Is Facebook Closing Accounts For Swearing?
In a similar way to the Facebook Copyright Protection or the Facebook Privacy Notice, a new wave of shares these days is promoting a No Swearing Campaign. The hoax was initiated a couple of days ago. Here is how it works.
You might have seen your friends on Facebook sharing like crazy a note from non-other than Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of the world’s biggest social media platform. The announcement says:
“As of April 1, 2018, we at Facebook will be launching a No Swearing campaign. Anyone caught using profanity after this day will have their account suspended pending investigation. This is due to the new laws issued by our legal department (section 182 paragraph 34b), new advertisers petitioned for a ‘cleaner’ family-friendly social-network.
If a user continues to use profanity their account will be shut down and a permanent ban will be placed into effect immediately.”
This note is just a hoax meant to get shares and have people freak out about their account being eventually suspended. Facebook blocks posts or users that are reported anyway, without making announcements.
Not to mention that Facebook cannot “issue laws”, that’s the Government’s job. Oh, and look at the image above for the last word of the note: immediately is spelled correctly with one ‘y’, not two.
If you are bothered by someone using profanity on Facebook you can definitely block them. And if you are the one using it, shame on you.
