usaa.com Review

The Scam Detector website Validator gives usaa.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 83.3. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 83.3 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to usaa.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.

Explaining Our Analytical Approach

We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:

  • Proximity to Suspicious Websites
  • Threat Profile
  • Phishing Profile
  • Malware Score
  • Spam Score
  • Domain Blacklist Status
  • HTTPS connection
  • Domain Creation Date

While some are self-explanatory concerning usaa.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.

Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites

This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between usaa.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.

Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam

These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of usaa.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of usaa.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. usaa.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.

Domain Blacklisting Status

This term indicates whether usaa.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.

Assessing HTTPS Connectivity

This section provides insight into whether usaa.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.

Safe Check

We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, usaa.com.

52 year member. At the end of the day it's all about money. (1)Had a credit cart fraud claim denied. USAA would not accept the document nor delivery from the Sheriff's Dept. Nothing left if i have to use an attorney.(2) had a hardship authorization to pay off my car loan. Missed cut off in paying by 2 days. They ordered the car to be repossessed. Enough said
"Absolutely disgusted by the way USAA has treated me!After PCS'ing from Texas to California in September 2023, I was wrongfully charged an additional $3,000 because my policy wasn’t switched over, something I didn’t even find out until a recent accident. My renters insurance with them and my PCS orders clearly show I’ve been in California the entire time, so how in the world was I charged that extra amount??I’ve been with USAA for over a decade with ZERO accidents, yet I’m treated like absolute trash when I need help the most. The customer service is atrocious. They’re quick to take your money but so reluctant to give it back when it matters – whether it’s a claim or a situation like mine.I’ll be honest, I do NOT recommend USAA to anyone, especially veterans. Listen to the warning signs, trust the reviews, and believe me when I say they overcharge and are terrible to deal with during the claims process. STAY AWAY!"
Ussa is the worst company I have ever dealt with as far as having insurance. I was suppose to receive that money they give you every year for insurance they took it and applied to the insurance I'm not keeping. That was some bull but I'm canceling everything with them and I encourage everyone to do the same with their high insurance ripping people off.
0/5 stars Attempted to get an auto loan and got approval then a one month run around with very poor customer service. Ended up financing with a new service that enjoys helping their customers. Keep in mind I have been a long time loyal customer with an excellent credit rating as well as never missing a payment. They boast about serving Veterans which is a blatant lie, not sure what has changed but I would not recommend their services to anyone.
What happened to USAA???? There not for the people anymore, I don’t know what happen but stay away from them. They raised my rate for no reason and then asks me to pay more money because my homeowner insurance went up a they never told me. THERE NOT THE CHEAPEST SO LOOK AROUND FOR BETTER RATES AND SERVICE NOT FOR AMERICANS ANYMORE
USAA Bank think they are above the law! They took my VA disability check, all the money I had and refused to return it. They were going to keep it and I had to hire an attorney to get my own money back 5 weeks later. They were going to keep it before I had an attorney. They said I didn't update my mailing address fast enough, one day notice shut down my account and kept my money. Criminals! I'm still trying to sue them!
My car has been at the collision center for exactly 1 month. Collision center says USAA is not receiving their supplement, USAA saying collision center not sending the proper information. Back and forth with untold hours I have spent on phone trying to reach someone at USAA. So much verification processes to go through before I can even leave a message. Their systems keeps saying" I didn't get that" and I have to enter same info several times. Claims person doesn't call back usually. One time I reached her person to person and she said she hasn't received the supplement. I have left message with her manager many time and he has return zero calls. This is absolutely ridiculous. Thank goodness at least I have a loan car. When this is over, I'm out of here.
If I could respond with -stars I'd do -five. The customer service on both the website and phone communications is obnoxious. They would not accept my phone query even though I supplied the correct answer for my password hint. I've had problems with their bureaucracy in every communication with them. I'm changing my insurer.
They will not cancel a fraud account under my name. This bank is nothing but fraud against the American people
USAA only wants to profit off the backs of America's hereos! I was a loyal customer for 8 years, but due to recent customer service I'm running like my hair is on fire. We had a parking lot incident where someone was ticketed for illegally parking in the paint between handicapped spots. My car dinged this car, and this entitled person filed a claim. I made it clear that I dispute this claim as this incident would not have happened had this car not been there. Everything was done online, voicemails went unreturned, and nobody would listen until I went off. Even then nobody cared. They wouldn't answer when I asked about my future premiums or rate increases that a claim will trigger. As a Veteran targeted niche business many of us live on VA fixed income, but hey as long as USAA makes a profit right! The whole experience was cold and left me thinking 8 years wasted. Sad really that they thank a Veteran but then won't support them. They lost me over a $700 door ding.
what went wrong was that my husband was basically stranded on the TURNPIKE for almost 5 hours in 30 degree weather and you STILL managed to charge his card $300 while you were on the phone and still told my husband they were on the way. YOU WILL reimburse him the 300. And YOU WILL stop scamming people that’s basically what your doing. VERY unprofessional for a towing company literally how are you gonna charge the card but not even show the hell up
Zero stars 10/10 do not recommend. Do not bank with USAA. Applied for a loan, got approved. They had an IT issue that required us to re-apply for the loan. Ran a credit check a second time. Re-applied for the loan. Did not honor the interest rate from the original loan. Put the wrong year of the vehicle in which caused for a higher interest rate. They said there’s nothing they can do about it. Gave me an interest rate that was 5% higher than the original offer. Refused to honor the original offer despite the problems being issues on their end. Kept me on the phone for hours both times. 10/10 do not recommend.
After 33 years of membership, it is time to move on. My recent auto claim experience was horrible. I was not at fault and the responsible insurance company is a large, well respected national brand. USAA has been unable to reimburse me for my expenses by subrogation so they have simply dumped the claim back in my lap. What good is auto insurance if losses are not reimbursed? USAA used to be a very fine company. Very sad experience for me. Advising my children to move on as well. USAA just lost 4 clients
Garbage company. After paying them tens of thousands of dollars in premiums over the years, they balked at covering the most basic item in our house at a time we needed themMost. Complete lack of commitment to integrity and the customer.
USAA was nice too add a $1600 charge when my daughter got her drivers license. Got insurance with State Farm at a fraction of the price. In fact, could barely tell my premium went up.
They cancelled my insurance without contacting me. Then, the final straw was arguing on the phone with a rude representative for two hours trying to figure out how in the world I missed a payment when I am using "autopay" and they literally have all my credit card info. They were awful. Reported them to management & left this company behind forever.
We use USAA for our rental property insurance. They have been a nightmare to work with. Most recently there was a change on the policy. They asked us to get an inspection and twice we set up an appointment with an inspector who never showed. Finally we got that done, and then they asked for a roofing inspection by December 6. We had to pay for that and did the inspection. Then on November 25 (well before the deadline) they told us they were cancelling the policy because we didn't get the roof inspected. (????) On the phone with USAA for 100 years trying to get that sorted out. I do think the front-line employees want to do the right thing. But if this is the way they treat us BEFORE an issue, I can only imagine what filing an actual claim would be like. The sad part is my family has literally been with USAA for 30 years or more.
DO NOT GET USAA!!!!!This company has been reported to the Federal Insurance Office thousands of times and USAA is still getting away with ripping people off without providing the alleged "Protecting our Veterans" the ones that fought for their rights too then to slap us in the face with not covering insurance claims of my car being totaled & major medical claims for an accident that was not even my fault. They then put it on my record as my fault when the man was cited for the accident and refuse to take it off. But, they have no problem raising our rates and then when we need it we have to fight them to get our claims paid with their TERRIBLE Customer service that know nothing and have to put on hold for them to ask someone, wth? I have been a Member for over 25 years too and recently went to State Farm which is so much better, no hassle on claims being paid and great customer service!
USAA in my opinion has gotten too big and their technology is fraught with errors. I bought a new car in 2015--USAA insurance all the time---bills, titles, you name it all went to my home address. In the process of getting insurance quotes, I discovered USAA still had a temp address from 2002--I bought my home in 2002--same zip, same subdivision, same county, but now I have a garage. They upped my insurance--SERIOUSLY !!! I fix your address mistake and you charge ME? No one talks--same issue on a roof--USAA paid for it it but didn't update new roof on policy? And a year later I caught THAT and you say so sad too bad as it cost me $250 for an old roof because USAA did not update the policy ? Maybe USAA needs real people. Time to change insurance companies!
Usaa is getting a bit better with Customer Service. I had an issue with paying my Credit card through a bank that is no longer open and was paid through them and I got an a rep with an ugly attitude and then the next rep, he was so nice, he made up for what I had dealt with a few minutes earlier. You gotta love the good ones. Kudo's to all the one's that are making Veteran's lives simpler.

“Auto insurance”

A big chunk of metal fell off of a truck right in front of me as I was driving. I ran over it because I couldn't swerve to either side as I was in the middle lane of a 3 Lane Highway with cars on both sides. It destroyed my car and they had to declare it a total loss. USAA recorded it as my fault sighting failure to yield, resulting in three points taken off of my driving record. Of course, they doubled my insurance rates. This is untrue and one of their agents told me that since they totaled my car, they wanted to recoup the money by doubling my insurance. I have been a member of USAA for 48 years and have never been treated so poorly. I spoke with another insurance company in my town, and they were appalled that USAA had not categorized it as a road hazard as that would have made it not my fault. I am unsure about what's happening with USAA. I understand they are facing financial troubles and are millions of dollars in debt. Perhaps this is their strategy for recovering funds, by treating their members poorly. Moreover, when I informed the USAA agent that I had consulted another insurance company, he accused me of lying. He also did not believe me when I said that another USAA agent had explained USAA's method of recouping money was by raising my insurance rates because they had paid out my car. I have been a member for 48 years. It is sad to see how this company has deteriorated. Service Value

“Lost everything”

Sold a 4 wheeler to someone who transferred the money into my account then after picking it up somehow took the money and transferred to a couple different accounts when I disputed it they sent me letters saying the dispute was resolved in my favor all good right WRONG the very next day my account was 3600 dollars negative they not only took back the credits but allowed this person to dispute the deposite of 6320 dollars and took that out of my account as well they also filed two disputes through venmo that I didn't authorize during all of this which froze my account and my entire paycheck I had deposited bc of the bs with my account going on was not able to be touched my power was cut off lost my RN supervisor job bc I didn't have money to get to work and could not take care of my two kids. Expressed this all the way to the CEO team and this after almost two weeks is still not resolved cant get anyone to call me back or cancel the dispute with venmo so I can get my electricity turned back on they don't care. “Our nightmare”

We are veterans. They claim to care, yet they violated their fiduciary responsibility to us and allowed us to be scammed. People made a claim against us for a near miss in an intersection. There was no accident. USAA claims agent Katie Dahl denied the scammers' claim. She sent me to a body shop so she could have pictures and measurements proving there was no accident. The scammers had photoshopped photos, and the claim went to arbitration. There should be no problem because the body shop evidence proved that our car was not involved in any accident, ever. BUT. Katie Dahl NEGLECTED TO PROVIDE THIS EVIDENCE IN ARBITRATION. She provided nothing. So we lost, and I am charged with being 100% responsible for an accident that NEVER HAPPENED. The California Department of Insurance has been trying to have USAA do the right thing. They cannot make them but only encourage. USAA has chosen to protect themselves and not revisit the arbitration. To say they failed us is an understatement. What they did should be illegal - their negligence and incompetence are staggering, and their refusal to rectify the situation is appalling. Service Value Quality

“USAA doesn't give a damn about vets, just$$”

Spent 6 hours trying to resolve an issue. Didn't get it resolved, got hung up on several times, got a temporary password that didn't work, tried calling again, but now they will only verify my identity by text, even though we did it several other ways, the many other times I called today. So now I can't access my account, get help from them, or anything, until I buy a cell phone so they can text me. Even though we did it several other ways than text, before. So now, I can't do anything. I can't access my account, I can't get help from them, I can't do anything. At all. So much for helping vets and being about helping veterans. Service Value Quality

“Worst company out there now..”

Unfortunately usaa was a great company, clearly they have forgotten who they are and in todays world that means they will never come back. The rate are not even close to being the best anymore. “USAA reported me as late to credit reporting agencies - FALSE and WOULD NOT HELP”

I have done business with USAA for years. Suddenly they reported me late on my credit card - falsely. I called their frustrating automated system and it said no balance at all - nothing due. So i waited on hold for a real person - they apparently were working from home and didn't know what to do. She just dropped me into another phone que without telling me a thing. Rude. The next person put me through the whole ID process again and couldn't find a thing but said from her script over and over "USAA reports accurate information." I contested not being allowed to speak to someone and said I would not just go away. She then put me in a 10-minute que and asked if I was sure I wanted to wait - trying to get me to drop out of fixing my credit report for their errors. They repetitively sent me to collections department which said i have nothing in a balance and nothing past due. They would not help at all to correct their problem and sent me away to the credit reporting agency which they provided false information to. “They should pay me for working on my own claim”

Don't waste your time. If you don't need to worry about claims they're great. As soon as you get into an accident and you need them to do what's right, good luck. Been without a car for 2 weeks on a not at fault accident because they dragged their feet and then they don't reply to calls or emails. As if they are closed from the 18th through Christmas. Get this, my accident happened 11/3, after several calls between me and USAA and me and the auto shop, it was finally deemed as a totaled vehicle on 12/1. On 12/4 I received notice of the value and that left me 4 days to return my rental. Because they gave me 7 days starting the 1st When they told me it was totaled but said nothing else. My bank is still waiting for payment to finish paying out the vehicle so I can purchase a new one. Today is 12/22. You really want this insurance company? Service Value Quality

“Horrible Service”

After my mom had a few accidents after my dad passed away (non-serious), USAA decided to cancel my mom's insurance despite her being a USAA member for 54 years. I thought they were better than that, but it seems they are not. The company used to be top-notch, but it appears that since they have tried to grow their business over the last 30 years and spend exorbitant amounts on advertising, they are all about money, not service. “USAA Authorized Theft”

USAA Banking allowed a total stranger to call them and say they were the owner of our account. This individual then gave them their name and email address, and USAA provided them a pin to access our accounts and transfer $5000 to another account at another bank. USAA admitted it was questionable when pressed about it. They NEVER informed of us and we only noticed because taxes are coming due. Even after we notified USAA, they allowed the funds to go through. So now we are out $5000 and it can take up to 90 days to (hopefully) get our money back. USAA has truly gone downhill in the decades we have been members and I strongly urge caution if you are looking at using USAA banking. Their security is pathetic at best. Service Value Quality

“Will not pay my claim”

I have provided every receipt they have asked for regarding hospital care after a car accident, but they won't pay because the hospital isn't giving them the "right code"...not that they are not giving them any codes, they are, just not the format USAA likes. The hospital doesn't have those codes. USAA said they would call the hospital and request them, but they never did. Never called me back. It's been a year of stalling. Online reps name is/was Lori...no help. Service Value

“Crooks”

11-year USAA member here. We have checking, savings, 2 homeowners policies, 4 auto policies, 1 personal property insurance policy, 2 auto loans, and a credit card with them. We purchased mold endorsements with our policies at the time of creation. 2-years ago, we repaired a plumbing leak behind our washer and dryer, and confirmed there was no mold damage. When replacing floors recently, we discovered mold on the baseboard extending onto the studs surrounding the area where the leak occurred. After filing a claim with USAA and providing proof of repairs, pictures of damage, professional inspection, and testing results confirming the source, our claim was denied because it was not filed within 1-year of the original leak. This mold policy is worthless, and we've been financially raped by these crooks for over a decade. We will be promptly closing all of our accounts. USAA won't steal another penny from us.

“USAA has stolen my money and identity”

Do NOT bank with USAA. They have had all of my money in their bank for 8+ years and now they "can't verify" me and I have zero access to my money or accounts for the last month. I have done everything but sell my soul to the devil to gain access to my accounts, I can not even access my homeowners insurance policy! Service Value Quality

“Terrible I'll be leaving every bit of USAA”

I've been with USAA insurance since February 2011 and banking since mid 2017 and after my experience and being low balled to the point I can't replace my vehicle with the exact same vehicle. It's okay cause I'm done with USAA if you have these reruns leave immediately they will have you doing their job and give you the run around now. USAA stands for Useless $#*!ty $#*!s Always I'll never use them for banking or insurance I've already switched to Chase Bank done with USAA on banking. When I get my other vehicle I'll be getting new insurance company as long as it's not USAA. Tip for consumers:Terrible company that preys on the military and vets Service Value Quality

“As a follow up to my unfavorable review some facts.”

I joined USAA in 1968 as a new USAF Officer. I was a satified member for 30 years. Live helpful people handled my phone calls. Rates were lower than other carriers, even mutual companies. I recieved a Subscriber Share dividend (rebate) each year. By 2000 USAA started to loose its way. The burearcracy grew. Advertising skyrocketed. The company lowered qualifications for membership. USAA started branching out into new areas. Then came NFL sponsorhips, sky boxes, and company jets. My rebates shrank. Three years ago I had to file a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner and threaten a lawsuit to settle a $6,000 claim (one of three in over 50 years). My five vehicles are now with a small independent and surprise, Allstate: Lower premiums, better service through local agents, and no problems. The double dipping Generals who run USAA do not care about the rank and file. Products used:insurance Service Value Quality

USAA is riding on the shirt tails of days gone by. Customer service has gone down hill over the last few years. Insurance rates are no longer competitive. “Worst Bank ever!”

Do not ever deposit any type checks because they will put up to a 10 day hold on them. They say it's because of the system. Well, the system is broken and it never supports Soldiers branch in Fort Campbell has closed down veterans. I feel even more sorry for them. They do not care if they are being an inconvenience they just want to keep making money off of us. I could understand if you had a bad history for checks and they would not honor them and wait but they do not even reach out to the check issuers to verify the funds. USAA *******722 auto insurance customer service reps are a joke. I can call 5 times and ask to speak to a manager, and all 5 times the customer service reps will tell me their opinions about what I should do instead. Unfortunately, these people lack training and have no idea what they are talking about so their opinions are always wrong. They also love to put customers on hold if they can't answer the question. “Serve themselves”

I joined USAA in the 80's when they liked serving the military. I noticed their attitude and level of service take a noticeable shift about 11 years ago. That shift has caused me to find a better insurance company for ALL types. They have mishandled my loans so I have paid them off. “USAA Safe Pilot App.”

I'm a 39 year member and have been driving over 50 years. I tried their Safe pilot App program where good driving is rewarded with up to 30% discount. Save your self the aggravation. Haven had an accident or ticket for 40+ years. Their rates are high so this app should have been a good deal. My usual drive per day is about 10 miles. Today I drove about 200 miles to go fishing. When I got home I checked my score it went from 94 to 67. It seems that cars are made to sit in your garage and not driven and if you drive too much you are penalized. So is it worth sacrificing you privacy and being watch as you drive? If I remember correctly, most accidents happen within 2 miles of your home! Am I not giving the company to see my driving over a long period without an accident or infraction. You would think that would be a plus for the driver. Last month my wife questioned a charge on our account but they would not speak to her as she was not the account holder. They were to lazy to check the POA on file! Then they didn't activate autopay on a new card so I paid a hefty price even thought the funds were in the account to pay them. So a $300 interest paid by me but I only earned a few cents that on the funds in my account to pay the bill. Shameful. While I complain, the company in general is good. I guess each company has some incompetent staff and manages which cause them a negative rating. Learn and adjust, we pay your salary by being members. Tip for consumers:Don’t waste your time if you like to drive this app will not help but will frustrate you and remove your freedoms to use a hands free cell while driving and have you think twice before you take a vacation and plan to drive and see America. Products used:USAA Safe Pilot App I used, but no longer. Maybe in the future when they fix the bugs in their app and recognize good drivers not focus on penalizing them. Service Value

“USAA is crap after 2019”

I've been a USAA member for almost 20 years. Since their change in management 2017, and merger in 2019, customer service and the benefits of having a USAA account has gone to crap. Might as well bank with Ally or US Bank. Customer service has also gone to crap. I was put on hold for 15 minutes when I could not verify that a missing card was canceled. Someone was literally stealing money while I was on hold with their service rep. I get transferred to four different people for what use to be a simple task. USSA has become an insult to veterans and their families. Service Value Quality

“Had them since 1983 with no problems.”

The only snag is that they quit covering motorcycles and RVs. But have a house, renter, and umbrella. Customer service has been fantastic. Also, have a credit card, checking, saings. Use to have a brokerage, but USAA discontinued that as well. With my few claims over the years, they also have been very prompt and fair. Tip for consumers:If you have a parent that served, you may qualify for their insurance and other products Products used:Auto, umbrella, checking, savings, credit card Service Value Quality

“USAA Bank sale?”

A year ago USAA sold the investment business after saying that they would not. Do you know anything about USAA selling the bank division? Please email me at *******@yahoo.com

“Takes forever to cash a check at the USSA banf facility”

When the pandamic started USAA closed their lobby banking facility. Only have drive through check cashing. Many banks initally went this route, but have since reopened their lobbies, not USAA lobbies still closed. But the closed lobby is only the start of the problem. They have six drive through lanes, but onlt TWO cashiers working the six lanes. Last week it took 48 minutes to cash a check. I have been a member of USAA for 46+years and for many many years I thought they could do no wrong, but some years ago they lost their way wanting to be a big time financial institution like Chase or god forbid Wells Fargo and they have succed but at the expense of their members. When they hooked up Victory Capital I immediately took all of my Investments out and but them in Capital Group American Funds. Smart move. My investments have never done better. Suppose I should thank USAA but I won't.

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet

Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.

We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.

  1. They have an award-winning VPN service, protecting your privacy and preventing third parties from tracking your device.

*** THERE IS A PROBLEM *** In the beginning you show \"usaa\" is connected to \"Amazon sales\" in the \"FOOD\" sector with an excellent 83.3 score, positive evaluation, and is legit - but - then towards the end it switches to \"USAA\" and only shows many, many extremely negative comments from veterans about a veterans\' insurance company!! Seems there may be two different companies, \"one good\" and \"one very, very bad\". Please recheck this and correct as needed. Thank you very much.
