bananarepublic.com Review

The Scam Detector website Validator gives bananarepublic.com the absolute highest trust score on the platform: 100. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Safe. Secure. . We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same issues. So, why this very high score? We came up with the 100 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to bananarepublic.com's industry. The algorithm detected no high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Safe. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we label this website as secure and trustworthy. We explain this in more detail below.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning bananarepublic.com, let's dive deeper into the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between bananarepublic.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of bananarepublic.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of bananarepublic.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. bananarepublic.com is a secure website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether bananarepublic.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether bananarepublic.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, bananarepublic.com.

Please don't order from this company. I wish I had read these reviews first. I ordered over $300 in clothes, five minutes later I checked my email and an old address was still on the account. I IMMEDIATELY called... still 5 minutes, to get it changed. They said I should cancel and get refunded and ordered again. That's what they did... canceled it.. so they said. Two days later I got an email that it had shipped. I called them and they said there was no guarantee that it was going to be cancelled... HUH? They said I should call UPS to change the address. UPS said I COULD'NT change the address because the vendor prohibited it. It still hasn't shipped and Banana Republic refuses to either change the address or cancel it. They said I'll need to file a claim once I don't receive it. WHO DOES THAT?
Gap and BR are one of my favorite stores. Fast shipping, easy returns. The quality is good. I hope they will pay more attention to sustainability otherwise, no complaints.
Generally love the quality of their items. At Gap, for simpler easier items, my favourite are jeans, at Banana Republic for casual smart and office wear. The sizing is good, too, true to size. I really appreciate the ease of online ordering and having items delivered to a store. I live abroad, so that's the easiest option for me. I also love the ease of either returning or exchanging items bought online, just drop into the nearest store. Never have had a problem. And I love that they ship to Europe :)
I recently discovered Banana Republic online sales, and they are terrific! I have found sweaters, pants, blouses, v- necked long sleeved t shirts...all basic, build able pieces, high quality, great fit. If you're looking for cutesy, frilly, one season stuff, this is not your go to. If you like classic, well fitting, super low priced fashion that holds up and that's not going out of style, this is your place.
It’s very frustrating and disappointing that Banana Republic will not ship clothing from store locations, even if you pay for shipping yourself. When seasonal items go on sale, the size options online disappear quickly. If these items are still available in store locations too distant to access in person, the BR policy is you cannot buy them remotely. Such was the case in buying two mens Luxe Poplin shirts online, which immediately upon arrival I found were too big. But by then, no smaller sizes were available online. Despite two stores having the correct size medium, I'm left with nothing but a return to fill out. And assuming these shirts are seasonal and not discontinued, I will most likely not see them again for a year, if ever again.
Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy have great prices but their orders are sometimes mixed up or lost. They are willing to replace or issue credit if needed so you can trust that they care about their customers. Only thing I wish they would do is make their rewards better for loyal customers. The representatives are very knowledgeable and willing to help.
One of my favorite and go-to shops for casual clothes. I can put together great combinations and looks for every day wear. It's casual, comfy and professional all in one. They often have bargain sales and a decent rewards program. I can always leave with something good when I visit.
Banana's site is great and easy to navigate through. Sometimes they got some really good sales, especially their additional 40% off. I can't speak for their heritage collection or luxury touch, but their regular items fade easily after a couple of watches. I've bought a few polos and regular tees and they lose their structure and the color fades. Their jackets and jeans seem to be fine though.
I don;t like Gap and don;t go to their shop but I was at a loss to find something tartan for a Burns Night. Banana Republic came to my rescue with decent quality trousers and a matching jacket in good fabric with stretch and warmth. I ordered two sizes to try and the one I returned was promptly refunded. Only comment I would add is that it would have been considerably over-priced at the full price but fortunately I got it in the sale.
I bought a sweater on Banana Republic final sale. It was clearly a previously worn item, it had hair and lint on it. To make it worse the sweater also had significant pilling on it from previous wear. I also noticed that the shipping label said that it was shipped from "GAP INC RETURNS". If they are going to resell returned items they should be inspected and then labeled as such. I was expecting a new item.
I ordered and immediately changed my shipping address and they emailed me a confirmation. Then they send the order to the wrong address and when I called them they still won't fix it! Apparently I have to call AGAIN when the package arrives to hopefully get it fixed? WHY? They messed up, stop requiring the customers to jump through all these hoops. Terrible experience.
I placed an order through the Banana Republic website on Nov 29 with "promised delivery" on Dec 11. The tracking through USPS showed "pre-shipment" on Dec 1, and then that they received the item on Dec 11. I contacted BR customer service twice and both times they blamed the USPS and basically said "if it doesn't arrive in a few days get back to us". Terrible! I'm not shopping here again. Expect shipping delays and poor customer service.
Clothing has been quite mediocre and feels average in wear and design as of late, especially for the men's side. Their partnership with Synchrony Bank and their BR rewards program is good but yikes, their customer service is monotone and lackluster. You can tell they are there to do the bare minimum with no enthusiasm. Not excited to shop there as I used to.
No customer service at all! I have returned a piece of a merchandise a month ago via Canada Post using their prepaid shipping label and until now I have not received my money back! Tried to contact them via email, no response. Tried to call them and have been kept on hold for over an our, no success in getting through. Even though the tracking system shows they have received the merchandise and the message said I should get my money back 2 to 3 days after, I have not been issued a refund yet. Customer beware!
I've been a customer of BR for many years before they had a wide presence in Canada. Anytime I was in the States, I would be sure to stop at one of their stores and stock up on office essentials (Khaki's, button-downs and sweaters). Then, they merged with Gap, or some other unholy alliance, and a noticeable decline in the quality of the clothing happened. Not so ironically, the quality went down and pricing up... just like the Gap model - low quality, high priced garments (wonder how that's working out for Gap & Co?).Lately, I only buy from them when they have massive sales. The quality seems to have rebounded for some items - e.g. Khaki's - but the pricing model is crazy. At regular prices, a pair of trousers and a button-down would cost one a pretty significant chunk of change -$345 Cdn. Insanity! BR seem to think they're in the same league as high-end competitors, which they are not. I think they've forgotten their roots and with it their commitment to quality. Now with Amz in the clothing market with Amz essentials and Good threads lines offering decent quality mens clothing at sane prices mere mortals can afford, I hope BR makes some over due changes to their practices. One can hope anyway, and in the meantime it's good to have options.
From 2007-2011 I believe that I spent about $40,000 at Banana Republic. I even visited their luxe store BR Monogram in New York in 2008 and spent thousands. What I loved about BR was that they had a classic yet stylish look to their clothes. They gave you the classic fashionable edge that you couldn’t get from Ann Taylor AND the prices were in-line with the quality. I was fine paying higher prices for the brand. Some time after 2011 their style changed and the quality changed and the prices skyrocketed. I would walk into the store and walk out empty handed. After so many experiences like that I just gave up. After years of absence, last month I decided to order something online from them. I received my order yesterday and I really like the product. But, I can only buy items that are on sale because the prices are still a bit out of my budget and I’m not completely sold on the quality for the higher prices yet.
I ordered a shirt online for my son from Ca. I washed it (as I do all my new clothes before wearing for the first time) and it looked worn, wrinkled, and shrunk! I tried to return it to our Southpoint, Durham, NC store, as advertised online that is possible and was told by the manager that he would not accept it because it was "washed." I asked if the merchandise was not guaranteed for satisfaction after one wash, and he said no. I asked for his supervisor, whom he called and I talked to her. She said it was up to the manager and I could try going to another store. Our next Banana Republic is one hour away! So DONT EVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY if you wash before wearing.
Bought two items. When items arrived, one happened to be face masks instead of a sweater. I have to return the item to receive the refund and they won't send a replacement until they receive the item back. The item is now no longer on sale, I'm out of a sweater and stuck with 50 dollars of unused gift card.
I love it when I order a piece and it arrives promptly. That's equally as important as the price and quality. Thankfully over all my orders have arrived quite fast so cheers to that.
Love the website and have ordered several things. Recently I have spent close to a thousand dollars. Always buy on sale and very glad that I do. I would be so upset if I paid full price for some of the items that are made so poorly!!!!! Come on guys, do better.

“Sorry to say goodbye”

Shopped at a BR store yesterday - first time in a long time. Very disappointed. Although I have shopped at BR for many years, I think I have finally aged-out of their clothing lines. This is unfortunate to BR as the 'older' population is growing and many of us do not like shopping at Talbots - we like shopping at stores like BR. Your wide-legged slacks may be a runway favorite, but who is actually wearing them during a regular day? No straight or slightly flared? Also, I have never worn a size 16 in my life, but according to their slacks, the only way one will fit is if I wear a size 16. I'm not buying a size 16. Ever. So au revoir BR. Service

“Lost in the mail”

I never received this order of 6/4! I have been tracking this order since the due date of 6/14. I have submitted requested updates and received No phone calls or updates! I have been lied to my numerous times by customer service agents about the whereabouts of my order. This is the worst customer service ever! Now I get notice that you have received " my return"? I never got the package, how did I return it? I need answers from someone in the US and not lies from someone in the Phillipines! I will never order or shop with Banana Republic again! Products used:I never received this order of 6/4!! I have been tracking this order since the due date of 6/14. I have submitted requested updates and received No phone calls or updates! “Creepy Store, Long Hold Times”

BR used to be quite a good company. Now the fabrics are a lower level quality with much less stylish designs. Hold time for a return was long and site didn't allow me to log in for the return. Fashion photos on site are creepy, humanoids instead of down-to-earth humans. Products used:None. Value

“Good will policy on Final sales returns”

Be aware and do not buy Final Sales at Banana Republic. If you clothing won't fit ( you buy online and can't try on) or you change your mind the customer service will tell you that the only option you have is to sell it or donate it to Threat up, which is a form of Good Will. I will be donating my final sale to Good Will because it will take less stress. The jeans sizing at Banana is terrible and inaccurate, they are very big and long so you can never buy your regular size because there is always misfit. I will be shopping at J.Crew and Lululemon where they take final sales for store credit in the case of misfit

“They steal from you”

I placed an order for pants for work on 9/25/22. It is now New Years Eve. Its been over 3 months and no pants, I call to see whats going on or to get a credit so ai can order more pants because I never received them. The tracking says awaiting pick up from carrier so they never left the facility it looks like. I was just told they cannot give me a refund or store credit because its been so long. Whose fault it that? I've been waiting for these to show up. If you're out of stock or theres an issue on your end fix it. Would that let me speak to a manager. I would not order here. They are literally stealing by taking your money and not sending you what you ordered in exchange. Service Value Quality

“Final Sales items”

After years of being a loyal customer I finally have to say that the customer service for returns is very poorly. Hardly reduced items are final sales and customers are forced to keep their online orders. The prices have increased greatly but not the quality of the clothing. Banana Republic doesn't provide any more a good customer service. There are many more good retailers out there where I will shop from now on.

“Bad interaction with checkout staff”

Its about the lady on checkout register when i went to (banana republic) toronto premium outlet. I had with me my brothers employee discount card and i was willing to use it but then when they told me they can't do it unless the person who owns it is with us. I immediately get that and said no problem i still even purchase what i got. After shortly i came back with my brother as he was around there in outlets and requested if they can refund so that we can use discount card,, she was so rude and unnecessarily was giving lecture and how i can't pay and blah blah when i used the same card many times and she could have told us politely, she was giving so negative vibes,, just because of that lady i am not going to banana republic ever! So disgusted with that $#*!.

“Deceptive advertising, terrible customer service”

Banana Republic posted an ad on Instagram with an androgynous person in a smiling pose, a blue puffer jacket. I ordered it because I thought the woman looked friendly and I liked the color. I chose a large. I received a man's puffer jacket for a huge man, should have been XXL, and when I tried to return it, I was told it was non-exchangeable, no flexibility. This is pathetic. All stores that sell online tell you what gender you are ordering so you can determine size accurately. I think Banana Republic is dishonest and untrustworthy. Service Value Returns

“Lost Touch With Reality”

What mediocre clothes for inflated unrealistic prices. I used to love this store but now not only could I not afford to shop here but I would not pay these prices even if I could afford for such drab boring clothes. Cosmetic jewelry prices also unbelievable.

“Be careful, the return policy is awful”

They have a sizing guide so when you buy you think you are getting the right size. Then when it comes, it doesn't fit. And guess what, they don't let you return or exchange it! I just wasted over $200 on my order. Will never order again from them. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Extremely slow shipping, poor customer service”

Estimated shipping date at time if purchase several days earlier than actual eta when shipping confirmation was ultimately sent. As it turned out id be out of the country for the real delivery date. I contacted customer service to either expedite or hold the shipment, they would do nothing for and had no interest whatsoever in helping. Too many options out there to waste my time and money with them again. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Amazing order fulfillment. Pictures too small”

I returned 3 of my last purchases but keep trying buying there because the service is just AMAZING. Placed an order at 5 pm, got it shipped to me same night at 9 pm (on Sunday), Monday noon at my door. It's hard to shop at this website because pictures are so small. They need to at least offer how many pictures you see per column. Need to have more detailed pictures of fabric, buttons and other details. Otherwise this company has a potential of surviving the China craze.

“Terrible return policy”

Banana Republic now has a strict 30-day return policy. This applies to gifts too. So even if you have an item with tags and receipt and it's been 31 days since your purchase, they will not let you exchange or return the item, even for store credit. Considering their price point and target demographic, this is an extremely disappointing policy and well below industry standard. Target has a better return policy. After a decade of exclusively shopping at BR for work clothes, no more. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Customer Service NOT”

A simple chat online to explain pricing that was not going through at check out. Spoke to Nicholas R. Who was not inclined to help or explain what was clearly misrepresented on the item. Stated 50% off but at check out it was 10% off... He pretty much told me to look closer at terms and conditions and as I was typing my next question, he ended the chat! Banana Republic has been slipping in quality a lot in the past few years and their customer service was never top notch, but this was awful. While I love their jewelry, I am done with any of their product.

“Refund process is terrible”

I didn't know, banana republic has so lengthy time period for returning of goods and items, it is already more than 1 month, and I had to call more than 3 times to know about the update. And while checking update I can see the package is still in transit not even delivered. Are you kidding me, in one month? Looks like, they only want to push back my reimbursement. Beside that I am finding most of their product that are sale like 50 percent discount, the products are quality less and not reasonable the amount I paid. So, I would like to give only one * to this company.

“This COMPANY is a MESS. It used to be wonderful.”

It's with reluctance that I write this because I bought at least half of my wardrobe at BR for over three decades. However, in the past few years, it's gone from a 10 to a 2. The materials are cheap, the clothing isn't sized in any cogent way and the Customer Service has declined significantly. Don't even think about doing online ordering. It's a nightmare. Their Customer Service is just silly. They also ask far too many personal questions before you can even speak with someone. (There are also 5 personal questions to change your password; I gave up). If they paid as much attention to the quality of their clothing and their customer service as they did to the security of my account, I'd still be a customer. I've gone back to J. Crew, after a 25-year gap (no pun intended), and also shop at Nordstrom from time to time, as well as a couple of boutiques. What a shame! Tip for consumers:This used to be a wonderful Company. No more. Products used:1 TeeShirt out of 3 orders. Terrible clothing.

“Horrible Customer Service”

You suck, I used to love your company back in the day. It was amazing. Emphasis on "was". Now, you have zero customer relations. My last experience was in fact my last; Period. Trying to resolve my query with a sales associate, I was bombarded, repeatedly, with the constant request to become a "Luxe" member. I declined, numerous times, as I am a person with triple A credit and I do not need or want a pedestrian "store card". To finalize, I was dismissed by said employee with the quip "you are just a regular customer". Seriously? Sell outs.

“Rude associate named Lisa at Valley Square”

I contacted the Valley Square store this evening to find out when the 50% off sale ends. Lisa answered and said, I think it ends on the 4th. So I asked her to please confirm that this information is accurate. She talked to me in a very sarcastic way and did not answer my question. You really need to know when your sale begins and ends(your job) and act professionally, lose the sarcasm.

“Faulty merchandise.”

Ordered a shirt from them online. Product came with a security tag attached. They offered me a ridiculous sum as settlement which I rejected. Don't order from them. This is not the company we used to know.

“Customer Service - non existent”

I recently ordered some dress shirts for my nephew who lives in Saratoga Springs, NY. I realized immediately when the order confirmed that it was showing my home address as the shipping destination. I called right away to change the address and I was told it was impossible to do that. When I asked if I could cancel the order, they said NO that would not be possible. What kind of company does that? I've ordered from them for years but that's not happening any more. I'll continue to write these reviews in the hope others won't have this problem. Not a good idea to order from them if you looking for good customer service.

“Horrible customer service”

I sent an email about an unresolved issue and received a phone call from Zack who was unavailable when I called back. Had to listen to his voice mail 5 times because he mumbled his phone number. Ended up hitting redial. He was on break so the woman that was speaking with me transferred my call (without informing me) and then was in a long cue. Called back and spoke with a woman who told me it was over 90 days so I cannot return the item. I did return the item, with their prepaid label but the item was sent back to me without being looked at. Then I was moving so the item got packed and it was never dealt with. So upset that I literally paid for a defective item, I decided to pursue this further. Bottom line is they DO NOT CARE! I will cut up my credit card and never go to Banana Republic or Gap again. Actually like Ann Taylor Loft better. Their items are nicer and I get better prices there. Bye bye Banana Republic. You do not care about your customers!

“Disappointing service”

I've been sent totally the wrong item twice in the space of afew months and the returns policy puts all responsibility on the customer to deal with the company error, really poor.I won't be buying from them any more. They're clothes are good but the lack of quality with their service has completely put me off. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Deteriorating brand”

This brand used to represent luxury, beauty and function in design, and aspirational fashion but sadly it has deteriorated over time specially after Marka Hansen stepped down. Its designs lack inspiration, freshness and edginess and the brand lacks direction and clarity in vision. I don't understand their aesthetics. Their sizing is off, too. Gone are the modern and beautiful designs, replaced by boring and tacky ones.

“Stollen Package”

Someone stole my banana republic package and instead of sending replacement they refunded my money... It is a hassle to have to go back on website and search for items and reorder them... For the amount of money they charge, they should have better options for their customers... Products used:two shirts Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“More expensive as it has become more conventional”

Some person in Mexico started a chain called Banana Republica with bootleg copies of all their producs. When it started it was a daring and innovative store selling everything Indiana Jones might need on his next adventure. The stores had jeeps sticking halfway out of the window and elephant tusks and terrific safari jackets. Not everyone who buys this stuff intends to go on safari, just look like you just came back. Then the GAP bought it and removed all the things that made it interesting and raised the prices. I have 3 safari jackets from the old Banana Republic (all good value and quality) and a $110 belt from the new Banana Republic. The design and quality of the old safari jacket was unique to them. A $110 belt is not.

Are You the Owner of bananarepublic.com?

If you own bananarepublic.com, we’d love to hear from you. If you'd like to challenge the trust score we’ve assigned, we’re happy to take a closer look. However, please be prepared to provide solid proof of your business's legitimacy. Introduce yourself with your name (not just "Admin").

When domain owners contact us to dispute their trust score, we kindly ask for the following:

* Business documentation that verifies your legitimacy (e.g., certificate of incorporation, business registration, or official records with the site or business name).

* Your personal LinkedIn profile and the business's social media accounts (e.g., Facebook).

* If available, proof of satisfied customers (e.g., screenshots, not just testimonials on your website), evidence of inventory, or records of handling order cancellations properly.

We’re more than willing to update your review based on the evidence you provide—the more proof, the higher your trust score. Please note, however, that we cannot verify non-operational websites or those redirected to other URLs. Additionally, we do not verify websites involved in high-risk financial services, gambling, adult content, or illegal activities.
