westjet.com Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives westjet.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 90.4. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 90.4 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to westjet.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning westjet.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between westjet.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of westjet.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of westjet.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. westjet.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether westjet.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether westjet.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, westjet.com.

I was charged 71$ for a small bag, simply bcoz my ticket had no bag allowance. Staff was so rude, inside the plane no internet. I don't think I will ever travel with westjet again, worst customer service ever.
We fly exclusively westjet and after our last flight I will be canceling my credit card with them and finding another airline. Since they were sold they have gone downhill. We recently flew from Calgary to Cancun and had a terrible experience. It was snowing so we were delayed (not a big deal) but we sat on the tarmac for almost two hours without a word from the pilot or staff as to what was going on...then for the next 5 hours the plane was 30 degrees and despite many people complaining they were sweating, they still refused to turn the heat down...there were children and elderly people on the plane.... then we hear nothing from the captain when we land as we are again sitting on the tarmac... it was a 5 hour flight that turned into 8 hours on the plane. Brutal communication from the captain and zero care for your guests. We flew out of Calgary on WS 2010 to Cancun on November 23, 2024.
Being constructive is difficult. WestJet is a typical Canadian monopoly that loses nothing by not appreciating and properly serving customers. They don't need to when on many routes, they're the only choice. Trudeau's Gov't has continued to protect them from competition - WestJet would shudder at the thought.
WORST AIRLINE EVER!! They are the red-headed step child to Spirit and I don't even understand why they have 1.4 rating and Spirit is 1.3. I booked my flight through Kiwi and then they cancelled my connection flight to my final destination, not once, BUT TWICE already! Then, they keep pushing the other flights back several days like 3 or 4 days out of an 11 day trip! Like what the heck?!? Who does that and why?! Please, DO NOT FLY WITH THIS COMPANY EVEN IF YOU BOOK WITH THEM DIRECTLY!
Flight was cancelled at 1am before morning departure while we slept due to “crew availability” leading to sleepless night
I rated Westjet a 1 on their website only because i cannot rate it lower.Westjet's change policy is truly awful. I fully understand a reasonable charge for change but this last experience will make me bitter for a long long time.My 14 yr old son and I are going to Saskatchewan from BC to visit family and welcome a new baby to the family. My wife booked us tickets as a surprise, but booked the wrong return date (my fault). When we finally got through to a westjet agent (because we are busy people and wait times are horrendous) the change to extend our trip 2 days was $1200 each and through an agent $1000 for both. (To book new flights were $1200). I don't mind paying for change or my own mistakes but this charge is absolutely disgusting. Even though we booked early and got a good deal, the purchase price for our return ticket went up exactly the same amount (app. $600 each) as the desired return ticket (app. $600 each). I think a fair exchange rate could have been given considering this fact. I would have been ok with paying the ridiculous change fee Westjet charges now, but to be penalised for buying early seems extremely unfair. In the past I have always had loyalty to Westjet and felt that loyalty back when flying, booking and changing flights. That is gone on Westjets behalf and I can see myself looking to Air Canada in the future, or hopefully some new airline that wants a loyal customer base and can show some integrity when circumstances change for the customer. Truly disappointed in Westjet. I will also be looking for other avenues to vent my extreme frustration with Westjet.
Booked a flight from Seattle to Calgary. The flight was cancelled 24 hrs before.Since we couldn’t get in contact with them we ending up paying for bus tickets to Vancouver and expensive airline tickets from Vancouver to Calgary. We claimed a reimbursement back in July and WestJet failed to reply us before today. Rejecting our claim!Don’t fly with these guys, if you expect an airline should help you out of the troubles they caused!
Awful experience. We booked directly through the airline so we thought we would be protected, but we hadn't accounted for the fact WestJet would behave so appallingly. Our first flight was delayed because of a system failure at Edinburgh airport, so we missed our second flight. My wife and I then got put on separate flights on separate days (!!). We managed to change this so we both flew out the next day, and WestJet employees told us we would get an email with hotel booking instructions... but we didn't. We asked WestJet employees and they assured us that we just had to pay ourselves, and then we would be reimbursed, so we did.And then they didn't reimburse us! Saying because it was an *airport* problem it wasn't their fault. So we're not 400CAD out of pocket.Never again.
I have been using WestJet for the past three year and I have to say they rarely get it right. Always late or cancelled with no convenient alternatives. Customer service doesn't exist, long hours waiting on the phone with no one to speak to. I'm gobsmacked and don't even know where to start from. Avoid if you can specially they are not cheap but everything else they do is. If this airline was operating in Europe they would have gone under long ago,
just read about the Terrace couple 72 flight from Las Vegas to Terrace B.C. Westjet should pay for the $3500 Air Canada ticket
Horrible customer service! Staff is very rude and impatient. Arrived at premier check in, agent told me I had no status, told me to join the other long line up of check in. I didn't wanna argue and miss my flight, so I joined the other line and waited for more than 30 min, finally completed check in and was told I should've stayed at the premier desk because my status is Gold. This is not the first time I experienced terrible attitude from Westjet staff, they're extremely rude and unprofessional. If I had another airline choice, I would never fly Westjet again!
Would love to give a zero star. They ruined my bag on a flight last year. Instead of owning it, I've had to go to the repair store 4 times to get it fixed because each time I've gone to get Westjet's required documentation, it's never good enough for them. It's excessive and has cost me over 6 hours of my time driving back and forth to the store, all because of their negligence. I'm sure they're trying to drag things out so it's longer than the 2 year statute of limitations for suing them to get this bag fixed or replaced.
honestly i've had good experiences with westjet but on my last trip with one stop in Calgary i was misguided, ignored, not understood, tried contacting getting help and nobody could do anything, only one person was able to do something initially but didn't..why?? my planning, paying for the seat, schedule complications after arriving later at the destination when i arrived at the gate before everybody else, was quickly told I was on the right place and go have a seat, but later being told my seat was change or canceled. not good
This company is disgusting! My mother’s flight from Toronto departure for 08:00 flight #649. My mother arrived at YYZ 2 hours before her flight. Waited at custom check in for quite a bit then arrived at the gate 10mins before the cabin closed. They denied her and told her to book the next available flight—my mother who have knee problem! I was sick worried and couldn’t stop crying when she called me what WestJet employee did and told her! I am appalled, I have been a customer for years. I called to get this resolve or at least give me a proper answer. People were useless and not empathetic!Get it together WestJet!!!
Spent an hour on the phone and some lady named Lena answered told her I needed a group price for 64 people to dominican and she tells me I can't book that I need a travel agent to do that Excuse meI'm trying to spend 115 thousand dollars and she tells me I can't do that ask for a supervisor she laughed and said no
If only I could give zero for the worst experience I have ever had with WestJet, I would. I was traveling with my son to the Philippines and was on hold for 5 hours because we didn't have a visa to go to the Philippines. We have a Canadian passport, but I was born and grew up in the Philippines. Three agents denied us until I almost gave up. 20 minutes before our flight took off, I tried my last chance to the new agent who just come in, looks like he was their manager. Explained our situation and was very apologetic and unhappy about how they treated us. He said, " We are not immigration; it is not our responsibility to deny or approve a visa." Because we didn't have much time, he stamped our passports, gave us our boarding passes, and rushed to the boarding gate before it closed. I hope those agents were being dealt with accordingly. It was my son's first time to travel, and it was a nightmare. (By the way, we arrived in the Philippines immigration, and they stamped our passports for one year to stay without asking for any visa)
I received an email advertising West Jet Dollars are 25% off. I bought 300 West Jet dollars for $470 come to find out the West Dollars spend dollar for dollar. So I paid $470 for 300. Stupid me but I never imagined this is the way the transaction would unfold. It makes zero sense and almost criminal“Give us $470 and we’ll give you $300 in return.” Ripped off and I’ll never fly the airline again
My Father is 88 years old and just had a hip replacement. His mobility is limited and he tires easily. We were concerned with him navigating the Edmonton and Calgary Terminals and Security. We requested a wheelchair and assistance. The West Jet Agents went above and beyond. When asked how his trip was, I will quote my Father, "It was great, they treated me like Royalty". Awesome job West Jet. Thank yu for taking such good care of my Father.
Disgusting service and horrible employees at west jet flight from Hamilton to Vancouver my mother was treated horribly. The staff should be fired or retrained, kicking off an elderly women because she paid for a seat and was put in a random seat. Her luggage wasn’t taken off the flight with her medication inside.
Ongoing flight cancelled with no notice by WestJet. Family stranded at Calgary at 2am. WestJet ran out of hotel vouchers, no help as to where we might spend the night, no phone lines responding. Next fight offered was 3 days later! Out of pocket for hotel, meals and three flight tickets. Not a cent of compensation. Email from WestJet denying any responsibility ends, ‘We appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you on a future WestJet flight.’ Think again!

“Nope”
They canceled my flight and never rebooked me. Was stuck in another country then out $2k to get home on another airline. They also haven't refunded me for the flight they canceled. Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“My wife was stuck at airport for 14 hours”
My wife had a flight. They kept her on standby for 14 hours in the end she never got a flight nor refund to date. We will never fly again. We never received a email back either. Service Value
“Westjet - Disappointing Cancellation policy -- not even any credit offered!”
I would expect a low cost airline to have zero $0 refund policy and no credit offered, but not from an airline that tries to claim to have great customer service. I spent over $2000 on tickets to Costa Rica, and even though I'm cancelling 3 months in advance, there's no money that can be used towards future trips. Disappointing Westjet, very disappointing. Tip for consumers:clearly Air Canada is Canada's number one airline. Products used:none, because they offer $0 credit
“Horrible”
I was dropped at wrong gate and I had to walk a lot to the gate so I had a little time left. The person at check in kept me wait and took all my time for arguing over the carry on and money. She called the manager they both were rude. The manager said you are not gonna make the flight anyways!and they didn't care!they were so ignorance! I got so nervous about what would happen if I had missed my flight. I hated! Hated. Hated. They ruined my trip and I will never travel with west jet Tip for consumers:I had very bad experience with this airline Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Loat baggage”
I was flying from Toronto to Vancouver on April 6th. I haven't recevied my bag yet. It's been 12 days. If I call the customer service everyday they say me we are still finding. We don't have any update. I suggest you guys never fly with this airline. These people are irresponsible for everything. They really don't care about luggage. They are very cheap they really mean about money. WestJet deserves zero star. I am really depressed from their service. I am attached with the gifts that I got from my parents on my wedding. Those all gifts are in my suitcase. I don't wanna loose them. I am really stressed out beacuse of their cheap service.
“Lied to us and gave our seat away and then ignored me for over a month.”
Flying from Belize to Winnioeg via Toronto. While in line in Belize received an email stating that our flight from Toronto to winnipeg had been cancelled today. He attendant in Belize told us it was due to weather. Our flight was at 10 pm it was currently 11:30 an. Got to Toronto went to WestJet counter and asked what was going on. She said nothing why and I explained what happened. She told us that our flight to winnipeg had just left and we had missed it. We didnt ha e a boarding pass for that flight. They put us in a hotel for the now 4 hour wait till the 5:30 am flight to winnipeg as that is all there was apparently. I had a 14 year old that I needed to find accommodation in winnipeg for and a dog that need to be let out and fed. The attendant in Toronto said she could offer us $150 each but we should call in and get more. Since then Jan 14. I have sent 3 emails with no response what so ever. Phones once and was told to take $100 each or move on. Feb 12 today
“WestJet, Do not buy ticket from them. Terrible company and customer service.”
Purchased a WestJet ticket from PDX to YEG in June. After 5 days received an email " Important changes to your upcoming WestJet flight" indicating that i must stay one night in Minneapolis and arrive on Monday instead of Sunday. I did not accept the change and nor the WestJet Travel bank money. I had to purchase another ticket to arrive on time, about $400 more. The email clearly indicated that further information would be sent to get the full refund. I received the same email 4 times. I never got that information even after 3 weeks past the flight date. I called WestJet, after 75 minutes of wait time, and 15 minutes of discussion the agent told me you must accept the WestJet travel money and they will not refund it to the original form of payment. After my call although I had not accepted the WestJet money, they sent me an email (that can not be replied) that the credit is available as WestJet money.
“RIP OFF!”
Be careful Your cheap flight is about to become more expensive than you thought International flights should not be charging per meal let alone $20 They should also allow you to inform them of an allergy not tell you wait and see what's available I have never heard of international flights charging for the first bag either yet here we are And of course we find out after we book a non refundable ticket which is also our travel agents fault as well but non the less it shouldn't be this way in the first place On any flight, and I fly a lot, I have never had to pay to reserve a coach seat yet here I am Now I'm stuck because I refuse to give them a dime extra than I have to, I will be hungry, and seated away from my spouse because they don't have the common sense or decency to book it this way in the first place I wont ever fly with them and I would not recommend them to anyone!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIEIvi2MuEk See that video above. Creative way to do marketing. The "new" airlines in the US are all fantastic. Can't say the same about United and the other ones.
“My Westjet nightmare: Fiasco after fiasco after fiasco, with a chaser of bad employee attitude”
A sickening blend of abusive policies and staggering incompetence were on full display in my recent experience with Westjet. I checked in at Toronto Pearson on Sunday, expecting to get home to Nanaimo that evening. A stunning series of Westjet fiascoes later, I finally staggered into Nanaimo on Tuesday afternoon, sleep-deprived and wrecked. An itinerary scheduled to take 7 hours ended up taking 45 excruciating hours from my life. Forget the flight cancellation for "unscheduled maintenance." Forget the hundreds of dollars extra I had to spend because the Westjet "vouchers" were mostly unusable. Forget the queueing after midnight in Westjet's Calgary hub from hell, watching Westjet managers haplessly herding the dozens of us trapped there like zoo animals, with nothing happening for an hour. Forget the 20 or 30 minutes of sleep on a bench at 3am. Forget all that, because that was not the worst of it. The worst of it was the indifference, the "Why are you here?" and "You know, my life would be so much better if you just vapourized" manners of most of the Westjet ground employees. The one exception I encountered was a kind and helpful young woman who had only been on the job for a few days -- apparently not long enough to have her soul mangled beyond recognition. My outbound flight was on Air Canada. I'm no fan of theirs, but on this trip, the score was Air Canada 500, Westjet 0. I'll be avoiding Westjet like the plague from here on out.
“Horrible ending to our honeymoon! Will never fly WestJet ever again!”
Last July we had our wedding in my home-country in Europe and our honeymoon in the south of Portugal. Due to the turmoil that is currently going on in in the land of air travel (unacceptable, but that is for another post) we decided to book separate flights and WestJet seemed the best option for our return trip back to Seattle. If only I had read any of the reviews that were posted before... The two flights (lay-over in Calgary) were fine (really not more than that). But we left Paris with an hour delay because the captain decided to wait for one of the lavatories to be fixed (his words: it isn't a necessary measure, but nice to have). Then it turned out that we also waited for a passenger who was lost at the airport. I can appreciate the Canadian niceness, but this made a good number of passengers on board miss their connection to Seattle and having to spend the night in Calgary. This is where WestJet's **** show really started... First, finding WestJet's transfer desk at Calgary airport was an absolute nightmare. It's not located near the check-in, but on the other side of the airport... They should have made that a lot clearer when they informed us we won't make our second flight, only 20 minutes before landing in Calgary... Gee thanks, WestJet! Then the line at the desks was insane! After a more than 2 hour wait (!) the only thing the transfer agent told us was to book a hotel and we would get reimbursed. Did we have to wait more than 2 hours for that?! Really WestJet, get your act together and find a better way to communicate about this! Of course all hotels were booked by that time (8:00PM local time and the Calgary Stampede was apparently happening). With more than 200 people getting the same information, one could expect that hotels were booked by the time it was our turn... That all happened on July 9th... It is now October 4th and we still haven't gotten our expenses reimbursed, nor have we gotten any news on the status. Calling WestJet doesn't help. Tip for consumers:Do not book your flights with WestJet! Products used:Flight Service Value Quality

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
