Athleta products are fine but their customer service and the shipping company they contract with ontrac is the worst. Why should I pay for items when the shipping company Athleta works with didn’t do their job? I have used my Athleta Barclays credit card for many years. I am stuck paying $300 for items I never received. Athleta denied my claim. Ontrac said my package was delivered amazingly the same day I filed the claim after sitting at their facility for three weeks. They say it was delivered at 11:30 at night. It was not delivered. Canceling my card and NEVER shopping athleta, banana republic and gap. Buyer beware!!!!
Like many reviews here, I was a frequent buyer from Athleta for myself and kids. My order was missing an item that Athleta claimed was shipped in the package. I filed a claim, it was denied. I called CS, they told me to file a claim with my bank (WTAF?). I contacted CS two more times through the chat feature and the online feedback "survey". They continue to refuse to refund the money and tell me to file a dispute with my bank for the item never sent. I am done buying from Athleta. I've lost too much time and money over their mistake. There are plenty of other stores offering the same or better quality clothing at the same price point.
I ordered a pair of fleece lined leggings. As soon as I pressed "submit order" I realized I had mistakenly shipped the order to an address at which I no longer reside. Immediately I made an effort to correct this. According to the order confirmation, I would be able to make edits to an existing order. Easy. I selected that option and was able to review my order by not edit it as suggested. I created an account and still no luck. When I finally called customer service, I was told that "only the customer can make edits" confused, I confirmed I was in fact the customer and to this was told there is no way to change the shipping address. Inputting the incorrect shipping address isn't exactly a unique mistake. I would think a well-known company like Athleta should be able to help customers with simple tasks.
My friend bought me a pair of cute Athleta pants. They were a size too small, so I went in to the Mall of America store to exchange. One employee helped me and she said they don’t carry that color but they could exchange them in store and ship the right size to my house. I agreed this would be fine. She handed me off to a newer employee at the register, who used my GIFT receipt to exchange the order and credited my friends card (who was not with me and lives out of town). They could not charge her for the new pants without her card present, and they could no longer give me the pants because they were now returned. So the only thing they could do was charge me for the pants, otherwise I was out of luck and basically just gave them my birthday gift. Apparently there is no way for them to undo THEIR mistake. I have recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma and my friend put a lot of thought into finding something that was soft and comfortable for me to wear and I didn’t want her to think I didn’t like her gift so I ended up buying the pants. However I will NEVER shop there again.
This company will not make a price adjustment, even when the item goes on sale the next day, if it’s final sale. Meanwhile, I don’t even have the item yet. Sounds like a policy that will piss off customers. The poor customer service seems unique to Athleta because I always have great customer service with Gap and Old Navy and they never have any problems with making price adjustments.
I spent $514 on 11 items in the mail and they sent me TWO items and then said they wont replace or refund my order because I started a claim to fix my order before 72 hours after my package my was delivered they want u wait three days before submitting any issues.really rude careless and unprofessional So they kept my $514 and all I get is two items , one of which isn’t even something I ordered
Athleta has the strictest policy on price adjustments of all clothing stores I purchase from. I bought 2 dresses that dropped in price 30% since I purchased them. I called today assuming they'd provide a refund but was told that since the date of order was two weeks ago there would be no price adjustment. Most quality clothing stores allow a month - and often from date of delivery. One of the dresses hasn't even been received yet due to back order!
Terrible company where the only possible way to get a refund is to wait 72 hours and submit a claim. My claim was auto-denied after they sent my order to the wrong address and now I'm out $100. How can it actually be a company policy to tell customers to file a dispute with their bank? I will never be buying from them again.
Staff in the Athleta store in the Market Fair Mall, Princeton NJ were not friendly at all. Nobody greeted me when I entered into the store. When was the time to check out, the female cashier left me in the middle of checking out and serving another customer. I thought that was not professional.
Athleta has a significant problem with delivering items ordered . Based on my orders with them, they have succeeded in delivering the items only 50% of the time. Then, you have to wait 8 days from when the item supposedly shipped to then file aClaim and wait another 72 hours to get your money back. My repeated experience is that the order “ships” but is never picked up by the delivery company. The same thing has happened with 50% of my orders. Customer service, when called about the issue(s), are robotic and cut you off quickly. I’m done and will never order from them again as can’t be sure I’ll get the items and if I don’t get them, their process for addressing is inconvenient placing way too much on the customer. They don’t care.
Athleta has prices higher than many other brands but I find their styles and general quality to be good. I bought, kept and returned many things from Athleta the past 5 years and haven't experienced any customer service or return/shipping issues. The website is also easy to browse and the sizing seems close to their chart.

I ordered an item that was never delivered. Unable to fill in a claim for a missing item because the delivery date is always set a few days in the future. Had contact with 4 different agents via the chat feature: all told me I have to phone customer service to resolve. I do not want to use the phone and it is discrimination to have this as the only way of resolving problems. The 3rd agent I contaced told me they had filled in a missing item claim on my behalf. Weeks later, no email confirmation of the claim or evidence for it on my account. Therefore contacted a 4th agent, who told me they are unable to help because it's now outside the 90 day period, and I should file a chargeback with my bank instead..what a ridiculous system! I had contact 3 times within the 90 days. I will NEVER shop at athleta again (and I was a prolific buyer, made it to the highest tier of their reward system). This missing item was $25..I would have re purchased it if they would have refunded me for the missing one...I can't believe they make it so difficult for the sake of $25 and are instead willing to lose a customer who spent thousands on athleta apparel...
This really isn’t a store experience, just something I have noticed..,They have gone so woke, it’s just annoying because it’s not reality. Every catalog has mostly people of color and their stores are staffed with predominantly people of color. Now I wouldn’t normally care if they had done this all along, nor if they truly represented the population, but it’s just so damned obvious! It was not like this two years ago. I truly hate that they are pushing an agenda rather than selling clothing.
I purchased a tank top at the Mission Viejo CA location. Wanted to exchange it and was over the 30 day return/exchange deadline. I understand the policy has a time frame. But I wasn’t interested in getting my money back, just getting a smaller size, which the same color and smaller size was sitting ON THE RACK! My item still had tags on and in brand new condition. Again, I wasn’t looking to get my money back, just get the right size, which was hanging right there on the rack! AND I had three other items I was looking to buy, so they were also turning away additional business! Manager said they couldn’t help me. UNBELIEVABLE! I have never heard of such a rigid, anti-customer policy! Thanks to this experience, I will never shop at Athleta or any other Gap brand and will tell everyone of this horrible experience!!
I purchased 2 bathing suit tops that appear to be defective. The elastic around it has started to wrinkle on both after wearing it twice. I went into the store in attempt to get help with the issue and they are not willing to refund or exchange them despite having my receipt.
I'm pretty sure this brand won't last long. Their policy is really stupid. I bought a product which was on "sale" at a store 2 days ago, cost $54.97. And it was final sale. When a customer hears it's a final sale you expect that's the lowest price it could be. Then I just realized online price was only 34.97. So I called the customer service for the price match. They said because it's final sale, I cant get an adjustment. Stupid, stupid, stupid. So every time I wanna buy somethint from here, i have to check online price as well? I totally lost the trust with them. And I feel I'm fooled. From any other brands, I've seen stores sell products cheaper than online but never seen a store selling products way more expensive than online. I won't buy from this brand anymore.
I spend thousands of dollars at Athleta between my two daughters and myself. I recently took a shirt back and they would not accept it because it was 48 hours over the 30 day return date. I didn't even know the return policy changed. 30 days is just not enough for a working mom!
Extremely disappointed in their return policy and customer service. Stuck with a full priced, never worn item. Can't return or exchange or get store credit. They said I could try to sell on thredup. Not helpful. Won't be buying any more athleta.

“Never shopping at Athleta again”
I have been shopping at Athleta for years. They always had an excellent return policy, even if a garment got damaged. No longer. You get 30 days to return or exchange an item, even for store credit. If you buy on line and want to exchange in the store, the item has to be returned and then purchase what you want. So if you got in on sale on line and you need a different size, you lose the sale price. I will never shop here again. They have lost a good customer.

I ordered items in October. My items kept saying "shipping label created, shipping soon" for months. In January, it was finally changed to "shipment cancelled." I called and they can confirm they see the shipping and tracking number was cancelled/ never sent, but they cannot issue me a refund because it has been more than 90 days. “Poor quality of backpack”
I purchased a backpack for my daughter and within 3 months there were holes in the water bottle holders. The item would not be refunded or replaced and there was no acknowledgment of the poor quality of this item. I will not be buying any further items from this company as the competitors have a much better quality and is in fact cheaper!

I have had a very positive experience with orders from Athleta. The items are always as described and of good quality. Customer service personnel are always pleasant, and accommodating. “Poor online customer service”
I had to change 2 sizes on an online order a few hours after making the initial purchase. I had to speak to 3 different representatives who were all very friendly, unfortunately gave me false information each time (this was why I had to keep calling back). In the last phone call, I was told I would be sent a coupon in my email for my troubles to be disappointed again. They seem like they will tell you anything to get you off the phone. Needed an e-gift card to be sent that day. Ordered, paid and now for 36 hours it has said ‘processing order'. Every other e-gift card o have ever purchased has been sent within the hour. “You won't get a refund and they put you off”
Don't EVER order anything from this company! Two months ago I placed an order with them. They shipped the wrong items. They required us to ship them back which we did and we even have a confirmation from them that they got it. BUT no refund was given to us. I've spent weeks trying to get them to give us back the money and they just never respond. Go online to their chat and after 45 minutes they'll tell you they will have someone get back to you. But of course they don't. They will just steal your money! "we will get back to you" is what they say but won't give you an email address so you can send your proof. It's a lot easier to say they don't have a record of the return, when it isn't staring them in the face. This is how they treat their recurring customers. Every error was theirs. “Athleta checks your credit report before fulfilling your order”
Now you can't even order clothing online without a credit check. See for yourself: Create an online order and provide a phone number that does not appear on your credit report. Your credit card will be charged (and show as pending). Then, exactly 24 hours later, you will receive a cancellation email with instructions to contact their "research" department (with charges removed). I don't like to keep my email and phone number (typical account recovery information) in the same database if it is not necessary, but companies that don't need it are insisting on aggregating it. If my billing and shipping address match, why the extra collection of data stored in, and verified by, credit databases?
“I like their clothes... But...”
I've been buying and wearing Athleta clothes for a long time. But! My latest purchase, they sent it to the wrong address. It was an old address of mine that I guess they had on file. Even though I paid via PayPal, they didn't use the correct address that I have on file there. I can understand this was a glitch that maybe could not be fixed. But when I went on their online chat to ask if anything could be done (other than hoping for the random recipient to send back the unexpected gift that they received), when I provided the correct address, the customer service person said "That is not valid". Yeah. She actually accused me of lying about my correct address. And made no attempt whatsoever to find any solution. This is my second time receiving dirty merchandise from athleta. The shorts I ordered were just thrown into the bag with no plastic wrap. All customers service could offer me was 10% off. And of course they are sold out. Told them I was canceling my account and they didn't care, very very upset
“You are only as good as your weakest link”
Started shopping at Athleta because of their credit card promos. What a NIghtmare! No matter how much I like the clothes it is not worth the aggravation to get and use the rewards. I spoke to cust. Service MANY times, they always referred it to the credit card company. Went in store for help. The very kind manager there tried for almost an hr to remedy. She was so frustrated that she could do nothing she was calling her area manager. Still at mercy of credit card. In my mall, there is a lucy, Lululemon and Fabletics. Sorry Athleta but if I earn my rewards but can't use them-I'm shopping elsewhere.
“Making it hard to do returns”
I bought some pants online from Athleta. They were too short (a common problem for me). Figuring out how to return them (no invoice in the package or instructions in the email) took an insanely long amount of time. I finally called their customer service (haha) number and spoke to a nice woman with a Spanish accent. She told me I'd get my money back in ~5 days if I took the package to Staples (that's an office supply company, which makes no sense.) I said I'd stick with taking it to UPS (an actual parcel service company). She told me it will take ~15 days for my refund to process if I use UPS. Everytime I go into Marketfair Athleta store, I feel uncomfortable, as if I'm being watched, the only black in the store, and im the only one being helped, each time. They constantly lie about everything. Regular shipping is 5-7 days and it never ships in that time and they lie non-stop to explain why. It is always the shipper's problem or say it did ship it just isn't tracking. Oh and the post office lost my order and their customer service told me it was my job to track it down. “REFUNDS”
I like the product and the girls in the store were nice. That being said, I had to make a couple of returns to two different cards and it takes FOREVER to get a refund. This is not acceptable to me in a time when everything is computerized and super fast. Love the quality of the clothes... always bought from the store before pandemic. Just tried online and I must say I'm a little disappointed. “Online packaging horrible!”
Recently I purchased an item that was sent to me with a hole in it. I returned it to the store and ordered another one online. Both packages were ridiculously sloppy. The item was a $79 woman's top that was thrown in a bag both times with no care or consideration at all. I have to iron this in order to give it as a gift. This item was full price, no discount had been offered during the time I ordered it. But even if there was, this is inexcusable. Missed opportunity to impress! With so many customers shopping online this holiday season, why wouldn't Athleta package their items with quality and class?! Never ordering online from this site again!

They are great with filing orders and handling returns. You have to print the return label off their website. I was having trouble printing the label and the customer service rep sent the label to my email address. She stayed on the phone with me until it appeared in my mail box.

“Love Athleta - hate their credit card service”
Once I discovered Athleta, I bought about half of my clothes from them. Dresses, shorts, sweaters, sweatshirts, skirts, socks, everything! The designs, the fabrics, quality, etc. all met my expectations. I don't like paying full price for anything but I would for Athleta just to make sure I got items that I liked. I had a Gap charge card forever, probably 14, 15, 16 or maybe more years. So, when I started shopping at Athleta, I just used my Gap card. A few months ago, an Athleta associate talked me into opening Athleta's. Meanwhile, I closed my Gap card since I could use my Athleta card at Gap. BIG mistake. First, I returned some items that I had purchased with "rewards" and was told by the store that I would get that credited on my statement. Five months later, no such credit. That was $45. I pay all of my bills as soon as they arrive. And I don't make payments; I pay in full. Twice in four months, I've gotten a statement saying that I MISSED a payment. If I had gotten a statement, I would have paid it. Period. This could be a USPS issue, sure. But, I've not had the problem with any other bill that I've received. And, I've not gotten my $45 rewards credit and, so, I cancelled this card. Now I don't have a Gap card or an Athleta card. Maybe it's time to find a new store. Ugh, so disappointed.
“Decent leggings but overpriced”
I do like some of the running pants, but it's overpriced in my opinion. Go to Ross or TJ Max for your workout clothes. Same quality products for A LOT less money.
