tomtom.com Review
The Scam Detector website Validator gives tomtom.com one of the higher trust scores on the platform: 86.5. It signals that the business is best defined by the following tags: Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same results. So, why this score? We came up with the 86.5 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to tomtom.com's industry. The algorithm detected little high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors, as noted in the Authentic. Trustworthy. Secure. tags above. Long story short, we deem this a secure website. But let's explain in more detail.
Explaining Our Analytical Approach
We've displayed some important information within the Company Details section above, each deserving more explanation:
- Proximity to Suspicious Websites
- Threat Profile
- Phishing Profile
- Malware Score
- Spam Score
- Domain Blacklist Status
- HTTPS connection
- Domain Creation Date
While some are self-explanatory concerning tomtom.com, let's look closer at the remaining ones.
Proximity to Potentially Harmful Websites
This metric gauges the connection, scored on a scale of 1 to 100, between tomtom.com and websites marked as suspicious. Elevated scores point to a stronger link with these questionable online destinations. It's worth noting that website owners might not always be aware of their site's proximity to these dubious platforms or servers. However, a "Proximity to Suspicious Websites" score surpassing 80 strongly indicates a high-risk website, while a score below 30 signifies a less-threatening site.
Risk Factors: Threat, Phishing, Malware, and Spam
These indicators reveal the vulnerabilities and elements embedded within the HTML code of tomtom.com. They become especially pertinent if the website has received reports from internet users who've encountered unsolicited emails, ads, or messages related to the site. In the context of tomtom.com, our investigation continues working to pinpoint the specific category, but we welcome your insights in the comments below. A high Malware score generally implies the presence of suspicious code that might be unknowingly disseminated. Conversely, a high Spam score hints at a possibly spam-ridden email address associated with the business. Scores under 30 in both categories are reassuring, but any score surpassing this threshold should raise concerns. tomtom.com is an authentic, safe website, given all the risk factors and data numbers analyzed in this in-depth review. Share your experience in the comments.
Domain Blacklisting Status
This term indicates whether tomtom.com has landed on any online directories' blacklists and earned a suspicious tag.
Assessing HTTPS Connectivity
This section provides insight into whether tomtom.com boasts an 's' at the end of the 'HTTP' protocol listed in your browser's address bar. If the tab displays in green, consider it a positive sign.
Safe Check
We want our trust scores and reviews to be as accurate as possible so that you can protect yourself from online fraud. Our algorithm aggregates factors that efficiently analyze a company's website, in this case, tomtom.com.

“Scam.”
Tom Tom regularly offer a free maps app; the problem being they then renew it without making this clear - this is because all their emails come to you in Dutch - and when you try and cancel the subscription every email you send gets returned to your inbox as 'unsent'. They've even got me called Deiter something-or-other, rather than my real name. Apparently being charged for a subscription, and when I tap on subscriptions it says: "You do not have any subscription which is linked to your TomTom account." This company is soooo Euro-typical! Let's all take the entire month of August off and treat customer service like it doesn't exist. Typical Union-orientated, 1970's attitudes to everything. Over the last few years I've been charged a lot of money and they always refuse to refund me. I explain that how is someone supposed to know the app is on a subscription when there is nothing in your Playstore to tell you and when every email comes back unsent? As you can imagine, that was unsent too! The map itself is simply awful. You cannot simply apply a postcode or address; it simply does not work as you would expect. Another European approach which is completely impractical, but, hey we will keep doing things in that 'European' way because who cares. Well, the app is awful, their Tom Tom GPS are equally as awful. I sold mine after trying to go on 2 trips. It sent me on the most insane route possible! Both the apps and the GPS's are utterly woeful. I still await even a reply let alone a refund for they costs this app has incured. I dont even use it due to its utter awfulness. Invoice ending *******
“Thieves”
I owned a speed camera database on my TomTom which was only a few months old. But when I tried to update the maps, TomTom stole my speed cameras. After I complained, they asked for £20 to replace them. Theft and extortion. They claim their map updates are free, but they are not - you cannot do a map update unless you pay for a speed camera update, otherwise they will steal the speed camera database that you own. This is a deliberate corporate policy by TomTom to fleece their customer base for as much as they can get. All my friends use Google or Waze, but I have defended TomTom in the past. Not anymore. Not now they have resorted to theft and extortion. You also have to spend hours trying to get the map updates to work. Their software keeps telling me "No internet connection", which was nonsense. I can't think of a single reason anymore to use TomTom. Service Value Quality
“TomTom Watch Model 4RFM”
I bought a Tomtom Watch some years ago for a very big price. It's already a long time that I'm searching who can replace the battery. Today I learnt that the service is simply stop without any possibility to replace anything. Let's not even talk about the support and the *** chatbot! Very disappointed, Tomtom is now on my blacklist of products I will never buy again! Tip for consumers:I don't recommend Tomtom Products used:Tomtom Watch Model 4RFM Service Value Quality
“Life-Time warranty”
Went to upgrade my first Tom Tom and was told couldn't be upgraded because it was too old. Tough luck if you believed their warranty. Was given another one for Christmas a few years back it needed to be upgraded. I never would have bought another one. This woman with a very strong accent told me my computer had 999 errors on it but they could fix that before the update. Gave me a choice of which program to use at a charge of $ 50.00 and up. I told her not to bother. When I turned my Tom Tom back on, the $#*! had removed all the data making the unit totally unusable. This company should should be put out of business. They will tell you anything to get money out of you. No honor or trustworthiness. Total scam artists. Products used:none Service Returns Quality
“Tom Tom navigation systems”
I give Tom Tom one star, however one star is one to many. Myself and a friend both have Subaru Outback's and we cannot get the Navigation systems to accept verbal commands. I've taken mine to the Subaru service department and they were also unable to get it to work...
“Disgusting and dishonest marketing”
Marketed with having free lifetime map updates plus one-year bonus services, my unit stated it was unable to be updated or install first-time features because it was no longer supported. Brand new opened from box, never updated before. I guess the company can define "lifetime" with whatever lifespan they feel like.
“It's like a company run by dishonest monkeys.”
Their new units are junk. My 15 year old model works vastly better. I'd hoped to upgrade but I was so disappointed. Now returning the product was a nightmare. A total nightmare. In the end it cost me about 1/4 of the price of the unit and took hours of back and forth emails. I think they're simply going out of business and just can't keep up with returns of their junky products.
“Good but!”
They do have good GPS's and as for other product's I don't know about them. My only complaint is about the cost of their map updates. They are extremely expensive to the point that if you spend a little more you can just purchase a new GPS. Other companies offer free updates so what is with Tom Tom!
“Frauds”
If I could give this company -5 stars I would. Terrible company. Worst customer service. Bought a product that crapped out in a week. Contact customer service, it took 4 different emails. No sense of continuous communication. One email told me to send the product back in which I have to pay for to CHINA! When keep in mind the product was delivered from New Jersey. And I have to cover the shipping cost. While the other email asked me to take a video and send it to them. The box doesn't COME ON! Want me to take a video of a black box that sits there and do NOTHING? All I want is my refund. I don't want a new box because they're terrible in quality and I don't want to ship anything to CHINA! I would avoid these guys at all cost. They are crooks, scam artists and unethical.
“I was really optimist when I purchased tom tom via...”
I was really optimist when I purchased tom tom via 1535 GPS. The device is great, but I became fully frustrated when I tried to update the maps, it gave me hard time with no real positive results. The XXl series, from which I owned the one before, was very practical and easy to update. It looks like tom tom has been complicating its updating procedures. I am not happy with my new Tomtom via 1535 GPS.
“Speed camera updates”
September 2021 I purchased speed camera updates for my device, two weeks later the device failed (the port broke and could not be repaired, (not tom tom's fault). I purchased another Tom Tom and my new camera data base was not transferable, I was advised I had to purchase it again. No assistance from Tom Tom other than two emails advising the problem would be sorted, the sort was to add speed cameras expired message when I log in. Tip for consumers:Tom Tom have no customer service. other than emails, and published advice on how to fix your own device Products used:sat nav Service Value Shipping Quality
“Very dangerouse destroy some country in africa with their gps cartography”

“Worst customer service ever”
I purchased a TOMTOM 6250 Go Professional in November last year and have had trouble ever since I bought it. The aftersales has been appalling from TOMTOM. To date I have sent over 15 emails that remain unanswered. It is no surprise that there are no telephone contact details anywhere to call them. The device is very poor and doesn't live up to expectations at all. The maps are out of date and the routing is totally unreliable. Having now spoken to a number of fellow drivers it appears that the service levels I have experienced are the norm. So beware TOMTOM are garbage. I have to say that the retailer wasn't that much help either Truck and van gear via ebay. Tip for consumers:More available reviews Products used:TOMTOM6250 Go Professional Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Absolutely no human support”
1. Mine will not give voice directions. 2. the screen will not follow me as I travel. I seem to have to push an arrow whenever it goes off screen. I think it is very dangerous to use. Like texting while you drive. 3. The package says to call an 800 # for voice support but when you dial that number you are put into a circle and re-directed to a website where you can get answers. But when plugged in I rarely get an answer llike 'get the gps screen to follow me' or How do I get voice directions. It's really frustrating and a Warning! It says call this number to return but you CAN NOT return if it has been turned on. I emailed them and am waiting for some kind of reply. If I hadn't even opened the box they would charge me 15% and postage to return. So it seems I am stuck with this tomtom which I am fearful to use on the freeway or in heavy traffic. (I got it from tomtom direct and sure wish I would have used amazon as they have such a good return policy. My bad I guess. Costy tho!
“Disgusting, Deceitful, 'Don't Care' Company”
I purchased a TomTom device on-line, 12 months ago. From the outset, I have several serious map problems. You would have expected these should have been fixed (under warranty) over time, especially given the steps I have taken, and the results. IE:- - Map Correction (many times) via TomTom web-site. This should not have been necessary as there have been no changes (just the initial TomTom errors). - Nothing. - E-mail. - No e-mail address available)even on the 'Support(?) Page. - Phone. - No number quoted. - Letter to National (Australia) Office. - No reply or acknowledgement. - Letter to Head Office (Amsterdam). - No reply. While still under warranty, a piece from the back of the device, detached. This was also reported in some of my messages. Obviously, I had no response about this. As a result, I am left with a product which is virtually useless. I have taken all steps available (or should be) for recourse. There are only 3 more things I can do - 1. Throw the 'junk' in the rubbish. 2. Strongly urge others not to buy a TomTom product. Despite glowing references on TomTom web-sites, there are many more 'negative' independent reports on several review pages such as this. 3. Buy an alternative product (say, Garmin) or use my more efficient smart-phone. This is a Disgusting, Deceitful, "Don't Care' Company. Products used:TomTom Go Supreme Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“Shipped an alternate GPS even though the sales sheet on the internet site says the unit was in stock”
I am getting the runaround from their so called customer service concerning a recent order. The internet page says the unit I ordered is in stock, but they have shipped an alternate unit. Because of the current 'crisis' they say they won't accept returns even though the mistake is their fault. I WILL NEVER AGAIN PURCHASE A TOM TOM UNIT, NOR WILL i RECOMMEND THEIR UNITS TO ANYONE EVEN THOUGH THE UNITS THEMSELVES WORK PRETTY WELL. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND THEIR CUSTOMER 'DIS'SERVICE. THEY'RE NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION.
“Having used a TomTom One XL Sat Nav for over 8 years...”
Having used a TomTom One XL Sat Nav for over 8 years I decided it was time to buy a more up-to-date version and bought a TomTom Via135. Out of it's box I followed the setup instructions to the letter (or should I say graphic) but no way would the device connect with the software that you download from the TomTom.com site. I returned it to the local (well known national) store where I had purchased it and after concerted effort by one of their staff it was proven it wasn't only me who couldn't get it to work so they replaced it. Without going into detail the same thing happened all over again and once more the staff at the store did their level best to make it perform but without success so they refunded my purchase without question. The point is; neither they nor I located any useful guidance or direct means of contact with TomTom which has resulted in two returns that will stop me either recommending their product to others or considering TomTom as a Sat Nav again.
“Terrible product does not work”
Standard on my 2022 Pacifica I have used other GPS for years this is the worse ever. Does not show cross roads or names
“Tom Tom support falls short”
Tom Tom support falls short - If you own a GPS, particularly a TOM TOM, you might want to be forwarned. The product is an excellent GPS and Ive compared it to much more costly GPS's, and this one is great! With a great product, comes the responsability to give it good customer support. I won't go into details, but I purchased additional software online, which ended up not being a match for my unit, and then began the jumping through hoops to get help. This company's "contact us" feature is automated and useless. First you have to give lots of info about your product, even if that has nothing to do with the questions, then you can add text and send. What kind of a reply do you get? You get an automated reply saying your problem was "solved". This is done by a robot and not a human. I sent three such contact emails to them, and each was replied to with "solved". I ended up having to call them directly. Calling directly was another chllange, but my payment which they received via Paypal in minutes, was not to be credited within 30 or more days. Not to mention the hoops the operator had me go through without once greeting me as a customer or asking how I am. She went into her scripted monolog and made me answer many questions before I could get a word in edgewise. I suggest if you purchase this GPS, to do so, but not to expect much in a way of follow up support... its not there.
“No respond from the company”
Did you pay attention that rarely if at all there is no reviews responds by the TomTom representatives? Do they care at all about their customers?
“TomTom is a fraudulent company”
TomTom is a fraudulent company. They do not provide Lifetime Free Updates. They do not answer calls or respond to emails. Do not buy TomTom products. Products used:GPS Service Value Shipping Returns Quality
“DNKP - Does Not Keep Promise”
I have owned 4 tomtom Gps units. Last one is a Via 1505 TM. TomTom says my lifetime maps has expired. Ok, my lifetime is still alive. PeteN
“Absolutely awful”
3rs one and can't hold its charge longer than a day! Waste of money! Fitbit should be called $#*!bit.

How To Remove Your Information From the Internet
Whether you like it or not, unfortunately, the Internet has all your personal information stored. How did that happen? Every time you visit a simple site and accept cookies, consent to their forms, or download an app, unscrupulous data brokers collect not just your phone number, name, AND address. They also sell this to third parties, which creates a $1 billion industry a year. Your collected personal data is used by buyers to send you never-ending spam emails, targeted ads, and, of course, telemarketing calls. Crooks use all your data without remorse.
We can help. Many people have asked us about how to remove your personal information from the Internet. If you want your data deleted entirely from the online world, contact our official partners at Incogni immediately. This legitimate data privacy tool works on your behalf to officially require a ton of online brokers to remove your data.
