Is byway.travel Legit?

We were planning a trip by train to celebrate our 80th birthdays. We wanted to travel to Italy to visit Ravenna and a few other historic cities. Our daughter-in-law suggested Byway, and we found them absolutely magnificent. All the staff listened carefully to what we wanted and we had a lovely tailor-made holiday. We had a lot of help on the phone beforehand with planning. All the trains were prompt, efficient and clean; the hotels suited us perfectly (Two were delightfully quirky and very interesting) and we had a wonderful time. We have already recommended Byway to friends and will continue to do so.

WhatsApp support when we found our sleeper had been cancelled whilst on the way. New train bookings and hotel sorted in transit. Trains on our trip generally late as the weather in the previous weeks had caused problems. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and we should have maybe had longer in Vienna, Salzburg and Paris and missed out Zurich, which is very expensive to eat. I did read everything before booking and had to correct a couple of things but you are asked to read the itinerary before confirming. As in the first itinerary had booked our Zurich hotel in Lausanne! No complaints, just make sure you read everything twice.

The Byway team were excellent from planning out the bespoke trip, providing the rail planner demo and for the the provision of the journey guide that was really helpful to us whilst travelling through France and around Spain. Our first time using Byway and everything went to plan. We enjoyed the ease of rail travel. We went Haarlem and Rotterdam and can highly recommend. Public transport locally was excellent allowed us to explore more local towns in Holland. I would certainly recommend Byway.

Similar to another reviewer we had our sleeper cancelled due to storm Boris. At the time we were on the Eurostar heading to Paris for our connection. At this point Byway really stepped up to the plate via their WhatsApp backup. Whilst still on the train they had organised new train routes and an overnight stopover in Zurich. We arrived in Venice the next day four hours later than originally planned, thoroughly refreshed from a good night’s sleep in an excellent hotel in Zurich. As a bonus we had four hours in Paris for lunch. Probably a better itinerary than we actually planned😄The rest of trip was absolutely excellent, all secure in the knowledge that Byway would be in the background for any issues. The Interrail rail planner app was also a great addition to the trip. I’m glad we had our glitch, because I’m sure if we had planned it ourselves we could have been in all sorts of bother, thus proving the value of their service. Many thanks to all the team at Byway

We travelled with Byway for the first time on a rail trip round Spain and returning through France. I really could'nt recommend them highly enough and the trip was everything we had hoped for. There is great support if anything goes wrong like train disruption. We were very happy with our accommodation although we had upgraded a couple of the suggested hotels and its worth just checking the alternatives offered at the initial booking stage. The detailed travel guide is very informative and also reassuring if you don't frequently travel on european trains.We usually make our own travel arrangements and didnt want a group travel experience but this gives the best of both worlds in that the hard work of booking schedules tickets and accommodation is all done for you but you still travel independently. Leave behind any perceptions of train travel based on the UK and enjoy the journey!!

Byway supported us in developing a tailored itinerary from Birmingham to Pisa via the Bernina Pass. Very responsive service and useful what's app support when a strike threatened one of our travel days in Italy. Good flexibility allowing for a mix of self booked and Byway recommended accommodation.

We sent Byway an outline of our itinerary and they quickly came back with suggested train times and hotels near stations. The online Journey Guide had all the information we needed and the WhatsApp contact was really useful in guiding us through the process of using the Interrail app. The Byway team rescued us when our plans were disrupted by a train strike, by rebooking trains and a bus to get us to our destination. This was our first time with Byway and we'll definitely use them again and have recommended them to others.

The byway team did an excellent job of helping us navigate around some rail disruption on our route. They figured out an updated route for us astonishingly quickly, and gave us a call to run it by us. The new route showed up in our journey guide, so we knew exactly where to go and what to do next, which made everything a lot easier. It really did feel like we had expert support behind us, and the team were very friendly too!

We went for Byway's French and Italian Rivieras trip, with a couple of tweaks to the itinerary, and enjoyed one of the best holidays we've ever had in 40 years of travelling. The Journey Guide they provided was a huge help - clear and informative, and providing details of everything from arrival and departure directions to recommended places to eat. The support throughout the trip was exemplary - friendly, quick and efficient. We would use Byway again without a second thought and have already recommended the company to friends. We now appreciate there can be no better way to discover Europe than by train, and Byway deliver that experience in style. Thank you!

For a first time, solo, mature lady, rail traveller this holiday experience was the best it could have been and has inspired me to do more. Reassurance all the way that I would get to my end destination on time despite the threat of strikes and potential flooding which actually didn’t occur. The choice of hotels was perfect. I won’t hesitate to use Byway again for my next holiday.

We have travelled with Byway twice now and found them to be excellent in terms of the quality of their product and their friendliness. They created a bespoke experience both times, which ran perfectly. The software they use also improved significantly over the two years.

I cannot recommend Byway highly enough.Our bespoke trip travelling across Europe from London to Istanbul was perfectly planned and anticipated with great excitement.However, due to severe weather across central and eastern Europe in particular Austria, Hungary and Romania (the Danube was 3 metres higher than danger level), our first sleeper train from Stuttgart to Budapest was cancelled.Our Whatsapp support team was immediately on hand and managed to get us to Munich. we stayed initially for 2 nights but the weather conditions were so uncertain that we stayed for a 3rd night.Byway went above and beyond to re route our trip and we were given several options. We decided to stay in Germany and spent 2 days in Cologne and 2 days in Brussels before returning home.Although it was not the holiday we had planned, we had a fantastic experience thanks to our support team at Byway.All the staff at Byway are amazing and we look forward very much to booking again.If you read the background into this company, it is a new company with vision, drive and enthusiasm and we wish them all the success they deserve in the future.

We have been planning a slow rail journey to see family in Athens and Rhodes since Covid but felt overwhelmed by the complexities. Byway was a brilliant solution in terms of managing the itinerary, interrail, accommodation choices and ferry connections. They helped us to maintain our budget and offered numerous suggestions before we plumped for our chosen route. It felt a good compromise between independent travel and a package. The addition of first class travel where available was a real bonus, making a big difference to our comfort.

Byway provided a full travel schedule that was available via a link so that it could be referred to at any time. This was really helpful. We were also provided with contact details for a member of Byway staff for both routine queries and also emergencies.

Byway staff were 10/10 from the start, and when we had to change our holiday plans, they were helpful and sympathetic and made excellent suggestions.

Byway catered really well for our bespoke requirements, including hotels, destinations and trains even allowing extra connection time for a lunch when requested. We did use the whatsapp support while away for a slight mistake on our room, that was responded to efficiently. When our tickets arrived a couple of days late (still 10 days before departure), we were generously given a £30 credit for a meal by while away, by way of an apology. Really good customer service and a well organised holiday

Byway were so easy to engage with right from the start. They had some appealing trips available, but were happy to tweak these to fit exactly what we wanted. The communication was really friendly and helpful, the booking was very easy to do, especially appreciated if you're busy and don't have time to do all the research. The team were always quick to respond, and the digital itinerary was very easy to access and included all the required details. This all added up to a very enjoyable and easy holiday, despite all the different journeys and places we visited. We also appreciated the choice of hotels and having these pre-booked for us. All in all a great service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Byway Travel.

We have just returned from our first rail holiday to France, Switzerland and Italy and cannot recommend Byway enough for making it such an unforgettable experience. Everything from planning our trip to offering help and advice was first class. We had never used interrail before so we had a few questions about how it worked which were all answered clearly. However once we got used to how the app worked it was fairly simple.Having the WhatsApp support group was a great comfort which unfortunately due to extreme weather we had to use. The service we received with this was fantastic. From being told our train had been cancelled it took less than an hour for an alternative route to be planned and a hotel booked.We found travelling by train was less stressful and more comfortable and meant we saw amazing places and met great people.We are already looking at booking our next rail adventure and will definitely use Byway again.
