It is a scam, once you pay the Basic $28.95 for the report and you submit the report to the person that promised to pay the full price for your vehicle, then it is the end of the communication with the prospective buyer. Cancelled my credit card immediately!!
I too believe it is a scam. Am selling a car, received a call from an interested party. They requested I get the report and they would purchase the car. I replied if interested I would give them the VIN and they can pay for it themselves. I received excuse after excuse, they were an EMT and driving unable to..... I convinced myself that the report may not be a bad thing to have and might help me sell the car anyway. I paid for the report and to my amazement the report was in my inbox in less than 30 seconds. Automated reply not doubt. It was like magic. I then emailed my customer the report who also magically disappeared. Lot's of magic going on here. Magically I was out $40 bucks CDN.....with a report for others to laugh at if shown.... Magically about 2 hours after I was beginning to accept the fact that I had been fooled I get another text from another potential buyer showing interest. Once again after a few texts back and forth I was asked for a report this time form expresshistory.com WOW!!!! like magic. There must have a client list of the suckers that paid that they sell out!!!!. Didn't take long for my # to get around. I told the new potential buyer that I had a report form autoreportslab.com and their response was the report was inaccurate and the only trustworthy one that he would accept was expresshistory.com Now that is magic..... Anyway my point to everyone is if someone is interested in a car you are selling you can give them the details and if the want further research or reports they can pay for it themselves.

Step by step, as you George, I was contacted by text by someone using an out of province (343-520-1544 cell?) number. Interested in the car, "I'll meet you tomorrow at 2PM. Wants to know my name (first name only) And...oh by the way, could you send me the car report please...?". I thought, yeah maybe this is what is expected in this new on-line car buying/selling world. So I bought the Auto Reports Lab report and sent it via text message. He could not open it (it was a pdf...). Had to send it by e-mail. Next day, he declined to meet me. Made an excuse about going to work and re-booked to meet the coming Monday at 2PM. Monday, I reached out... "Sorry, had to go to New Mexico for a family emergency...". A few days later I put the car on a new site. Bingo, an hour later another out-of-province caller (289-203-1014) is interested. Almost word for word it is the same script.... "We'll meet tomorrow at 2PM. Oh... by the way can you send me the car report. What is your name? Send me the report by Vehicle Verification dot com" I sent him the Auto Report Lab report. He could not open it (as a pdf...again). When he got it opened, he freaked out as it wasn't the requested Vehicle Verification report, lol. I told him to use the VIN and pay for his own report. He then quickly fired-off multiple abusive texts, calling me a liar, wasting his time (all 5 minutes of it, lol), saying Auto Reports was a scam.... etc. It was quite funny. I sent him several nonsense GIFs and copy and pasted a warning regarding on-line scams... Never heard a word from him afterwards. The first guy I asked how were things going in New Mexico, would he like to connect when he returns and told him I lowered the price. No reply. Just got off the phone with credit card people. They will dispute the charge, refund me my $ and we placed a block on the card

I did not fall for the fake report Person was very pushy i told him carfax is more honest and the info is vage anyway come see the car and i am not entering my credit card into some scam site thats not even canadian.
I had a similar experience. Someone called me posing as a buying and wanted a report from this site. I have not sold a car in a long time so I thought it was similar like carfax but I did not do my homework first. I feel for it and then the buyer disappeared. Total scam. I have reported to FTC and others should to. I will be disputing with my CC company and cancelling our card. It is so easy for these criminals to put up fake sites and accept credit cards nowadays.
I just received a text from an alleged potential buyer for my wife's van. The texter seemed very keen to purchase the van, the only condition being that I purchase a "vehicle history" from "Autoreportslab.com." I am advertising the van on Autotrader and have already provided a Carfax link to the vehicle's history on my ad. I told the potential buyer they can view the vehicle's history through the Carfax link provided on my ad. The "buyer" replied this is not good enough, they only trust "autoreportslab.com." This made me suspicious. I tried to call the texter's phone number. No surprise, no answer. I looked over "Autoreportslab.com." Multiple spelling errors that tell me the web designer is not a professional and English is not their first language. This site is definitely a scam. Stay away!
YES, IT IS A SCAM!! I experienced the whole process yesterday, just like how the other people described. I reported fraud and canceled my credit card this morning, but just not sure if the $ could be refunded to me or not (MasterCard said they have to open a claim file and go from there). The interesting thing is, this potential buyer still texted me about coming to view my vehicle next week, so I'm not sure what other tricks he is going to play. For information: I advertised my car for sale on Autotrader, and the report the person asked me to purchase is via autoreportslab.com. It was US$28.81, converted to around CD$39. I hope this helps other people to be more alert.
I just tried selling my quad and the buyer insists on using Autoreportslab.com. The area code is 913 - nowhere close to where I live and he said he needs the report as he sold his personal vehicle and cant come for the viewing and needs the report to verify the deal. There is literally bot responses to my email. I blocked him.
I played him all day, I'm retired (or maybe retar*ed)! My ad was on Kijiji. I contacted them and asked them if they can put a scammer warning up on this issue. Let's see if they will help the consumers they target they advertising to.
This website is definitely a scam! They contacted me with a 913 area code, similar to other sellers. They INSISTed for me to only use Autoreportslab. They began to become pushy, constantly texting me saying that "I wasn't understanding". I did my research and thank goodness I found this website. I told them I would only use CarFax and just ended up blocking them. Their website is laughable, the address they provide on their website is to someones residential home. LOL.
Jan. 13-2022 Autolabsreport scam: Definitely scammers, same MO as many comments below. Caller from Alberta area code #780-809-6979, (working as EMT) in Parry Sound Ont. Called Telus (as number lookup showed Telus Mobility). They searched the number and was unknown. They tried the number as well, and it goes to vmail. Next I went to the Parry Sound EMT website, and contacted the administrater, and no such person works for them. I texted the scammer back, who wanted my email address, which I did not provide, and he then said be was with the Fire Rescue side, which I then searched and not an employee. As he said he was working a 24 hr shift he could not call, or refused to Duo, but could send a mirid of texts. If you know Parry Sound, if its not snowing this time of year nothing is happening, and with a population of 5000 you aren't that busy! Later when I would not buy the report (selling an Argo, no VIN reports on these), he starting texting from his "sisters" phone, (South Carolina number 843-306-8944). Again cannot call in to this number, and very persistent on getting the report. If you cannot call and talk to the person, or better if they will not do a Duo type call, don't trust them. As usual, grammar and spelling is not very good in theses texts, (mine is isn't either sometimes with autoUNcorrect!).
Scam. The potential "buyer" will dissppear after you buy the report. I advise you provide the VIN to anyone wanting the report. If they are serious, they will purchase the report themselves. You can offer to knock the price of the report off of the sale price.
Don't buy the report its a scam, buyer texted me after my ad was posted on AutoTrader.ca from +587-415-1814 # and said to send me ARL report. When I checked the sample report it clearly indicated they work in US, I messaged him saying I am selling on Canadain land will do CarFax only. Guy then said you are not serious, I asked him to buy it himself and I will knock the price off by $100 no response. Pretended to be an EMT who works 12hrs shift but can't take my call, I have a friend who is an EMT who works around the area asked her if they are allowed to take calls and she clearly indicated they can absolutely take calls.

When I asked what he meant, he sent a link to a website that supposedly generates car history reports. The website looked phoney, so I looked up the phone number and this posting came up. Boom! Thanks again!

Same as most others. I have an ad on AutoTrader and Craigslist and got the same story. I told “Madison” to get the report themselves if they wanted it. The next response was telling me how “legit” autoreportslab is….funny, I never mentioned anything about trust or the company being legitimate. Though my suspicions do increase when a potential buyer recommends a specific company I’ve never heard of when we’ve just started a conversation… My first question now, if it comes via text from a non-local number, is: what dealership are you working with? In this case “Madison” totally avoided the question and answered: Great, so how long have you had the vehicle, etc., etc. that’s when I knew something was not quite right… Stay safe!
Autoreports lab is 100% fake & bake. I got my money back after reporting the fraudsters to Capital One credit cards. Then I axed the fraudsters to send me $350 in bitcoin for wasting my time.
This is a scam/fraud! They message you after they find your vehicle for sale and ask for a vehicle report from that site. They refuse to take a vehicle report from any other company or service Canada. They will keep pushing for you to sign up through that website.
I received a text from “Smith” from (385) 220-1267 saying he was interested in my truck and just needed an ARL report. Like a trusting idiot I bought the report. He said he couldn't open the PDF from the text message and could I email it to [email protected], which I did. I have now blocked my credit card for fraud and have to go down and get a new card with a new number. To say I am PO'd is an understatement. Unfortunately I have probably also given my email address to some spammers list as well by doing this.

The scam is manifest by the scammer insisting the individual selling their automobile purchase the report through the listed website. Once the report is purchased and provided the scammer goes dark, likely with some or all of the $25. The autoreportslab.com webpage complaint form appears to be set up to crash disallowing its use. The complaint phone number (+1 (703) 537-5033) is shared by the following websites which to me indicates they are scam sites as well; AuditOnWheels.com reportsexpert.com ReportsHQ.com AutoReportsLab.com
Yes it\'s a scam. Same thing happened to me today but with a website called AutoTrustScan. Was naive enough to trust \"Nick\". Immediately ghosted me after I sent him the report. I\'m reporting this to the Fraud service of the government.
