avg.com Review

The Scam Detector website Validator gives avg.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 90.9. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 90.9 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to avg.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning avg.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between avg.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of avg.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of avg.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. avg.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether avg.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether avg.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, avg.com.

Well, I am grateful for their work keeping me safe and they are top rated in my books, but they advertise too much which is annoying with selling more on my pop ups!
I was recently switched to Windows 11, and now I don't get my notices or how to update my Avg account, or apps that you usually send me. I see no reason for it to not arrive, I do get your mail but lost other small apps and I should by all reasoning get yours. How can I get it back to normal? I want to clear junk, cookies and beef my system, I would like to see it on my screen, can you help.
I had AVG 2 years ago but decided to try another product to see the difference, no comparison, AVG came out way ahead. Internet security, VPN, updates, system clean up, its all there and its reliable and does its job. As well, as you the owner, able to decide what you want to clean, delete or update.
I've been using AVG for many years now. I will never change platforms. I feel safe with AVG. Since I've been using the software, I have NEVER had a problem. AVG is constantly updating their software, Staying steps ahead of malware and potential hackers. The cleaner feature keeps my machine always running smoothly. I trust AVG 100% and will continue with their service as long as I own a computer.
so easy to set up and use, Great protection from the free product as well as the paid for products. Something for all users, all abilities, both families and individuals . So easy to use, set and forget.
Safety you can trustHave used AVG for several years now and have not had a bad experience. The program saved my computer from a very bad virus which would have been horrible since I use my computer for work. The other thing I like are the helpful tips about growing scams and other threats. Definitely a program that I'm really happy with.
The constant pop ups trying to sell another service are really annoying and you can't just get ride of them by the x. I am about ready to get rid anything avg to get rid of the intrusive advertisements. Letting me know you have a product is one thing but all-day day after day is another thing. It is disturbing. I pay good money for your service. What you do is disturbing mean and greedy!
This version of AVG protects well but I immediately noticed that mylaptops performance was slower sites take signifiganly longer to load. I had to remove the VPN completely to get back to a acceptable response time. Recomend the basic package but do not use their VPN or Browser.
too intrusive & constantly interrupting my work.front end on tune up seems to have changed & difficult to see where to go. not necessary for vpn to update every 2 weeks, I want all the bits of avg just to get on with it in the background, I can look at avg WHEN I WISH TO. I keep getting ads for antitrack when I already have paid for it. sometimes the tune up screen won't close by clicking the X
Have been utilizing AVG Technologies, for quite some time. Long before PC intrusions we're being discussed on a daily basis. AVG Internet Security, AVG Secure VPN, AVG AntiTrack, AVG BreachGuard, AVG TuneUp, AVG Driver Updater. AVG has provided myself and my wife security while online and keeps our computer updated and protected.
The experience has been successful so far with AVG. The next step is to upgrade the hardwares of six of the seven computers in order for all of them work with WINDOWS 11, then is to upgrade the AVG to the premium standard. Is there a plan for a group of computers? How should be an official communication with AVG (a human being, not a A.I. robot?
for some reasons I have a minimum of "checking"/protecting/preventing soft, but for now (I say "for now") I will leave with what I have.Guys, you are doing good job, just it is difficult in couple of pages/lines to express the opinion and share the experience, i also understand that if you will do survey longer, the people probably will be upset and will not fill it.But, as I said, you are doing a good. Thank you.
With AVG on your computer you can just forget about the problems that exist online knowing that AVG has you covered.
I'm using AVG for more than 15 years, the time I cannot afford to buy. A FREE version is already reliable and powerful, that's why its always my first choice for Antivirus, simple and straight forward, reliable and not eating much of hardware resources. I'm using a multiple license for personal and clients. Thank you for the wonderful promos I was able to upgrade my subscription and protection.
Since the soft were implemented safety was efficient. SOME ADDITIONAL MODULES SHOULD BE INTEGRATED INSTEAD OF BE SEPARATED (drivers update, breachguard). Even the cost a bit higher. But primary functions are there and run well. TuneUp was a first class sofware...
I was experiencing problems with my personal computer, a virus had reeked havock on my files and HDD. I then purchased the AVG app and all my issues were addressed. The virus was quarantined and removed and now I can work without any down time
This is a very powerful antivirus solution, the only solution that has fully satisfied me in the long term, and which I have tested more thoroughly to analyze its effectiveness. Compared to other providers in the market who are considered industry leaders, AVG is better. AVG deserves more than just a simple recommendation; it should be marked as a powerful solution! I have not had any issues while using AVG. As for their other products, the VPN leaves something to be desired. I would like to see an update for it to add better features, such as multi-hop or double VPN, or even a camouflage mode.Regarding the Antivirus:100% EfficiencyVery good virus detection - detects almost everything!Fast scanning whether you do a long or short one. Many features and settings.Very good online protection and anti-phishing.
-AVG's "Boot-time" scan is an excellent scan which checks the PC before it boots into windows enviroment. Thus ,it can erase threats that normal type of scans(when inside windows) might not be able to remove. Can't recommend AVG's "Boot-time" enough...superb scan for anyone who want to try avoid a PC-format.-AVG's secure browser is a very useful ,secure & stable browser ,also recommended-AVG's Tune-up can easily clean browsers and broken registry values in your PC.
I was just trying to get an animation software but it bundled with this nonsense. I gave it a chance. EVERY SINGLE TIME, AND I AM NOT EXAGGERATING, EVERY SINGLE TIME, it spams me with false reports that my computer isn't safe. It is in fact, very safe, and the only reason it shows you those is because they just want you to buy more of their BS. The only useful part is the shredding.
I have used AVG as a scanning and surfing tool for years and it has never let me down. I've used it across multiple devices and it has always been free and it has always done it's job well. I love it.

“Avg allows crypt info document folders”

Avg was good at first, but, went downhill quickly. I found that it allows anything connected to crypt info to download itself into document and download folders, eating up space and folders. This crypt crap needs to stop. I don't want it on my phone. Avg does nothing to remove the intrusive site info. Therefore, upon renewal, avg will not be getting my business. It's sickening that I pay a good amount of money, but, avg wants to nickel and dime you to death for this and that. It's rather false advertisement to me. Avg won't allow more important driver updates unless you buy into it, so, I have to find another way to keep my phones and desktop running smoothly. I miss Kaspersky. It never gave me issues and never slowed my computer down like McAfee and Norton. I tried avg and now regret it, another waste of money for a useless product. Avg, you suck.

“Unauthorized Charges”

I agreed to buy their software for 19.99 and it states for 12 month period. They did not specify that was a monthly charge. There is no way to access your account online to cancel, that should tell you something. So its only been 2 months, but I'm pissed. I did not agree to any reoccurring charges. The phone number to cancel this invasion is *******258. Stay away from these people at all cost. Products used:AVG Tuneup Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Horrible experience”

Purchased The AVG Anti-track software and the activation code did not work.I wasted one hour with a technician that has poor English language.she could not fix the issue. I asked for a refund. She transferred me to the billing and I left on hold for 15 minutes. Them I called the billing again placed on hold for 48 minutes. It is very strange because when you contact sale they respond in ONE minute or less but request refund it will take you forever. Stay Away bad experience and very poor customer service.

“Very dirty company”

They have taken $85. From my account for this PC tune up which I do not have. I contacted them and they said they would refund my money within 7 days. Now it has been more than two weeks and nothing at all. I do not recommend this business at all, they are very crooked and thieves as well as liars. Tip for consumers:I want my moneyou crooks Products used:None, they just took my money. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Pretty much useless”

I've used AVG free for some time without issue. Then I decided to pay for some of its other features. In speaking to a representative, I stupidly let her talk me into a "bundle", even though I wasn't thoroughly convinced that VPN and such were necessary. I installed the "bundle" and the problems started -- the main one being, it somehow disconnect our wireless printer. My husband spent nearly an hour on the phone with their "technician" only to be told he couldn't solve the issue and that we needed a "special technician". (It was a panic situation as I needed the printer immediately!) So, we paid their stupid $110 to speak to another person who finally solved the printer issue. Now our issue is the VPN and how it interferes with just about everything (viewing certain sites, etc.)... to the point I had to disable it in order to get anything done. I don't have any hopes of getting our money back but I certainly won't be renewing anything from AVG any time soon.

“Bank Account Robbery”

In 2023, after problems, I paid AVG $95.98 for my Internet Security & VPN. In Feb this year I received a notice that a payment of $119.99 was due in Mar. I decided to keep the Auto Payment option. On checking my bank account, AVG had taken an extra $93.99. There was no mention of this payment or reminder whatsoever from AVG, they raided my bank account without my knowledge or permission. I have discovered that the payment is for VPN. I would not have paid this amount, had I known. I have asked for a full refund of $93.99 Tip for consumers:AVG should inform their customers well in advance of the products & costs of each one. “AVG Destroyed my device!”

I installed AVG Cleaner on my tablet, and when I tried to run it, the tablet stopped working. Now it won't boot and it cannot be fixed, so I'm out $139.99. Do NOT install AVG products onto your devices! Tip for consumers:Do NOT install this onto any of your devices! Products used:AVG Cleaner Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Anti Virus failure.”

Was offered a two year subscription on a special which I purchased. After two months I was offered a renewal of my original purchase. My Anti Virus protection was removed and my hard drive was corrupted by the Ransom Virus. No satisfaction from AVG support who keeping fobbing me off with we will try to help you. But the hard drive cannot be used. I have paid for two years in November 2022 but still do not have the Anti Virus protection from AVG and I keep receiving E Mails to say "We want you back" but I have paid for two years. No refund of course. So payment made and no protection. Order No **************

“Did not give me the security coverage I paid for”

I paid for a full year's subscription for this service and the pop-ups would show up with the issues I had. When I went to click to resolve the issues the pop-up would ask for money-- another subscription. I called the company and sent them the eReceipt I had showing I paid for the coverage. They could not assure me that the system was working on my computer. I will never use AVG again. Service Value Quality

“AVG Tech support is clueless about Mac.”

This company used to be good, but now I have to spend 15 minutes running all the scans and file deletions. Used to be automatic. Now, after upgrading my Mac to Ventura 13.3, AntiTrack slows computer to a standstill, nor can it be deleted. Tech support is clueless. They never call back as promised. I had to uninstall and reinstall to get the basic program to work. Service Value Quality

“Famous for Unauthorized Charges”

I signed up for a free trial from avg. Though I was asked to leave a card during the trial, I was assured my card and profile would be deleted immediately if I decided not to join. I decided at the end of the trial to go with another antivirus company I deleted my profile myself including my card info never giving it another thought. Until I saw 2 separate charges from avg. I contacted them but the girl that apparently handles all their customer service issues absolutely refused to return the charges they made without authorization. She and I went back and forth several days asking them to return my money. She refused every single time. I then reported her to Google Pay. It took them less than 3 days to investigate and reimburse one of the charges. I contacted avg to let them know that they would only be responsible for one charge. Again she refused. She told me to ask Google Play to reimburse the other charge because avg would not pay anything. She was incredibly rude. If this is who avg has for customer service, good luck. You're going to need it.

“Rude Customer Service”

Called today due to issues with activation. The man was rude and insulting and when I asked for money back since I could not use product he said " You will not get one penny back".

“THE WHOLE COMPANY IS A SCAM”

So damn ironic that they are an antivirus company that is supposed to protect us from malicious attacks but they are the malicious attack! I have fraudulent charges on my credit card when I NEVER bought anything from AVG and when I called them, the dude screamed at me and hung up. How did they ever get my payment information I don't even know. DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS, so many better and more reliable companies out there. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFO AND ANYTHING. IT IS A WHOLE SCAM, THEY LOVE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY TO PAY THE RUDE AND INCOMPETENT CUSTOMER SERVICE JERKS. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Free trial works perfect”

Free trial works perfect and honestly, after that I haven't tried but I am more than sure it's totally cool to have the ability for such cases entirely. If you have some problems for sure post here for many other people to review them and make their own assumptions.

“Do not pay through google play”

They denied that i paid even after i sent them the order # and on top of that google play will not refund you either. AVG did nothing, so I am just out 19.00 or so. SUCKS. AVG for multiple devices is very difficult to manage. So make sure you go in and end the automatic renewal on goggle play or they will continue to bill you. Underhanded billing practice.

“Did not protect computer, then blamed me for attack and wanted $200 to fix computer”

While I had AVG protection on my computer I was attacked by hackers claiming to be Microsoft. They froze the computer and told me it would be permanently disabled if I didn't correct something that they would correct for me. I figured out that it was a scam but not before I allowed them to remotely control computer for five minutes or so. I then contacted AVG as to why I was hacked when I am paying them for protection. They told me I had let the hacker into the computer so they were not responsible. They told me it would cost me $200 for them to fix some corrupted and missing microsoft files that the hackers had created. They refused to take responsibility for allowing the hackers through in the first place. Besides this, they never stop popping up with sly ads for upgrading your service designed to look like alerts that you have a problem. If you don't respond you start having virus like problems on the computer.

“Disappointment with AVG”

There were some technical difficulties with AVG, e.g., blocking know providers, e.g., Vodafone. Most disappointing was their extremely poor record keeping. My initial introduction was from a third party supplier. I subsequently chose to leave that supplier and be charged directly. I was automatically charged twive for the same product. When asked they could not find a trace of payments, even though I provided records. I woud not trust them further than I could throw them. Tip for consumers:Be wary of their ability to track payments. Products used:AVG Internate Security, Tune Up, VPN Service Value Returns Quality

“Don't even go there”

Never admit that they are wrong. Love to take your cash and not give a care attitude! They charged me for their service for 3 years in which I didn't use it after the first one. Had to get my bank to investigate why this Scottish based company was taking my money for nothing. Couldn't get it back. AVG didn't care. Don't go for these products, they wind themselves into every program and slow everything down. Just not worth the aggravation. Tip for consumers:Don't go there Products used:anti virus Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“Avg is a ripp off”

I purchased this product as a free download and contunially got bombarded with messages stating i need to upgrade so i did since then they take money out for products i did not authorize just help themselves to my pay pal account and charge my for products i don't want then getting someone to fix problems is a joke so they give me some crap about 30 refunds and will not refund even though they can see in my account it has never been used and will not say anything about previous call and messages same complaint i just hung up phone from them and the woman literally said yes they are gonna rip me of for a lousy $50 there product is crap and caused all sorts of problems on my pc never again will i use any of their products Tip for consumers:i used another product which was so much better and the pr is great beware of this company they just want your money and dont care who they rip off in the process Products used:avg antivirus and pc tune up Service Value Shipping Returns Quality

“AVG Does Have Free Anti-Virus”

I was mistaken before. AVG Technologies does have free Anti-Virus, which scans for brower threats, viruses and malware. However, when it finds "advanced issues," that's when they want you to purchase their premium package which will resolve the "advanced issues."

“AVG used to be good... so did blackberry, another company that didn't listen to it's customers.”

AVG used to be good... so did blackberry, another company that didn't listen to it's customers. Windows 10 very nearly sank to the depths of oblivion, but later began to Listen to their customers. Comparisons yes, but as someone once said "history has the habit of repeating it's self. Remember blackberry... or motorola big players once, but not now?

“Just want money”

If your computer has any issues, ex) Your drivers need updating, or you need a VPN, or literally almost anything AVG Will pop up saying you have (Such and such issue) and if you hit resolve, you just have to buy a subscription for that particular problem.

“Fraudulent company, beware how they take your money!”

This so called business has absolutely no morals when it comes to obtaining your money. For 4 years they took money from my account without my consent & without me activating any of their software, but still they continued to take money! I have been in touch with them explaining my situation, but they have been unsympathetic when explaining the fact that I have never used the product. More fool me for not noticing the money coming out on an annual basis, but they have yet to show me any details of me placing or giving my approval for any products…how did they get my details? Funny enough on searching the internet I can see a pattern emerging for AVG on the way they obtain their money…how can they get away with it? I'm now taking legal advice on how to get my money returned. Products used:This is not about the product, because I never used it, it’s about this company obtaining my details fraudulently

“Absolutely terrible”

Avg free trial worked well. When it expired, we installed their Internet security. To our dismay, it kept reverting to the free version and told us it had expired. The new version lasted about one day before reverting. We called Avg. We were asked how many computers we have. (?) The rep tried to upsell a repair package for a computer that had no problems. He was very aggressive and would not disconnect from our computer when asked numerous times. He kept saying that this was their process. Will go back to my previous antivirus.

“AVG's Browser is Invasive”

AVG's browser is invasive, takes up over 625 Megabytes on my PC and was installed without my consent. It's similar to malware which can't be removed. I attempted to uninstall it repeatedly without much success.

There are many types of fake sites in the online world. We have some good news. Watch the video below to see the 5 effective ways you can spot a fraudulent website in 2024:

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
