As is listed under a somehow popular DVD Players niche, we tried to capture a short paragraph from its website to see what we gather:

Let's look at a review of below. Review

Our analysis finds that has a medium-low authoritative score of 42.70. This means that the site could be flagged as Controversial. Risky. Red Flags.

To get the review started, we have a few reasons for this 42.70 rating. The domain name is somehow new, but that's not just it. Our algorithm came up with the 42.70 score after it aggregated 50 factors relevant to the website’s DVD Players niche. These elements range - but are not limited to -the WHOIS data and some social media negative feedback to Tranco rank and some of the technology used in building the website.

Let’s get into details and check out what the terms mentioned in the Details section are. There are elements such as Domain Creation Date, Website popularity, Domain blacklist status, HTTPS connection, Proximity to suspicious websites, Threat profile, Phishing profile, Malware score and Spam score.

While the first 4 of them are self-explanatory, let’s discuss the last five. The first is “Proximity to suspicious websites”. What does that mean? It means that, through either its servers, IP address or other online connections, has an association - on a range from 1 to 100 - to sites that have been flagged as malicious. The higher the number is, the higher the proximity to these controversial websites is. Sometimes, the websites’ owners are not even aware that their site is in the very close vicinity of dubious ones, as both may be hosted on a platform that is not super safe. However, if the ‘Proximity to suspicious websites’ score is very high (for example over 80) you can rest assured that the website is definitely risky. If it’s under 30, it’s not that bad.

Still referring to the Details section above, the scores listed under the Threat profile, Phishing profile, Malware and Spam are exactly what they are named after. These scores are determined by the risk levels and elements that are found inside the website, in the HTML code. Maybe the website contains malware and the owners don’t know (or do) and the virus could be transmitted - hence the Malware score; or the email address used for this business has been reported as spammy - hence the Spam score.

Referring to these two scores, the numbers up to 30 are not extremely dangerous, while everything over that limit should be considered as red flags.

How To Easily Recognize Scams

We are closing this article with another great resource. Here is another must-watch video that you might want to check asap:

  1. I also ordered a DVD/VCR recorder about a year ago. The family from Texas in the picture looked so trustworthy. I never received the item. After many, many requests to Brad Smith for a refund I haven’t received that either. Always an excuse. I’m so tired of people like this.
    God bless this family.

  2. Brad Smith is the same scam dude who promised me my refund,& sent nothing but bogus excuses about their “refund machine” being broken down! Brad Smith…remember that name!

  3. Trusty Electronics is, indeed, a scam! I was promised my refund in March, I am still waiting, today is June 17th!! Now all of my emails are being ignored, I am being ghosted! 😠

  4. They are for sure a SCAM. I ordered the product and never received it nor have I gotten a refund. I got excuse after excuse as to why no product and the same with the refund…. Do not use this web site….

  5. It is an absolute SCAM. I read a review by another person who got scammed and my experience was identical. They promise delivery in 2 to 3 days. Then, they email you telling you there has been an illness in the family causing a delay, They apologize and repeatedly email you that it will be shipped immediately. They even told me that it had been shipped, but the shipper lost it.

This went on for two months.

Then, I saw a bogus review clearly placed by Trusty Electronics touting how great the company was, and was posted to refute the complaint.

I have done some additional research and it appears the company has no place of business.

  6. I ordered a DVD player in March. I never received it. They are definitely a scam!!! They tell you to wait for it and they will refund you half the money. It was all a lie!! This web sight needs to be taken down. I never received a refund or my order.

  7. Follow up to 5/25/2022 post re It is now confirmed, this outfit is a scam. Thankfully, I originally ordered through PayPal and they refunded my money after verifying my claim. Please heed this warning from my experience.

  8. Hello,

I just found your website, looking with great interest for the validity of By your low-med score and explanations, you have given me more reason to be very suspicious!

On 4/14/2022, I ordered a refurbished Samsung VCR/DVD combo with digital conversion tools as a set for $209.98 (paid via PayPal). Per their website at the time, the items were in stock and available, with a promised 5-7 day delivery. To this day, 5/25/2022, I still haven’t received it.

Per a long series of emails with their customer service (Brad Smith,, which I always had to initiate, the company has continuously claimed “…unforeseen circumstances that we don’t have control of like shortage in stocks and or logistics hiccups, some orders are being held up.” 3 times now I have been lied to concerning shipment of my order, the last one on 5/12 being most blatant, stating that my package had already been shipped and I should receive by June 1. After requesting shipment tracking information 3 times, Brad finally emails that my order is still delayed, not shipped! The email string states the whole disappointing history.

Each time Brad has communicated his apology and offer to cancel order and initiate a refund, but only after my inquiries and discovery that what he had previously promised didn’t happen. I kept telling him I still want my order, but need committed status/shipment details without all these vague excuses, and the insincere customer service talk with empty promises.

I’ve tried calling them repeatedly, but only get voicemail. I’ve requested (voicemail and email) that they call me right away, but still haven’t received a call. I also discovered today on their website that they were advertising the exact same Samsung VCR/DVD set for the exact same price (“2 left”)! How could they possibly continue advertising this in stock and available when mine is still stuck in incomplete limbo?! To date, there has been no effort on their part to initiate communication on order status. Again, all effort has been on my end, initiating inquiries.

About an hour ago, I communicated that if I don’t receive a call today, I’ll be forced to file a complaint through the FTC, BBB, etc. for false advertising and misrepresentation of facts.

Perhaps sadly, I’ve been holding until hope that they are legitimate and responsible (they even have YouTube videos). During my recent trip home in March, I had promised my elderly parents that I would digitize their precious home VCR tapes, and was relying on this order to fulfill that promise. I pass that bag of videos each day, constantly reminded.

Thank you for reading this long message, and for the good work and information provided by your website. Writing this out was somewhat of a catharsis. I’m becoming more concerned that I’m wasting my time, and that this company could be a scam. I still hope it isn’t.

If that requested call doesn’t come in the next hour or so, I’m planning to request a refund through a PayPal complaint, as I’m now hesitant to trust the sincerity of this company’s offer to refund. I will also file the FTC, etc. complaint.

Please let me know if you have any further information on this company. Thank you again very much, including your patience reading this.

    Kind regards,
    Shawn B.
