“Smooth selling (and sailing) in Puerto Rico”

Excellent and prompt service from Howard and BoatsFSBO. I can't say enough good things about them. We received three inquiries within a week or two from highly interested and financially qualified buyers. No tire kickers here. Two were private parties located in the US mainland and one was a charter boat operator who already had three boats operating out of the same marina in Puerto Rico where our boat was based. Unfortunately we didn't have three boats to sell. We went with the existing charter operator who had employees on site who we were able to immediately do inspections and a sea trial. Very smooth transaction.

“Jodie Goldberg of FSBO STAY AWAY!”

Not really sure what Jodie's role is at boatsFSBO.com. We hired her to list our boat 3-4 months ago. Since then she has cold called me twice to see if our boat is still available... the same sales technique she used the first time we spoke. When I tell her she already has our listing she just hangs up. I'll call her back to discuss and she ignores my calls. Is this good customer service? This site seems more of a scam than it is helpful. Jodie's number is *******780 if you need to file a complaint yourself.

“Waste of money”

Don't be fooled by the made up glowing reviews. Paying $300 to list your boat with them is equal to throwing your money overboard. They will sweet talk you into how many are looking for a boat just like yours… don't believe them!

“Spam forever”

I listed a boat for sale with this site over 5 years ago, but was not able to sell the boat through the site. The problem is that ever since I receive weekly ads promoting the site. The unsubscribe button does not stop these emails, and only labelling them as Spam has stopped them showing up in my inbox (my spam box is full of them!) Tip for consumers:Boat ad went up as requested. I didn't get any inquiries from the ad. The company then started to send me weekly emails for the next 5+ years. Products used:online ad Service

“SCAM”

I should have read reviews first. I listed my pontoon online and paid the $200. Never heard anything and never saw my boat listed anywhere. After a week or do had passed, A man called from this company wanting me to spend even more money with them. I told him that since it had been so long without hearing from them that I listed somewhere else. He actually go angry and told me that I had just listed that very day and asked why I bothered in the first place! Well, my add has never been listed and they still have my $200. I think they are crooks!

Howard called me Saturday to discuss his services, and I listed my vintage Lyman with him. Got a call on Sunday from a buyer looking for a 26 ft Lyman, and he drove 3 hours to see it. Bought it that day. Howard put together a nice listing.

After doing some research I hesitantly reached out to use this service. After considerable thought I knew it was worth the risk. Today - The sale was amazing and easily was reached to many people. I had interacted over the course of the posting with somewhere between 100 to 200 people. I sold my PWC and have heard from the new owner about their passion for the PWC. The system that is in-place for BoatsFSBO was designed with much thought. The process eliminates the need for a seller to reach out, post 40+ Ads on 40+ different sites and collectively review each site for any feedback. The ONE CON - Postings with contact information does leave the door open for the Nefarious Audience. Meaning, in short - people trying to steal from you and not pay you. I purposefully use a Google number which gives me far more control.

I wasted half the summer with craigslist. Bunch of people who were looking for a free ride on my boat. Boatsfsbo.com sold my boat in 6 days- and another person would have bought it if my first deal fell through. This is the best site by far. I will be buying another boat in the Spring and I will use this site for that purchase.

Howard communicated well, explained how his service worked and what he needed from from me. I just emailed him pix of my boat and my ad text. Howard then quickly did what he said he would do -- listed my boat on several sites, then sent links to my listing as evidence. When I had questions, he responded quickly by email. My '70s vintage sailboat sold the first week. Before listing on BoatsFSBO, I spent weeks on Craigslist and received the typical inquiries who led off by asking for a demo ride and how little I'd take. Howard explained that his service typically attracts higher-quality, experienced, serious buyers, and that turned out to be true for me.

“No headache boat sale”

Smoothest process I've ever had trying to sell a boat. My boat sold 48 hours after Boats For Sale By Owner posted my listing and for the price I needed. I recommend these guys if you are looking to sell, or buy a boat.

“Howard is the rudest person I have met”

I posted my boat on Craigslist and soon got the robot email others have mentioned. It pointed at their website and indicate that the sender, Ramsey Lewis (yeah right!), had used them with success. I filled out the form at the website and submitted it and got a notice that someone would call to get pictures. Soon Howard called to tell me how it works. He was very aggressive in getting my payment ($299) for the ad. I told him I would think about it. He called the next day and I told him I would pass on it. When I told him why, he started in on ME. He was abusive and argumentative about everything I would say and in a demeaning way. He finally said OK and hung up. I would never deal with a company that used such an in-your-face salesperson.

Made the mistake of placing an add last year. Got no responses. Sold the boat on my own locally. Called and asked to have the add removed. He tried to take credit for the sale and to this day, eight months later, the add is still running.
