Our readers have reported the Capella BioScience scam. If you have received an email from Steve Holmes at [email protected], be careful. Capella BioScience is a real company, and Holmes is the real CEO, but it seems like their database was hacked.

One variation of the Capella BioScience scam is a fake invoice from the company's CEO, asking for $240. The message looks very realistic, but rest assured, it is just a scam. Here is a screenshot of the email sent from [email protected]:

Steve Holmes, Capella BioScience's CEO, did not send you this email. Scammers did. So the best way to avoid this scam is to ignore it. Criminals hack popular websites and databases and then send messages impersonating real people. This way, when recipients type in Google terms like “Steve Holmes Capella BioScience,” a real page would come up.

Little do they know that the email call-to-action would take them to a fraudulent page that asks for their personal data, including the credit card numbers.
