occur. We had a problem (the car hire company supplied us the wrong, and inappropriate, vehicle). Cardelmar simply weren't interested. Quoted terms and conditions that didn't even address the issues we encountered and showed no interest whatsoever in even discussing it with us. Don't touch these guys with a barge pole. Tip for consumers:If you have to use them to get a feeling for prices but make sure you book direct with the rental company. Service Value Quality
“I would never rent from this company again”
I would never rent from this company again. It took over an hour of administration before I had the keys to the car and about half an hour waiting to hand back the keys at the end of the holiday. Whilst waiting, I saw lots of unhappy customers complaining about different things. The main complaint is about the hard selling that you have to put up with at the counter whilst they complete the admin. They strongly advise you that you need further insurance and of the dire consequences of not having that extra insurance in various scenarios. I won't hire from Europcar either as they appear to be associated with CarDelMar.
“A scam, beware!”
It's a scam! They overcharged me 40 euro for picking the car up outside office hours, but they gave me the wrong office hours when I made the booking (maybe on purpose, because it looks someone on here had a similar issue). After endless calls with their support members, a support woman named Lieke who always interrupted me and never let me finish my sentence hangs up on me because she says she is not enjoying the conversation with me. I was stunned, more so since I own a support line myself! I was never rude in any way, I just told her that she needs to let me finish my sentence because I am the customer and it's her job to let me at least finish my sentence. She started arguing with me and hang up on me because she didn't enjoy the conversation. I was appalled! I bet she had no idea what my issue was even, because she didn't listen at all, but boy did she have a temper! And terrible English too. Worst company ever!

“PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY”
Please please please do NOT use CarDelMar or Rhodium/Goldstar. I booked a 4 door, four seater Fiesta car in the South of France for £150 approx - the final cost was over £450 once the local car hire company Goldstar had charged me additional costs for virtually everything, refused to accept the insurance, forced me to upgrade by offering a Fiat 500 etc The car was available from Hertz and Budget for £350. It is a SCAM. It also took me over 90 minutes in the sweltering heat before I finally drove away. A lesson learned for me!"
“Absolute scam!”
If it was possible to give ZERO stars, I would. This has been the most negative experience I have ever had with a car rental broker. Then only reason the fees seem so low is because the enormous amount of hidden fees that arrive at the car rental desk. By this time it is absolutely too late to cancel the reservation as the broker refuses to give you a discount. Brilliant plan at cheating hardworking customers. The customer service is completely unhelpful and says you only have the option of paying the desk fees and getting your rental car or paying for your reservation and not getting your car. I picked up my renting car on july 8th to 11th in Malta and I have been very disappointed with the service. I rent the car with "Car del Mar" company and I paid 104 euros for the car with comprehensive coverage. When I arrived to Malta, they used an intermediary company: Aquarius Rent a Car. They gave me the car and they charged to me 112 additional euros just because. They charged me the fuel: 36 euros for a half tank, that does not correspond with was in the tank, wich are 15 or 20 euros. They also charged me the comprehensive coverage, which I had already paid it. (Then I paid the coverage two times!) They have charged me 25 euros to collect the car at the airport. And the guy who checked me tried to charge me more things but he removed it because I complained. Then, I paid two times for the same car. I think this is a fraud.

They are thieves. They rented a car with UNLIMITED millage. When I went to pick it up it was LIMITED. When I came back I putted a claim for the extra money that I paid to Car rental company.
