capitalonebank.com Review

The Scam Detector website Validator gives capitalonebank.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 89.1. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 89.1 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to capitalonebank.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning capitalonebank.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between capitalonebank.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of capitalonebank.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of capitalonebank.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. capitalonebank.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether capitalonebank.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether capitalonebank.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, capitalonebank.com.

Discrimination with Accounts This should have a -5 stars; the option isn't available. I have been a customer with Capital One since before Hibernia (Several Take Overs); therefore, my account is established. I thought I purchased a computer from Dell Sunday, 10/24/21, Capital One even sent a text to confirm the purchase, I thought it was done. I received an email from Dell stating the order was on hold and that I needed to contact the bank. I called Capital One today only to discover there's a $2500 limit on my debit card purchases and that I must contact them for additional use of my funds. I also have a Capital One 360 account with my son. Ms. Lindsey 647628 advised that I could have made the purchase using that account which has a higher limit of $5000. I opened this account for my son whose in college. He has access at 20 with his account than I do at 48 with an account that has been established and opened for decades. This is a form of account discrimination! I was advised that I can close my existing account and open a 360 account to have access to a higher limit on my debit card or I can keep the account I have and continue requesting access to my funds. I just don't get why access must be granted when a text is sent to confirm the transaction. It's our money as customers; we should have access to our funds whenever we want them without getting permission from Capital One!
Traveling in another country.wanted to login to my account but the only way to receive my verification code is through phone SMS. Since, I was in another country and not using the regular simm card, therefore I cannot receive my verification code through phone SMS. Simple issue, but capitalone in year 2020 technology cannot resolve this simple communication issue, because they refused. Therefore, I cannot access my account when I needed it and cannot do what I wanted to do.Tried to contact them but failed. Because their system is intentionally designed not to let u contact them.phone number not reachable. No commonly social media or email to communicate.Only way thru tweet. Explained everything but still they refused to help and don't care.Capitalone new regulation, no tweet account no capitalone account allow to access or remainn active!!!Even with tweet account, capitalone refused to take care of small issue and intentionally refused customer access to their account. So cannot access my own account Capitalone = garbage bank
My tax refund check was from BBVA Compass Bank. NORMALLY banks will cash their own checks. Some require that you have an account with them 1st. Others will just cash it as long as you have two forms of ID. I went into the compass branch in Lynwood, CA. First... the teller was rude as she made a ugly face when i gave her the check. (I guess she was baffled because the amount was more the she made in a year.) She asked if I had an account and I said no. She then went to whisper to another rude teller and came back to tell me that they would not cash it because I didn’t have an account with them. I informed her that it would not be a problem to open one. She then replied that the check was too much money as it was more the. $2500 and to try Walmart... I’ve never been so insulted by a financial institution AND I’ve never experienced a bank that would not cash their OWN banks check that a business account owner had the funds to cover! BBVA Compass bank makes up their own rules and should not be in business!!!
The two stars are for costumer service. They are very nice and try to help you when you have a problem, but the dispute dept. and back office over the dispute dept is of no help at all . In fact I do not believe they even read the 25 pages of Documents I sent in to prove I did not receive what I paid for with the BBVA credit card. They make you wait 3 months for nothing at all if you are charged for a product you do not receive, or receive defective and unacceptable. Then they tell you there is nothing they can do about it so you go to other depts and they appeal it , when they do nothing about it it goes to the back office where they are supposed to be over the dispute dept, but they do nothing also. I doubt they even read my docs. Very upsetting process. My insurance co. made one phone call to the co. and settled it immediately. My money was returned with absolutely no help from BBVA. Stay far away from this card no matter how much money they offer you, they do not have your backs.
Have had checking, debit and credit card accounts with CapitalOne since September, 2018. In that time, FRAUD, obnoxious, disrespectful, mentally deranged, probably excons trying to rehabilitate, former drug antics, children, to try to communicate with at their call centers, pretty much all call centers with any business these days. Too much time to answer a question 2+2, hours, days, weeks, never obtaining what we, as consumers, called for in the first place. Too many escalations, having to repeat the same thing multiple times, knowing the information has been incorrectly input in their computer systems. I have had to dictate what should be entered on their computers very often to these call center people, who perceive themselves as PROFESSIONALS, what a joke!! Too much information out there with too many busy, busy, busy busy bodies having access the customers information, mega gossips. I recently have identified 2 banks and an insurance company playing with my accounts, SCREWING them up, if you will. There are many Federal Bureaus, Agencies we, as consumers, CAN and WILL report, complain to. Misusing our personal information is a Federal crime, punished by the law. CapitalOne is an on line bank, many drawbacks. I would NOT recommend banking with this bank, if you want any normalcy with banking, although most of them SUCK, have had accounts with many of the buggies. Keep reporting and eventually the Federal agencies will slap multi million dollar class action cases against these banks, as with Wells Fargo, currently ENJOYING a $142 million class action case. Unfortunately, the way of the world.
I called Capital One on Fri 9/18/20 to redeem my matured CD. Since my branch is closed due to Covid and the next closest branch is 1hr15min away I asked if they could send it electronically to my bank. They said no we have to mail you the check. It's about $90,000 so I asked if they could send it certified and they said they would. It is now over 4 weeks later and there is no sign of the check. I have called 5 times and every time I've had to wait a grueling 45 min-1 hour with a horrendous music loop that is like water torture. I don't say this to be dramatic I am serious. It is bad, really bad. Each time I call I have to explain the whole scenario and they invariably send me to a supervisor only for me to explain the whole thing again. On one occasion I spoke to a supervisor named Randy and on another occasion I spoke to a supervisor named Crae. Today I talked on the phone with an associate and she elevated it to Brian, then he elevated it to Mary and then she elevated it to Kevin. Each time in between I had to explain it again and then hold with the horrid music. They said they had stopped payment on the check and they would mail (they said they can't email it) out a lost check claim form for me to fill out and then review it. I've been waiting on this form for ten days and no sign of that either. Why am I having to wait for a form to fill out and for them to review and then start a long process of waiting all over when I wasn't the one who lost the check. They sent it out without any kind of tracking or signature required by the recipient. They're sending out massively large checks by first class mail with no idea if the checks will ever get there or any way to trace it. The supervisor Crae admitted that they are supposed to FedEx all checks over $50,000. I keep waiting and hoping someone will acknowledge how outlandish this is and cut the red tape and get me my money. By holding on to my money they are defrauding me out of $4 interest a day which is what my CD was making and thus far I have lost well over $100 in interest waiting plus an opportunity to deposit the money in Chase and get a $300 bonus on an offer that ends shortly. I am at my wits end. I desperately need this money to live on. I am a senior and it is most of my life savings. PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS HEARTWRENCHING PAINFUL SITUATION.

“Preapproved credit limit is not worth it”

I was pre-approved a 3000 dollar credit limit 2+ years ago and I regretfully took advantage of it but later down the line I lost my job so I couldn't keep up with the payments and Capital One ended up suing me for the full amount. If you don't have the funds to back up your purchases do not make the charge. It'll come back to bite you in the end. Tip for consumers:If you don't make your monthly payments they will sue you. Honestly don't bank with them period. There are plenty of other great credit cards to get that won't sue you if you suddenly become unable to pay your monthly payments. Service Value Quality

“Worse company capital one”

This is the worse company ever. I tried to pay my water bill by using the capital one credit card. And capital one decided to restricted my accounts and put them in the fraud department. They decided to place all 3 credit cards on hold where I cant use them. I sent all documents (social security, ID, Etc.) and still they couldn't verify who I was. I decided to close my account because the fraud department was not doing anything. But they sure keep my reward money of 300.00.

“"personal" Service”

A few years back; I had borrowed money from Capital One Bank. Missed a payment, human error. Instead of charging me every made up charge they could think of or threatening me, I got an actual phone call from a PERSON. She had actually checked my history with the bank; [wasn't the first time I had borrowed money from Capital One]. Long story short, problem resolved, everybody happy because a real person picked up a phone and called another person and we had a conversation. [If you are under 30, a good dictionary will give you a definition]

“Holding my money hostage”

I had a savings account for more than 3 years, and when I went to wire money, After physically fining a bank, I walked in to find out, I had to download, and so it myself? The branch does not do it? I was walked through, and manged that. Then I had to make another wire, I did that, It said success, and the next day I received a call from the fraud department, I answered there questions, said it was me, and I authorized transaction! Then I recieved a email they did not do the wire? I then called agai, and was asked personal qiestions? This is my money! And after being on hold, they said they lifted restriction, then hours later, money was put back in my account? And I ws charged 30.00 for this? I am going and closing out all accounts as soon as bank opens! Who the freak are they to question what we do with our money? My kids do not even question me. Tip for consumers:I have never had my money held hostage at a bank, and quedtioned on how I was spending my money! Products used:I will be closing all accounts when bank opens today Service Value Quality

“Scammed in the holy land”

In October I was on vacation in Europe and went to Jaffa gate In Jerusalem Israel. Two small souvenir shops, Hasanyan and Tower of David, double charged and overcharged for souvenirs. Apparently these people go to the same scammer school as the Nigerian scammers. I notified capital one to dispute the charges but given the scammers are better than me at being dishonest, I got screwed. Capital one claims to send forms requesting information to fill out for the dispute but that didn't happen. When I called again, the girl said she'd email the form. That didn't happen either. Finally, I went on their site and filled out their dispute form and sent in the pictures as well. They denied their own form! Scammers win because paperwork wasn't right. How does one look at the pics and think there's $852 worth of souvenirs? Who even spends that much in one shop? Who spends $500 for a necklace? Clearly I did. Maybe had they charged me $8k like they tried to with my friend, capital one would've thought it was fraud like her Amex card did and shut it down. Beware in Jerusalem and using your capital one card. Capital one sides and probably profits with scammers. Only after the receipt prints do you see the price if in usd and the no returns. Who expects to be scammed in the holy land? Nowhere is safe anymore. Tip for consumers:Be careful of these souvenir shops in Jerusalem . Don’t use your capital one card or atms there. Get a small amount of their money, shekels. Everything there is a scam from taxis to shops. Guard your identity ! Service

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
