WHAT'S THEIR MO In order to make intelligent and industrious people fall into their trap, they are advertising hundreds of junior-level and internship or temporary positions on LinkedIn. At their level of laziness with their material, they are a boutique firm doing very small contractor work - at best - they do not have hundreds of internships to offer. The rest is waiting for people to drain with the process I described above. You are charged 149 EUR per course. They have about 10 courses to offer. The "courses" run for a month. They have about 50 people in each course. So with a very, very conservative guesstimate, they are making 759.900 EUR per year from this. I believe these stupid schemes are their only source of income. Since everything they say is either a lie or an "alternative fact", and they say in the e-mail that each course has 50 people participating, feel free to double or triple that and see how lucrative this is. WHAT THEY RELY ON * In many countries, the employment scene did not recover to its pre-2008 financial crisis conditions. This creates an irony in which people are consistently expected to come with more education and/or experience and they are consistently paid less. A master's degree is standard, a PhD is "meh". So, everyone is looking for ways to have more pieces of paper, it's a literal gamble. * There is a human mobility crisis going on and a lot of talented people are forced to relocate. Either they face a significant threat of violence or they want a better life for themselves. Since they want to relaunch their careers and reestablish themselves - sometimes in another sector - in a foreign country, they are both desperate and assume starting from the very beginning is expectable. * With the globalization in its fourth phase, attaining a decent education and a decent vision is easy, putting those to work, on the other hand, is becoming exceedingly harder. * The real industry is just as sh***y. Especially small to mid-sized enterprises have terrible business practices, and this makes believing in such a scam easier. You ignore the red flags because they are all over the "real" business world. YOU'RE THEIR TYPE IF YOUB ARE * Coming froma modest background, but improved your skills beyond your means and now want something better. * You are in a desperate need of an income paid in a more stable currency. * You left work to raise a family/due to a health condition/due to forced or voluntary relocation, and now you are looking for a way back in. * You're motivated. Because when a lot of people are asked to devote a month to a possible employment opportunity, they would shrug it off as unnecessary, but you're on board BC you are a hard worker. But you know what they say, every good quality has a flip side which makes it a very bad quality at times. * You are trying to find your effort's worth in a crazy competitive environment infested with nepotism and exploitation. * You are urbane, college-educated, and have decent language skills. This is a profile I came ups with observing my whole group, and the so-called instructor kept saying "Doing this for years, I have never seen a group as talented as you are. You're excellent." This shows how f***** up this is becoming. In the previous generation, a person half as skilled as anyone in my group would become an executive by the single merit of bowing his/her head and enduring the corporate suffering long enough. Today, people with multiple degrees and fluency in multiple languages walk among us, unemployed. I mean, if this demographic can fall for a scam this simple, it is all but natural for people who were charmed by a fake Saudi prince, German heiress, an Israeli jewelry dealer, a faith healer, or intimidated by an IRS officer or Amazon employee who locks your laptop if you refuse to pay or whatever to be caught off guard. I know I have been stupid, but "Fool me once, and you're at fault." Bottomline is, this is pure evil targeting increasingly more qualified people. If you cannot find employment, try freelancing for a while instead of taking a bunch of unnecessary online courses. Most jobs are best learned by doing. But, if one day fishy-looking people come to you and ask whether you would like to teach an online course on a topic over which you have no expertise, please, please say "No." It is a morally depraved thing to do, to exploit other people's determination and hope even if it is going to give you a lifeline. As a person in a dire need for one, I would never, never do that.
