Is abbeytravel.ie Legit?

I have been dealing with Kathryn McCarthy in Abbey Travel for a few years. In my travel experience she is so clued in to her business, she is so thorough and covers all the bases. A very professional person to deal with as well as being very personable. She recalls my grandchildren an asks about them even with a 6 or 9 month gap in our communications. This type of service is why I keep coming back. I would highly recommend Abbey Travel

Marc made the whole thing simple and was able to cater for all our needs. As My wife is a wheelchair user we required slightly different things. Our agent was very helpful, answered all our questions. Gave us details about documentation necessary before traveling. Re passport in date, travel insurance, and visas required. She was also available to talk to us when we phoned with further queries.

We used Abbey travel to book our honeymoon, Sarah made everything simple for us. All we had to do was enjoy the trip of a lifetime. We went on a safari and beach holiday and the accommodation at both destinations were second to none, Sarah knocked it out of the park with both. While we were away we had a flight cancelled (fault of the airline) and Sarah was straight on the case to figure out what was happening with the airline so it's safe to say the after sales care is also 5 star.

My mother was traveling alone after death on partner which was very nerve racking as this was 1st time for her doing anything like this on her own. So she decided to book through travel agent to make sure everything was prefect. First problem they forwarded the incorrect email to check into her Ryanair flight which was on a Sunday, as the offices where closed they said calls would be charged at €5 per minute on doing that there was another automated message saying it was going to be €50 per minute. Who in an emergency could afford this cost? Luckily Ryanair assisted my mam at no extra cost. 2nd problem the shuttle bus dropped my mother in the centre of the town at 10 o'clock at night with no direction on how to her accommodation. She could not find, so went into local bar and asked for help, luckily there are still some kind people left in the world they found her accommodation, but reception was closed and no key left for her. But for her return flight, she will have to walk on her own and stand on her on at 4.30am for shuttle, which is a concern as a women on her own. Abbey travels response was she can get a taxi (Over €200). I had texted accommodation that day to ask for instructions of keys be no reply was given. The local pub owner called all the number for the accommodation phone list and all phone numbers where invalid, so again where left in limbo. The Pub owner googled where there main office was a drove her there which was a 15 minute drive. On getting a reply from Abbey Travel they seemed very blunt and had no empathy on the situation. I would never use or recommend Abbey Travel ever again. They have said the have emailed accommodation and transport. But gave no solutions, I just found the service really bad. I would have been better organising the holiday myself and not giving them their commission for making the whole trip a mess & upsetting my mother and myself.

Just back from our wonderful family holiday to Tenerife. Booked with Toni from the Middle Abbey Street branch Dublin and from start to finish I must say that Toni was amazing to deal with. She's very efficient, ensures to answer all your queries in a timely manner and is so knowledgeable. Thanks Toni

I booked my family holiday to America with Jacynta in Abbey Travel Swords branch and everything was handled perfectly throughout. Jacynta was very helpful when I first called with my enquiry and she tailor made a holiday to suit my families needs to North and South Carolina. The hotels and car hire Jacynta booked for us were perfect and ideal for a family road trip. Payment options were brilliant which allowed me pay a small deposit last year and then final payment was not due till 8 weeks before departure. It was reassuring to book with a reputable travel company that I knew my travel plans were in safe hands and I could contact Jacynta quickly if I needed to make any changes. Kate in Abbey Travel Killarney supported me with a Group Booking recently, from beginning to end Kate was excellent, I could have not organised this without her guidance and support. It was an ever changing landscape, Kate remained patient, friendly and proactive throughout the process. The trip for the group was seamless thanks to Kate.

Dealt with Amy and I have to day she was amazing. We were unsure of what we wanted and Amy guided me through. Excellent service and very professional.

I've just booked our Orlando 2025 trip with Michelle. We got a much better deal than we seen on other "irish" travel websites. Michelle was very informative and friendly, I would he happy to deal with Abbey travel and preferably Michelle again.

I recent booked a cruise carribean cruise along with 6 of my friends - our consultant was Amy was amazing from our first enquiry to boarding the ship! This was our first cruise and our group was aged between 21-30, Amy helped to tailor our experience to suit us and took all the hassle out of a dream holiday! Couldn’t recommend enough!

Many thanks to Corie,Jacynta and other staff at Abbey Travel .Swords.We had a wonerful once in a lifetime trip to Australia to see our son and baby grandson and partner who we had not seen in six years.Corie was very patient with us as we are not used to this travel experience, she organised everything ,we kept changing flights and dates until we got it right. If she hadnt have helped us the way she did i dont think we would have made the trip. We highly recommend Abbey Travel and all their wonderful staff. We were trying to book a holiday with Abbey travel. We requested a call back to book a holiday but the agent didn't ring back until very late in the evening and they were very pushy to get us off the call as they kept saying they were working back so late and didn't seem to go through the booking of it. They promised they would ring back first thing the next day and didn't. When we did get through the cost had doubled and meant we couldn't afford it at the higher cost. Ruined our holiday booking!

Have delt with Jennifer in the Killarney branch for the last eight years .Walked in off the street one day while down in Killarney .We were met with a smile and made feel welcome right ,away and had our first holiday booked in five minutes with Jennifer. Nothing is any trouble and will search ones holiday to get the very best value The customer always comes first .Wouldnt dream of going anywhere else

I booked some tickets for an Athletico Madrid vs Barcelona La Liga soccer game via Abbey Travel Sports Department. I was dealing with Paul Nolan who was so sound to deal with, we received the tickets via email a week in advance and they were in such a great location in the stadium. We have booked some rugby trips with Abbey Travel before and all have gone just as well as this soccer trip. Abbey Travel obvsiously have access to great contacts for tickets! Thanks again Paul!

We booked a 6 week trip to Australia,including short stop-off's in Thailand (outward) and Vietnam (return).My initial 'Inquiry' was with Abbey Travel in Dublin.I was quite apprehensive about undertaking a daunting 'Lifetime Trip'to the other side of the world !My anxieties all melted away when I got chatting to Kathryn Mc Carthy,who quickly put me at ease with her Professionalism and knowledge, but more importantly, genuine interest in the customer's needsI knew I had hit the 'Jackpot' with Kathryn...and subsequent meetings/planning/bookings...all culminated in a 'problem-free' Trip of a Lifetime !We cannot thank her enough for her kindness,patience,wise suggestions,meticulous organisation...and always being there for us !Many AppreciationsPat, Mary & James Cronin.

I made an online enquiry through the website in January 2024 about a package deal to Monza.I had an instant quote by email and I wanted to make some additions.I contacted the office and got speaking to Warren Devlin.Warren gave me a list of 4* hotels and made a personal recommendation. I extended the break to 7nights and I added a grandstand.When I was happy with everything I paid the required deposit and made monthly payments up to June 2024. I also contacted Warren after this to add travel insurance. An additional invoice was promptly issued and again I paid through the portal.As promised, our tickets and hotel confirmation were emailed within 28days of our travel date.I booked my own flights in January with Aer Lingus. This suited me as I wanted a morning flight out and night flight home.When we arrived in Milan it was 11:20am and our hotel was less than one hour by public transport from Linate airport (it turns out you aren't supposed to bring luggage on public transport in Milan but no one said anything to us).We stayed in Hotel Vittoria and while it had randomly mixed reviews on Trip Advisor we were delighted to arrive at the reception to be told our room was available. As in a lot of cases with 4* hotels in European cities they do not compare to Irish 4* hotels and I had been prepared for the small room. And we did not need a gym or pool.The room was meticulously cleaned every day by the cleaners and had air con.The breakfast was a bit odd and limited to sweet things but again I learned breakfast isn't a big thing in Milan and a lot of mornings we just headed out and grabbed something en route so I can't fairly comment.The staff were always friendly on reception.The location of our hotel was superb. For getting to Monza we were an 11min walk from the Metro to Garibaldi Station where we got the train we wanted.At the top of our street we had a choice of tram or bus to the centre which took 20mins tops.The public transport in Milan is brilliant and we bought a Carnet each of travel zone tickets which allowed us travel on all modes of public transport within an allocated time. Single travel is €2.20.There was also an inexpensive supermarket and a McDonald's on our street as well as a few restaurants and a tapas bar. Thankfully we didn't have to rely on McDonald's but it was nice to have the backup.Most importantly, we felt very safe walking to and from our hotel.For reference, the hotel was 20mins by taxi to Milan Centrale Station. From there we got the express train to Malpensa airport for our flight home. The train journey was just under 2hours.The tickets for the F1 were exactly what I ordered and were mid tier level. The views were excellent.With this in mind we have already made enquiries for our 2025 trip.Huge thanks to Warren and Abbey Travel for a fabulous trip.
